Not Under the Law But Not Lawless

1 Corinthians 9:21 (NET) To those free from the law I became like one free from the law (though I am not free from God’s law but under the law of Christ) to gain those free from the law. When Ronke got to the university, she met some ‘brethren’ who taught that believers are not under the law therefore sin no longer exists for the believer. The result of this doctrine was that sexual immorality was rampant in that fellowship. Some members of the fellowship were cultists, and some of the ladies were call-girls. Ronke who was brought up in the way of righteousness now started despising her upbringing and believing that her parents were not knowledgeable in the ‘mysteries of the gospel’. She continued to say this until she had her 4th abortion and ruptured her womb. During this period, she almost died and was hospitalized for weeks. None of her fellowship sisters or brothers showed up at the hospital. The only person that kept coming was her roommate (who attended a fellowship Ronke despised because she said they were still under the law in that fellowship). This was when the scales fell off Ronke’s eyes. In an attempt to preach to believers that they are no more under the [old covenant] law, many have preached lawlessness and produced lukewarm half-baked believers who are potent tools in the hand of the enemy against the advancement of God’s kingdom because they are a bad example and are a major hindrance to many seekers of truth from finding the truth of the gospel. This is the reason why Jesus would have preferred for such lukewarm ‘believers’ to be cold (unbelievers). At least they would not be a stumbling block (Rev 3:15-16). Go into today remembering that even though you are not under the Old Testament law, you are not lawless but are under the law of Christ. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible: Psalms 119 (In today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. Knowing Jesus As The Way

John 14:6 {KJV) “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”. “If you have just said that prayer with me and believe it in your heart, you are now saved and has become a member of the kingdom of God. Congratulations!” said the preacher the day Jude became born again, there were at least a hundred persons who said this prayer. The joy of the Lord filled Jude’s heart and he exclaimed “ I’m free! I’m free! I think there’s something inside me generating joy!” Jude and the other new converts were handed over to a Pastor who began his talk with them from today’s passage. He said, “if you want to travel to a place you need to know the road to that place, then you have to travel on that road continually until you get to your destination. Every one of you has found the road and have started walking in it, you also have to continue on this road because if you stop or turn away from this path, you will not get to the destination” If Jesus has become your Lord, you have found Jesus as the way, but continuing in Him is what guarantees eternal life. Are you saying a one-time confession of Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior does not guarantee eternal life? No, it does not. It however initiates the process by justifying you before God, thus making you a potential candidate for inheriting God’s kingdom. So, how is eternal life guaranteed? It is by continuing in the way that you have now found. Jesus says “…if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed” John 8:31 (KJV). He also said in Matthew 10:22 that, “he that endureth to the end shall be saved”. Go into today knowing that you have to patiently continue on this way if you must obtain the promised eternal life (Hebrews 10:36). Prayer: make up your mind to continue with Jesus, then, ask him for grace to do so. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: II Chronicles 16-20 Streamglobe is nondenominational. The Working of Faith 2

Ephesians 6:2-3 (NET) “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment accompanied by a promise, namely, “that it may go well with you and that you will live a long time on the earth.”   Because of what his discipler taught him, Joe understood that the promises of prosperity and long days were going to be activated in his life when he got rid of his bitterness and begin to honor his parents. After he overcame the bitterness in his heart through the help of the Holy Spirit and started honoring his parents by showing them respect and giving them gifts regularly, he started regularly confessing the promise of God that he would see good days on the earth. He had the faith to expect the manifestation of this promise in his life because he knew that by faith, he was now meeting the condition of this promise. God’s promises give us hope(an expectation), and faith gives substance to this hope(see Hebrews 11:1). For example, a person believes that he is healed through the stripes of Jesus because he has placed his faith in Jesus. That is hope. But he needs to give substance to this hope in order for him to receive his healing. One of the ways to give substance to your hope is by confessing what you hope for. Your confession becomes an act of faith. It now gives substance to what you hope for.   In mark 11:23, we can see that it is if a person believes and speaks according to what he believes that he will receive what he believes. The easiest way to give substance to your hope is by speaking it out. But you would not have the boldness to effectively do this if you are walking in disobedience. Go into today remembering that faith is the action that accompanies the hope we receive from God’s word. Prayer: ask the Lord to help you understand His promises and the conditions to receive them so that your faith will be boosted to receive all His promises for you. —Pst. The Working of Faith 1

Ephesians 6:2-3 (NET) “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment accompanied by a promise, namely, “that it may go well with you and that you will live a long time on the earth.” After Joe became a believer in Christ Jesus, one of the things he learned was that he was to honor his parents. He was at odds with his parents because he believed they did not make any effort to give him a bright future. They did not send him to school. The little education he got, he got because of his strong desire and determination to break the circle of poverty. But even though he had been working really hard, he still struggled to live above poverty. He broke all contact with his parents because of the bitterness in his heart towards them. After being a believer for some time, it became clear to him that he was operating under a demonic yoke of poverty and lack. As he discussed this with his discipler, the Holy Spirit revealed to his discipler that this yoke of poverty was only able to operate in his life because of the bitterness in his heart towards his parents [that led to him disobeying an express comamd of the Lord]. After Joe forgave his parents and started honoring them, the yoke was destroyed and his business started operating under an open heaven. The first commandment with a promise in scripture is that children honor their parents. We have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3), but the way to transmit these blessings to our earthly experiences is by the promises of God. 2 Peter 1:4 reveals that through the promises of God, we can partake of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. God’s promises are based on His conditions, that’s why they cannot be claimed by anyone but only by those who meet His conditions. As long as a person can meet the condition of any of God’s promises, he can appropriate it by faith in the name of Jesus. Go into today remembering that if a person truly abides in Christ [and lives as such], he would live in such a way that all the promises of God will find expression in his life. [For those abiding] in Christ Jesus, all the promises of God are yea and Amen (see 2 Corinthians 1:20). Prayer: Lord, help me abide in you and activate all your promises for me by faith. —Pst. Living As The Family Of God

Ephesians 3:14-15 KJV For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named. Rose lost her parents at the age of seven, this made life really hard for her. She lived with a couple who were members of her parent’s Church, but they turned her to their house help. They did not send her to school, beat her up for every and any mistake, used curse words on her, and threatened her to never complain to anyone. When a neighbor confronted them, their response was “we can’t kill ourselves for another person’s child”. This couple mistreated Rose because they did not understand that they belong in the same family. They did not know that they and Rose are God’s children and because they are older, their Father (God) wanted them to take care of Rose (who is their younger sister) for Him. When God wanted an earthly family, He sent Jesus Christ, and by believing in Him, we became His brethren. “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren” Romans 8:29 (KJV). Now that you are a member of God’s family, it is required of you to grow this family. You will do this by bringing new people into the family and/or caring for other members of this great family. Jesus says: “by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” John 13:35 (KJV). If you have been treating God’s children badly because they are not members of your biological family, denomination, or not within your circle, know that you have not been treating God well. Go into today knowing that if they are children of God, they are your brothers and sisters and God expects you to treat them well for His sake. Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me love and relate with your children like I would want to be loved. I pray this in Jesus’ name. What does God want? Family

Ephesians 3:15 KJV “Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named” Didn’t God know that man will rebel? Why did He create man? Why won’t He just give up on him after the rebellion? Why did He painstakingly create a way of reconciling man to Himself? The need to be loved and to love seem to be the greatest need of mankind. A man will do the unthinkable to secure the affection of others, the case of a man loving a woman is a typical example; he just cannot rest until he has gotten the one he loves. Our Bible text describes an important attribute of God; He loves to have a family. There are already members of His family in heaven(believers who have fallen asleep) and others on earth. This is the reason He made man; He wants an eternal family. The devil however interfered with this wish of God before he had executed it, and like a man in love who will not give up on the one he loves, God did not give up on man. Because He desires a family, he instituted little pockets of the family; a man, his wife, and their children. But this failed because of the corruption of the fall. So He chose Israel and brought Jesus out of her who in turn founded another family; the Church. The first family failed because the head– man failed, but this new family will not fail because Christ Himself is the head, and He did not fail. It is now sure that God’s initial desire will be actualized. The big question however is, are you a part of this family? If you are, have you recognized that everyone who belongs in this family is your sibling? Go into today knowing that the Church is God’s family and all of us who have been born into this family are siblings. We are to live as brothers and sisters bound by God’s love and Jesus’ blood. Read John 13:35. Prayer: I receive the grace to see and relate with other children of God as my siblings who I love, in Jesus’ name. Amen. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: Jonah Streamglobe is nondenominational. Kindly share this Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. God Breathed Scriptures

Ephesians 2:20 (KJV) And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone. I recently saw a post on social media where a young man was claiming that he had more revelations and Rhema than the apostles did because Jesus said we would do greater works. He went on to rebuke and criticize those he deemed as ‘myopic’ and ‘religious’ brethren who think they cannot have more revelation than what the apostles wrote in the Bible. People who believe what he believes are those who say things like ‘Paul wrote that because he had not yet received sufficient revelation into the mystery of the gospel’. They are those who teach the ‘deep things of Satan’(see Rev 2:24) and call it the deeper things of the gospel. They forget that All scripture is God-breathed (see 2 Tim 3:16). Every piece of writing that made it to the Bible (scriptures) made it as a result of God’s divine orchestration. The Apostles and prophets referred to in today’s Bible text are the ones who wrote the Bible under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Under the inspiration of God, the Old Testament was written by The Prophets, and the New Testament was written by The Apostles. The Church is built on this foundation. Everything they wrote has Jesus as the chief cornerstone. If tomorrow, we find Apostle Paul’s personal journal and jottings or we discover other letters Apostle Peter wrote to the churches, neither the discovered jottings nor letters would become part of scripture, and would not be treated as such. Many other letters were written by the apostles, but the ones the Holy Spirit allowed to make it into the Bible is now our scripture. Go into today remembering that the Bible is God’s gift to you. It was carefully orchestrated and arranged by the Holy Spirit over many centuries. Any revelation that is ‘deeper’ than what the scripture reveals is nothing by a false doctrine of men and demons. Prayer: Ask the Lord to keep you from the spirit of error. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Proverbs 28 Streamglobe is nondenominational. Doing Your Part In The Will Of God

Matthew 6:10 (KJV) “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven”. “Does it matter what people do? Whatever God says must happen! He does what He wants and no man can change His plans, this is why he is called God; no man can change him”. This was the response Judith got from her mom when she asked if God’s plan can change. “But, God said His plans toward us are good, why then are we going through all these troubles?” Judith asked her mom again. Can God’s plan change? Can He change His mind? Are His plans affected by the response (actions) of men? I believe these are real questions that confront us. In heaven, God’s will is always done and whatever goes against His will is chased out. Lucifer was chased out because of this. But the will of God is not always done on earth, it is because of this that Jesus says we should pray that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In 1 Samuel 23:9-14, David asked God two questions: “will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard?” and “will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand?” To both questions, God’s response was yes. But non of the things that God said yes to happened, why? Because David left the city. Another example is Nineveh. God did not destroy the city as promised, why? Because the people repented (Jonah 3). From today’s text and what we learn from 1 Samuel 23:9-14 and Jonah 3, it is evident that what God has said can be changed, depending on the response of the people to such pronouncement. Go into today knowing that for the will of God to be done on earth, in your family and life, you must play your part. You must pray and act accordingly. Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to be the reason why your will is being done in my sphere, help me Lord so to live. Living by Faith

Hebrews 11:4 (KJV) By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. Blessing, what are you going to do with the huge profit you made from that business? Peace, I am going to give it to God, I believe that’s what the Holy Spirit is instructing me to do. What are you going to do with yours? Blessing asked Peace. I’m going to invest it in that business we discussed. What Blessing and Peace did with their money, they did by faith; Blessing gave her huge profit to God and Peace invested hers in a business. Peace’s faith yielded an earthly reward while Blessing’s will yield an eternal reward. From today’s text you will see that it is that which is offered, sacrificed, or given to God that yields eternal reward. Abel for instance, still speaks today although dead because of the gifts he offered to God (see Hebrews 11:4). It is true that God wants to supply all your needs and you will receive these supplies by faith but you also must learn how to give back to God using the same faith. A careful study of Hebrews 11 reveals that It is what you do for or give to God that will be remembered eternally. If you desire to store up treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19), you must learn how to give, serve, and sacrifice by faith. The greatest value of faith is locked up in its ability to cause you to give. Go into today knowing that living by faith entails knowing how to receive from and give to God by faith. Prayer: Thank the Lord for all you’ve been able to receive by faith and ask Him for the grace to give by faith. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: II Chronicles 11-15 Streamglobe is nondenominational. Controlling The Tongue

Ephesians 4:29-30 (NET) You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Before Dara accepted the Lord Jesus, he didn’t really feel any remorse or hindrance in his heart to committing sins. His conscience had been seared and he had lost all inhibition to sinning. But after receiving the Lord Jesus and being baptized in the Holy Spirit, he realized that his conscience became sensitive again. This sensitivity helped him to overcome many of the temptations that sought to take him back to his former way of life. He had a new nature within that repelled that way of life. One thing that he found most difficult to control though was his tongue. He saw that it was easy for unwholesome words to still come out of his mouth. It didn’t take long for him to utter a certain four-letter curse word and others like it. He still flared up and said hurtful things when he was offended. Because his conscience was now alive by the indwelling Holy Spirit, he knew the Holy Spirit was grieved when unwholesome words came out of his mouth. From the book of James, we can see that the most difficult part of the body to control is the tongue, and if a person can control his tongue, he is a perfect man (see James 3:2). A man may have gained mastery to the point that he no longer walks in any other works of the flesh that had bedeviled him all his life, but he may find that controlling his tongue is a little more difficult. Many believers don’t commit any known or bogus sins, but their words are not seasoned with salt and can pierce and really hurt (beyond proportion) when they are offended. Sharp words that damage can easily come out of their mouths when they’re offended. We see that the Lord Jesus who is our perfect example did not open his mouth [to curse or utter harsh words] when he was oppressed and afflicted (see Isaiah 53:7). This is a cue for us. When you are really hurt and offended, it is better to keep quiet at that point because if you don’t, you may not be able to control your tongue and you may say things that you shouldn’t say. Deal first with the anger and hurt in your heart in the place of prayer before speaking about a matter that has hurt you. Go into today determined to be deliberate in the use of your tongue. Let thanksgiving, the praises of God, and His words fill your tongue from when you wake up in the morning. Confess the word of God regularly with your tongue and let it wash out every vestige of bitterness and corruption (see Ephesians 5:26). Prayer: Lord, help me control my tongue and use it only for your praise and glory. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Numbers 29-32 Streamglobe is nondenominational.
