God Keeps His Covenants II
Broadcast 4006 Click here for the audio version: Genesis 15:18 (NET) reads, “That day the Lord made a covenant with Abram: ‘To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates River.’” Mr. Clement had a very successful business with a track record of entering very successful contracts and deals. When he started grooming his first son to take over the business, one of the most important lessons he taught him was how to determine the companies and people he could enter serious business deals, contracts, and agreements with. He said if a man does not keep to time and does not keep his words, he will most likely not keep to the terms of your contracts. He said if a man is patently unfaithful to his wife, he will not be faithful to your contract with him. No wise person enters a serious contract/Covenant with an unfaithful party. The second Covenant we see in scripture is the covenant God made with Abraham. By this time, Abraham had charted a trajectory of life that demonstrated complete faith and faithfulness. This faith manifested in the fact that Abraham obeyed every command and requirement of God. Every Covenant that God ever had with people always had a requirement of faith and faithfulness on their part. And those who will continue to enjoy the covenant of Abraham, for example, must have the faith of Abraham. Go into today remembering that God does not activate His Covenants with unfaithful people. Spiritual right to exert authority

Orji wondered why he would pray, fast, and still struggle to cast out a demon that Emaka wouldn’t even need to strain his voice to cast out. He came to realize that the reason for his little spiritual authority was because he wasn’t properly aligned to Christ’s authority. When you read a Bible verse like today’s main text, you may wonder why in the New Testament, so much emphasis is still made on commandments. ‘Are we not now under grace and no more under the law?’ Yes, we are under grace, but being under grace does not mean being lawless. It means the grace of God empowers us to obey God’s law that He has now written upon our hearts because of the new covenant (see Heb 10:16). What this means is that a Christian is someone who is under God’s authority. He is not a ‘free moral agent’ but is under the absolute authority of the Lord Jesus. Any man who is not living under authority has no spiritual right to exert authority. It may look as if the devil still has authority, but in reality, he has authority over only the members of his household. All authority has been given to our Lord Jesus Christ. He has the absolute authority over the heavens and over the earth. If you must exert spiritual authority, that authority must be the same authority that the Lord has. You cannot exert this authority if you are not operating under it. This is the real reason why demons do not respect some Christians. Demons do not respect people who have not actively aligned with the only spiritual authority that can cast them out. You align with this authority by living your life under the authority of Christ. The Fruit of the Spirit 10: Faithfulness

His colleagues called him “pastor” because they had observed that he was truly a man of integrity. Lanre had a prayer schedule that he never missed, even when it was not convenient. One night while he was praying, the Spirit of the Lord ministered to him and told him he was going to be the next managing director of his organization. He knew he had an angelic visitation that night, so even though it didn’t make sense for him to believe that he could be managing director, he believed the word that came to him. True to the word of the Lord, 2 years after he had that angelic visitation, he was appointed as the managing director. Lanre always wondered if he would have received the miraculous promotion if he had missed his prayer appointment that day. That day he had the angelic visitation, it was particularly difficult for him to keep his prayer appointment because he had a cold and was feeling sick. But because he now had a spirit of faithfulness, he went to pray in spite of the way he felt. Many have missed out on their season of visitation because of unfaithfulness. Go into today asking the Lord to increase in you His nature of faithfulness. The Fruit of the Spirit 9: Faithfulness
Galatians 5:22 (NET) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulnessBefore Lanre gave his life to Christ, he was not a very honest person. When he was on campus, he had two girlfriends who didn’t know each other. They both believed he was their one and only. His word meant nothing to him. He only said the truth when it was convenient. But he never considered himself to be an unfaithful person. After believing in the Lord Jesus and submitting to discipleship, he realized he could not continue in the old nature of sin and unfaithfulness. The more he understood the divine nature and sought to walk in it, the more repulsive lying and unfaithfulness were to him. Because of this, his faith was strong, and his pursuit of the knowledge of God was very fruitful. There are many believers whose spiritual endeavors are fruitless because they are faithless. An unfaithful person cannot be a faith-full person. Faith and faithfulness cannot be separated. Faith always produces faithfulness. Abraham was faithful to God because he had faith in God. Go into today remembering that bearing the fruit of the Spirit means walking in the nature and character of God. Overcoming lawlessness

No one who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him [recognized, perceived, or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with Him] Dre realized that because of the robust fellowship he constantly had with the Holy Spirit, all his weaknesses and besetting sins were no longer an issue. But he realized that Satan did everything to get him out of fellowship with the Holy Spirit. He realized that the devil’s most potent tool was guilt. But he knew better, he knew that even when his conscience tried to condemn him, the Holy Spirit was greater than his conscience and would never leave him. One big mistake many Christians make is that they think being filled with the Holy Spirit is something that should happen once in a while. Many Christians are victims of sins and spiritual weakness because they are hardly filled with the Spirit. They have no experience of fellowship with the Holy Spirit. They do not realize that the Holy Spirit was sent to be their comforter, counselor, teacher, helper, etc. These are intimate functions that we enjoy only when we are in constant fellowship with Him. One thing you will understand when dealing with the Holy Spirit is His authority and government over you. You will know this intuitively, and you will discover that walking in close fellowship with Him removes the tendency of lawlessness in your heart. You can no longer do just anything or say anything. Your life becomes streamlined and narrowed to His will and government. This is what the narrow way really means. As you go into today, do not forget that Christ dwells in you by His Spirit, and you dwell in Christ by allowing His word and will control you. This is the secret to a victorious winning life. Prayer Watch 1

Prayer is of great necessity for every believer. The devil will do everything to see that we lag in prayer. This is the reason why you can find the time to do everything that is important but surprisingly do not find time for prayers. Many Christians even have ample time for their personal Bible study and service in their local churches as workers, but yet do not find time for prayer. One key strategy of the enemy against prayers is to rob believers of their time for prayers and hence hinder them from praying. To watch means to keep the eyes fixed on, to pay attention to, to consider carefully, to keep under observation, and to monitor. God says watch thereunto, speaking in reference to prayer. This means for us to keep a watch on our prayers. Ensure that your prayer happens. God in His wisdom knows that this would be a major battleground for the enemy, therefore he says ‘Watch! Always be on the alert to guard against every robbery of your prayer time. Do not wait until leisure to pray, because if you have not jealously guarded your prayer time, the opportunity for prayers during leisure will never come. Do not be ignorant of the devil’s devices (2 Cor 2:11). He purposely creates all manner of obstacles to keep you from praying. To overcome this, you must set aside a special period, an appointed time for your prayer, or else you will have no time for prayer.Make the time to pray, that’s the first step in victory over prayerlessness. Today, set a specific time for your daily prayer and fellowship with God. Prayer: Quicken me O God and I will call upon your name. Pour upon me the Spirit of grace and supplication. God’s great love
1 John 3:1 (NET) (See what sort of love the Father has given to us: that we should be called God’s children – and indeed we are! For this reason the world does not know us: because it did not know him. When Mr. Adeyemi visited the city orphanage for the first time, his heart was broken to see the number of children whose parents had rejected them. While Mr. Adeyemi was in the orphanage, two of the little children came to him and would not let him go. He also couldn’t let them go, he fell in love with them. He decided he was going to adopt them and make them his children. This meant that they were going to inherit his great fortune; they were now heirs to the greatest fortune in that entire country. The love that God has for you in saving you and adopting you is greater than what words can describe. Being children of God and fellow heirs with Christ Jesus means we get to share in ownership of the entire universe (see Rom 8:17a, 32). This is really too great to imagine, and this is the reason the devil would do anything to hinder us from accessing this reality by faith and knowledge. What do we do in response to this great undeserved love lavished on us by God. We chose to love Him and serve Him with our lives. Go into today renewing your decision to honor and serve God with your life. This is the least you can do in appreciation of His great love. Walking in the Divine Nature
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Yolanda realized that her new nature as a child of God was really different from what it used to be. Unlike before, she now had a true nature of righteousness, and it was now a real struggle for her to walk outside this nature. It was a real struggle because she knew she was violating something precious each time she committed a sin. For the unbeliever, the opposite is the case. It is a real burden when he tries to walk in righteousness. He is comfortable living in sin, while a believer is uncomfortable living in sin. The sign that you have been fathered by God is that you no longer have a sinful nature. This doesn’t mean that you may not fall into sin. This means that if you fall into sin, you are not comfortable until you are forgiven and cleansed from the unrighteousness (weakness) that produced it. One reason why many Christians continually violate their new righteous nature is that even though they have a regenerated spirit, they still have an un-renewed mind. They have not changed their way of thinking, but still have the same thought processes as when they were not yet saved. This is why discipleship is very important. Its purpose is to help change the mindset of people to conform to that of Christ. Go into today remembering that you are a new creation. God will do it
1 Thessalonians 5:24 (KJV) Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. When Yetunde saw God’s plan for her and how unworthy she was to fulfill it, she was disheartened and did not truly believe that she would fulfill God’s vision for her.She received strength and power for destiny when she attended a Bible study session and was asked to read today’s Bible verse. After reading it, her understanding was enlivened and she now knew that God was the one who would bring His visions for her to fruition. The devil is happy when God’s children feel disheartened and incapable of fulfilling God’s will that God reveals to them. God wants us to grow in faith and begin to walk in the reality of what He has given. He wants us to know that He is still in charge, and He controls all things according to His will. Let’s not hinder Him by our unbelief and doubts. It’s time to stop taking sides with the devil and begin to take sides with God concerning your destiny. When you continue to believe that ‘I cannot do it’, you are not taking sides with God concerning your destiny. The devil says ‘You cannot do it’, but the Lord says ‘You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you’. Whose report will you believe? Go into today remembering that that vision was not your idea, it was God’s idea, and God will do it. All you need to do is ‘trust and obey’. Prayer Confession: Faithful is the Lord who has promised, He will surely bring it to pass. So I will trust in Him, and depend on Him. God’s promises must be appropriated
Deuteronomy 2:24 (KJV) states, “Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.” As Moses neared the end of his life, he imparted God’s guidance and laws to a new generation of Israelites, who hadn’t witnessed the miraculous events of their ancestors’ exodus from Egypt. The book of Deuteronomy aimed to reiterate God’s ways and laws to this fresh generation. Today’s focus verse highlights one such instruction. Though God had promised the land to the Israelites, its possession required contention and battles. Similarly, Paul advised Timothy, “This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare.” Just as God gave Israel the land but required them to fight for it, and prophecies were given to Timothy as weapons of spiritual warfare, what will you do with the promises and prophecies God has given you? Will you let them languish, or will you rise up and contend for their fulfillment? Satan and his demons will resist God’s word, actively opposing its fulfillment. Therefore, you must engage in the spiritual battle to appropriate God’s promises in your life. Prayer: Lord Jesus, grant me the grace to contend for all that You have given me.
