Care For the Needy

1 Timothy 5:3-4 (NET) Honor widows who are truly in need. From my study of the Bible, I have found that there are three groups of people God is particularly concerned about because of the peculiarity of their need. They include the widows, the orphans, and the aliens or refugees(See Jeremiah 22:3, James 1:27, Deuteronomy 10:17-18, Psalm 146:9). These are people that find themselves in disadvantaged situations and could suffer a great deal if no one comes to their rescue. The word translated as honor in today’s Bible verse is a word that depicts the giving of an honorarium. An honorarium is defined as a payment in which custom or propriety forbids a price to be set. When scriptures say ‘honor your father and mother’, this is what it means. You are to give them an honorarium. Honoring your parents doesn’t just mean bowing to great them and leaving them to go hungry, it means setting aside money regularly to give to them. The church is expected to give to widows in need. In the old days, women hardly did jobs with sufficient income that could take care of their children, so if they became widows, they became really stranded and in need of help. Even today, there are widows like that in the church, and it is God’s will that the church sets aside resources for them. It is not good for children of widows in the church to be left to become street kids and vagabonds because no one takes care of them. Go into today remembering that godliness involves giving to the needy around you (see James 1:27). This is one of the most effective ways of shinning the light of the gospel. Prayer: Thank You Father for the privilege to give to you. Please give me a heart that truly cares for the needy and shines Your light to them. Amen. Want to be saved? False Prophets – The Way of Balaam

2 Peter 2:15 (NET) By forsaking the right path they have gone astray, because they followed the way of Balaam son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness Now there is another category of prophets who started as true servants of the Lord, but along the way, because of mammon, they have ended as enemies of the cross (see Phil 3:18). They can also be classified as false prophets. The first known prophet who entered this kind of error is Balaam. He was a prophet of Almighty God but an enemy of God’s people brought him money to help place a curse on God’s people. Balaam initially refrained because he understood that it was wrong for him to do such a thing. But because the people who came brought money, Balaam kept asking the Lord to let him go and place a curse on His people, people who like Jethro, Balaam was supposed to be on their side. After trying several times to no avail in cursing God’s people, he gave their enemy a strategy that ultimately worked in getting God’s people to walk in iniquity so that they would be destroyed. Even though he was supposed to be a prophet of God, Balaam worked against God’s kingdom agenda because of money. There are many prophets today who are walking in the same error as Balaam. They have used their spiritual skill and anointing to help the kingdom of darkness (some without knowing it) rather than edify God’s people because they want more money. Many of them have twisted the word of God knowingly just because they want to extract more money from the people. Instead of feeding God’s children with the sincere milk of God’s word that would help them grow into the stature of Christ, they have fed them with the milk adulterated with worldliness that would keep them as babes who would continue to depend on them and fill their pockets with money. Go into today remembering that you cannot serve God and serve mammon (see Matt 6:24). Any attempt to do the two as a servant of Jesus would lead you into the way of Balaam. Prayer: Lord, please deliver me from walking this evil path and help me depend on you alone. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Streamglobe is nondenominational. Manner of Conduct 2

1 Timothy 5:1-2 (NET) Do not address an older man harshly but appeal to him as a father. Speak to younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters – with complete purity. Christian was so offended by Chidi that he took to the social media to make certain disparaging posts about him. Chidi was in the wrong and Christian decided to get back at him by revealing his secrets on social media and “destroying his life”. A few months passed and there was a problem Christian would normally pray about and fix, but he found that he no longer had the requisite spiritual authority. This troubled him greatly and thus led him into a season of waiting on the Lord. It was during this season that he realized that what he did against Chidi was wrong. All the while, he had felt self-righteous about his actions because Chidi really hurt him. But in the presence of God, he remembered that his own biological brother had done something similar to him and he never took such actions against him but forgave him because he was his brother. His error was that he did not realize that Chidi too was his brother, and because he was not rightly discerning the body of Christ, he functionally denied himself from the right to exert the authority of the body. From today’s Bible verse, we see a golden principle that every believer should imbibe. In dealing with fellow believers, we are to remember that they are literally our brothers and sisters. Let us treat them as we would our biological brothers, sisters, and parents. This is how to rightly discern the body of Christ.  Believers are members of one family and should treat each other that way. Go into today remembering that because of the new birth you have in Christ Jesus, what joins you with your Christian brothers and sisters is stronger than flesh and blood. Remember that believers who rightly discern the body of Christ are those who can appropriate the benefits of the body. Want to be saved? Manner of Conduct

1 Timothy 5:1 (NET)  Do not address an older man harshly but appeal to him as a father. Speak to younger men as brothers Before Mike accepted the Lord Jesus, he believed that the only thing in a person that made that person warrant his respect is if the person has more money and power than him. So he would respect only elders that have more money and power than him but disregard those that he has more money or power than. But after Mike accepted the Lordship of Christ, without any teaching on this subject, because of His fellowship with the Holy Spirit, he just knew that his former manner of conduct was wrong. He found that he now intuitively respected his elders because they are his elders and not because of any other reason. Apostle Paul sent Timothy as his representative to establish the churches in Ephesus.  Even though Timothy was a young man, he was occupying a seat of great authority over the churches in that area, and he had such authority that he could normally rebuke anyone in the church, including the elders. But by the Spirit of the Lord, Apostle Paul is instructing him in today’s verse not to talk harshly to an elder. In the kingdom of God, we respect our elders even if we are more powerful than them and they are under our authority. This is a sign that we respect God rather than money/power. A person who only honors mammon will not honor an elderly person he has more money and power than. But one sign that a person fears the Lord is that he would respect his elders, even if he is more powerful than them. A person who truly honors his parents would honor other people who are in his parent’s age group. That’s just the way man is wired. From the old Testament, we see that the Lord instructs His people concerning respect for elders. Here’s what the Lord says in Leviticus: Leviticus 19:32 (NET)  You must stand up in the presence of the aged, honor the presence of an elder, and fear your God. I am the Lord. Go into today remembering that if a person truly fears the Lord, it will show in his conduct. Remember that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me show honor to whom honor and is due. Give me the wisdom to lead wisely whenever I have the opportunity. Amen. Want to be saved? Manner of Thinking

1 Corinthians 14:20 (NET) Brothers and sisters, do not be children in your thinking. Instead, be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature. Aku grew up among some of the most cunning and dishonest people, so this made him very suspicious and untrusting. This affected his relationships with his friends even after he became a believer,  and this even affected his relationship with his wife because he was too suspicious and untrusting. As he became more spiritually mature,  he understood that because he was in Christ,  he was not the one taking care of himself but the Lord. He stopped being suspicious and untrusting.  He realized that being that way had not really helped him in life. It alienated his friends and made it impossible for him to enjoy the peace of God. Even though he remained wise and observant, he stopped being a suspicious untrusting person because he now understood that his life was God’s idea and his security God’s responsibility. In today’s Bible verse, we see a very important guiding principle of thinking that every believer should imbibe. We are not to be children in our thinking, but when it comes to evil and malice, we are to be children. We can afford this because we are children of Almighty God. There are revelations that God cannot reveal to believers who are too simple and childish in their thinking and reasoning. But there are depths of peace that cannot be reached by those who are too suspicious and untrusting. God wants us to be advanced and critical in our reasoning because He wants to reason with us(see Isaiah 1:8). He doesn’t want us to be simple thinkers who can be swayed by winds of highfalutin doctrines. One way to ensure we are not simpletons and childish in our reasoning is for us to have hearts that seek knowledge and understanding. “…with all thy getting get understanding” —Proverbs 4:7. Read, ask questions, seek to know. The internet is not meant only for social media but can be used for wisdom and understanding imparting research. Prayer: Lord, give me a heart that seeks wisdom and understanding. Amen. Want to be saved? Click here: streamglobe.org/33 —Abraham Damilola Arigi Streamglobe is nondenominational. Pay Attention to Sound Teaching

1 Timothy 4:16 (KJV)  Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. As Linda grew in her walk with the Lord, she realized that the more of God’s word she understood, the more it purified her, and the result was a closer walk with God. For example, Linda used to make promises without fulfilling them, and she didn’t take her words very seriously. But as she continued to learn the word, she realized that she was not living in God’s perfect will by being unfaithful with her words. As she adjusted and became more truthful, she found that the power of God could now be expressed through the words of her mouth. One evening, she was sitting outside near the car porch when her sister drove in. Because of the excitement of seeing her, her sister forgot to engage the auxiliary brake before exiting the car. As soon as she came out of the car, the car started moving away and was heading toward a nearby wall with increasing speed because the place was slopy. Linda simply said “I command you to stop”, and instantly, the car stopped. This was one of the many examples of how God’s power could now be expressed through Linda’s words because her tongue was now sanctified. In today’s Bible verse, we see Apostle Paul telling Timothy that by continuing in the doctrine [of Christ], he would save himself and those who hear him. It was by continuing in The Doctrine that Linda’s tongue was saved and was now made a vessel that could give expression to the power of God. Any believer who does not pay attention to sound teaching will live a life that is not truly saved from the power and dominion of sin. After accepting Christ, It is by receiving the engrafted word that our souls are saved from the entanglements of old sins (see James 1:21). Go into today remembering to pay attention to sound teaching. Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you pay attention to sound teaching and lose appetite for any teaching that is not sound. Want to be saved? I Am Standing At the Door and Knocking

Rev 3:20-22[NET] Listen! I am standing at the door and knocking! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come into his home and share a meal with him, and he with me. 21 I will grant the one who conquers permission to sit with me on my throne, just as I too conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. From when he was in the university, Ikenna knew that there was a call of God upon his life. He knew he would have to seek God for clearer specifics and details, but this never happened. Immediately he finished from the university, he went for his country’s mandatory youth service corps for one year. During that period, he had several opportunities to seek the face of the Lord, but he spent all that time looking for opportunities for a ‘better life’. He spent all his time applying for jobs and scholarships to various graduate programs in university campuses around the world, but he relegated God’s call on this life to the background. All the while, Jesus was still knocking. By the time Ikenna was 49 years, he looked at his life and all his achievements, but he knew he had missed it concerning divine destiny. He had spent the best years of his life chasing money. We see in today’s Bible text that the one who conquers will sit with Christ on His throne. Christ will rule the entire universe, and the one who conquers will rule and reign with Him on His throne. Many Christians have been deceived to think that escaping hell and making heaven is the ultimate goal, they fail to realize that God did not just destine us to see the kingdom; He destined us to inherit the kingdom. Conquerors are not those who just escaped hell, they are those who conquered life for Christ: they are those who conquered territories for Christ and fulfilled their divine destiny. Go into today remembering that any life not lived for the divine kingdom purpose would be judged to be a wasted life. Prayer: Father, give me the grace to live for you and not waste my life. Amen. Effective Warfare: Children

Ephesians 6:12-13 (KJV) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Joy gave her life to Jesus at a very tender age and got baptized in the Holy Ghost at age nine. Her Dad had led her to Christ, got her filled with the Holy Ghost and also served as her spiritual father. She enjoyed the presence of God so much that she became very famous, going from Church to Church because she was invited to minister. But as she grew older, the invitations began to reduce and they eventually stopped. Before this happened, submitting to her parents (her Dad especially) became very hard; she would not listen to his instructions, “I’m now a big girl and I can order my own ways’’ she thought. Joy prayed hard and fasted a lot, asking that God restore her but she didn’t seem to be heard. It was after fifteen years that she stumbled on teachings about submission and honor that her eyes opened to her failures. When she returned to submission, she suddenly again began to enjoy the presence of God, but she had lost so many years already. Ephesians 6 began by commanding children to obey their parents in the Lord and to honor their fathers and mothers. If you are disobedient to this commandment, it will be impossible for you to effectively engage in spiritual warfare. If you are rebellious to authority, demons will not obey you. You will notice that in Ephesians 6, it is after the instruction to honor and be submissive that we are told about spiritual warfare. Go into today making up your mind to honor your parents and have a heart of submission, not pride. If you are a defaulter, reconcile quickly. Pray this way: Father, I receive grace for submission in Jesus’ name. Want to be saved? Click here: streamglobe.org/33 —Dr. Emmanuel James Streamglobe is nondenominational. Spiritual Gifts and Impartations

1 Timothy 4:14 (NET)  Do not neglect the spiritual gift you have, given to you and confirmed by prophetic words when the elders laid hands on you. A young man was praying for several days to receive the ability to see visions because he had seen firsthand the benefits of that spiritual gift. While he was praying one day, the spirit of the Lord led him to go and visit his friend who is a minister of the gospel. When he got to his friend’s house, he saw that his friend had a visitor who was an apostle. This apostle saw him and instantly discerned that he needed the impartation of a spiritual gift. The apostle ministered to him and there and then he received the spiritual gift he had been praying to receive for several weeks. God answered his prayer by leading him to where he would be imparted. I remember the first time I started walking consistently in the prophetic and word of knowledge. I was attending an international conference where certain apostles of God and prophets were ministering. It was during the course of that conference that I noticed that I started walking in the spiritual gift of “word of knowledge”. One of the easiest ways believers receive spiritual gifts is through impartation. That’s why Apostle Paul told the Romans this: Romans 1:11 (NET)  For I long to see you, so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you. It is also clear from today’s Bible verse that Timothy received his spiritual gift when the elders of the church laid their hands on him and prophesied. Just like water flows downstream, it is important for believers to be submitted to one another in order for such important importations to get to them. You cannot receive impartation from a servant of God you do not honor, no matter how anointed he is. Go into today remembering that it is hard for a proud person to receive anything from the Lord. Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you humble yourself and receive all the necessary impartation He had ordained for you. Want to be saved? The Hope of His Calling

Ephesians 1:18 (KJV)  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. Being a billionaire, Prince’s Dad deposited millions of dollars into a special bank account for Prince every year on his birthday. He had done this in order to secure a good life for his only child who will at age eighteen be granted access to this account. Prince, however, became friends with a group of junkies in high school who introduced him to taking and selling hard drugs. He fell to their influence because of the euphoria of being high on drugs, partying and the company of women– things his Dad never permitted. Wanting to ‘‘belong’’, he eventually left home, moved in with his junky friends and refused all attempts by his Dad to get him back home. Even the knowledge of the bank account in his name could not get him back. His dad, however, did not stop depositing money in this account as he hoped that he will return home someday, but Prince never did. At the age of seventeen, Prince’s picture and hat of his friends made the pages of the national dailies. They had gone out on a failed robbery operation and had secured terrible injuries while trying to escape. Unfortunately for Prince, he died before he could get to the hospital. What an unfortunate end for Prince! Many however are living like Prince today. They know the love of God and His ability to meet their needs but won’t wait for Him. For them, God is too slow hence, they devise strange methods of getting what they want and thereby abandon God and his plans for them. If this describes you, know that you are being deceived by Satan, and his aim is to rob you of the glory of the riches of your inheritance in God; he wants you to end like Prince. But if you will pay the price of waiting on God today, he will surely give you your inheritance in due time. For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly (Psalms 84:11, KJV). Prayer: Father, I repent from haste and impatience and ask that you forgive me in Jesus’ name. Open my eyes to know the hope of your calling for me and the riches of your glory towards me in Jesus’ name. Amen. Want to be saved?
