Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
When Stella was in the university, she heard that there was a scholarship for the students from her state, and she met the criteria. But in order to obtain the scholarship, she had to fill a form, scan and submit some documents, and show up for a screening. The scholarship was offering so much money that it sounded too good to be true, so Stella did not believe the news.
Stella did not get the scholarship because she did not believe the news. Later, she heard the governor of her state saying that a lot of the scholarship fund was unutilized because only very few students applied. There was sufficient scholarship money but Stella could not obtain her part of it because she did not apply.
The things we receive from the Lord are received because of His mercy not because of our merit. It is because of His mercy that we receive His salvation: It is because of His mercy that we can receive His grace and blessings, etc.
The Mercy of God is abundant and available but in order to obtain it, you have to come boldly to the throne of grace (see Hebrews 4:16). Coming boldly to the throne of grace is the way we apply for the mercy of God.
How then do we come boldly?
We come boldly to the throne of grace by putting our faith in Christ Jesus and trusting in His righteousness as the reason why God accepts us. If we trust in any other thing, we would not be able to come boldly.
Go into today remembering that it is because of the righteousness of Jesus that we can come boldly to the throne of grace and obtain mercy.
Prayer Confession: I have right-standing with God not because of my merit, but because of the righteousness of Jesus Christ my Lord. I walk in the graces and blessings that Jesus has paid for.
