Ephesians 6:12-13 (KJV) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Joy gave her life to Jesus at a very tender age and got baptized in the Holy Ghost at age nine. Her Dad had led her to Christ, got her filled with the Holy Ghost and also served as her spiritual father. She enjoyed the presence of God so much that she became very famous, going from Church to Church because she was invited to minister. But as she grew older, the invitations began to reduce and they eventually stopped. Before this happened, submitting to her parents (her Dad especially) became very hard; she would not listen to his instructions, “I’m now a big girl and I can order my own ways’’ she thought.
Joy prayed hard and fasted a lot, asking that God restore her but she didn’t seem to be heard. It was after fifteen years that she stumbled on teachings about submission and honor that her eyes opened to her failures. When she returned to submission, she suddenly again began to enjoy the presence of God, but she had lost so many years already.
Ephesians 6 began by commanding children to obey their parents in the Lord and to honor their fathers and mothers. If you are disobedient to this commandment, it will be impossible for you to effectively engage in spiritual warfare. If you are rebellious to authority, demons will not obey you.
You will notice that in Ephesians 6, it is after the instruction to honor and be submissive that we are told about spiritual warfare.
Go into today making up your mind to honor your parents and have a heart of submission, not pride. If you are a defaulter, reconcile quickly.
Pray this way: Father, I receive grace for submission in Jesus’ name.
