You Belong to Christ

1 Corinthians 3:21-23 (NET)So then, no more boasting about mere mortals! For everything belongs to you, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future. Everything belongs to you, and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God. After experiencing the dark side of life for many years, Lamide was now humbled and open to accepting the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Someone preached to her and she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Because Lamide understood what it meant to accept Christ as her Lord, she left the house of her boyfriend and rented her own apartment. She repented of all her old foolish ways and became consecrated to the Lord. As she grew, she understood that because Christ was now her Lord, all things that belong to Christ are under her authority. When she prayed, she prayed with this mindset, and she saw the results of her prayers. The evil spell of her enemy was destroyed and she was now free to walk in her glorious destiny. Many times, believers are not powerful because they do not realize that they belong to Christ and all things are under their control because of the authority of Christ they have through submission to Him. Even the devil (the prince of this world) flees when believers who submit to the authority of Christ resist him (see James 4:7). A believer who lives in disobedience to Christ cannot command Christ’s authority because he is not submitted to that authority. Go into today remembering that you belong to Christ and because of this, all things [that belong to Christ] belong to you. Ask the Lord to teach you to walk in this reality. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: I Kings 19-22 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Serve the Lord and Be Free

Exodus 8:1 (KJV) ‘‘And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me”. After spending about four hundred years in Egypt, the children of Israel began to cry to God for freedom because their pains and sufferings were excruciatingly unbearable under the taskmasters of Egypt. God heard their cry and came down to deliver them (Exodus 3:7-8), but He needed a reason for which their deliverance will be justifiable and the reason He found was, “that they may serve me”. The most justifiable reason why you should be free is so you could serve God. So, if you will not serve Him, you are rejecting freedom. Many, after receiving Christ, are victims of oppression because they have not yet been given to the service of God; they have refused God access to certain aspects of their lives, thus giving the devil advantage to oppress them in those areas. The cheapest route to deliverance is getting lost in service to God. Exodus 23:22 (KJV) says ‘‘But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries”. But how will this happen? It is by loving and serving God with all your heart and with all your soul (Deuteronomy 11:13). Exodus 19:5-6 (KJV) reads, ‘‘Now therefore if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation’’ Exodus 23:25-26 (KJV) ‘‘And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfill”. Go into today knowing that freedom will come when you totally release that area of your life under contention to God in service. Prayer: Lord Jesus, I choose to serve you with my all. And as I serve you, I receive all-round freedom. Amen! —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: I Kings 19-22 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Wisdom from Above

1 Corinthians 3:19 (NET)For the wisdom of this age is foolishness with God. As it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness.” As a wise man according to the system of this world, Agu was very good at hustling and grabbing to get. And he thought this same method would advance him in the kingdom of God as it advanced him in the world, but he was sorely wrong. For example, during Holy Communion in church, because he was the head usher, he would insist on taking the leftover bread and wine home because he believed in the power of the communion. There was nothing wrong with this in itself, only that even at times when some people in the church could not get Holy communion because more people attended the service than expected, Agu would still take some ‘leftover’ bread and wine home. Such were his ways even in the church. But after some time, he realized that this kind of wisdom was not helping him advance in spiritual stature, and that(spiritual stature) was what he wanted. There are many things done in the world that many have introduced into their kingdom life, but unknown to them, it is nothing but foolishness in the sight of God. The wisdom of this world is selfish, mean, self-centered, crafty, wicked, deceptive, proud, and ruthless. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere (see James 3:17). It may not look so at the onset, but even in this world, the wisdom that comes from above is better than the wisdom of this world. It yields better fruits because God is still the owner and ruler of heaven and earth. This wisdom links His children with riches that don’t come with sorrows (Prov 10:22). —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Leviticus 7-9 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Avoid Walking in the Flesh

Romans 8:12-13 (NET) So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh (for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live. There is the sad but true story of a pastor’s wife who became adulterous and rebellious. With time she denied the faith and became an atheist. This happened because as she continued to unrepentantly walk in the flesh, she died spiritually. When a believer continuously walks in the flesh (by committing sinful acts) in open rebellion, that believer is committing sin leading unto [spiritual] death. We are instructed in 1 John 5:16 not to even waste our prayers on such believers. Some argue that those who have denied the faith did so because they were never really truly saved in the first place, but there is no scripture to back that assertion, only sentiments. But there are scriptures that clearly say people fall away(Hebrews 10:39, 6:4-6), deny the faith(1 Timothy 5:8), have a shipwreck of the faith(1 Timothy 1:19), and die spiritually (Romans 8:13, Revelation 3:1-2), etc. We can learn from today’s Bible verse that the reason for this is continuing to walk in the flesh. Walking in the flesh leads to spiritual death. Faith in God is a most precious treasure (see 1Peter 1:7), one that we should fight to keep (see 1 Timothy 6:12). But one can lose this priceless treasure if by walking unrepentantly in the flesh, he continues to violate his conscience. Faith is spiritual and the sensor of the human spirit is the conscience. A ship with damaged sensors would have a shipwreck. When you see someone who was once a believer getting to a point where he denies the faith, it usually is because he died spiritually due to walking in the flesh and continuous violation of his conscience (see 1 Timothy 1:19). One of the biggest dangers of doctrines that make believers comfortable in their sins (while invoking ‘grace’ and refusing to repent) is that some of such believers can come to a point of denying the faith because they have walked in the flesh unrepentantly for so long to the point of spiritual death. Sin is antithetical to faith, and the devil understands this too well. He understands that if he can get believers to walk in the flesh long enough without repenting, Sin will gradually erode their faith until a time comes when they longer have the ability to believe in God. This is one of the scariest things that can ever happen but it is happening all the time, and the scriptures predict that it will happen on a large scale as a sign leading to the revelation of the antichrist (see 2 Thessalonians 2:3). Go into today remembering that willful and unrepentant sinning is an act of unbelief towards God. Continuing in such a circle can bring a believer to the point where he no longer has the ability to believe in God. Prayer: Lord, help me to maintain a clear conscience before you and before all men. Deliver me from every sin, in Jesus’ name. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Philippians 1-2 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Builder or Destroyer

1 Corinthians 3:17 (NET)If someone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, which is what you are. Pastor Gbade’s joy was not full because he had godless and unruly children. He kept wondering why God did not save his children and do the one thing he wanted the most in life. He decided to take time again to seek the face of the Lord concerning this matter. After praying for three days and crying to the Lord concerning his godless children, the Lord told him that “He that destroys my temple I will destroy”. Immediately, he understood that the problem was because of the deceitful way he had handled the word of God all these years. Unlike Apostle Paul, he couldn’t say “we have not handled the word of God deceitfully”(1 Cor 4:2). He had taught things and done things he knew were wrong just because they would bring in more money. Notice that just before Apostle Paul wrote today’s Bible verse, he wrote about those whose work (as ministers among the Corinthians) will be found to be wanting will suffer loss on judgment day. He is now giving the real reason why this can happen. You see, it is a big deal to God for His children to suffer loss. But this can happen if these children are found to have destroyed His temple rather than build it. Those whose works will burn up on judgment day were not really builders, they are destroyers disguised as builders. When a minister gathers people and refuses to feed them with the sincere milk [and meat] of God’s word, but rather feeds them with adulterated and tainted milk, such a minister is a destroyer of God’s temple rather than a builder. That is why such will suffer loss on judgment day and only be saved as though through the fire. Go into today asking the Lord to help you build accurately so that you would receive a reward and not relegation. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Luke 13-14 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. You Are God’s Temple

1 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV)Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? Franca was facing a lot of attacks that made her weary and almost paranoid. She knew that the enemy of her soul was out to destroy her, but she did not seem to have enough strength to resist the assault against her soul. One day, as she was reading the Bible, she saw that she had marked 1 Cor 3:16, so she read it again and again. After reading it about seven times, it dawned on her that no one could destroy her because she was the temple of the Lord. This was the word from the Lord that gave her victory over that battle. You see, God does not play with the temple that He dwells in. Anyone who attempts to destroy His temple will be inviting a battle from God Himself. No one can stand this. It is important for you to know who God has made you and know the things that have been freely given to you. This is one of the reasons the Holy Spirit was given to you. He facilitates this kind of knowledge (see 1 Corinthians 2:12). This Knowledge activates faith, and it is through faith that we take possession of what we have been given by the Lord. Go into today remembering that you are the temple of the living God. You are precious in God’s sight, and because of this, no one can destroy you (whether man or demon): No one can destroy your finances, your marriage, your career, your health, your business, etc. Prayer: thank you Lord for making me your temple. I ask for Strength to keep your temple holy. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Ezekiel 7-12 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Addiction, what is it?

Proverbs 25:28 (ESV), “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls”. Merriam Webster’s Dictionary defines addiction as, “a compulsive, chronic, physiological or psychological need for a habit-forming substance, behavior, or activity having harmful physical, psychological, or social effects and typically causing well-defined symptoms (such as anxiety, irritability, tremors, or nausea) upon withdrawal or abstinence”. But, what can we glean from the scriptures about addiction? “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls”. Proverbs 25:28 ESV. “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life”. Proverbs 4:23 ESV Gleaning from the quoted scriptures, addiction is obviously a product of a lack of self-control consequent upon an unguarded heart or lack of vigilance. Simply put, to be addicted is to be enslaved by one’s appetite. Should a child of God be addicted? No. Are there children of God who are addicted? Oh, Yes! Is being addicted a hopeless case? No, it isn’t. Jesus in Matthew 13:24-25 (KJV), put forth a parable saying, “The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.” You see, you’re not weak because you were ordained to be weak, you’re weak because you lost control of your strength; you slept. Are you addicted and desire freedom? Wake up from your sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you (Ephesians 5:14). Remember that Christ is in you and He is greater than addictions. Prayer: Lord Jesus, shine your light on my darkness. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: Proverbs 5-6 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. God’s Kingdom Reward System

1 Corinthians 3:14-15 (NKJV)If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. Some have said that as long as they escape hellfire, they are fine, they do not need any reward. Some have even quoted the psalmist by saying they would rather be a doorkeeper in God’s house than dwell in the tents of wickedness. They fail to realize that in this, the psalmist was talking about service in God’s house (Doorkeepers are servants) — service for which an eternal reward would be due. Anyone who tries to downplay the reality of service and reward in the kingdom of God does this because he does not understand the kingdom. Many times Jesus taught about the kingdom of God, He taught about service and reward in the kingdom (Matt 5:12, Luke 19:11-27, Matt 25:14-30, etc). Somebody once argued that seeing the kingdom of God was the same thing as inheriting the kingdom of God. I simply asked if the word ‘see’ and ‘inherit’ meant the same thing. On the day we [believers] stand before the Lord to give an account of our stewardship here on earth, some will receive rewards while others will suffer loss. Some will sit with the Lord on thrones and rule the universe with Him forever, but others will not have that privilege. They will suffer loss because even though it was their destiny as sons of God to inherit the kingdom of God [as joint-heirs with Christ], their work has disqualified them from their inheritance and thrones. They would be saved but would have lost their inheritance through the fire of judgment. Go into today remembering that how we spend our relatively short time here would determine how we would spend the rest of eternity. Not yet saved? How to Identify Children of God 2

1 John 3:10 (NET) By this the children of God and the children of the devil are revealed: Everyone who does not practice righteousness – the one who does not love his fellow Christian – is not of God. Jane was 17 years old, innocent, and naive when she got into campus. She was very trusting and quite carefree. Bernard, her classmate who invited her to join his campus fellowship also wanted to be her boyfriend. He was much older than her and she wasn’t comfortable with his request because she wasn’t sure the relationship wouldn’t end up in immorality. She was brought up to keep herself pure. It was June 13th and Bernard’s birthday was approaching. He threw a big birthday party and Jane was his special invited guest. Freda had agreed to join Jane to attend the party, but she saw the party flyer on Facebook and decided such a party was not appropriate for a daughter of God. Jane was offended at the last-minute cancellation by Freda and wasn’t ready to listen to her explanation. She went with Memunat instead (her other roommate who was more than happy to join her). Unknown to Jane and Memunat, Bernard and his friends had drugged the food and drinks they were served at the party. In a matter of minutes, Jane and Memunat were drowsy and lost control of their faculties. Bernard and his friends took advantage of this and molested them. Jane woke up in Bernard’s bathroom by 3:30 am the next morning. She wept for days, realizing what had been done to her. Memunat was more experienced with that kind of life. She found her way to the hostel after realizing what was happening. Two months later, Jane found out that she was pregnant. She didn’t know the father of the baby because she was raped by Bernard and all his friends. She also later found out that she had contracted HIV. The once innocent, brilliant, and cheerful Jane became a depressed suicidal maniac because she trusted a classmate who professed to be a believer, but who didn’t demonstrate any corresponding fruit. Bernard was a very committed tongue-speaking member of a popular campus fellowship. But he was also living a life of unrighteousness. All his friends were “Yahoo Boys” and cultists– he did not love the brethren but loved [to keep company] with unbelievers. He was not a child of God but Jane was deceived to think he was one because he spoke in tongues. Go into today remembering that the way to know a true child of God is by his fruits of righteousness. Don’t be deceived, a good tree does not produce bad fruits. —Abraham Dami Arigi Bible in 1 Year: I Kings 14-18 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Delivered, Yet Not Free

John 8:31-32 (ESV), “So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free”. For many years the children of Israel were in bondage, after several years of crying and praying to God, he showed up for them, broke their bonds, and brought them out of Egypt. Sadly, only two out of about six hundred thousand men who left Egypt entered the promised Land. Why couldn’t they enter the promised land, having been delivered by such a mighty display of God’s power? Many, like the children of Israel, encountered God’s saving power in certain dramatic ways and were set on a course; the journey of salvation, but are now weak, beggarly, and defeated. The power they once encountered seems incapable to carry them through, why is this so? Deliverance is instantaneous, a one-time show of force by a greater power over the lesser; the demon leaves at a command, the yoke is broken by the power of God and the Spirit of God comes, all of which can happen within a second. Freedom however is not instantaneous, it is produced consequent upon continuity, requiring long-term participation of the delivered, he must exert effort and cultivate a load of virtues such as obedience, patience, endurance, faith, discipline, etc. Jesus in our text, said to the Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. You see, freedom comes from knowing the truth, and knowing the truth requires that you abide or continue with Jesus, the one who brought about your deliverance. Do you desire lasting deliverance? Do you want to be free? If you do, you will make all efforts to continue (keep obeying) in the word (instructions) of God. Go into today knowing that, If you relax after being delivered, you will soon get entangled. Prayer: Father, let your spirit keep working in me, to will and to do according to your good pleasure in Jesus’ name, amen! —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: Leviticus 4-6 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational.
