1 Cor 6:13 (KJV)
“Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the lord, and the lord for the bodyâ€
One misconception among believers is that the body was not part of the redemption work on the cross. Though the body remains weak after our salvation, Jesus did not leave us without a remedy. Though we have not yet put on the glorious body, we can still experience eternal life in our bodies (see Rom 8:23).
The bible says that the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you (Rom 8:11).
Watchman Nee wrote: “the spirit and body were previously dead, but now the spirit is revived…â€, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God (see Rom 8:10).
With this understanding, God will help us appreciate how our bodies can receive life through the spirit.
Go into today with the understanding that you have the quickening of the Holy Spirit in your body and you can be all that God has called you to be.
Prayer: heavenly father, please strengthen my trust in the presence of the Holy Spirit within me, that I may experience his power in my body, in Jesus name I pray. Amen
