Walking above Condemnation

Romans 8:1-2 (KJV) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Until the 13th century, our Bible was not divided into chapters and verses because the scriptures were not written that way. It was Archbishop Stephen Langton and Cardinal Hugo de Sancto Caro that developed different schemas for a systematic division of the Bible in the early 13th century. It is the system of Archbishop Langton that formed the framework on which the modern chapter divisions are based. The first Bible in English to use both chapters and verses was the Geneva Bible published in the year 1560. Till today, the best way to study scripture is not by isolating verses and reading them alone, it is by reading entire sections of scripture to get the main message. I would suggest that in order for a believer to properly understand Romans 8:1, he at least reads Romans 8:1-13 so he can get the thought of Romans 8:1 in the right context. Have you seen certain believers walking in rebellion and saying ‘there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus?’, it is because they have not read that verse in context, or they have suffered from exposure to false teachers who teach licentiousness. We can see from today’s Bible verses that the reason there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus is that the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death. A person still walking under the dominion and law of sin would still walk under condemnation, and that is an act of mercy because if a believer feels no condemnation concerning willful sin, he would soon become spiritually dead without knowing it (see Romans 8:13). Lepers lose their limbs because they first lose the ability to feel pain in their limbs. The ability to feel pain is a protective measure from more danger to the body. The conscience is a protective measure for the spirit of man. The law of sin and death operates in the ambiance of perpetual condemnation, but the law of the spirit of life on in Christ Jesus operates in an ambiance of justification. In order for a believer to walk in the law of the spirit of life (which is the only law/power that can make him free from the dominion/law of sin and death), he must understand that in Christ, he has been justified before God and declared righteous. He has been washed white and clean and has been given a new slate. He is now expected to walk in the newness of mind in accordance with the new life he has received (see Ephesians 4:22-24). Go into today remembering that in Christ, there is freedom from the law of sin and death because the law of the spirit of life is at work within us. If by any chance you dirty your garment, don’t waste time getting it cleaned by repenting and forsaking that defiling sin. And then move on in justification–just as if you have never sinned. Prayer: Lord, help me walk above the condemnation of the flesh and live a life ruled by the Spirit, In Jesus’ name, Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Ephesians 4-6 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Avoid Distractions

1 Corinthians 3:10 (NET) According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master-builder I laid a foundation, but someone else builds on it. And each one must be careful how he builds. As Ebele grew in the knowledge of the Lord, he realized that he also grew in grace. He also realized that the Lord opened greater doors for him to do greater things. But because he had learned his lesson, he was careful not to get involved in things that he wasn’t sure the Lord was leading him to do. This training and carefulness kept him from many distractions that the devil sent his way to weary him. The devil does not usually distract Good people with bad and evil things. He usually distracts Good them with good and noble things, but these things are not what they have received grace to do. He does this because he knows that no matter how good your intentions are, and no matter how noble they are, if it is kingdom work, you would only be wasting your time if you start building without first receiving a pattern from the Lord. Your hard work and labor will not amount to much and would not be a great threat to the kingdom of darkness if the work you are doing was not ordained by the Lord for you to do. Paul was an apostle to the Gentiles, but it was not every gentile nation that the Lord was leading Him to. Go into today remembering that grace always flows in the direction of God’s will. When a person gives himself an assignment because of sheer passion without heavenly sanction, he would have to continue in his strength. This is why there are many fallen soldiers. Prayer: ask the Lord to deliver you from distractions and help you always walk in His will. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Luke 11-12 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. The Need For Obedience

James 4:7 (KJV) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Praise was so full of joy that it radiated out. His countenance was lighted up and his mood changed to a very cheerful one. He continued in this state for days, and even his neighbors noticed. ‘‘What has changed? Praise is now different?’’ One of his neighbors responded, ‘‘Praise has just received Jesus as his savior, and what you are seeing him display is the joy of salvation”. But time passed, and unfortunately, Praise went back to doing some of the evil things he forsook, and the joy left. He became hot-tempered and unfriendly again. Because he wanted the joy and peace back, he would not miss any Church service, would do every assignment committed to him in Church the best way he could, prayed and fasted, but all these did not result in him being joyful. What really went wrong? God’s commandment to every child is ‘obey’ (Ephesians 6:1) and the same applies to every newly born again child of God. After salvation, God expects that every child of His grows to the point where they can willfully submit to him because it is at this point that a man becomes useful to him and this is God’s ultimate aim: learning to obey God is the only route to this. Obedience is what brings us to the point where we can willingly submit to God. This you will achieve after a very long period of obedience. Sadly, only very few ever get to this level in God. We were dead because of sin and our nature was that of the devil. This nature was taken away at salvation, but the corruption in our minds remains. The way God chose to deal with this corruption is by giving us commandments that must be obeyed.z The compendium of these commandments is what is referred to as the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus. After steady and consistent obedience to these commandments, our minds are being renewed by the life that the law of life gives. At the height of this renewal, we gain the ability to now use our will to choose what God wants(our desires become His desires). It is after this that we can submit or offer ourselves to God and this enables us to resist the devil. If you noticed that you often fall into temptations, it could be that you have not been faithful in obeying God. Go into today knowing that it is by obeying God that you gain the ability to submit to God and resist the devil. Prayer: Ask the Lord to empower you with grace to obey him. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: Ezekiel 1-6 Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Standing On His Promises

Psalms 23:6 (KJV) Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Gbemi observed that he was not walking in many of the promises of God. He saw that he was not walking in divine health and there were many other areas of his life where the promises of God were not yet his reality. When this came to his notice, he started wondering and asking why this was the case with him. It didn’t take him long to see that the reason was that he lived daily with a guilty conscience. He worked in a clinic that made most of its profit from performing illegal abortions. Today’s Bible verse begins with the word ‘surely’. If you read Psalm 91:33, you will see that word used again. It says ‘Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler…’ One reason Christians may not walk in the promises of God is that many are not sure that they are qualified for them. Instead of saying ‘surely’ many say ‘probably’, or ‘maybe’. They think about their imperfections and conclude that they cannot walk in the promises. But remember that God’s promises are Yea and Amen in Christ Jesus and not in you (2 Cor 1:20). This means that we can walk in God’s promises because of Christ Jesus, not because of us. It is by faith in Christ (not by faith in our own works) that we receive God’s promise of salvation. It is by that same faith in Christ that we receive every other promise. Go into today remembering that you have the power to walk above anything causing a guilty conscience. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: Proverbs 4 (In Devotional Audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Obey, Simply Obey

Job 36:11-12 (KJV) “If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.” The Lord had brought Israel out of slavery by a strong and mighty hand, they had seen God’s wonders in Egypt and at the red sea and were journeying through the wilderness to possess the land God promised to them for an inheritance; a land flowing with milk and honey. All the while, their part had been to simply obey God’s instructions. At the Passover, when God slew all the firstborns in Egypt, they were spared by simply obeying. They plundered Egypt and went away with great spoil by obeying God and when confronted with crossing the red sea; a feat humanly impossible, they crossed over by simply obeying. Then at Horeb, the Lord said to them, “Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the seaside, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates. Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.” (Deuteronomy 1:7-8 KJV). This time around, they didn’t obey, they chose to send spies to the land and complain. The result was forty years of wandering in the wilderness and ultimately, the death of everyone involved in that disobedience (Numbers 14:32-34). Just the way the Israelites prospered when they obeyed, you also will prosper when you obey. But, when you choose to be wise in your own eyes by adding or taking away from God’s instructions and commandments, you stand the chance of wandering in the wilderness of life. Go into today knowing that, all God requires from you is obedience. Be strong and very courageous, be careful to obey God’s instructions; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go (Joshua 1:7). Prayer: Ask the Lord for the spirit of obedience. —Dr. Emmanuel James Want to be born again? Life in the Spirit

Romans 7:5 (KJV) For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. The law operates within the domain of the mind and all this is ruled by the knowledge of Good and evil. So even though in the old creation, a man under the law of God is far better than a man ruled by his flesh and native impulses or any other human code. When the new creation came, it became an aberration for people to still cling to a life ruled by the law when they can live lives ruled by the Spirit [of life]. Because we are still in a body of flesh, an understanding of the law would be a guide to help us know what the Spirit would never lead us to do, but our hope of salvation should never be based on our ability to keep certain rules and regulations, but based on our relationship with the Spirit of the living God. The earnest/guarantee of our salvation is the Holy Spirit, not the law (see Ephesians 1:14). Those who subscribed to the law only found their minds trained to be more sophisticated and refined in their approach to sin. Because of the flesh, the law did not have the power to kill sin in our hearts so it only helped to make it such that even though we are sinners we would be feeling self-righteous because we have convinced ourselves that we have not broken God’s law. Go into today remembering that the biggest hindrance to a life of grace is dependence on our ability to keep God’s laws as the basis of our justification. Prayer: Lord, help me to live in the Spirit and bring forth fruits unto God (Romans 7:4). —Abraham Damilola Arigi Want to be born again? It Shall Not Come Near You

Psalms 91:7 (NKJV)A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. When the economic recession in Nigeria started, Nnamdi was afraid that he was going to be greatly affected by it because of the nature of his business. He remembered the word of God in today’s Bible verse and decided that he would believe it and live in that reality. One thing he made up his mind he was never going to do was to complain about the bad economy like everybody else did. He would say ‘it is a good economy for me, it is not bad’. That was exactly what he experienced. When some of his major clients defaulted on payments because they could no longer afford to pay, Nnamdi insisted that he was not going down with the economy. Because of his faith and resolve, the Lord gave him the wisdom to become even more profitable than he had ever been. He became wealthier even in the recession. What you believe and say about yourself is very important. The power of life and death is in the tongue (Prov 18:21). Your mouth confesses what your heart believes. And your heart will come to believe what you often say with your mouth. The promise of God in today’s Bible verse has been freely given to you in Christ. You must activate it by faith and expect to see it manifest in your life. Go into today remembering that you are not ordinary. You are the apple of God’s eye (Zech 2:8). Even if thousands around you are falling, it will not come near you. Confession: Evil shall not come near me. I am not a victim but a victor in life. I am a winner in life and my light shines. Predestined for Good Works

Ephesians 2:10 (AMPC) For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]. It wasn’t until Clement accepted the Lord Jesus and was filled with the Holy Spirit that he knew his purpose for living, had a vision for life and was now living a purpose-driven, purpose-filled life. Before this, he only lived for pleasure, and his life was empty and purposeless. In order to satisfy the emptiness of his soul and fulfill his insatiable hunger for pleasure, he was driven into drug addiction. But his mother never stopped praying for him, and his life was transformed when he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ. One of the things the infilling of the Holy Spirit does to the well-taught believer is that it would give him a vision for his life. If you study the Bible properly on the topic of predestination, you would notice that this is usually a discussion reserved for the believer in Christ(see Ephesians 1:4-5, Romans 8:28-30). Most other applications would be contradictory to clear positions of scripture concerning the will of God(1 Timothy 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9, Ezekiel 33:11). God’s predestination does not apply to those who are not yet in His house, His only plan for the sinner is reconciliation and life. From God’s point of view, sinners are dead(Colossians 2:13, Ephesians 2:1, 1 John 3:14, Genesis 2:17). They are not alive, and no one makes plans for people who are dead. Only those recreated in Christ Jesus have the capacity to walk in God’s predefined plans [that are more eternal in expression than time-based]. In today’s Bible verse, we can see that we who are in Christ have been predestined unto good works. Everything you would ever become has already been planned for and arranged by God. The more you align with God’s will, the more you will find that you’re walking in the fullness of His good plans for you. Go into remembering that everything about the good life God has for you in Christ Jesus has already been adequately planned and fully paid for (2 Peter 1:3). All you need to do is receive it by faith with continual thanksgiving. Prayer: Father, help me walk in faith and thanksgiving. Deliver me from all my fears. In Jesus’ name. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Ezekiel 7-12 Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Kindly share this Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. How to Identify Children of God

1 John 3:10 (NET)  By this the children of God and the children of the devil are revealed: Everyone who does not practice righteousness – the one who does not love his fellow Christian – is not of God. Freda and Jane were close friends. They were both 17 when they got into campus. They were both innocent, adventurous, and naive. Freda joined a campus fellowship that was very sound and that had a strong Bible Study emphasis. She joined this fellowship because Shade, her roommate who lived an exemplary Christian life, invited her. But Benard, one of her classmates, invited both her and Jane to join his campus fellowship. This fellowship was more “hip” and “trending”. She hesitated because this same boy was known to be a cheat during tests and exams. Unlike Freda, Jane didn’t mind that Bernard’s conduct left much to be desired. She honored his invitation and started attending his fellowship. According to her, “their music is way better”. Little did Jane know that she was walking into a trap.   Freda was able to keep herself from corruption on that campus because she understood a basic truth that many believers have failed to understand and gotten into needless trouble. Freda understood that anyone who claimed to be a child of God, but who was walking in visible unrighteousness, was not to be trusted as a child of God.   If someone claims to be a Child of God, but you have noticed that, for example, she tells lies quite easily and normally, you will find out through much more serious things she is not a child of God when you make the mistake of committing yourself to her in the belief that she is a child of God.   Go into today remembering the wisdom in today’s Bible verses. Anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, [no matter how much Christianise they speak, or how long they have served in the church]. Know this truth and know peace. —Abraham Damilola ArigiYearly Plan: Luke 9-10 (In Audio Devotional)Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Submit to God

James 4:7 (YLT)Be subject, then, to God; stand up against the devil, and he will flee from you When Clara became born again, she did not realize that accepting Christ as Lord meant she was to be subject to the government of God. She was still the ruler of her life. Because of this, she did not have spiritual power and authority. She would attempt to cast out demons, but they would not answer and the situation would remain the same. She knew this because she was still tormented by demons in her sleep. She realized one day through the study of the word that she was not truly subject to the lordship of Christ. Her life was not regulated by the Spirit of Christ and she knew it. She repented of this and started to live her life according to God’s word. It wasn’t easy at first, but she found that as she became more and more subject to the authority of Christ, she could wield more and more spiritual power. A time came that even the weather would respond to her prayer. She also observed that the demons that tormented her were just no longer there. Many Christians do not walk in their spiritual authority because they do not live under the authority of Christ. The degree to which you are submitted to the authority of Christ is the degree to which you will also use spiritual authority. Christ rules your life by His Word and by His Spirit. If there is anything in your life that is contrary to His word, it is a sign that your life is not fully submitted to His authority. Go into today remembering that it is God’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. This means God wants you to have access to the authority and power in His kingdom. Ask the Lord to help you totally submit to His authority and walk in it too. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: Lamentations 1-5 (In Audio Devotional) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational.
