When the Lord said ‘judge not’ in Matthew 7:1, He was talking to His disciples, and the context was a Christian disciple judging another disciple. That Sermon [on the mount] started in Matthew 5 after His disciples came up the mountain to meet Him (see Matt 5:1). in the sermon, He instructed them not to judge one another, that was why he said if you see a spec in “your brother’s” eye. the context here is “your brother” not “your neighbor”, indicating that He is talking to disciples. Today’s Bible verse reveals that even though the spiritual man has the ability to judge all things, no one has the ability to rightly judge him. For indeed, those who would be counted worthy to inherit the kingdom of Christ and reign with Him would also judge all men and even the angels (see 1 Cor 6:2-3). But even they are not qualified to judge each other correctly, no one is. The only Person able to judge them is their Lord and master (see Rom 14:4). This applies to spiritual believers and not carnal believers because walking in the flesh excludes a believer from immunity to judgment and condemnation (see Rom 8:1 in KJV, Rom 8:13). Before Satan can afflict anyone, he must first have grounds for judgment and condemnation against him. These grounds do not exist for the spiritual man (whose life is ruled by the Holy Spirit). Even if a spiritual man falls, he rises again and does not stay there and create grounds for judgment. Go into today remembering that there is no judgment and condemnation for the spiritual man. The only thing that can make him walk in a way deserving of judgment is when he becomes carnal by continuing to unrepentantly walk in the flesh. Prayer: Lord, please help me to always walk in the Spirit. —SD Abraham Download Sermons Here☞ http://bit.ly/SERmons Bible Yearly: Jeremiah 47-52 (Available in Today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. If a man would give for love All the wealth of his house, It would be utterly despised. Until Joe was trained and had the opportunity to work in a refinery, he always wondered why its flare stack stayed lit. This fire was strong and glowed from afar in such a way that even the strongest of winds or the heaviest of rains couldn’t put it off. Though fed by an obsolete and environmentally unfriendly process, its burning heat meant that the refinery operated in safety while it transformed raw crude oil into refined products. Our Bible text likens love to an unquenchable flame. It is the greatest and the most powerful force in the whole universe. It is also the most important flame in the life of a believer which must never go out if he desires to fulfill God’s purpose (1 Cor 13:13, 1Jn 4:16, Jn 15:9-10). However, as powerful as love is in the life of a believer, there’s an enemy who can weaken its power if he succeeds in supplanting it with a counterfeit known as lust. By this deception and temptation, the flame of love in a believer can wax cold, with sin as the main fire suppressant (Matt 24:12, Jam 1:14-15). Also, believers cannot successfully carry out the great commission without first satisfying the great commandment (Matt 28:19, John 15:17). The former is what we have been chosen to do, while the latter is our required disposition, through which we can achieve the former successfully. Go into today, determined to act in love in all you do, holding on to God’s word as the real standard on what true love is (1Cor 13:1-13). —Chibo E.C. Not yet saved? A Pastor on a journey happened to pass by an old derelict steel company. As he did, he began to wonder what became of its fiery furnace now lying cold, what happened to its workers, what happened to its societal role in processing metals for industrial purposes, and what are the economic implications due to its shut down? When analyzing these thoughts from the perspective of his own life’s lamp, he eventually had to re-examine himself. Many have reached great heights and have done exploits in their walk with God only for them to deviate and fall away when they move away from the simple, pure and unchanging Gospel to focus on other activities, all in the name of ministry (Rev 2:4). While many of these activities are beneficial in edifying and promoting the faith of believers, the main focus must remain on the reaching out to and bringing dead souls back to life through preaching the Gospel (Matt 28:19-20). From our scriptural text, we must go back to our true assignment of being a light in leading the lost to Christ, instead of being distracted by seemingly good activities, otherwise, we risk losing our usefulness to God and live in danger of being replaced whilst holding on to religious titles, supposing we are still on track (1 Sam 2:30;35, 1 Sam 15:13-29, Matt 5:13). Go out into the world today and tell others about Jesus Christ and His saving grace and as you do so, your light will continue to shine for all eternity (Dan 12:3). —Chibo E.C. Not yet saved? During a fire safety class, several methods of putting out fires (in the absence of experienced firefighters) were demonstrated. One of such methods employed was a fire blanket whose function was to suffocate and stop the fire from receiving oxygen which will eventually lead to it being extinguished. As we grow in our walk with God, it becomes clear, as our verse of scripture indicates that we must strive to see that we keep our flames burning. By reason of man’s fall, there exists already, a blanket cast over all nations, that chokes the lamps of all men to death through sin, until one comes to Christ (Isa 25:7-8). This blanket is the blanket of ignorance in the knowledge of the Word (Hos 4:6), which then results in a foolishness, that smothers one’s sensitivity to the Spirit, thereby quenching one’s spiritual fire. This same effect was what according to the scriptures, made certain virgins miss out on an invited wedding feast, as a result of their lamps going out (Matt 25:8). On the contrary, the oxygen that fuels our fire is wisdom gotten from the knowledge of the Word of God. Our spirit is the lamp through which God reaches out to us (Pro 20:27) and not investing time in fueling it with oxygen is like us walking with a blanket over our lamps. Keeping our flames burning means we must daily fan our fire by studying, understanding, meditating and practicing what God’s word says. It is our responsibility to see to it, that it is not quenched, as if we don’t, we risk being in danger of missing out on God’s kingdom. Go into today feeding the fire of your spirit with the Word of God and as you do so, your path will get brighter till you reach your desired destination (Ps 119:105). —Chibo E.C. He will not put out even the weakest flame. He will bring true justice. Many start off with great zeal and a lot of energy for God’s work, but then they reach a point where their fire grows dim and teeters on the verge of being put off. Our verse of scripture wants us to take comfort and be encouraged by the fact that though this may be the case, God is still able to revive and reignite our fire (Ps 18:28). God is compassionate and loving. He knows and understands our frame and has not called us to undertake tasks beyond that which we’re able to handle or bear, but is willing to help us despite our weakness, so that we can glow even brighter for Him (Ps 103:13-14, 1Cor 10:13, 2 Cor 12:9). Our Lord Jesus Christ was at a place called Gethsemane when He experienced anguish in His soul. It was there that He prayed to the Father, saying “not My will but Yours be done”. The Bible records that after that, an angel (flames of fire (Heb 1:7)) strengthened Him. Afterward, He went on to fulfill God’s redemption plan for mankind (Lk 22:39-44). Unlike our Lord Jesus, our burn outs are as a result us of working in the strength of the law or the flesh, instead of relying wholly on the Holy Spirit (Gal 3, 10). Some signs of this burn out include: weakened prayer life, less study (and meditation) of the Word, less enthusiasm for evangelism and fellowship, etc. What then should be our response if this is what we’re experiencing? Our response must be like that of Jesus; to retreat to a place of prayer and ask God to rekindle and strengthen His fire in us by the Holy Spirit (Acts 4:31). Ask God today to reignite your fire afresh so that your light will shine for the world to see, overcoming every darkness and bringing glory to God (Matt 5:16). —Chibo E.C. Before Ugochukwu became a believer, all his friends were unbelievers. But when he became a believer, they were no longer comfortable with him because his speech and lifestyle changed drastically. When they realized he was not planning to go back to the world, they all left him. He became very lonely because he had no more friends. He prayed to the Lord to give him new friends who would help and encourage him in the faith. The Lord answered his prayer after he joined the evangelism unit in church. He met people that truly loved the Lord and understood the scriptures. They could sit down for hours discussing scripture and sharing life experiences. As Ugochukwu grew in the knowledge of the Lord, he was not only sensitive to the things that weakened him spiritually, he was also sensitive to the things that strengthened and sharpened him spiritually. He now realized that spending time with brethren and discussing the word (even over the barbecue) was not just ‘hanging out’, it was an important spiritual activity that strengthened and sharpened him. He later discovered that it gave the Lord great pleasure when his people sit down together to discuss his word(He started taking these meetings seriously. As you grow spiritually, you will discern the things and habits that are not good for you that you previously thought were harmless. You will also discern things you do that are really good for your spirit. This is because spiritual growth increases our sensitivity in the spirit. This is different from sin conscious. Spiritually mature people are sure of what is wrong and what is right. But sin consciousness is usually because people are not sure. Go into today asking the Lord to help you grow in discernment and grace. —SD Abraham Bible Yearly: Galatians 1-3 (Available in Today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. Even though Ugochukwu had deleted all the inappropriate and unwholesome videos and music on his smartphone after he believed, he still watched many movies and didn’t see anything wrong with them since there was no outright pornography on them. But as he grew spiritually, he started observing that each time he watched certain movies, they made him become weaker, or make him bring down his guard. As he continued to grow, he started seeing that certain movies were not harmless as he previously thought, but were dangerous for his spirit. He stopped watching such movies. When he was still a baby in the faith, he knew that pornography was bad for his soul and he now avoided like a plague. But his discernment was not strong enough to see that many of the other movies he used to watch were also not good for his soul. But as he grew, he saw it and obeyed the prompting of the Holy Spirit to stop watching them. Many believers have not grown spiritually because they do not obey such promptings, but wish to continue to please the flesh at the expense of the spirit’s growth. One of the most profound signs of spiritual maturity is the ability to discern. As you grow in the Spirit, you grow in your ability to discern right from wrong; good from evil. See Hebrews 5:14. When a believer is carnal or fleshly, he is considered to be a spiritual baby. But when the believer becomes spiritual and no more carnal, it is a product of spiritual maturity. As you grow spiritually, you will become more discerning and spiritually sensitive. Many things you considered as benign will become clear to you as either good for you or bad for you. —SD Abraham Bible Yearly: Luke 5-6 (Available in Today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. Daramola observed that many things they taught in church didn’t make too much sense to him. Even though he was born into a Christian family, he did not understand how a person would live for a kingdom that they cannot see. As far as he was concerned, life was about making as much money as possible and enjoying the money. One of the first things that happened to him when he became born again was that it became clearer and clearer to him how empty and vain worldly possessions really were. They could no longer satisfy him, and unlike before when he sought to get satisfaction by seeking more of them, he now understood that the material things of this world didn’t have the ability to satisfy. He didn’t have this wisdom before. He kept running after more and more, and was never really satisfied. Daramola came to realize that the solution to the thirst and hunger in his soul was only found in Christ. For the first time in his life, he found rest for his soul. He was no more seeking to be validated by things and people; he knew he was accepted and loved by Almighty God. If you notice that the things of the Spirit of God are beginning to look less important to you, it is an indication that your faith is under attack. You may want to spend more time in prayer and be more careful about the persons you spend much of your time with. Unbelief is a spiritually contagious disease. Computers can control very many external devices like printers, joysticks, speakers, scanners, etc. But for this to happen, their respective drivers must first be installed in the operating system of the computer. This is what gives the computer knowledge about the hardware and enable it to use the hardware. When a hardware driver is installed, it informs the computer about the hardware and enables it to use the hardware. No matter how new and perfect the hardware you connect to a computer is, if the driver software is not installed, the computer would not be able to recognize and use it. No matter what we have been freely given by God, if we do not receive knowledge and empowerment from the Holy Spirit, we would not be able to use it. If we only have mental knowledge of these things, we are unable to utilize them and walk in them. The kind of knowledge given by the Holy Spirit doesn’t just inform, it empowers. You may know that ‘by His stripes, you are healed,’ but when the Holy Spirit furnishes that knowledge in your heart, it will empower you to walk in that reality. After Ugochukwu became baptized in the Holy Spirit, he realized that he had more power within him to do the things of God. Prayer became much easier and he could now pray for much longer. He had always desired to pray longer each day because he understood that that was the secret of walking in great supernatural power, but he did not have the ability to pray long until he became baptized in the Holy Spirit. Ugochukwu became bolder and was now able to share the gospel with people he used to be too shy to share the gospel with. He also observed that when he now read the Bible, he understood it. There were now many things that he just now understood in his heart that he didn’t understand before. He also observed that he now understood the fear of the Lord and saw how it was the beginning of wisdom. I have met Christians who underestimate the importance of spiritual knowledge and wisdom because they are more interested in spiritual power. What they do not understand is that great power that can only be revealed because of the right knowledge, and knowledge is power. One kind of knowledge that the Holy Spirit brings is what I call native knowledge. It is like the kind of knowledge that a lion has and it knows that it is to roar and rule. Without this native knowledge, no matter how potentially power the animal is, it would never utilize this power. Go into today thanking the Lord for the privilege to have the indwelling Holy Spirit.
