Who Shall Separate Us?
Romans 8:35-37 (KJV) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. One attribute of the first and second-century believers that I have always admired in awe was their ability to stand for Christ in the midst of the harshest persecution. Theirs was a generation of believers that knew that accepting the Lord Jesus meant signing up for diverse persecution and hostility from even their own government. But they were resolute, and they overcame. By the end of the second century AD, the church had covered the known world. Idol worship in Europe and Asia Minor were now a thing of the past. (This was before the corruption of the church in the following centuries). One thing was quite clear in their attitude. They were resolute to stand for Christ and love Him in spite of whatever would come their way. Verses like today’s verses were their anthem and pledge. Persecution was not going to stop them from loving God. Please understand that today’s Bible verse is actually saying ‘nothing would stop us from loving God’: not persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, etc. Go into today remembering that God has loved us with an everlasting love. This love made Him make the ultimate sacrifice [of becoming flesh in order] to save us. Our only reasonable response would be to love God back(1 John 4:19). Remember that is is to those that love God that all things work together for their good. We must never turn our backs on Him but remember that no matter what we face, we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. Overcoming is in our DNA. Prayer: Lord, please help me to abide in your love. Amen. —Pst. Ask Believing
James 1:6-7 (NET) But he must ask in faith without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed around by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord Damola asked the Lord to expand his business but was behaving in a way that proved that he was not really expecting his prayer to be answered. This was the reason he never received from the Lord. He was double-minded because his expectation was different from his request. He voiced his desire to God in prayer, but his expectation was the opposite. What does it mean to ask in faith? It means asking, believing that you will receive what you have asked. It means after you ask for something, you expect it to happen, without a doubt. This means if you ask the Lord for something, you begin to prepare to receive it. You do not say ‘I might receive it’, you say ‘I receive it’. Asking in faith means your expectations and your desire are now one. You absolutely expect to receive what you have asked for. God would not usually give us things that are against His will for us, so it is important for us to know His will through His word so that we may not ask amiss. Go into today remembering that it is always God’s will for you to walk in wisdom (Eph 5:17, Prov 8, Matt 10:16). Prayer: Father, I ask that you help me know your will and pray according to it. Justified By God 2
Romans 8:34 (NET) Who is the one who will condemn? Christ is the one who died (and more than that, he was raised), who is at the right hand of God, and who also is interceding for us. In common law, there is something called ‘stare decisis’ which is the principle by which judges are bound to precedents. If an advocate can establish that a similar case with similar facts had been judged in the past, that judgment becomes a basis for the present judgement. All that Job suffered was because the ‘accuser of brethren’ accused him before the throne of God. Satan asserted that the reason job feared God was because of the blessing of God in his life; that if the blessing and covering were to be removed, Job would curse God to His face (Job 1:9-11). Job suffered a great deal because of the accusations of Satan the accuser of brethren. But today, we have the son of God speaking for us against the accusations of Satan. Through Job’s [court] case, the point was made once and for all that the withdrawal of God’s covering and blessing would not separate God’s elect from His love(also see Romans 8:38-39). That legal precedent has already been set by Job’s case and perfected by Christ Himself, and because we have Christ as our advocate, the accuser cannot afflict us through the kind of accusation he used against Job or anyone else at that. Human beings suffer many afflictions because of the accusations of Satan (It’s a tragedy for a man not to have an advocate in that realm). There is nothing the devil can do on God’s earth without God’s permission (either express, inherited or implied). People’s sins are tokens of accusation with which the devil appropriates the license to afflict them. And since all have sinned, all were under the bondage of the devil. But those who accept the Lord Jesus would receive His deliverance from sin and come under His covering. They are those for whom the Lord makes intercession. No one can bring a charge against them because it is God that justified them (see Romans 8:33). Go into today remembering that the devil cannot bring any charge against you if you abide in Christ through faith in Him. Thank the Lord for saving you out of the dominion of the devil. Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you walk in the fulness of the benefits of the redeemed life. —Pst. Be Filled With the Spirit
Ephesians 5:18 (KJV) And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. Some days ago, I saw a man who was so drunk that he had lost control of his body; he staggered, sang, clapped and gesticulated as he tried to find his way home. Because that man was drunk with alcohol, I could easily observe the influence of alcohol over him? Have you seen a man filled with the Holy Spirit before, what did you observe? The fruit of the Spirit, right? You see, like a man under the influence of alcohol loses control of himself, so is a man under the influence of the Holy Spirit; he is unable to respond to the sinful desires of his flesh because he is under a greater influence, the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:16 (KJV) reads, ‘‘this I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.’’ If you find yourself responding so easily to the [sinful] desires of the flesh, it is a sign that you are not filled with the Holy Spirit at that moment. The wise thing to do would be to turn to your Heavenly Father and ask Him to fill you again (see Luke 11:11-13). You see, to have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you is different from being filled with Him. When a cup is filled with water, it has no space left for other things, right? So, when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you will have no space for the [control of the] flesh. Go into today knowing that if you are not filled with the Holy Spirit, the lust of the flesh will fill the vacuum. Pray like this, Father, help me to be filled with the Holy Spirit always, in Jesus’ name, amen. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: Numbers 9-12 (In Devotional Audio) http://listen.streamglobe.org/Devotional%20Audio%202087.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | Download ()Subscribe: RSS
The Eternal God is My Refuge 2
Deuteronomy 33:27 (NLT) The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. He drives out the enemy before you; he cries out, ‘Destroy them!’ There is a way most people feel when they have lots of money in the bank. This feeling is because money has the ability to be a refuge, and many people trust in it. For the man that has made God his refuge, his feeling of security in Life comes from his knowledge of God. Such a person understands that ‘underneath are the everlasting arms’ of God. Every human being in this world needs some form of refuge in life. Some trust in chariots and horses (Psalm 20:7). This means they trust in systems that they have put in place. They derive their feeling of security from the money that they have, and elaborate security arrangements. But those who trust in the Lord know better. They understand that anything that is not everlasting does not have the capacity to be a reliable refuge for man. They have made God their refuge, and they will never be put to shame. Go into today thanking God because He is a refuge. Determine today to let your feeling of security be rooted in the integrity of God. This produces the faith required to receive the resources of heaven. Prayer: thank you Father for being my refuge. I ask that you help me never waver in trusting you. Amen. —Pst. Who is the fool?
Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1749 Psalm 14:1 (KJV) The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Joe had developed an attitude of not showing up for work because he felt activities at work weren’t important unless their boss was around. He was warned several times about this attitude but failed to listen until one day, a sudden roll call was carried out. It was later revealed that their boss had always been at work observing them even at times when they believed he was away because his car was not in the parking lot. Many were sacked as a result of their absence and negligence and Joe was one of them. Many have viewed today’s Bible verse only from the perspective of an atheist or agnostic’s refusal to accept the existence or knowledge of God, but truly, it means more for the believer. For instance, one reason many have the habit of going late to church is because they lack understanding of this scripture. If they truly believe that according to God’s word, The Lord will be present in their midst when they gather in His name, they would take an appointment with Him more seriously than they would take an appointment with their governor or president (Pro 23:7). He who comes to God must believe that He is: he must believe in the reality of His presence and in the immutability of His Word, otherwise, such a person’s claim is deceptive, unwise and no different from that of demons who according to the Bible, also believe in God (Heb 11:6, James 2:19-26). The person that has truly said in his heart that there is God is one who is moved with holy fear to do what God commands, and who avoids living in sin. This is wisdom and it starts first by the infilling of oneself with the Word and by acting out one’s professed faith in obedience (Heb 11:7, Pro 9:10, Col 3:16). Go into today, reminded that empty claims about God or His promises do not make one wiser than others but rather, obeying His Word is what really matters. —Chibo E.C Bible in 1 Year: John 7-9 (in today’s audio) want to be saved? His Will, My Will
Download the Audio: bit.ly/aud2086 Matthew 6:10 (KJV) Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Jesus knew that men have their own will yet He taught His disciples to pray, ‘‘ thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven”. By implication, He taught them to find their will in God’s will; He expects the same from you. In Psalms 40:7-8 David wrote, ‘‘ lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, o my God…’’. You are truly successful only when you have become all that God wants you to be. Did God not give me a will? Someone may ask. Yes, he did and you must willingly hand over yourself to him, this is the only way to getting true success. Has God given you dreams, visions, and prophecies that seem not to be coming to pass? If yes, kindly answer this question. Am I doing His will or my own will? You see, the promises God gave you were all enshrined in His will and unless His will becomes your will, you may never see the promises come to pass. Go into today knowing that the end of all struggle will be for you to surrender to God’s will. God’s grace flows in the direction of His will. God Himself will be the one working in you once you agree to will and do according to His pleasure (Philippians 2:13). Pray this way: Lord, I surrender all to you; spirit, soul, and body. Stand In His Word
Download the Audio: bit.ly/aud2085 Psalms 121:7-8 (KJV) 7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. Clarence had a very bad dream concerning his journey. He was to travel through a very dangerous road and was now reluctant, but he had to go on the journey. He had prayed about the journey and knew he was to travel, but fear was now lurking in his heart because of the terrible things he had heard concerning that road; and the bad dream he had. Because he understood spiritual things, he knew he needed to get rid of that fear before he embarks on the journey, so he took some time to pray about it. As he prayed, he remembered today’s Bible verses and started reciting them again and again. He did this until he conquered the fear in his heart. This was the weapon the Lord gave him to cast out every fear. His journey turned out very smooth and fruitful. God has given us great and magnificent promises, and through them, we are partakers of the divine nature, haven escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (see 2 Peter 1:3). It is through the promises of God that we partake of His divine nature. When we become aware of any of God’s promises and believe it, it creates hope(a sure expectation) in our hearts, and faith is the substance of things hoped for. It is through faith that we receive things from God. Even your salvation was received through faith, [f]or by grace are ye saved, through faith (see Ephesians 2:8). Anytime there is doubt in your heart concerning the good destiny that God has planned for you, conqueror it with the word of God. You will have to be consistent and persistent because faith works with patience. Those who inherit the promises do so through faith and patience (see Hebrews 6:12). The word of God is our attack weapon(see Ephesians 6:17). It is also a booster of faith(which is the shield against the fiery darts of the wicked), for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God(Romans 10:17). Go into today remembering to conquer every fear and insecurity with the promises of God. For every militating word of fear that may have found its way into your heart, there is an opposing word of faith from the Lord. Find it and let it dominate your heart. This is how we appropriate our victory. Prayer: Thank you Lord, for Your thoughts for me are good and not evil. Please increase my faith and help me appropriate all that You have planned or me. Be Tender With The Growing
Download the Audio: bit.ly/aud2084 Luke 1:20 (NET) And now, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time, you will be silent, unable to speak, until the day these things take place.” One angel, similar messages to two different people, similar responses by them, but different reactions by the angel. I am referring to the visits of Angel Gabriel to Zechariah, the father of John the Baptizer and Mary, the earthly mother of our Lord Jesus. When Zechariah asked the angel “How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years” (Luke 1:18), he was stricken with dumbness, but the angel was much more endearing and accommodating of Mary’s question about how Jesus would be born since she was still a virgin and not yet married. The angel took the time to explain everything to her, even though she and Zachariah asked similar questions. (Read Luke 1:4-34). You might be wondering why it played out like that. This is it. Zechariah was a priest. One who we would call a pastor today. He had grown in his work with God and was mature in faith. His experience and knowledge of God should have excluded him from questioning how God would work such a miraculous birth. He was familiar with how God had been dealing with His people, especially the patriarch, Abraham. Mary was young, was not even from the priestly lineage. She might just pass as a young Christian who is still learning about the operation of God. She still had not gotten in-depth knowledge of God and so, there was room for her to ask questions and be educated. No wonder Angel Gabriel took the time to educate her on how the birth process of Jesus was going to be. God deals with us differently, according to our level. With the mature, He expects to act, speak, and walk accordingly. And He will sometimes reprimand when they act otherwise. But with the growing believer, He will always want to guide, even when they misstep. We should be like God, especially in dealing with Christians that are not yet at our level. Be patient, endearing, loving, accommodating and comforting. In the end, Zechariah talked again after John was born. That’s God; loving and caring. No wonder Job said “though He slays me, yet will I trust in Him…”(Job 13:15). Go into today knowing that when dealing with a growing Christian, be tender. Come to their level and help them grow. Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me your heart in dealing with all people. Help me be a fruitful soul winner. When Nkiru was an unbeliever, she performed many abortion procedures as a nurse. She had lost count of the number of abortions she performed because it was a very lucrative business. After accepting the Lord Jesus, she repented of her sins and stopped performing abortions. Two years into her marriage, she could not conceive. Each time she tried to pray about this, she was continually reminded of her past sins. It wasn’t until she got light from today’s scripture that she broke free from the bondage of darkness and conceived. Before the devil can afflict any believer, he has to first accuse and bring them under condemnation. It is the duty of the believer to appropriate the realities of his redemption and break free from every accusation. Remember, it is God who justified you, not your works. If you believe this, you would walk in the realities of your redemption. Go into today remembering that because you are in Christ, Jesus makes intercession for you. You are not alone in the Spirit realm. You have the biggest ally of all, and He is not ashamed of you. Prayer: Holy Father, please help me know greater measures of your grace daily.
