1 Corinthians 1:18 (KJV)
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
Biodun and Shade now had a very sour and unhappy marriage. Shade was convinced that her husband was now cheating on her because he bought a new phone with fingerprint password and made it impossible for her to access it. He also started coming home really late. Biodun felt that his wife no longer loved him, so he stopped showing her affection the way he used to. They now always disagreed.
Biodun wanted a happy home like that of his brother. He asked his younger brother what the secret was because he knew there was a time that his brother was having problems in his marriage and almost got a divorce. His brother told him that his secret was accepting Jesus and letting Jesus become the Lord of his marriage. He preached the cross to Biodun and told him that the Lord Jesus had the power to save his marriage and bring peace to his Life because He has paid for this on the cross. This didn’t make any sense to Biodun. ‘What foolishness!’ He said. ‘I say I have marital problems and you are telling me to believe in Jesus that died on the cross?’
The preaching of the cross is foolishness to unbelievers, but it is the power of God to those who believe. Believing in the sacrifice of Jesus and accepting His lordship is the source of all power for the believer. When you see a believer walking in divine health, it is because he believes that Jesus has paid for this on the cross, and receives it by faith (1 Pet 2:24). When you see a believer walking above curses and demonic limitations, it is because he believes that all curses against him have been nailed to the cross (Col 2:14). When you see a believer walking in divine provisions, it is because he believes that Jesus has paid for this on the cross (see 2 Cor 8:9), etc.
