Pass On The Blessing
2 Timothy 1:5 (NET) I recall your sincere faith that was alive first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am sure is in you. Ladan realized that his family members were under the power of a curse. From gathering information, he realized that it has been so in his family from the time of his great-grandparents. He didn’t understand how such curses worked, but he was determined to break every ancestral curse in his life and not to pass down any curse but blessings to his children. As he started to pray [and fast] fervently concerning this, one of the first things he received was that there has been a demonic altar set up that has been working against his family. This altar created a demonic civilization that his family unknowingly subscribed to. That was why all the young men and women in the family were very promiscuous and proud. He was instructed that if he destroys a demonic altar and its civilization, he would have to replace that altar with the kingdom of Christ and His righteousness, or his effort would be futile. This meant he would have to consciously and doggedly lead his household in the way of the Lord. His children would know the scriptures even before they know their books. He would institute traditions in his household that engender the flow of God’s grace and the prosperity of God’s word. We can see from today’s Bible text that timothy’s faith (which is the greatest blessing) was passed down to him. If an ancestor of yours could cut covenant with demons and leverage his entire bloodline to demonic control, you as a child of God can destroy such covenants and institute the blessing of God into your family. Go into today determined to introduce generational blessings into your family by walking in the covenant of life and peace that is in Christ Jesus. Want to be saved? Interactive Bible Study Manual 8
Theme: Marriage, Divorce, Remarriage and Forgiveness. Topic: Marriage as God intended Text: Genesis 2:18 INTRODUCTION Marriage was initiated by God. It was God’s idea not man’s. For it to be successful, the guidelines outlined by God in the scriptures must be followed. Anybody who tries to break the laws of God will end up breaking himself (or herself) and proving that the word of God is true. This also applies to those who try to break God’s laws regarding marriage. After the fall, a lot of things in the world became perverted including the institution of marriage. Some of these perversions came to be accepted as the norm within certain cycles including some Christian cycles. Our aim in this series of studies is to look at the subject of marriage as God originally intended and also correct some of the wrong concepts of marriage using the scripture as our guide. DISCUSSIONS 1) What is Marriage? 2) God has ordained and blessed marriage. Gen. 2:18, Prov. 5:18, Prov.18:22, Eccl. 9:9, Matt. 19:4-5 3) It gives strength and companionship: Gen. 2:18, Eccl. 4:9-11 4) Marriage is a commitment: Matt. 19:4-6, Cor. 7:10 5) The husband’s responsibility towards his wife: (i) Love – Eph. 5:25,28,33. Pass On Wisdom
2 Timothy 3:15 (NLT) You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. Many successful people in life can be traced to a mother who brought her child up to be a success; a mother who prayed for and supported her child when no one else would. But there are some mothers that would not only be thanked on earth when the greatest awards and rewards on earth are given to their children, these mothers would also be thanked in the life to come when their sons and daughters receive the greatest rewards of all time and eternity. Timothy was one of such people whose mother not only taught him about life and human wisdom but also taught him the Holy Scriptures that gave him the wisdom to receive salvation. This is the greatest thing any parent can give to their children. The child is the one who will ultimately make his decision whether to follow the Lord or not. But what a Christian parent can do is to teach their children the word of the Lord and be an example of the things they teach. They should also lead their children to consciously accept Christ when they are old enough to understand what that means. The word of God in their hearts will lead them on the path of wisdom that will make them saved, not because their parents instructed them so, but because they too can see the truth for themselves. Go into today remembering that the greatest thing you can do for someone is to facilitate his salvation from eternal death to eternal life. Not saved? Click here ☞ www.streamglobe.org/33 -Pst. Whose Work Are You Doing?
John 15:16 (KJV) Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you. The story was told of an English missionary who left all to follow God’s ordination for his life in one of the African Nations. His effort had produced many churches, schools, and many community development programs. After about twenty years of undying commitment to God by all human judgment, the Lord appeared to him and asked ‘‘when will you start doing what I sent you here to do?’’ God had sent him to Africa to raise men for Him but for many years he did something else. If men were to judge, he would have been judged obedient and successful but God said he had not begun his work. We saw something similar with Abraham whose obedience was swift when God told him to leave his people and Nation for a land He would show him (Genesis 12:1-4), then, after twenty-five years, God returned and asked that he walk before him and be perfect (Genesis 17:1). You see, it is possible to have begun in obedience to God but later sway into imperfection and end up doing your own work and not God’s. Note that material prosperity may not always translate to God’s approval: this means that our judgment of success must be more than earthly results and prosperity. We have to get checkups regularly from the one who called us. Go into today knowing that you have to go for checkup regularly if you want to walk perfectly before God. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me to remain simple and humble to accept your corrections. Want to be saved? Discerning False Doctrines
1 Timothy 6:3-4 (NET) If someone spreads false teachings and does not agree with sound words (that is, those of our Lord Jesus Christ) and with the teaching that accords with godliness, he is conceited and understands nothing, but has an unhealthy interest in controversies and verbal disputes. This gives rise to envy, dissension, slanders, evil suspicions One of the most dangerous things I hear certain progressive teachers of the word say is that the words and teachings of our Lord Jesus while He walked the earth are old Testament and are not for the church, that only the epistles (written after the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus) are valid because the new covenant started after Jesus resurrected. Even judging that position normally and logically, it does not make much sense. No one gives the testament of a Covenant after it has been ratified, it is always given before it is ratified. No one signs a contract document before writing it, signing is done after the document has been written. Jesus gave His New Testament through His teachings and commandments in the three and a half years of His earthly ministry, before He ratified it by His death on the cross. In today’s Bible verse, we see that false teaching is any teaching that does not agree with the words of our Lord Jesus. Any teacher that uses the excuse of “that was old Testament” to explain away a doctrine of the Lord Jesus is teaching something false. For example, if a teacher tries to convince you that you shouldn’t ask God to forgive your sins when the Lord clearly teaches us to repent of our sins, that teacher is nothing but a false teacher. Just like junk foods taste sweeter but are really not healthy, false doctrines might appear sweeter to the flesh, but they are toxic to your new born again spirit. Go into today remembering that any teacher who tries to explain away the words of our Lord Jesus is a false teacher. Prayer: Lord, deliver me and cleanse me from the influence of every false teacher. Give me shepherds afters your heart that will feed me with knowledge and understanding (Jer 3:15). Amen. Want to be saved? Faithful In Little
2 Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV) I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. When it was time for Chief Ola to hand over the management of his great company to his children, he didn’t reward them according to their age but according to their wisdom and faithfulness in the assignments he had given them earlier. The ones who were not faithful hoped that they would get something, but the ones who were faithful knew that they were going to get something. The ones who weren’t faithful dreaded the day their father would call them to give account for their management of his business, but the ones who were faithful longed for the day their father would call them to give account. Those who have truly been busy serving the Lord with their lives here on earth know in their spirits that their reward is being stored up for them. They know that they will be rewarded eternally because they have spent their lives serving the Lord faithfully, and they know that the one who they are serving is faithful and just (see Heb 6:10, Rev 22:12). One of the ways to check if you are serving Christ with your life in truth is to check whether or not you long for His appearing. Those who are serving the Lord in truth will long for His appearing because they understand that His appearing will mark the beginning of their indescribable glory and reward. Go into today remembering that God will judge your every action in life. His judgment is because He wants to reward you for your work here on earth. Want to be saved? Job or Ministry?
Colossians 3:23-24 (KJV) And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. You probably may have heard people say that ‘‘my job is my ministry, this is where I serve God”. By saying this they mean that whatever their hands find to do which is not evil will be rewarded by God as long as it is done heartily. One of the verses used as back up is today’s Bible text. It is however sad that although Christians work in almost all the available offices, the kingdom of God is not expressed in such offices. What might the problem be? Note that your job becomes relevant to God’s kingdom agenda only when it affords Him an opportunity in such an office or sphere. If you do a job that refuses God this opportunity and/or hinders you from serving God in the capacity that God has ordained that you serve Him, such a job is a distraction, and no matter how committed or faithful you are in executing your duty, you will not get any eternal reward from God. Your job is not your ministry if you are not ministering the realities(nature, power, character) of God to people through it or in it. Someone may ask, what about Pastors or Ministers whose job is directly related to preaching or ministering the gospel? To answer this, we must understand that for the purpose of this teaching, ministry means bringing God’s kingdom and will to a particular sphere (Matthew 6:10) which could be your workplace. It is possible to be a preacher and yet not be a minister of God. This happens when preaching is only perceived as a job. Go into today knowing that your job is relevant to God’s kingdom (and your assignment in it) to the degree to which it allows God’s will and kingdom to flow. Pray this way: Lord, help me to serve you acceptably for the rest of my life. Want to be saved? Your Work Will Be Tested
1 Corinthians 3:13-15 (KJV) Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Caleb visited Jude but couldn’t see him because he was on a retreat. He visited again after several days and still couldn’t speak with Jude because the retreat had not ended. After some time, Caleb met Jude in the Church and asked ‘‘Jude, what were you praying for?’’ Jude put up a smile and said ‘‘I want the mantle of Apostle Paul”. Oh, that’s a great one! Caleb exclaimed. Shortly after this Caleb and Jude were appointed by their Pastor to oversee cleaning the Church, but Jude became very sad. Why are you sad? Caleb asked. ‘‘Don’t you get it? I want to be an apostle, not a common Church cleaner” he responded. Just like Jude, many zealous children of God have despised the current assignment God gave them for other works they consider to be more prestigious. In a bid to be celebrated as great servants of God they have created offices for themselves. Others have spent their lives desiring to be greatly used by God while abandoning the everyday assignment committed to them by Him. They do not realize that only those who are unfaithful in little can be given much, and only those who are unfaithful in another man’s work can be given their own (see Luke 16:10-12). Apostle Paul explained that what he had done was according to the grace given to him. Neither he nor Apollos chose to be apostles; they simply followed God and became what He ordained them to be. 1 Corinthians 3:5-6 (KJV) Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. Your hard work will gain eternal relevance when in the spirit of humility and service, it is channeled in the direction of the grace given to you (1 Corinthians 15:10). Go into today knowing that God will reward you only for the work he has sent you to do. Self-appointed assignments would count for nothing and be burned up on that day. Prayer: ask the Lord for a humble and obedient heart. — Dr, Emmanuel James Yearly Bible Reading: Mark 1-2 (In Devotional Audio) Join Our WhatsApp Group to Start Getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio From us early every day. The Washing of the Word
John 17:17 (KJV) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. Phillip was excited to attend a reunion party organized for the old students of his university. There he met old friends and even old girlfriends. You see, Phillip became born again three years after he graduated from university. But when he was on campus, he was a very ungodly person. He had many godless friends and led a reckless immoral life. But now that he was born again, his life was transformed by the power of God’s grace. The time he spent in that party was characterized by many unwholesome conversations that he wasn’t comfortable with. His old friends who were excited to see him started such conversations with him because they did not know that he was now born again. When he came out of that party, he felt so defiled and unclean. Dirty thoughts filled his mind and he struggled with them. When he got back home, he picked up his Bible and started reading it. As he continued to read and dwell in the Word, he felt washed and refreshed. He no longer felt unclean on the inside. This was how the Lord cleansed and renewed his soul (Ps 23:3). We see in Ephesians 5:26 that the way Christ sanctifies His Church is with the washing of water by the word. This is an explanation of John 17:17 above. In John 15:3, Jesus told His disciples that ‘you are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you’. Go into today remembering that the word of God is the water of the spirit that washes and sanctifies us. Prayer: Lord, help me abide in your word always. Want to be saved? The Believers Authority 2
Ephesians 1:22 (KJV) And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church. Until Laide truly started believing that she had authority over the devil and darkness, she couldn’t walk in this authority even though she had believed. As she started reading and hearing sermons about the spiritual authority of the believer, faith came to her by the hearing of the word, and she started walking in the authority of Christ. Everything we receive in God’s kingdom is received by faith. It is obvious that Jesus has been put “far above” the kingdom of Satan and made to be “the head over the church.” If Jesus is far above Satan’s kingdom and Satan is below His feet, then something has to be in between. That something between Jesus and Satan is the church. Jesus has given us authority over Satan except you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour by faith. Jesus conquered Satan through the work of the cross and resurrection, and then He gave us the rightful authority to use His name and see the devil run from us. In Mark 16:17 Jesus says, And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues. Thank God for the name of Jesus! Satan hates that name, and all of heaven loves to hear it repeated. Every time the name of Jesus is used, both hell and heaven remember that day. Hell trembles and heaven rejoices. We have been left here in the earth to stand in the place Jesus stood as Christ’s personal representatives (2 Corinth. 5:20) and see people come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior, Healer, and Provider. There are many today who are suffering from demonic oppression, afflictions, and plagued with infirmities simply because they don’t know and believe the power that is in the name of Jesus and the authority that has been conferred on them as believers. Mark 16:17-18 makes us understand that ‘These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: they will cast out demons in Jesus’ name, if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed’. Halleluyah! Go into today asking the Lord to teach you to use your authority and walk in his liberty; bringing many others into this liberty. Jesus has become the head of all things! Prayer: Father, please help me walk in my authority in Christ. Amen. Want to be saved? Click here: www.streamglobe.org/33 — George .E.
