Because Caleb grew up in a very racist community, his confidence in life came from the fact that he was from a particular race, and he saw all other races as inferior. Because of this mindset, he could not advance in the kingdom of God the way he desired. He wondered why the miracle-working power of God was not present in his ministry even though he had had encounters with the Lord. The Lord graciously revealed to him that as long as he still defined himself from the standpoint of his fleshly identity, he wouldn’t be able to fulfill his destiny that is tied to his divine identity. Yesterday, we saw that except a believer overcomes his fleshly identity and ways, his encounters and blessings with God may not make much difference in his daily life. Every other encounter Jacob with God would have been for his growth if he had utilized the first appropriately. Because of this lack of understanding, he suffered 21 years of hard labor and pain. Every unnecessary labor in your life will end today if you will let your identity in Christ dominate your life from today. Unlike Jacob, Saul asked this question when he had his encounter with the Lord, he asked: ‘what wilt thou have me to do?’ see Acts 9:6 (KJV). It was his obedience to the Lord’s response that launched him into his glorious destiny. Go into today remembering that the world desperately awaits the manifestation of the sons of God like you (Romans 8:19). Ask the Lord to help you walk in your divine identity and do exploits. —Emmanuel James & SD Abraham Bible in 1 Year: II Kings 16-20 (in today’s audio) Not yet born again? After Jacob had stolen the blessing from Esau his brother, he had to run for his life. Even though he had the blessing and God’s Covenant Presence, he never walked in this reality but lived a troubled life until he had the encounter that brought him into his divine Identify. This happened when for the first time, he acknowledged his sinful ways reflected in the name and identify he was known by. One of the meanings ascribed to the name Jacob is supplanter, and Jacob lived up that unrighteous reputation. But when he received a new name and identity from the Lord, his future and destiny was no more laden with uncertainty but with the blessing that produced God’s firstborn nation. Like Jacob, many have encountered God, but because they have not conquered their fleshly identity, they are still very limited and oppressed. God revealed himself to Jacob in Bethel (Gen 28:12), but he continued life as a troubled man until he confessed his old identity and received his new identify from God (see Genesis 32:27-28). Many Born again, Holy Ghost filled, tongue talking believers with many heavenly encounters have found that their lives do not reveal the glory and fruitfulness of a blessed life. What might be wrong? Go into today knowing that, except you overcome the works and identity of the flesh, and live a life consistent with your new identity in Christ, your encounters may not translate to much in your daily life. For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church. After Jide became a believer in the Lord Jesus, he found it very difficult to submit to anybody. Because he was very intelligent, he started reading the bible from cover to cover and memorized a great part of it. Many times, he did not see the need to go to church because he felt he already knew what the pastor was going to teach. He was not accountable to anyone, not even the person through whom the gospel came to him. This was the reason Jide was not growing the way he should. He was still a very weak and vulnerable believer. His heart was still full of many works of the flesh like pride, greed, lust, and selfishness. One of the attributes of believers who have truly yielded themselves to the Lordship of Jesus is submission to one another in the fear of the Lord (see Ephesians 5:21). God has placed people ahead of us in the faith, and we are expected to follow their example in righteousness, faith, and good deeds. There are many things we learn by simply being followers of those who have gone ahead of us in the faith. These things would have taken us much longer to discover on our own. Go into today remembering that a great part of the [power producing] virtues and disciplines of our faith is learned by imitating those who have gone ahead of us in the faith (see Hebrews 6:12). Kaura was facing unending battles and challenges. He knew something was fundamentally wrong spiritually, but he could not place his finger on it. As he continued to seek the Lord to find out where the problem was, the Lord sent a prophet to tell him that he needs to start honoring his father as a thing of necessity. He immediately knew that the Lord wanted him to connect with his father in the Lord who he never really honored. When his father in the Lord started praying for him, things became well with him? When the Lord said we should not call anyone father, but God, there was a context to this statement. In that culture, Father was not just the male parent of a household, but someone considered to be the source and sustainer of the household. So what the Lord is saying is that we should not consider any man to be our source, sustainer or provider. Only God is our source and sustainer, even though He uses men to help us as He pleases. The Lord was not banning the use of the word ‘father’ because He is the one who commanded us to honor our fathers and mothers(see Eph 6:1). Your salvation was not a coincidence, and the person through whom it came to you was not a coincidence either. Just like those through whom God sent us into this world are our fathers (and God approves of this characterization), those through whom we got into the kingdom of God are our fathers or mothers also. I do not mean those who got us to pray the ‘sinner’s prayer’ the very first time we did, I mean those through whom we came to know the Lord in reality. Go into today remembering that it is wrong to see any man as your sustainer and pillar in life. Also, remember that we are to honor our fathers and mothers, so that it may be well with us (see Eph 6:1). —SD Abraham Bible in 1 Year: Luke 21-22 (in today’s audio) Get sermons here☞ streamglobe.org/34 Streamglobe is interdenominational. A Sunday School story is told of a man of God who lived in an ancient city. The city was flooded and all lives were destroyed, but he managed to run to the top of the tallest mountain in town where he called on God for help saying “God, I am your servant, come and save me from this flood.” Just before the flood water got to his ankle, a rescue team came in a flying boat “jump in” they exclaimed but he responded, “no, God will come and save me”. When the water got to his knees, another team appeared and yet another when the water was at his waist, but his response was the same. The water finally covered him and he drowned. When he got to heaven, he told God how disappointed he was, but God’s response was “I sent help to you three different times. Those rescuers came in response to your prayer but you turned them down.” God answers us so many times by sending men, but the inability to discern such answers from God is a reason why many continue suffering. God heard the cry of the people of Israel and came to rescue them, however, he came not as God Almighty, but through Moses. The people of Israel were crying to God for a messiah, but they rejected him when he came as Christ Jesus because they could not discern their day of visitation. Discerning answers when they come from God is as important as asking for help. If we cannot receive answers, our prayers will be long and unending. Go into today trusting the Holy Spirit to help you discern the answers to your prayers no matter how they come. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: Ezekiel 31-36 (in today’s audio) Not yet saved? James was an only son of a widowed mother, but he was living his life without a care. He had an arrogant confidence because his uncle had told him that he would sponsor his university education to masters level. Unfortunately, all of a sudden, his uncle died and then it dawned on him that his future was in jeopardy. He experienced a lot of pain and hardship afterward, but by grace, he met and accepted Jesus as his Lord. In later years, looking back after finishing his Ph.D. with a scholarship in one of the most prestigious universities in the world, he was most grateful that God’s plan prevailed in his life instead. To the one who is lost or who feels like the worst offender, God still has a plan waiting to prosper you. However, it only becomes active when you by faith, receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior (Luke 23:40-43). To you who knows and fears God but are wondering how you’ll make it, as your life at this point in time seems to be further away from your dreams, be encouraged! God’s plan may not follow the route your mind expects, but it would come to fruition (Gen 50:20). Just as there’s a way that seems right at first, but the end is destruction, God’s plan may not seem clear to you now, but it will surely lead to life and peace (Pro 12:28). Go into today knowing that God’s plan is still intact and unchanged concerning your life, and as you keep trusting Him, your life will only get brighter till you get to your place of glory (Pro 4:18). —Chibo E.C. We understood that the Bible contains truths, it becomes the truth to us when it is revealed by the Holy Ghost and hence makes us free. James 4:3 (KJV) “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” Jesus, however, put it this way in John 16:24 “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” You may want to ask the question, what will you call the prayers I have prayed? If you ask amiss according to James 4:3, it is interpreted by Jesus in John 16:24 as not asking at all. This is because he (Jesus) promised that we will receive when we ask in his name and his promises are yea and amen (1 Chronicle 17:1). John 16:23 (KJV) reads “And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.” How then should I ask in order to receive? Let the Holy Spirit help you. Challenges, problems or the unfavorable situations around you may chase you to the place of prayer but they certainly should not determine what you ask for. Romans 8:25 (KJV) “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.” When the Spirit helps us in prayer, the truth will be revealed and our freedom will come in response to the revealed truth. See Jeremiah 33:3. Go into today trusting the Holy Spirit to help you in all things, prayer inclusive. WALKING IN THE CALL

When Collins started becoming interested in serving the Lord, naturally, he wanted to be at the peak of this service. After being in church for a while, he observed that many considered the office of the apostle to be the highest in the body of Christ. Because of this, he wanted also to be an apostle. Because he was really committed and dedicated to the work in his local church, he was soon ordained as a minister. But still, he wanted to be called an apostle. One morning, he was studying the word of God when he came across today’s Bible verse. He read it again and again, and this really scared him. From that moment, he started changing his mind concerning his dream to someday become an apostle. Whether a person is an apostle, or a prophet, or an evangelist, or a pastor and teacher, is not really his decision to make. These things are determined by God from before the person is born (see Gal 1:15, Jer 1:5). But whether a person ends up walking in God’s call for his life is dependent on how he responds to God during the days of his sojourning here on earth. Many indeed are called, but few are chosen. The difference between the chosen and the rest is faithfulness (Rev 17:14). God doesn’t entrust much to the unfaithful (see Luke 16:10). I do not believe that everyone who has the call to be an apostle must necessarily die for the faith (Apostle John didn’t die the death of a martyr), but I believe that everyone who must effectively walk in his call must have the mindset of an apostle. One that is willing to give up his life (if need be) for the sake of the gospel (see Luke 14:26, Rev 12:11). Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you fulfill His call for your Life. A FRIENDLY CHASTISEMENT

[6] Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. It probably must have been hard and embarrassing for Peter who was handed over leadership of the early church by Christ, to see himself openly rebuked by Paul, who formerly persecuted Christians. However, because in humility he accepted and saw in the rebuke God’s truth, this same Peter would later affectionately refer to Paul as a beloved brother. Paul was truly a friend (Gal 2:11-14, 2 Pet 3:15). The word of God in Hebrews 12:7-12 talks about accepting correction from God and from earthly parents. It is quite understandable for one to accept chastisement when the chastiser is of higher authority, but what happens when it’s from a perceived peer or a friend? In truth, God is far higher than us in Authority and Might, but in an incredible act of love, He brought Himself down to our level and called us His brethren and friends (Heb 2:9-11, Jn 15:15). It may hurt us more when a friend points out to us our wrongs, but it pays in the end because we very often confide more about ourselves to them than we would to our rulers, parents, etc., so our friends know how to be of help to us more personally (Pro 18:24). We must reject pride and mustn’t be believers who only respond to correction if it comes from the top, but not from our own peers, otherwise, the enemy will capitalize on our ego to bring us down (Matt 23:12). From today, determine to be humble to not only accept rebuke from your believing peers but also be bold enough to confess your faults to them as well, for prayers from such meetings lead to deliverance (Jam 5:16, Job 42:8-10). —Chibo E.C Bible in 1 Year: Leviticus 16-18 (in today’s audio) Not yet saved? Already you are rich! You have become kings without us! I wish you had become kings so that we could reign with you! Gbenga and his wife were fond of criticizing and judging servants of God. They were experts at searching out the faults of men of God online and criticizing them (many of their criticisms were based on false assumptions and partial truths). They felt they had the authority to do this because they believed they were spiritually gallant and were now great people in the kingdom of God who had the authority and the ability to judge. Their main reason for this feeling was because materially speaking, things were going well for them, so they felt this was a function of their spiritual might. But they were wrong. They were still spiritual babes who needed to be thought the rudiments of the faith. But with this mindset, they could not be taught and could not be fruitful. Like the church in Laodicea (Rev 3:17), the young church in Corinth began to have a false sense of security because of their worldly wealth. Physically speaking, they were doing well and had money. They thought because of how things were going well for them physically, it was an indication of their advancement and greatness in the kingdom of God. Many of them believed that they had become kings and rulers in the kingdom, and they felt they now had the authority to judge the servants of God and compare one to another(see 1 Cor 4:3-6). But they were wrong, they were still spiritual babes (see 1 Cor 3:1) and were heading for the rocks without the apostolic intervention of Paul. If criticizing ministers of God has become your ‘spiritual gift’, it is a sign of spiritual immaturity and retrogression. Go into today remembering that the real measure of spiritual might is faithfulness and humility. —Chibo E.C.
