As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him
When Bimpe moved to the city, she started attending a church where they taught a lot of ‘new things’. Before she got to the city, she had received Christ as her Lord and Savior and was growing and having a very fruitful walk with the Lord. But as she started attending this new church, she realized that what they were teaching was different from what she had always known about Christ and His kingdom. It sounded really exciting and comforting to the flesh, but she was not comfortable because these teachings were contrary to the ones that got her saved and established in Christ.
After experiencing serious leanness in her soul because she started following these doctrines, it was clear to her that she was now following the wrong teachers.
Colossians 2:8 (KJV) says: Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
This is becoming increasingly popular today. Many people have been deceived by doctrines based on human philosophy and tradition. Their understanding of God’s kingdom has been shaped by human tradition. They forget that God’s ways are not man’s ways (Isaiah 55:8). For example, what good father would allow his only son to suffer and die the way Jesus did? Using human logic and tradition, it would be difficult to believe in the divinity and sacrifice of Jesus.
Those who try to use human logic and traditions to understand the kingdom of God will end up in very serious errors.
Go into today remembering that you are to continue in Christ the way you received him. Avoid new ‘highly logical’ doctrines that contradict the foundational teachings that established you in the faith.
