Partnership With God

Matthew. 16:19 (KJV) And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever, thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever, thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Many times, God will not do what He says He will do except there is a man aligned to partner with Him to see His kingdom come in a particular sphere of influence. God is sovereign and all-powerful but has given the earth to man to rule and dominate (Gen. 1:28, Psalm 115:16). So whatever God wants to do on earth, He looks for vessels who are aligned enough to partner with Him to bring it to pass. Most times we say we wait on God to act and change our situations when God is actually waiting for us to align and partner with Him so we can see the necessary changes we desire (and this could lead to delays of the fulfillment of prophecies). We can enter into partnership with God by believing and confessing God’s word until we see the manifestation of the word. It is not enough to confess the word but our hearts and mouths must agree so that we would not be double-minded (James 1:6-7; Rom.10:10, Prov. 23:7). Go into today knowing that as a child of God you are a partner with God in fulfilling His purposes on earth. Don’t give up, contend in faith for every of God’s promise until you see its fulfillment. Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to continue in faith until I see the manifestation of what you have spoken. Amen. Want to be saved? Click here: streamglobe.org/33 — George .E. Fruitful in the Lord 2

John 15:7 (NET) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you. It was really difficult for Bamidele to leave his dishonest ways, but he knew that if he was going to abide in the Lord and be fruitful, he could not continue in his old ways of sin. Even though he was very intelligent, he was more used to making money through fraud and didn’t know any other way of making a living. But as he continued to be taught and mentored in the way of the Lord, he saw that those who truly abide in the Lord and follow Him wholeheartedly in truth are those whose prayers are most powerful. He understood that this meant he could never be in lack and want if he remained in the Lord and was fruitful because then his prayers would be very powerful. He left his old sinful ways and started following the Lord. Some people thought he was crazy, but he didn’t mind. As time passed and Bamidele became more fruitful in the Lord, he would ask God for some of the most unbelievable things and they would be done for him. He eventually became a very successful honest businessman who made much more profit than he ever made during his days of fraud. One reason why those who abide in the Lord are the ones whose prayers are answered the most is that through abiding in the Lord and being transformed by His word, their motives have been purified and their prayers and desires are now in agreement with God’s will for them. God usually does not answer prayers that are not in accordance with His will. Go into today asking the Lord to multiply grace for fruitfulness in your life. Remember that anyone still conformed to this present world cannot be transformed into the nature that makes him fruitful in the Lord. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Deuteronomy 20-22 Click here to get audio sermons: streamglobe.org/34 Streamglobe is interdenominational. Worship and Physical Posture 4

1 Timothy 2:11-15 (KJV) 11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. Today’s scripture is one of the most misunderstood and contested in modern history. But whenever we see such a command, it is important for us to understand the reason why it was given, so that our obedience would be fruitful. In today’s scripture,  Apostle Paul gives the reason why he does not allow women to teach or exercise authority in the church. It is because women can be easily deceived. And we see this trait from the first woman: Eve was deceived and fell for the temptation of the devil. Adam was not deceived, he was simply rebellious. Today, if you see false prophets (the kinds that are not even trying too hard to pretend to be genuine), most of their followers would be women, and the women would be properly deceived. Because of this weakness in women, they become easy targets for lying spirits that know how to masquerade as angels of light in order to deceive God’s people. The devil’s agenda to deceive  God’s people would easily be accomplished if the person at the top can easily be deceived. Women are more easily deceived than men. Nevertheless, we see a clause in verse 15 that allows for women to lead, it says “Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety”. Through childbearing, women are delivered from the weakness that makes it dangerous for them to teach and lead God’s people. I believe this applies to spiritual childbearing as well as physical. You see, by the time a woman has brought and established people into the faith, she is no more a child that can easily be deceived and manipulated through her emotions. When a holy and self-controlled woman has had the privilege of bearing and raising children, that demanding and sacrificial experience makes her wiser and more difficult to deceive. God does not proscribe women from church ministry, but there is a process that a woman called into ministry has to pass through in order for her to be delivered from the weakness that makes it dangerous for her to lead in God’s house. Worship and Physical Posture 3

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour A Christian couple couldn’t have children after over ten years of marriage. This greatly troubled them because the doctors didn’t seem to find anything wrong with either of them. When a servant of God who manifested great grace in the gifts of the Holy Ghost came to minister in their church, they told him about their ordeal. Immediately, the man of God knew by word of knowledge that there was something in their house that was an access point for the demons afflicting their home. After much questioning, it was discovered that they had a sculpture of Buddha in one of their living rooms. The servant of God asked them to get rid of the sculpture and any other sculptures or artworks related to idol worship. They were a little reluctant to do this because these artworks cost them quite a lot, but after the man of God explained to them how those items were used as demonic access points against them, they were ready to get rid of the items. Months after getting rid of the sculpture and paintings, the wife conceived for the first time ever. We have seen previously that religions in the world are very particular about the posture of worship and modes of dressing. It doesn’t end there, religions in the world are also very particular about symbols, signs, and architecture. This is not the case for the believer in Christ. In reality, the Christian faith has no symbol. There is nowhere in the Bible where a symbol was assigned to our faith. The cross is considered a universal symbol for Christianity today because the world needed a symbol to identify Christianity among other religions. When a believer keeps items that carry symbols of other religions and sects, whether he knows it or not, he may be giving certain spirits undue access into his life. The spirit realm is very legalistic, and spirits follow items dedicated to them. After accepting the Lord Jesus, a new believer should get rid of all items related to any religion he practiced in the past. There is a reason the new believers in Acts 19:19 brought out their sorcery books and burned them even though they were very expensive books. Go into today remembering that as a believer, you must be sober and vigilant. Add to your faith knowledge, and don’t suffer unduly because of ignorance. Prayer: Dear Lord, heighten my discernment and help me walk wisely in this world. Amen. Want to be saved? Worship and Physical Posture 2

1 Timothy 2:9-10 (NET) Likewise the women are to dress in suitable apparel, with modesty and self-control. Their adornment must not be with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing, but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God. We saw previously that certain postures [of worship] that people of the world assume are meant to attract certain spirits. This is why religions in the world prescribe the posture a person must assume during worship and prayer if their prayer must be acceptable to their deity. The reason God does not give instructions of the posture of worship to believers in Christ is that unlike other deities,  our God cannot be summoned. He is omnipresent and does not need us to assume any posture or position/way of bowing or kneeling in order for Him to hear us. This same principle of posture also applies to dress and physical appearance. There is a way a person would dress and appear that will make the spirits of his religion more comfortable to fellowship with him. For this same reason,  other religions of the world have their prescribed ways of dressing (and shaving of hair, etc), without which their worship may not be acceptable. Again,  God does not give believers in Christ a prescribed way of appearance in order for our worship to be acceptable. The new covenant is not mediated by angels but by God Himself.  We have no prescriptions of dressing or color code, but we are to dress decently and in a dignified way as is proper for those who profess reverence to God. God specifically instructed His people of old not to dress and appear in ways the pagans around them did(see Leviticus 19:27-28). I believe it was because God didn’t want His people to unknowingly participate in Idol worship (since worship also involves the way a person appears) and inadvertently summon wicked spirits into their lives by the way they appeared. I believe it is no coincidence that after Apostle Paul recommended the lifting up of hands as an acceptable posture of worship(1 Timothy 2:8), he goes on to the matter of dressing and appearance. The two matters of worship posture and physical appearance are somewhat related. Human beings care about their physical appearance and naturally want to look good–it is more so with Women. Christian women are to be dressed in suitable apparel with modesty and self-control. Many have argued that the Bible verses above proscribe the use of jewelry and braiding (plating) of hair for Christian women. But that would be true if women can put on good deeds as they would hair, jewelry, and clothing because the verse says “[t]heir adornment must not be with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing, but with good deeds…”. So women should put on good deeds instead of physical apparel? That is the logical inference one would arrive at if he insists that this verse means Christian women should not braid their hair or put on gold jewelry. This verse is clearly showing where the focus of a Christian woman should be. While the unbeliever woman spends her substance on what she would wear and is wholely preoccupied with her outward appearance,  a godly woman would rather spend her substance on good deeds- (helping the needy,  etc) and would be more preoccupied with how she looks inside–her character. Go into today remembering that the people of this word inadvertently worship and invite the gods of the world by immodest appearances. In Christ, even though we do not have prescribed postures of worship or modes of dressing that are a prerequisite for acceptable worship, we are to assume worship postures and dress in ways that show reverence to our [omnipresent] God. Prayer: Dear Lord, I renounce every way I may have unknowingly invited strange spirits into my life. Help me to be guided by your Spirit in all I do. Amen. Want to be saved? The Purpose of the Anointing

Acts 10:38 (KJV) How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. God promises the anointing to everyone He calls for a specific office or responsibility. This makes such a difference from the rest of the people as such becomes not only consecrated to God but also empowered by God. While many symbols such as anointing oil were used to typify the selection and anointing of God upon a man, scriptures show us that the anointing is a person. It is not a feeling, it is actually the indwelling and abode of a person into the one set apart for God. The anointing is the Holy Spirit. (1John 2:20,27) To those God chooses He anoints with the Holy Spirit. The anointing in the life of Jesus was to fulfill God’s will and mandate, to destroy the works of the devil in the lives of men and to bring men to the knowledge of God. The Holy Spirit we have been anointed with isn’t different. Isaiah 10:27:  And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. As men of old were anointed with the Holy Spirit so they could carry out the will of God, God has anointed us with the Holy Spirit so we can carry out His will in the nations. One of the first proofs of the incoming of the Holy Spirit in the early church was men speaking in the different languages of men. This means the Holy Spirit has come to enable us to reach out to all nations, people groups, and languages. How well are we maximizing the anointing we have received. The anointing of the Holy Spirit enabled Jesus to destroy the works of the devil in His day and to purchase the salvation of all men. What has the anointing of the Holy Spirit enabled you to achieve? Has it been used for amassing wealth, getting titles and taking advantage of weak and helpless souls or has it enabled you to engage the nations, bringing many men into sonship with Christ? Prayer: Lord, this year, please help me make the most of your anointing upon me for your kingdom advancement. Amen. Want to be saved? Strength And Exploits

Daniel 11:32 (KJV) And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. Selvaraj got a much-desired appointment as an assistant to a very powerful and influential business leader. Because he wanted to have a good relationship with this man he would be assisting in executing his duties as the chief executive of a leading global company, Selvaraj took his time to read all the books authored by this man. He did this because he understood that for him to know this man, he had to know the way he thinks, and reading his books was a good way to start. But Selvaraj did not stop there. Before he resumed his appointment, he found out about the things this man liked and disliked. For example, he heard that this man did not like strong perfumes, so even though Salvaraj used a very strong perfume, he changed it. Selvaraj became very close to his boss because he did his due diligence in that regard. In three years, he made CFO of the company because he became so close to his boss that his boss started seeing him as a son. In the kingdom of God, there are some that know God more than others. The degree to which a person knows God is the degree to which he would be strong and do exploits. Closeness to God is intentional, it doesn’t happen by chance. James 2:8 (NET) says “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and make your hearts pure, you double-minded”. God is open for all His children to know, but those who would be close to Him and truly do exploits are those who desire to be close to Him and act in accordance with this desire. As you go into this new year, determine to know God more by giving more time to doing things that would help you know Him more. The Bible is God’s book to help you understand His ways and order your life accordingly. Prayer literally means talking to God. The longer you talk to a person daily, the more you will know him. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for bringing me into this glorious new year. Please help me to be closer to you more than ever before in this year. Help me to be strong and do exploits, In Jesus’ name. Amen. Want to be saved? Worship and Physical Posture

1 Timothy 2:8 (KJV)  I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. Dr. Tunde didn’t give ear to what  Jude had to say because Jude came to his office requesting a favor, but his posture and demeanor were inappropriate. All the while Jude spoke with Dr. Tunde, his hand was inside his pocket and his words were careless. Dr. Tunde concluded that Jude was not a serious individual. Jude lost the opportunity of great help because he did not understand the place of posture and presentation. Because most religions in the world are highly spiritual, they are very particular about the posture people assume in worship. Whether bowing down, sitting in lotus positions, or kneeling, etc, the posture a person assumes maters in his interaction with spirits. Indeed, there are postures that people can take that invite certain kinds of spirits. The lotus position for yoga is a good example. It usually comes as a natural response for people to lift up their hands when they truly admire, adore and worship. Even fans of pop stars intuitively lift hands up during their music performances. It is also quite natural and intuitive to bow in some manner when greeting a person you truly respect, honor, and worship. It is important to note that unlike other religions and sects, believers in Christ do not have a prescribed posture without which our worship and praise would not be accepted. But we are allowed and encouraged to take postures that we would naturally and intuitively take when there is adoration in our hearts towards the one with whom we have to deal. When a believer lifts up his hands to the Lord in worship, it is an extra communication of worship to God beyond words, and it is very powerful. David said “[l]et my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice” (Psalm 141:2). Go into today remembering that your posture in worship is reflective of the posture of your heart, and it can influence the posture of your heart. Also, remember to lift up your hands to the Lord in worship today. Prayer: Father, let the lifting up of my hands be as the evening sacrifice. Let me always dwell in your presence and enjoy the fellowship of your Spirit. Amen. Want to be saved? Commanding Kingdom Authority

Matthew 8:9-10 (KJV)  For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. Ray served as an assistant Pastor in his Church before he was transferred to a new city by his employer and was released by his church. When he got to this new city, he quickly joined a Church assembly the Lord led him to. He noticed however that the Pastor of this Church did not understand the word of God like his former Pastor who had great depth of understanding and the accompanying manifestation of God’s power. Because of this, it was difficult for Ray to submit to this new Pastor. He often complained, murmured and sometimes disobeyed instructions from the pastor. This continued even though he knew that this Church was where the Lord wanted him to serve. The Pastor soon noticed Ray because of his gifts and assigned him responsibilities, but it was still difficult for Ray to submit to this new Pastor. “I am better than this man” he would think. In one of the services where ray ministered, a  demon-possessed man was brought. Ray did all that he could but the demon did not leave. Ray went home heavy, sad, and wondering what went wrong: “Lord, I thought we have gone past this level. More than twenty possessed men were delivered in my former Church, three of them were completely insane and you made them completely whole. Have you left me? Oh, I don’t understand!” Because of this experience, Ray took out time and went for a personal retreat. During the retreat,  the Lord revealed to him that the reason he no longer had the requisite authority to cast out certain demons was because he had not been subject to the authority God placed over him. To have much needed spiritual authority, you must be under God’s authority yourself. This would show in the way you respond to constituted human authorities that God has placed over you. If a man cannot submit to men that God has placed over him, he is not submitted to God. Pray this way: Lord, I receive grace to submit to those you have placed over me,  in Jesus’ name. Amen. The Wisdom of the Just

Luke 1:17 (NET) And he will go as forerunner before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers back to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared for him Every lifestyle is usually built on a worldview. A worldview refers to one’s philosophy or explanation of life. You don’t need to be a grey-bearded philosopher to have a worldview, you don’t even need to be aware of it to have it. Proverbs 14:12 reads, ‘There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death’ (NHEB). This tells you that (even though it leads to death eventually) the person considers that way to be the right way. Here is how it works, take covetousness as an example, a person who subscribes to the view that money is the greatest end/pursuit of life is a potential murderer, thief, swindler, envious and bitter person. He doesn’t need to set out to be all of these, but that is one of the pathways of that ‘way’, and what’s more, he will become good at all of these along the way. What about a man who believes that pleasure or self-satisfaction is the highest pursuit in life? You are looking at a man who is potentially given to lust, is capable (whether now or later) of spiking a lady’s drink to have his way with her, an unstable and unreliable person, a betrayer of trust, etcetera. These are some of the pathways on that ‘way’, and he will get quite skilled at it because there is a ‘wisdom’ that guides these ways. Apostle James spoke about this in James 3:13-16, ‘…But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.’ The wisdom that is from above is revealed in Christ Jesus. It is called the wisdom of the just or the way of righteousness (as some other versions put it). It is peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and not hypocritical (James 3:17). This is why the blessed man (of Psalms 1) does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, no matter how ‘wise’ it sounds. (The counsel of the ungodly is a pattern of thought contrary to God’s word and wisdom). Go into today determined to forsake every false way and to walk in the way of righteousness, always remembering that God’s word is [and imparts] God’s wisdom. Prayer: Lord, help me walk in your wisdom and excel in your divine life. Amen. Not saved?
