How Many False Prophets And Teachers Do You Know?

Matthew 7:15 (KJV), “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” “My son, make sure you don’t go beyond our boundaries when cultivating the land”, Chief Chukwudi told Patrick his cousin who just arrived in the village. After hearing this, Patrick cleared a portion, cultivated and planted in it. After some months, one of the Chief’s kinsmen came complaining, “Chief, why are you taking my inheritance away from me? Your son Patrick has encroached terribly on my plot of land”. “Sorry, I will check”, Chief Chukwudi responded. When Chief got to the farm, he found that the complaint was valid so he quickly called for Patrick. “Patrick, didn’t I tell you not to go beyond the boundaries?” “Yes, you did, but I didn’t know the boundaries, I never knew I went beyond it”, Patrick responded. “You’re right, you were only a child the last time you visited the village, I should have shown you the boundaries,” said Chief. The blame wasn’t Patrick’s because he wasn’t shown the boundaries. Jesus however warned us about false prophets and teachers and showed us how to know them. So, if you fall prey to them, it will be your fault and not Jesus’. But why should I concern myself about false prophets and teachers? Someone may ask. You should, because Jesus said, “beware of false prophets”. In Matthew 24:11 (KJV) Jesus says, “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many”. In Matthew 24:24 (KJV), He warns again: “there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect” and in 1 Peter 2:1, we saw it being fulfilled; “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you…”. If Jesus warned you against them, how many do you know? If you don’t know any, you’re either a victim already or about to be. Go into today knowing that false prophets and teachers are not included in “touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm”. They were never God’s anointed! Prayer: Lord Jesus, just like you warned, help me to beware of false prophets and teachers. What is man?

Hebrews 2:6-9 (NET) Instead someone testified somewhere: “What is man that you think of him or the son of man that you care for him? You made him lower than the angels for a little while. You crowned him with glory and honor. You put all things under his control.” For when he put all things under his control, he left nothing outside of his control. At present we do not yet see all things under his control, but we see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by God’s grace he would experience death on behalf of everyone. The way today’s Bible verse started is quite unusual because normally when New Testament writers quote Old Testament writers, it usually would go like this: Romans 11:9 (NET) And David says, “Let their table become a snare and trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them. But that’s not the case here. The Psalm from which the quote in Hebrews 2:6 above was taken is attributed to David(Psalm 8), and I’m sure the writer of Hebrews knew this very well, but he is saying here that ‘someone testified somewhere’. This is quite unusual. There is no other place in the New Testament that uses this language in reference to Old Testament scripture. Some have asserted that the quote is not credited to men but to angels, that it was a conversation between angels that was captured by the psalmist through the spirit of prophecy. Maybe that’s why the writer of Hebrews didn’t attribute the quote to David but said “someone testified somewhere”. Thinking about it critically, it makes sense for angels to be asking this all-important question: “[w]hat is Man?” Seeing the way God (the creator and sustainer of all things) is mindful of man, it is an all-important question. The way to decode scripture is with scripture and not with human worldly reasoning. If you read Psalm 8:4-6, and now read today’s Bible verses, your understanding of Psalms 8:4-6 will be broader and much more accurate. In today’s Bible verses, we see the progression of the experiences of man. Man was made lower than the angels (this was because of the fall). But Man would be crowned with glory and honor, and God would put all things under man’s control. But today, we do not yet see all things under man’s control, but we see Jesus, who is a man, crowned with glory and honor. Today, Jesus is the only man with this stature of glory and honor, but during the resurrection, all His saints would receive this stature– that includes you and me, if we hold unwaveringly to the hope that we confess, for the One who made the promise is trustworthy (see Hebrews 10:23). Jesus is the only hope and lifeline through which Man can fulfill his eternal destiny of ruling over the universe with God, He is the only man that has overcome the powers that hinder Man from fulfilling his glorious destiny, and through Him, we who believe in Him are overcomers. Go into today remembering that those who believe in [and abide in] Christ would get to fulfill man’s glorious eternal destiny. This destiny is so glorious that human communication is not suitable enough to describe it (see 1 Corinthians 2:9). Prayer: Thank you Lord for Your great plans for me. Please help me walk in them and please you in all things. Amen. Want to be saved? Vigilance mode activated

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour When Ele traveled to the village during the Christmas holidays last year, it was amidst a lot of prayers and spiritual diligence. You see, she had come to know of the spiritual wickedness that existed in that village. She remembered the stories her grandmother told her about the escapades of the witches in that village; she remembered what they did to her second cousin who became temporarily insane because he visited the village and was careless. While Ele was in the village, she was very vigilant and prayerful. She avoided unnecessary conversations and avoided arguments and quarrels. Things that normally would have got her angry were overlooked because she was in “vigilance mode”. She refused to watch any movie that was not spiritually edifying, and she was always in a prayer mode. Ele visited the village and came back to the city after the wedding she went to attend. She was unscathed and her spirit even became stronger while she was in the village for two weeks. During this period, her faith was stronger and she was even physically healthier than she had been in a long time. Her asthma inhaler was never touched for those two weeks (something she used to need to use almost on a daily basis). Ele was sober and vigilant while she was in the village because she realized that she had enemies there who were looking for how to devour her. Her prayer and word life experienced a boost because of this. The truth is that every believer is to be as sober and vigilant as Ele was while she was in the village because as long as we dwell in this world, Satan, the prince of this world, is our adversary who roams around like a roaring lion seeking for whom to devour. From today’s Bible verse we see that we are to be in “vigilance mode” while we live our days in this world. This is the way to stay unscathed and even prosper, despite the roaming and roaring of the devil. Being sober does not mean being afraid or anxious, it means being wise and intentional about dwelling in the presence of God and avoiding anything that could defile or weaken you spiritually. Go into today remembering that the only way to pass through this world prosperously and unscathed as a child of the kingdom is for you to heed the warning of today’s Bible verse.  Activate your vigilance mode and never deactivate it again. Prayer: Lord, please help me to be sober and vigilant at all times. Help me never fall prey to the wickedness of the enemy, but rather prosper in their midst. The Key to Answered Prayers 2

John 15:7-8 (NET) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you. My Father is honored by this, that you bear much fruit and show that you are my disciples. Ekene used to be very depressed and unhappy. He was always competing with his peer group from his village and did not have peace of mind. It wasn’t until he accepted the Lord Jesus and was determined to abide in Him that he knew true peace of mind for the first time in his adult life. For the first time, he was committed to a church assembly and was accountable to the brethren there. He was also committed to living a life that pleases the Lord in all things and to grow in the knowledge of the Lord. Ekene became a subject of the kingdom of God and started reaping the benefits of eternal life because he remained in Christ and did not go back to the world like all the previous times he had come out to receive the Lord Jesus. He also now started enjoying divine health and was one that now prayed and God answered his prayers. Any believer who does not abide in the Lord would be unfruitful and this would not be the Lord’s fault. One reason why God answers our prayers and will do as we ask is that we too have been living under His authority and are doing as He commands. God does not respond to those who do not respond to Him in obedience. As you go into the day, remember that you are not alone in this world if Christ is your Lord. Remember that the secret of your success now dwells in your connection to Christ and your meditation on His word. Prayer: Lord, please help me remain in you and let your word rule my life. Empower me to be fruitful in every good work and please you in all regards. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Psalms 108-110 Streamglobe is nondenominational and interdenominational. The Blessedness Of Serving The Lord

Luke 17:10 (NET) “So you too, when you have done everything you were commanded to do, should say, ‘We are slaves undeserving of special praise; we have only done what was our duty.” Many African countries suffered from the slave trade movement. During that period, once a man was sold out as a slave, he lost his identity and freedom. He couldn’t own a property and could do only what his master wanted. Whenever he did contrary, he suffered horrible punishments, even painful death. Those slaves were sold into slavery against their will, yet they went through that terrible ordeal. Man however sold himself into slavery by his own will when he committed treason against God in the garden of Eden. Through disobedience, man became a slave to sin and was condemned to death (Romans 6:16). Jesus came however and bought us by his blood, giving his life as an exchange for ours and we became God’s property. We also are to do the will of the one who bought us (our master), but with a big difference; God himself helps us to do what he wants (Philippians 2:13), making it impossible for us to fail if we allow Him. This is great blessedness! Another blessedness is the blessing of living above the power of curses and Satan and this is because curses and Satan will bow to us as long as God is working in us and we are submitted to Him(James 4:7, Like 10:19). The third blessedness is that of rewards. Unlike the African slaves who couldn’t own anything, God wants us to have all that Christ has (Matthew 6:33, 1 Corinthians 3:21-22), He wants us to be where He is (John 12:26) and He will reward us if we serve Him diligently (Hebrews 11:6). You see, service to God is an opportunity to get blessed. Let this blessing change the way you respond to the opportunities you have to serve God. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please give me the grace to serve you acceptably, so I can enjoy all the blessedness of serving you. The Christian and the Law

Ephesians 2:15 (NET) …when he nullified in his flesh the law of commandments in decrees. He did this to create in himself one new man out of two, thus making peace Christians are not under the 613 laws of Moses, nor are we even under the Ten Commandments. We are under THE LAW OF CHRIST. 1 Corinthians 9:21 (KJV) To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the LAW [OF] CHRIST,) that I might gain them that are without law. Galatians 6:2 (KJV) Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the LAW OF CHRIST. Of the Ten Commandments, Jesus and His apostles reiterated nine and ignored that of the Sabbath (there are reasons for this, but that’s not our topic today). The Lord gave other instructions that were not captured by the Law of Moses. Instructions like ‘turn the other cheek’ or ‘do not repay evil for evil’, etc, were not part of the Ten Commandments, but are part of the commandments of Christ (Law of Christ). Anyone who has accepted Christ as His Lord will obey His commandments. For those who love Him keep His commandments (see John 14:15, John 14:21, John 15:10). As for the matter of tithing, it is the prerogative of your church assembly. If they pay tithes in your church assembly, then you should pay tithes. Just as with other matters like dress codes, you should obey the rules of your church assembly. And yes, it is rebellion (even before God) when a Christian disobeys the rules of his church assembly if those rules are not in violation of the law of Christ. The last time I checked, tithing didn’t violate any commandment of Christ. As a matter of fact, a time Jesus mentioned it, He didn’t seem to discourage it (see Matthew 23:23). Go into today knowing that grace is not a license to be lawless. Grace delivers people from the law of sin (and death) and brings them under the law of life (Rom 8:1-3). —Pastor SD Abraham Bible in 1 Year: Numbers 17-20 Streamglobe is nondenominational and interdenominational. The Key to Answered Prayers

John 15:7 (NET) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you. After Ekene believed in the Lord Jesus and submitted himself to discipleship, he was excited to learn the truth in John 15:7. He was excited because he knew that because he was now abiding in the Lord, there was nothing he requested that God was not going to give him. So he went ahead to ask the Lord for the dream car he had always fantasized about having. After waiting for the car to come for months, it became evident to him that the Lord was not going to grant that particular request at that time. He was quite confused so he decided to ask his pastor why God did not grant his request even though he was now abiding in Christ. His pastor asked him a simple question that he knew he could not answer. “I know you’re now abiding in the Lord and it is evident because you have repented and are now abiding in His church which is his body. But is His word truly abiding in you?” Ekene knew that even though he could claim that he was now abiding in Christ, the word of Christ was not yet richly dwelling in him and he could not make claim to the promise of John 15:7. He thus was now determined to study the word, listen to sermons, read books – apply all diligence to fill his heart with the word of Christ ( Colossians 3:16). What he observed as this happened was that his desires started changing. He observed that buying a Lamborghini was no longer a priority in his life. He now desired only the things that God desires and he realized that because his desires and the Lord’s desires were now the same, it was easy for him to get his requests from God because they now aligned with His will. God does not usually answer prayers that are outside His will (1 John 5:14). The surest way to get answered prayers is to ensure that your requests are within the ambit of God’s will. The word of God is God’s tool by which he sanctifies us and changes us into His nature so that his will naturally becomes our will. Any believer that does not give priority to building his life according to God’s word will discover that many of his prayers will not be answered, and he will be unfruitful. Go into today remembering that allowing the word of Christ to dwell in you richly is the only way to prosper in His kingdom. It is not an option for the believer, it is the only way to grow. Prayer: Lord, from this day, help me give more priority to your word that I may become more like you. Deliver me from all the distractions that seek my affection. —SD Abraham Bible in 1 Year: John 13-15 (in today’s audio)Streamglobe is nondenominational. Find Grace Before Trouble Comes

Hebrews 4:15-16 (KJV) “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” It had been seven years since Stephen believed, but he was still struggling with the same sins. He had cried, prayed, fasted, and confessed it to God and to brethren so many times, but It just didn’t go away. At some point, he thought he wasn’t genuinely born again, so he answered the call to rededicate his life to Jesus with the hope that the long-standing sin will be conquered, but, that also did not work. Since he’d tried all that he thought he knew, he gave up. “I’ll never be able to overcome this sin, I’ll just keep asking for forgiveness whenever I commit it”, he concluded. Many youngsters like Stephen have quit trying and others have found solace in false teachings that soothe their condition of defeat. teachings that say things like: “sin is no longer a problem, it won’t take a man to hell, because it’s has been destroyed” Can one truly be free from sin? Yes, because the Bible says so: “sin shall have no dominion over you” (Romans 6:14). But How do I come to this state? From today’s text, it is clear that both mercy and grace are available at the throne of grace. If you’ve ever been forgiven, it happened because you obtained God’s mercy and that was possible because you accessed the throne of grace. Many, however, who obtained mercy at the throne of grace did not wait to find grace before leaving, thus, when the time of need arrived, they failed. So, if all you get is forgiveness (mercy), you will fail again when confronted with the same sin or issue, because, mercy is God’s distress response, it gets you out of distress on a ‘per time’ basis. His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). Grace however must be obtained before the day of need or trouble. Grace gives the ability to resist sin and to overcome it. This ability must be learned, thus requiring time, unlike mercy, which is instantaneous. Remember that it is grace that teaches us how to live righteously, godly and sober lives in this present world(Titus 2:11-12), and time is needed if learning must be accomplished. Go into today determined to remain at the throne of grace until you have found grace to help in time of need. Prayer: Father, help me to wait upon you until the grace for my need comes in Jesus’ name. Amen! —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: Joel (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. This One Will Last

1 Corinthians 9:25 (NET) Each competitor must exercise self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one. Joe’s shoe had given way during the Camp Meeting. He was quite chagrined because this was the third footwear that had disappointed him so in the space of 12 months. This time around, he decided to go shoe-shopping with his friend Mayowa. When they got to the shoe section of the market, every shoe seller was jostling for their patronage. Joe and Mayowa settled for the shop of the man with the widest smile. When they got inside, they saw shoes of all sizes and colors. Two particular pairs caught the eyes of Joe and the shop owner quickly took them off the rack for more close inspection by his customers. One was brown, made of leather with an adjustable strap. The other was black, shiny, and in good condition. Upon inquiry, the shop owner stated the prizes of the shoes and Mayowa noted with surprise, that the brown shoes cost almost three times the cost of the black shoes. He was minded to go for the cheaper option when Mayowa leaned over holding the brown shoes and whispered into his ears: “But this one will last longer”. You see, in life, more often than not, the more durable a thing is, the more valuable it is considered. This is why a man living with an eternal perspective is more likely to live more wisely as his sense of value will be impacted by his outlook. It is no wonder Jesus asked, “what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul” (See Mark 8:36-37), because Jesus understood that a man’s soul is more valuable than the riches the world has to offer, indeed, man will practically outlast this world. This understanding will inspire the wisdom of self-control in your personal dealings. If you know this at a heart level, you will exercise restraint and not be quick to jump at every supposed gain this world advertises or promotes. You will relegate anxiety to the background and give yourself to the disciplines that the call of God demands. There is an imperishable “gold medal” for those who run this race well; there is a crown for those who will be faithful to Jesus till the end. Go into today geared up to run this race exercising self-control over your desires and body until you win the crown because this one will last…forever. Prayer: Lord, help me never forget that my soul is far more precious than anything this present world is offering (Mark 8:36-37). —Ikechukwu Mpama Bible in 1 Year: Proverbs 22 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. A Blessed People

Galatians 3:13-14 (NET) Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us (because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”) in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles, so that we could receive the promise of the Spirit by faith. Folake heard that there was a curse-breaking all-night service in a church down the street. Even though she had a very busy week, she was determined to attend the service and prayerfully rid herself of every generational curse and limitation in her life. She was not surprised when she got to the service and found the place packed full. When the preacher asked those who wanted to be free from curses to come out for prayers, practically everyone came out. But after Folake accepted the Lord Jesus and gave herself to the sound teaching of the word, she understood that she had been redeemed from all curses and that she was now blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places because she was now a member of the body of Christ(see Ephesians 1:3). She also understood that abiding in Christ was the key to inheriting His blessings. As she started believing that she was blessed and confessing the blessings over her life regularly, she started practically walking in the manifestation of the blessing. Her health was restored and she now enjoyed God’s favor, peace, and prosperity. It is true that every other nation of the world is operating under the curse of the law because they are guilty of breaking the law of God, but if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away, and all things become new. Because you are in Christ, you are part of His new holy Nation. “[Y]ou are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9). Go into today remembering that if you abide in Christ, you have been redeemed from every curse, and you are entitled to all of God’s blessings. Remember that just like you may have been walking in the consciousness of curses, it is now more important for you to remember that you are blessed and walk in the consciousness of the blessing. The blessing is activated and appropriated by faith. Remind yourself every day that you are blessed and confess it. Confession is one of the basic actions of faith(see 2 Cor 4:13, Rom 10:19) Prayer: Thank you Father for redeeming me from every curse. Please help me walk in the consciousness of my blessings and appropriate them in Jesus’ name. Amen. —SD Abraham Bible in 1 Year: Psalms 105-107 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational.
