Mercy For You
2 Peter 3:9 (KJV), “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Grey was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. He had accidentally murdered his wife when in a heated argument and fight with her because he heard she was cheating on him. While in prison, he discovered that what he heard about his wife was false. He became really sad and thought himself deserving of the maximum punishment. “What came on me? After I’d preached against evil I’m now a victim of what I preached against”. After Grey had spent some years in prison, he was fortunate to be selected for a mass presidential pardon, and he was granted a pardon. He, however, turned down the pardon telling the warder that he doesn’t even deserve normal death. The prison officers and many of his brethren tried their best to persuade him but he vehemently refused the freedom. “I killed my innocent wife, I deserve the punishment, just let me die here. Why should a man like me be pardoned?” he retorted. Every other inmate whose name made the list was released but Grey remained in prison. One of Satan’s greatest lies is making you feel you have done something so terrible that you cannot be forgiven by God. He even makes some think they have committed the unpardonable sin. But this is not true, if you can feel sorry for what you have done, you can be forgiven by God. The one who has committed the unpardonable sin will never feel he has offended God, he may be remorseful and even regret it but will never think of repenting. No matter how terrible the mistake, offense, or sin is, if you will turn to God in repentance and ask for his forgiveness, He will have mercy and forgive you. Proverbs 28:13 (KJV) “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Go into today knowing that God’s mercy can be yours if you confess your sins and forsake them. No sin is too grievous for God to forgive if you can turn to Him in repentance and ask for mercy. Prayer: Ask the Holy Spirit to search you, then confess and forsake any sin that He brings to your remembrance. Ask Him for grace to live above sin. —Dr. Emmanuel James Yearly Bible Plan: Psalms 36-38Streamglobe is interdenominational. Be Fruitful
John 15:16 (NET) You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that remains, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. Moyin noticed that the rate at which Kemi received answers to her prayers was really remarkable. There was a day they were traveling together, and it was about to rain and disrupt the meeting they were going for. Moyin had prayed and prayed in her heart concerning the rain, but nothing happened and the rain started. As soon as she called Kemi to pray, while Kemi was still praying, the heavy rainfall reduced and eventually stopped miraculously. There were many other examples of how Kemi received from the Lord more, and Moyin became concerned. ‘Does it mean that God loves Kemi more than me?’ Moyin would ask herself. She went into days of prayer to seek God’s face concerning why He didn’t answer her prayers the way He answered Kemi’s prayers. This was when the Lord showed her that Kemi was a much more fruitful Christian than her, that this was why Kemi had God’s ear. We can see from today’s Bible text that when we are fruitful, we can ask and receive more expressly from the Father. Many Christians have fruitless prayer lives because other areas of their lives are fruitless before God. A fruitful Christian is one whose life and character manifests the fruit of the Spirit. He is also one who wins souls to the kingdom of God. He is a profitable servant of the Lord who uses his resources [talents and gifts] for the advancement of God’s kingdom in this world. Go into today remembering that when all is said and done, we will be rewarded according to our fruitfulness (see Rev 22:12, Matt 16:27, Rom 2:6). Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you become more fruitful. -Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible Plan: I Samuel 11-15 Join Our Interactive Online Bible Study Today by 2pm(WAT). Sowing to the Spirit 2
Galatians 6:7-8 (NASB) Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. David observed that each time Dan drove his car, something will go bad in his car, and it will be something that has nothing to do with his style or manner of driving. For example, the last time Dan drove his car, the ignition system packed up the next day. David wondered why things like that happened to Dan. It appeared that “bad luck” was what followed Dan. After David had more spiritual understanding, he realized that indeed Dan was walking under the force of corruption because he was reaping the dividends of what he had been sowing for most of his adult life. Dan was particularly bold in iniquity; he lived a very immoral life and had had many girls commit numerous abortions for him. The force of corruption was what was now hunting Dan’s life and was destroying everything good his hands touched. When you see someone who is praying in the spirit for several hours every day, he is sowing to the Spirit. Don’t be surprised when tomorrow you see him easily exercise authority over demons and sicknesses. He is reaping the dividends of eternal life because he has been sowing to the Spirit. When you see someone who is committed to giving his money and resources for the advancement of the gospel, don’t be surprised when tomorrow you see him walk in supernatural peace and abundance. Go into today knowing that each time you indulge in a work of the flesh, you are sowing to the flesh, but each time you walk in the Spirit, you are sowing to the Spirit, and you will reap the benefit of eternal life as a result. Eternal life transcends time and manifests in this present life. Prayer: Lord, help me sow to the Spirit and never again to the flesh. Sowing to the Spirit
Galatians 6:7-8 (NASB) Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Frank and Boniface were classmates and close friends, and they both accepted the Lord Jesus the same day. Boniface took his walk with the Lord very seriously. He was committed to prayer and studying the word. He fasted often and was committed to evangelism. Two weeks after he believed, he ensured that he got baptized because he now understood the importance. All his neighbors knew that something had changed about him. Frank on the other hand “took things easy”. He was now going to church and now had a Bible app in his phone and a few sermons that motivated him toward business productivity, but he was not committed to prayers and did not really study his Bible. Unlike Boniface, he still maintained his relationship with his girlfriend, but they now vowed that they would no longer be intimate (a vow they had broken more than six times in three months). After a few months, it became evident that Boniface was reaping the dividends of eternal life while Frank was still the same old Frank with a few tweaks. Through his devotion to the Lord; his diligence in prayers and in studying the word, Boniface had been sowing to the spirit, and he was now reaping the dividends of eternal life. The manifestation of this life was the reason why he could now easily cast out demons, heal the sick, walk in divine health himself, etc. Even his academics was affected by this life. He was not particularly a bright student, but after his encounter with eternal life, his understanding opened and he became a top student in his school. Both Frank and Boniface received eternal life as a seed when they believed in Christ Jesus, but Boniface was diligent in sowing to the spirit by giving God priority in His life and doing the things that built up his spirit man. Because of this, his spirit(inner) man became strong and robust, and the eternal life in his spirit could now dominate even his visible life. Go into today remembering the words of today’s scripture. Be deliberate and intentional about sowing to the Spirit. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me sow to the Spirit and not to the flesh. Help me walk in the reality and power of your eternal life. —Abraham Dami Arigi Bible In 1 Year: I Corinthians 9-10 Streamglobe is interdenominational. Giving God True Honor
Romans 12:1 (NET)Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice – alive, holy, and pleasing to God – which is your reasonable service. Amaka habitually dishonored her husband by talking to him rudely in the presence of her family members. She did this again and again but didn’t seem to agree that she was doing anything wrong. When her husband was tired of being dishonored by his wife in public, he became cold towards her and wouldn’t eat her food nor discuss with her like he used to. In order to appease him, Amaka used all her savings to buy him a pair of expensive shoes he had always wanted. He didn’t accept them because she refused to apologize and accept that what she was doing was wrong. It took the intervention of their pastor for this matter to be resolved, and it was resolved. Our gifts of honor are useless when our character continues to dishonor. More important than the sacrifice of our money to God is the sacrifice of fleshly pleasures and our will as an honor to Him. Everyone is familiar with the reality of honoring God with money, but the sacrifice of the flesh and will are underemphasized, and that is why many do not walk in the blessing that comes with honoring God. In Genesis 4:5, we can see that God was not pleased with Cain and with his offering. If a man’s life is not acceptable before God, his offerings would not be acceptable to God. Go into today remembering that honoring God with your body is more important than honoring Him with your money. Anyone can easily part with some money, but the man who truly honors God would part with fleshly pleasures that war against his soul (see 1 Pet 2:11) Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the grace to honor you in truth, in Jesus’ name. Amen. —Utieyin Uduaghan & Abraham Dami Arigi Bible In 1 Year: Mark 3-4 Streamglobe is interdenominational. Kindly share this Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. Appropriating God’s Promises 3
Isaiah 43:18-22( KJV) Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel. Because Juliet became impatient with her parents, she did not get all the information needed for the understanding of God’s plan for her life. If she had been patient, her Dad would have explained everything she needed to know to her at the appointed time. She suffered pain and rejection however because of her impatience. After you must have believed that God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6) and have learned the lesson of faith and patience (Hebrews 6:12), you will also need to learn how to call on God without getting weary. Isaiah 43:21-22 (KJV) reads, “This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel. Although you have been formed by God to show forth his praise, God says you will have to call upon Him and never get weary doing so. Calling on God entails: 1. Reminding God of his promises; Isaiah 43:26 (KJV). “Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified”. 2. Fighting the adversaries and confronting adversities; 1 Corinthians 16:9 (KJV), “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.” Go into today knowing that after you must have checked and confirmed that you have followed God’s instructions but the manifestation of blessings are not forthcoming, what you must do then is warfare; fight the adversaries. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible In One Year: Job 23-24 Streamglobe is interdenominational. Mercy For All
Acts 17:30 (ESV), “The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent”. When Jonathan flew in a plane for the first time and was served complimentary meals, he did not touch the meals even though he truly wished he could have them. When he saw others eating and drinking, he wondered if they had paid extra for the meals. But since he had no extra cash with which he could pay, he chose not to touch the meals. He eventually discovered that whatever was served was his because he was on the plane. There are many Jonathans in our world today who will not receive what is freely offered to them because of ignorance or other reasons best known to them. Because of this, they have missed out on opportunities that would have bettered their lives. One of such free gifts is God’s mercy made available through Jesus Christ. Because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, God’s mercy has been freely extended to all, and whosoever comes to Christ can have it. John 3:16-17 (KJV) reads, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” Jesus Christ lived and died for all the world and whatever resulted from his life, death and resurrection are freely available for all (the whole world). Yet, there are so many who have not found this love yet. Many have died and others are dying without accessing God’s mercy. Go into today knowing that because God loves you, His son has died for you and because of Him, God is now offering you mercy. All you have to do is believe in the Lord Jesus and you’ll begin to enjoy God’s mercy. Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for dying and making mercy available to me. I put my faith in you and confess that you are my Lord. Henceforth, I will enjoy your mercy because I believe in you. Come Boldly 2
Hebrews 10:21-22 (NET) and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings, because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water. Dorcas was very young when she accepted the Lord Jesus. But when she got to the university campus, she mingled with the wrong friends and backslide. During the period of her backsliding, she entered a relationship that almost led to marriage, but when she was restored back to the Lord she knew she could not continue in that sinful relationship. But it was so difficult for her to leave the relationship so she didn’t. She found that as long as she was in that sinful relationship, she could not pray and commune with the Lord the way she needed to. She just found that there seemed to be this hindrance in her heart and no matter what she did, she couldn’t draw near to God the way she needed to. She kept confessing that her right standing with God was not because of her merit but because of the righteousness of Jesus Christ, but she still found that she couldn’t draw near to the Lord in her heart. When she discussed her frustration with her pastor, she discovered that it was because of a guilty conscience. She got her spiritual breakthrough when she ended the sinful relationship and freed her conscience. From today’s Bible verse, we see that in order to draw near to God, we need to have a sincere heart that is full of assurance (which is based on faith in the righteousness of Jesus); we need to have our hearts free from a guilty conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Our bodies washed with pure water corresponds to water baptism which is an appeal to God for a good conscience (see 1 Peter 3:21). Baptism is God’s provision to deal with the generic human problem of a guilty conscience (even after true repentance). Never forget that the old sinful you died and was buried through baptism (see Romans 6:3-4). Go into today remembering that as long as your conscience is clear before God, and you are not trusting in your merit but in the righteousness of Christ, you can approach God’s throne to obtain mercy and find grace to help you in time of need. Grace is what we need to fulfill our glorious destinies in God. Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you walk totally free of a guilty conscience so that you can make the most of the access we have to Him. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible In One Year: Psalms 33-35 Streamglobe is interdenominational. Come Boldly
Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. When Stella was in the university, she heard that there was a scholarship for the students from her state, and she met the criteria. But in order to obtain the scholarship, she had to fill a form, scan and submit some documents, and show up for a screening. The scholarship was offering so much money that it sounded too good to be true, so Stella did not believe the news. Stella did not get the scholarship because she did not believe the news. Later, she heard the governor of her state saying that a lot of the scholarship fund was unutilized because only very few students applied. There was sufficient scholarship money but Stella could not obtain her part of it because she did not apply. The things we receive from the Lord are received because of His mercy not because of our merit. It is because of His mercy that we receive His salvation: It is because of His mercy that we can receive His grace and blessings, etc. The Mercy of God is abundant and available but in order to obtain it, you have to come boldly to the throne of grace (see Hebrews 4:16). Coming boldly to the throne of grace is the way we apply for the mercy of God. How then do we come boldly? We come boldly to the throne of grace by putting our faith in Christ Jesus and trusting in His righteousness as the reason why God accepts us. If we trust in any other thing, we would not be able to come boldly. Go into today remembering that it is because of the righteousness of Jesus that we can come boldly to the throne of grace and obtain mercy. Prayer Confession: I have right-standing with God not because of my merit, but because of the righteousness of Jesus Christ my Lord. I walk in the graces and blessings that Jesus has paid for. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible In One Year: I Samuel 6-10 Streamglobe is interdenominational. This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel. Just before Juliet was born, an angel of the Lord had appeared to her Dad giving him information and instructions concerning his daughter. One of such instructions was that she was not to be brought up with affluence; she was to learn to be moderate, firm, and trust God for her needs because of the nature of the assignment God has for her. Even when her parents told her about these things, she could not understand why the only daughter of a billionaire will be treated as a commoner by her own parents. In anger and pain, she abandoned her parents and left the house to go seek after what she considered a better life. The best she got however was nothing compared to what her parents were offering. After much frustration, she returned to her parents only to discover that all her father’s estate had been willed to her. “But Dad, why didn’t you tell me you have willed all you have to me all along?” She asked, “didn’t I told you I have good plans for you?” her Dad replied. She became ashamed of her actions and asked for the forgiveness of her parents. “I am so sorry for not trusting you” she pleaded. It is by faith in God through Jesus Christ that you become enlisted for the promised blessings. It is however by trusting God continually and unwaveringly that you will become a partaker of the blessings. This will require process and time, you will have to demonstrate faithfulness before God will entrust the resources of His kingdom to you. The second thing needed to appropriate God’s promised blessings is faith and patience. Hebrews 6:12 (KJV), “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises”. Go into today asking God for the faith and patience needed for you to obtain the promises. If you have judged God unfaithful and have abandoned him like Juliet did her parents, repent and ask for God’s forgiveness. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible In One Year: Genesis 44-47 Streamglobe is interdenominational.
