The Spirit Filled Life
1 John 4:4 (NIV) You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. The prince of this world is the devil. He is the one in this world and he has a lot of experience (see 1 John 4:4). By human strength(will and determination) no man can prevail against him. The reason why those born of God will overcome him is because the Holy Spirit that dwells within them is greater than the devil. The Spirit that dwells in the believer is so much greater than the devil that He was the one who created the devil and He is infinitely more powerful than the devil. The devil knows that as long as a believer is filled with the Holy Spirit and walks in the Spirit, he doesn’t stand a chance against that believer. He will do everything possible to deceive the believer and distract him from the place of fellowship and communion with the Holy Spirit. He will do everything to cause the believer to break fellowship with the Spirit since he cannot do ANYTHING to cause the Holy Spirit to break fellowship with the believer. We can see from Ephesians 5:18-21 that thanksgiving is an ingredient of a Spirit-filled life. An unthankful heart cannot be filled with the Holy Spirit because such a heart is not walking in the will of God. Thanksgiving in all things is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus (see 1 Thessalonians 5:18). If the devil can get you to focus more on your challenges and become unthankful in your heart, he has succeeded in hindering you from being filled with the Spirit. Go into today remembering to count your blessings and focus on the good in your life(Philippians 4:8). You can begin by thanking the Lord for forgiving your sins (see Psalm 103:1). You could never have been able to pay for that. Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you to be thankful in all things. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: Leviticus 25-27 (In Devotional Audio) If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, Send us a message or Click here to join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/IpIyi4YBzxJAMphlwMaNBW Send WhatsApp messages to +2348034420524, +2348138224547 (send Testimonies and Inquiries here too) Join our Daily Zoom Bible Study. 2pm-3pm(WAT) Everyday except Sundays. Lesson From Lot’s Family
Matthew 24:13 (KJV) “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” Sodom and Gomorrah had gotten to the very peak of evil and wickedness in human history and God was going to rain down fire on them so the world could be purged of their wickedness. Lot, however, was a good man living in a wicked city, the wickedness of the people of the city vexed him every day (2 Peter 2:7). God, being the good God that He is, was bent on saving every good person in the city, and Lot and his family made the list, but when they kept dragging, the angels of God had to hurry them out of the city by holding their hands. Once they were out of the city, the angels said to them “escape for your lives, don’t look back, keep moving until you arrive at your new destination” (see Genesis 19:17) and they all said “yes” and continued to walk away from the city. But Lot’s wife chose to look back in defiance to the Angel’s instruction and became a pillar of salt. Our world is a corrupt place, yet like Lot and his family, we have to live here. The results of its corruption and wickedness will continue to cause us pain just like Sodom and Gomorrah kept vexing Lot. In Matthew 13:30, the Lord said, “Let both grow together until the harvest”, however, there is blessedness for those who suffer and mourn because of this pain; “they shall be comforted” said the Lord in Matthew 5:4. Also, God has not left us alone, he has sent the spirit of his son into our heart so we might be comforted by him during our passage in this wicked world (Galatians 4:6). However, just like Lot and his family were instructed to keep moving and not to look back, we also must keep moving and not look back, for it is he that shall endure unto the end that shall be saved (Matthew 24:13). Go into today thinking about what Jesus said, “no man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62 KJV). Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me never to look away from you. Help me Lord to run this race to the end. Now are we sons of God
1 John 3:2-3 (KJV) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Joke knew that she was not as close to the Lord as her younger sister even though both of them were born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit. There were times that when Joke really wanted to know the mind of the Lord concerning an issue, she would have to ask her sister to pray for her and seek the face of the Lord. When she asked her sister the secret of her robust relationship with the Lord, she realized that it was because her sister spent more time with the Lord, and was more submissive to His authority. It is true that it is during the resurrection that our real [unlimited, powerful and glorious] nature as sons of God will be revealed(Romans 8:23), but before the resurrection is when we would build our relationship with the Lord as His sons. Even though in this body of flesh, we do not have the capacity to walk in the fulness of our nature as sons of God, we already have the privilege to walk in fellowship with God as sons of God. During this time we spend in this body of flesh, we have the privilege of knowing God and becoming very close to Him. Those who would be closest to the Lord during His millennial reign are those who built fellowship and commitment to him in spite of the limitations of the flesh now. They would just continue that fellowship at a higher level. The question today is: do you know the Lord? Do you know His voice? Do you have fellowship with Him? One thing we would no longer be able to experience after the resurrection is the fellowship of his suffering(Phillipians 3:10). But know that it is those that suffer [with Him] that will reign with Him (see 2 Timothy 2:12). Anytime you are inconvenienced, insulted, mistreated [and refuse to retaliate], persecuted, because of the testimony of Jesus Christ, it is recorded in heaven that you are suffering for and with Christ. Any inconvenient situation you endure that you wouldn’t have endured if you did not belong to Christ, is recorded as suffering for and with Christ. Go into today remembering that you are a son of God even now. Relate with God that way. Grow in the knowledge of God as much as you can now because the knowledge of God you have now will stay with you for all eternity. Prayer: Lord, help me never forget that I am your son. Help me walk in the reality and power of sonship. Are We All God’s Sons?
John 1:12 (NET) “But to all who have received him – those who believe in his name – he has given the right to become God’s children”. Jesus told a story about a poor man named Lazarus who died and was carried by angels to Abraham’s bosom and a rich man who lived sumptuously without regard for poor Lazarus who begged at his gate, the rich man also died and went to hell. In hell, the rich man called Abraham “Father Abraham” (Luke 16:24) and Abraham also called him “son” (Luke 16:25) but neither his acknowledgment of Abraham as father or Abraham’s acknowledgment of him as son prevented him from going to or remaining in hell (See full story in Luke 16:19-31). What exactly was the problem with this rich man who obviously was of the seed of Abraham? Abraham did not deny him, yet he was in hell. This is what Jesus said regarding this, “If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham” (John 8:39). So, he was in hell because he did not do the works of Abraham. If there is more to being Abraham’s son than just being of his race, In like manner, there is more to being God’s son than just carrying the nomenclature “Christian”. In Matthew 7:21, Jesus said, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven”. This means that a baptized, holy communion eating, tongue-speaking church-attending Christian who will not do the will of God is not a son of God. God testifying of Jesus said, “this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17 KJV) – Jesus was God’s beloved son because he pleased him. Are you God’s son? Can God give similar testimony about you? Are you pleasing God? If your answer is not a resounding yes, it means you have some scores to settle with God. Turn to God in repentance and ask his forgiveness. Thereafter, seek to do only His will. Go into today remembering that it is only those who do the will of God that will enter into God’s kingdom. Prayer: Help me Father to always do your will so I can always be your son in Jesus’ name. Living As Sons
Genesis 1:28 (KJV) “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”. Ursula woke up from her sleep because she heard her little child’s cry, “what might be wrong?” she muttered. Hurrying to the living room, she saw her husband with a cane and heard him saying, “you are my child, you, therefore, must obey me”. She walked back to the bedroom to continue her sleep but she couldn’t, she kept hearing the voice of her husband, “you are my child, you, therefore, must obey me”. Since the voice wouldn’t go away, she sat up on her bed and eventually discovered that God was the one speaking to her. Just like Ursula heard, if you are God’s son, you also must obey him – children are commanded to obey their parents (Eph 6:1, Col 3:20). You show that God is your father when you obey him. God gave a blessing which doubles as an instruction in today’s text, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion” he said. You see, God’s sons are his agents on earth, they are the ones who by being fruitful expand God’s frontier and multiply His dominion on earth. Are you fruitful? Are you replenishing and dominating the earth for God? Is the kingdom of God expanding and gaining recognition because of you? Are you useful to God? Go into today remembering that if you are God’s son, you will obey him. Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to obey you in all things, so that my fruitfulness may appear to all. Understanding the Will of The Lord
Ephesians 5:17 (NKJV)Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. From today’s Bible verse, it is quite clear that when a person does not understand what the will of the Lord is, he is unwise. Before you understand a thing, you must first know it or receive the information that is to be understood. Many believers do not know the will of the Lord. That is why they do not understand it and walk in it. Reading the Bible, reading edifying books, listening to sermons that help you understand the word of God, etc., is the key to understanding the will of God and walking in divine wisdom. This wisdom is superior to the one the prince of this world operates, and through it we overcome the world. The church was ordained by God to be the instrument through which He showcases His manifold wisdom (see Eph 3:10). As a member of the Church, your life should reveal the wisdom of God. This is only possible when you understand and walk in the will of the Lord. Go into today remembering that knowing the will of God concerning every situation is the secret of walking in divine wisdom. This is only possible when you give attention to the word of God and fellowship with the Spirit. Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you pay more attention to learning and understanding His word. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: Psalms 90-92 (In Devotional Audio) If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, Send us a message or Click here to join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/IpIyi4YBzxJAMphlwMaNBW Send WhatsApp messages to +2348034420524, +2348138224547 (send Testimonies and Inquiries here too) http://listen.streamglobe.org/Devotional%20Audio%201357.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | Download ()Subscribe: RSS
Privilege of sonship
Ephesians 1:18 (KJV) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints Felicia accepted the Lord Jesus but did not know and appreciate the benefit and privilege of being a child of God. As far as she was concerned, every human being is a child of God, so she did not see anything special in the fact that she had received the power to become a child of God because of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ(. She traveled for her friend’s wedding in the company of some other friends and one of them was a believer who understood her privileges as a child of God. They were using GPS to locate the village where the wedding was to be held. As soon as they got to the village, it started raining very heavily, and they needed to be able to ask around to find their way to the exact venue in the village. Gloria, who was a believer aware of her privileges and rights as a child of God, prayed to God as if she knew God was listening to her. She then wound down the car window and spoke to the rain to cease. In less than two minutes, the very heavy rain ceased completely. It was nothing short of a miracle. It was too obvious that the reason that rain stopped was that Gloria prayed. Everyone in the car was surprised. When Felicia asked Gloria how she could do that, Gloria responded by saying “it is because I am a child of God and I walk in my sonship”. From that day, Felicia started seeking to understand her privileges as a child of God. One of the most important things about appropriating something that you have is knowing first of all that you have it and understanding its function. Many believers do not understand that becoming sons of God is the most powerful thing that can happen to them practically. They do not realize that the reason why the Lord Jesus could do many of the mighty things He did was because He was the Son of God. We have the privilege of also becoming sons of God after the likeness of Jesus Christ (our firstborn). Sons have inheritances. We have been called to inherit the kingdom of God. Go into today remembering that because you’re a child of God, God hears you when you pray. Thank the Lord for the Love He has given unto us that we should be called the sons of God. Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you understand and walk in the power of your sonship. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Follow the live stream of Streamglobe Word Encounter by 11:am(Nigerian Time) here: https://streamglobe.com/live Yearly Plan: II Kings 21-25 (In Devotional Audio) If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, Send us a message or Click here to join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/IpIyi4YBzxJAMphlwMaNBW Send WhatsApp messages to +2348034420524, +2348138224547 (send Testimonies and Inquiries here too) http://listen.streamglobe.org/Devotional%20Audio%202628.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | Download ()Subscribe: RSS
Becoming Sons of God 3
1 John 3 (NET) Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that whenever it is revealed we will be like him, because we will see him just as he is. It was easy for Dara to believe today’s Bible verse because of his personal experience. He observed that the more he beheld the Lord through His Word, the more he was transformed to be like Him in his inner man. There were certain vices and weights he just realized he no longer had an appetite for because of this. Many believers struggle with sins and are unstable because they do not behold the Lord (see Psalm 16:8). As you behold the Lord you become more holy because He is Holy; you become more powerful, more loving, more merciful, more kind, more patient, more humble, wiser, more dependable, and more truthful. These are all attributes of the Lord and you will become more of these things by continually beholding Him in your heart. One of the easiest ways we behold the Lord is through His Word and Prayer. As you behold Him, you become more like Him in your heart. This is how we appropriate our sonship. What is going to happen during the resurrection is that we will have the ability to behold the Lord as He is bodily, and as a result of this, fully become like Him. This will be a total spiritual and bodily transformation. Right now, we have the opportunity to behold Him with our Spirits and with our minds, and that is why we are to be transformed to become like Him in our hearts. But during the resurrection, we would behold Him fully and no longer in part (1 Corinthians 13:12), and thus fully become like Him [physically] too. Go into today knowing that you can be spiritually powerful with the sonship power of Christ because right now you can behold Him in your heart through His word, prayer, and Christian fellowship. Prayer: Lord, help me always behold you and become more like you. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Noy yet saved? Becoming Sons of God 2
2 Corinthians 6:17-18 (NET) Therefore “come out from their midst, and be separate,” says the Lord, “and touch no unclean thing, and I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” says the All-Powerful Lord. Aarav truly walked in spiritual authority over demons and it was evident to his family and members of his community. There was a time that a Hindu priest felt offended by the fact that Aarav parked his bike too close to his shrine. It was reported that the priest placed a curse upon Aarav and his bike, but when Aarav heard about this, he was not the least disturbed. He simply muttered some scriptures and moved on. That same week, instead of hurt coming to him, the Hindi priest had a ghastly bike accident and was bedridden for three months. A Great fear for Aarav came upon that priest and his followers after that incident. Aarav wasn’t always a person of spiritual authority. He was born into a Christian family, and most of his family members lived in the fear of demonic power. He broke free from that cycle of fear when he realized how to appropriate the power that he had received to become a son of God (John 1:12).The first step he took was to cleanse himself from all defilement of flesh. He ensured that coarse jestings, all forms of immorality, drunkenness, etc, were not found in his life anymore. He also cleansed himself from the defilement of spirit by no longer participating in any pagan feast or festival. He now refused to allow anyone to read his palm or predict the future for him using a widger board, etc. He ensured that he was no more involved in any kind of spiritual adultery by submitting himself to any form of idolatrous practice which would defile his spirit. Many of the Christians in Aarav’s community were weak and could not appropriate their power of sonship because they were not truly separated unto the Lord and had they cleansed themselves from defilements of flesh and spirit. Aarav was different because he understood better. Through faith in Christ Jesus and baptism in the Holy Spirit, we have received the power to become sons of God. But as today’s scripture reveals, this will only happen when we use this power to sanctify ourselves unto the Lord. Go into today remembering that the power we have received to become sons of God makes us holy. Holiness is the key that unlocks the dimension of sonship and authority. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Noy yet saved? Becoming Sons of God
2 Corinthians 6:17-18 (NET) Therefore “come out from their midst, and be separate,” says the Lord, “and touch no unclean thing, and I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” says the All-Powerful Lord. Daniel and Segun grew up in the same community and attended the same schools. But when Segun was in high school, he believed in the Lord Jesus and was baptized. He thus started living a separate life unto the Lord. Because of this, he enjoyed the communion of the Lord and could pray and have his prayers answered. Daniel on the other hand was just a churchgoer who was never really committed to the Lord. As events of life unfolded, it became evident that Segun was truly a son of God. When things went wrong in Daniel’s life and family, Segun would be the one he would run to because he discovered that when Segun prayed, God answered. Segun’s life was not void of battles and challenges, but as Daniel rightly observed, unlike him, Segun always came out victorious. Battles that crushed others only made him stronger and better. John 1:12 reveals that those who receive the Lord Jesus are given the power to become sons of God. The question is: how do we receive the Lord Jesus and believe in His name so that we would receive this power? The next question is: after we have received this power, how are we to use it to become sons of God? Before the Lord Jesus died and was resurrected into glory, people were already receiving Him and believing in His name(his authority as the Christ). His disciples were a good example. They received authority and power to cast out devils, subdue all the power of the enemy (see Luke 10:19), and relate with God as their Father. This was the reason why the disciples could cast out demons and heal the sick(see Matthew 10:8). This was the reason why Peter could walk on water and the disciples were already taught to pray to God and refer to Him as Father(Luke 11:2). After the Lord Jesus died and ascended to glory, just like before He died, those who believe in His name are those who believe that He is the Christ, the son of the living God (see Romans 10:10-11). Those who receive Him now receive Him through the indwelling Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit comes to minister the reality and power of Christ to the believer(see John 16:13). Christ dwells in us by the Holy Spirit. It is by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit that we can appropriate our inheritance as sons of God. Jesus says we shall receive power after the Holy Spirit comes upon us. This power enables us to be witnesses unto Him (see Acts 1:8). The way we use this power to actually appropriate our sonship is what is revealed in today’s Bible text. The HOLY Spirit empowers us to live separated HOLY lives. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that we can separate ourselves from the world and live sanctified lives unto the Lord. It is those who have done this that would practically walk in the reality of sonship. Go into today knowing that if you have believed in the Lord, and are baptized in the Holy Spirit, you have received the power to become a son of God. Ask the Lord to help you use this power to separate yourself from the world and live a sanctified life so your life would practically radiate the power of God. Confession: I am a Child of God. I walk in the authority of heaven and Please my Father in Heaven. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Noy yet saved?
