The Sin of Comparing and Complaining
Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV) It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Larry was so tired of everything he was going through that he was willing to just quit serving the Lord. His discouragement in life was primarily because he was comparing himself with certain people who seemed to be doing much better than him materially. He wasn’t really doing badly, but he could not appreciate what the Lord was doing for him because he was too busy comparing himself with certain people. As Larry grew spiritually, he realized that he had been walking in foolishness for a long time because he was comparing himself with other people(see 2 Corinthians 10:12), and had demonstrated unthankfulness to the Lord for so many years, yet the Lord was still faithful in keeping him. He saw how the dealings of the Lord were different in his own life and he now appreciated the wisdom of the Lord in determining his seasons. He also saw how the Lord was patiently working in him to produce perfection, and he now understood the futility of comparing himself with other people. Many times a believer begins to compare himself with other people and grumble in his heart, it sends such a negative signal against the Lord in the realm of the spirit that what he deserves, as a result, is destruction. Many of the people of Israel were consumed in the wilderness because of the basic sin of comparing and complaining(see 1 Corinthians 10:10), and scripture reveals that these things happened to them for our examples (see 1 Corinthians 10:6). The next time the flesh wants to push you to compare and complain, remember that you’re an eternal being and the way to measure your progress is by eternal standards and not merely earthly ones. What should get you bothered is if you’re not growing in the knowledge of the Lord and becoming more like Him daily. Remember also that complaining as a believer is a fruit of unbelief. They that live by faith know that God is in control. Instead of complaining, pray about every situation until the pressure in your heart is relieved. If after you’ve prayed the pressure comes back, pray some more(Phillipians 4:6). Go into today knowing that it is because of the mercy of the Lord that we have not been consumed in spite of our complaining. Many of God’s people were consumed in the wilderness because they were guilty of complaining about things that people would normally complain about, but they were to know better. If you find that you too are guilty of comparing and complaining, repent now. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: Proverbs 17-18 (In Devotional Audio) If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, Send us a message or Click here to join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/IpIyi4YBzxJAMphlwMaNBW Send WhatsApp messages to +2348034420524, +2348138224547 (send Testimonies and Inquiries here too) Join our Daily Zoom Bible Study. 2pm-3pm(WAT) Everyday except Sundays. Praying In Jesus’ Name
John 14:13-14 (NKJV)13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. A young lady’s prayer went thus: Lord, you know I am faithful in my tithes and offerings. You know I also give to the needy and I do not withhold what I have from the poor. Please provide for me this need and prove that you are a faithful God. Somewhere in that same city, another young lady prayed thus: Father, I ask that you provide this need for me. I ask not because I believe I deserve anything from you, but because I believe Christ has paid the price for me to receive from you. The second lady got her answer because she asked in the Name of the Lord. Even though the first lady ended her prayers by saying the words “in Jesus’ name”, she wasn’t really asking in the name of the Lord. The reason she believed God should answer her was because of her good works. Good works are indeed powerful in the realm of the spirit and have been the reason for the visitation of God upon many people. Cornelius attracted heaven’s attention and the angel of God visited him because of his good works (see Acts 10:1-4). Your good works are powerful but they are not as powerful as your faith in Christ Jesus. Your record of good works may help you garner much-needed confidence in dealing with God as a son, but when it comes to receiving from God, let your faith be in the works of Christ alone. That is how to pray in Jesus’ name. Go into today remembering to present the superior currency when making heavenly transactions. Faith in Christ is always superior. Ask the Lord to help you always pray in His name. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: Psalms 96-98 (In Devotional Audio) If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, Send us a message or Click here to join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/IpIyi4YBzxJAMphlwMaNBW Send WhatsApp messages to +2348034420524, +2348138224547 (send Testimonies and Inquiries here too) Join our Daily Zoom Bible Study. 2pm-3pm(WAT) Everyday except Sundays. The Led Are The Sons
Isaiah 28:9-10 (KJV) “Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little” “Danny, you can’t attend that party, you’re just a child. Besides, I don’t like such gatherings, it may be harmful to you” Mrs. Wood said. “Mum, I’m no longer a child, I’m an adult. I am eighteen remember? You, therefore, should give me some space” Danny replied. In the world, adulthood means more freedom or independence. The older a child gets, the freer he becomes, and his parent’s input in his decision-making gradually wanes. But it is not so in the kingdom of God, the direct opposite is the case. In the kingdom, the more mature you get, the more dependent on God you have become. Actually, your rank in God is a function of how dependent on Him you are. For Danny, his proof of maturity manifested in his ability to have an opinion contrary to his mother’s opinion and refuse his mother’s opinion. For sons of God, it is their inability to take a step when God has not given the instruction to do so that shows that they have been weaned. A mature child or son of God will do what God says he should do, will not do what He says he should not do and even more, he will not do what God has not asked him to do. This man cannot act unless he hears from God. And if he does not hear, he sticks to the last instruction and keeps waiting on God for a new one. For sons, it must be precept upon precept and line upon line, here a little and there a little, for it is them that are led by the spirit of God that are the sons of God (Romans 8:14). Go into today Knowing that the life you have been called into is a life of dependence and trust in the Lord. The more dependent on God you get, the more of Him you will know and experience. Three Hundred Men: Few or Many?
Judges 7:6-7 (Living Bible): Only three hundred of the men drank from their hands; all the others drank with their mouths to the stream. “I’ll conquer the Midianites with these three hundred!” the Lord told Gideon. “Send all the others home!” Ever seen or heard of the critically acclaimed movie “300”? It is a fictional retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae in the Persian Wars. The story tells about a King who led an army of 300 men, to defend the Hot Gates (Thermopylae) against the advance of the mighty Persian armies. The movie depicts the ‘heroic’ efforts and sacrifice of the 300 Spartans who simply defied the odds to stand against the Persians, and even though they were outnumbered, they simply refused to yield. Most people watch this historical fantasy, as the movie is classified, and get goosebumps. Well, the Bible tells us the story of 300 men carefully chosen by God to deliver His people from their enemies. Judges chapters 6 and 7 records this amazing story. God had raised an unlikely hero in the person of Gideon, unlike Leonidas (of the 300 Spartans story) who was a warrior king trained from childhood in the art of war and combat, Gideon was that man who was conducting his family business in hiding because he was afraid of their oppressors. He wasn’t some guy with 6 packs and bulging biceps overflowing with courage and confidence. He was just your average joe from most indications. Do note that God is in the business of raising ordinary men to do extraordinary things for Him. However, after an encounter with God, through his angel, Gideon became another man. And the first thing he did thereafter was to pull down the temple of Baal in his father’s house. Because you see, when God becomes Lord in your life, one of the very first manifestations will be the pulling down of idolatry and all its vestiges. Thereafter, Gideon raised an army of 32,000. Sufficient, right? Not nearly so, not when you are faced with an enemy too numerous to count (See Judges 7:12) and guess what God asked him to do, request for reinforcement? No. He said, “There are too many of you! I can’t let all of you fight the Midianites, for then the people of Israel will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength! Send home any of your men who are timid and frightened.” (Judges 7:2-3 Living Bible) Gideon did and they were left with 10,000 men and yet the Lord insisted that there were still too many. He cut their number to 300 men and with them he defeated the “too-many-to-number” soldiers of the Midianites and Amalekites, demonstrating that having God on your side is more important and beneficial than having statistics in your favor. Remember, those three hundred were the ones who were not unafraid and timid. Are you confident in the fact that you know the Lord? Go into today reassured that if God be for you, no man can prevail in being against you. Desert every false way and stand firm in the faithful hands of the Lord. Because GOD is for me, no one can prevail in being against me —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Numbers 1-4 (in today’s audio) If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, Send us a message or Click here to join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/IpIyi4YBzxJAMphlwMaNBW Send WhatsApp messages to +2348034420524, +2348138224547 (send Testimonies and Inquiries here too) Join our Daily Zoom Bible Study. 2pm-3pm(WAT) Everyday except Sundays. Fruitfulness, The Mandate Of Sons
Genesis 1:11-12 (KJV) “And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good”. My Chukwudi’s wife had just delivered a bouncing baby girl, the midwives thought it a thing of joy to break the news to him, but to their surprise, he became sad immediately he heard of the baby’s sex. “Oh God, I have four daughters already, why didn’t you give me at least a son, just one, just one to preserve the family name” he responded. My Chukwudi’s concern was with the propagation of his family name, he had spoken like a typical untransformed cultural African man. His desire was not bad, but his view was myopic. God seeks men and women who will propagate his life on earth, He seeks men who will make his name glorious and hallowed. Every living thing created by God has installed in it the ability to reproduce after its kind, this ability is contained in their seed. Since God had created man in his own likeness and image, we are His kind, hence, it is expected that we produce His kind; “God-kind”. This is why he commanded us to “be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion…” (Genesis 1:28). This ability was corrupted when Satan sold sin to man, the result of which was man having the sinful nature (Genesis 6:3, 12), but when a man comes to God through Christ Jesus, this corruption is taken away and the ability to manifest the divine nature restored(2 Peter 1:4). Go into today Knowing that once you accept the lordship of Jesus Christ, you have been mandated to manifest the divine nature. You thus can no longer live for yourself. Prayer: Father, help me to produce the God kind of life wherever I’m placed in Jesus’ name. God Confirms His Word
Hebrews 2:3-4 (NKJV) how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will? Shade had a hard time discerning false prophets from true ones. She observed that some of the false prophets had become very smart by embracing ‘holiness’ doctrines. But she had a personal encounter with one of such holiness preachers and realized he was as greedy and filthy as the rest. She also realized that most of the false prophets were not interested in winning souls for the Lord, they were only interested in the money. We can see from today’s Bible verses that salvation was first preached by the Lord Jesus Himself, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him (His disciples who echoed His gospel). In Matthew 9:35 and Luke 8:1, we see that the Lord Jesus went to different towns and villages teaching and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom. We also see that His disciples did the same. Many wonder what gospel message Jesus and the Apostles preached since Jesus was not yet crucified? Well, Jesus preached the message of salvation. What makes a person receive eternal salvation is believing that Jesus is Lord(the Christ of God, the messiah). Even before Jesus died on the cross, people were being saved through believing in Him. We see in Luke 19:9 that Jesus said salvation had come to the house of Zacchaeus [because he believed in Him]. Before and after His death and resurrection, believing that Jesus is Lord was the key to salvation. The resurrection was God’s token proof that Jesus is Lord. The Jews crucified Him because He said He was the Christ (the Son of God, the King of the Jews). But God raised Him up on the third day as proof that He is indeed the Christ (Lord, Anointed One, the Messiah). The gospel we preach today now includes this vital truth— that God raised Jesus from the dead (see Romans 10:9). In John 4, we are given a rare peek into the content of the gospel message that Jesus preached while He walked the streets of Israel. We see Jesus preaching to the Samaritan woman, and their conversation headed up to Him revealing to her that He is the Messiah(see John 4:25-26). The woman believed in Him and even invited others to come and see the Christ (see John 4:29). Whether then, or when the Apostles preached, or today, the gospel message has been about bringing people to receive the Lordship of Christ Jesus. People who receive the gospel live under the Lordship of Christ. That’s why they repent of their old ways that do not align with life under Christ’s government. Go into today remembering that God confirms His gospel with signs and wonders, miracles and gifts of The Spirit. The next time you want to discern whether a prophet is false or not, look at the fruits of his ministry (Matthew 7:16). Is he raising people whose allegiance is to Christ (this shows by their lives of submission to the Lordship of Christ) or is he raising people whose true allegiance is to him and to mammon? Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me be a true minister of your salvation. Stretch out your hand to confirm your word in life with signs and wonders, miracles and gifts of the Spirit, In Jesus’ name. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: John 3-4 (in today’s audio) Get Sermons Here: streamglobe.org/34 If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, Send us a message or Click here to join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/IpIyi4YBzxJAMphlwMaNBW Send WhatsApp messages to +2348034420524, +2348138224547 (send Testimonies and Inquiries here too) Join our Daily Zoom Bible Study. 2pm-3pm(WAT) Everyday except Sundays. Do Not Trespass!
Ecclesiastes 12:1 (AMP) Remember [earnestly] also your Creator [that you are not your own, but His property now] in the days of your youth, before the evil days come or the years draw near when you will say [of physical pleasures], I have no enjoyment in them— Have you ever seen one of those signs they put up on certain properties? “Do Not Trespass”? A trespass usually occurs when a person encroaches into the property of another person, or a violation of one’s right, especially as it concerns one’s property. Close to the concept of trespassing is transgression. When a law has been violated, or an act has gone past the set limits. One question every believer must have a firm and accurate grasp of the answer is “Whose, exactly am I?”. Who owns you? Is your life yours to direct and determine its course as you please? On the road to Rome amid a storm, Apostle Paul said something that is quite profound. He said, “For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,” You see, the understanding of whose you are will greatly influence who and how you serve. Do you know that you have been bought with a price and that you are no longer your own? (See 1 Corinthians 6:20). Has the truth sunk into your subconscious and risen into your active consciousness? Or is it just one of those ‘meaningless’ religious mantras to you? Truth is, when a man (Christian) devotes all his life to serving the will of God, he is not doing anything so spectacular deserving of some special accolades, he is just using his life the way he ought to, and according to its maker’s design. When the lyrics of your life song rhymes with the words and spirit of the hymn, “Take My Life and Let It Be”, you are not doing God a favor; you are just doing the right thing. Your life belongs to the Lord, your body is his temple, the Holy Spirit dwells within you, not as a tenant, but as the landlord. Next time, before you draw up all those wonderful plans for your life and decide to ‘compensate’ God with some time and service in return for his goodness to you, think again! You don’t compensate a person with his property; you are trespassing, you are transgressing. Have this attitude instead, the attitude of seeking Him, seeking to know Him and to know His will for your life. Once you discover His will and plans for you, set your face like a flint and follow His plans with doggedness and perseverance, regardless of what the world says or thinks. Always remember, the saying “you belong to God” is not a figure of speech but a clear statement of fact. Go into today knowing that God owns your life and therefore seek to (always) know and do His will for you. —Ikechukwu Mpama Bible In One Year: Daniel 1-6 (In Devotional Audio) If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, Send us a message or Click here to join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/IpIyi4YBzxJAMphlwMaNBW Send WhatsApp messages to +2348034420524, +2348138224547 (send Testimonies and Inquiries here too) Join our Daily Zoom Bible Study. 2pm-3pm(WAT) Everyday except Sundays. Sonship, Obedience, and Honor
Malachi 1:6a (NIV) A son honors his father, and a slave his master. Jeremiah chapter 35 makes for an interesting read. You see, God had instructed Jeremiah to invite a group of people over and to offer them wine. Jeremiah did just as the Lord instructed. When these guests arrived, Jeremiah offered them wine just as the Lord had instructed him to. However, they declined the offer, stating that they had instructions from their father (forebear), which included them drinking no wine, and so they said, “So we have obeyed him in all these things. We have never had a drink of wine to this day, nor have our wives, our sons, or our daughters.” (Jeremiah 35:8 NLT). Sonship is not just about tracing one’s origin to a father, it comes with certain expectations and responsibilities. In today’s text, we read a snippet of God’s berating of his people through his prophet. One responsibility of a son is to honor and obey his father. The idea of honor connotes a holding one in very high regard, esteem one greatly. This is evidenced through the words and actions of the one who honors. We obey the one we honor. We give our best to the one we honor. When we profess to honor God, we honor him by living in submission to his will and in subjection to his word. We honor him with our giving and with our living. Jesus Christ is God’s pattern Son. That means, he is the example of who a son is and how God’s child ought to walk. In his life, you see a total submission to the will of his Father. In Gethsemane, this was in full display. Faced with the enormity of the task ahead of him Jesus went to pray saying, “O MY Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou will” (Matt26:39). If we must walk as sons, we must walk as Jesus did, in total submission to the will of God. Go into today seeking to know the Father’s will, and to do it. —Ikechukwu Mpama Bible In One Year: Proverbs 16 (In Devotional Audio) If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, Send us a message or Click here to join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/IpIyi4YBzxJAMphlwMaNBW Send WhatsApp messages to +2348034420524, +2348138224547 (send Testimonies and Inquiries here too) Join our Daily Zoom Bible Study. 2pm-3pm(WAT) Everyday except Sundays. How Bad Is Unforgiveness?
Matthew 18:33-35 (NET) “Should you not have shown mercy to your fellow slave, just as I showed it to you? And in anger his lord turned him over to the prison guards to torture him until he repaid all he owed. So also my heavenly Father will do to you, if each of you does not forgive your brother from your heart.” One of the things that happened frequently when David and his friends went out on evangelism was the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They had so many testimonies that they believed God gave them the special gift of getting people baptized in the Holy Spirit. But on one occasion they met two women, the first was an unbeliever who received salvation that day and was immediately baptized in the Holy Ghost; she spoke in tongues and prophesied that day. But the second woman was a believer who desired to be baptized in the Holy Ghost but who didn’t receive the baptism after hours of prayers and laying on of hands on her. It was just before they had given up on her that a member of the team received a word of knowledge, “who have you refused to forgive?” He asked. “My husband is a wicked man, he abandoned me and the children, he does not care, I can’t forgive him” she responded. “Oh! As long as you refuse to forgive him, the Holy Spirit won’t come!” David said gently. After speaking to her about the dangers of unforgiveness, she finally agreed to forgive her husband. Immediately after this, she became filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak in tongues. The man in today’s text who refused to forgive his fellow servant lost the pardon he earlier received, ended up in the prison, and secured torture for himself, while the woman in our story couldn’t receive Holy Spirit baptism because of unforgiveness. What has Unforgiveness cost you? Have you been imprisoned or limited because you refused to forgive? Are you currently being tortured because you won’t forgive those who offended you? Go into today knowing that unforgiveness is one of the easiest ways to lose out of God’s blessings. Prayer: search your heart for any trace of unforgiveness, forgive the person or persons, then ask God to forgive and restore you. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible In One Year: Psalms 93-95 (In Devotional Audio) If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, Send us a message or Click here to join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/IpIyi4YBzxJAMphlwMaNBW Send WhatsApp messages to +2348034420524, +2348138224547 (send Testimonies and Inquiries here too) Join our Daily Zoom Bible Study. 2pm-3pm(WAT) Everyday except Sundays. …And Sons Enterprise
Luke 2:49 (AMP) And He said to them, How is it that you had to look for Me? Did you not see and know that it is necessary [as a duty] for Me [a]to be in My Father’s house and [occupied] about My Father’s business? There is an interesting business naming practice characterized by the South Easterners in Nigeria. Businesses were usually named with the name of the founding businessman with the addition of the phrase, “And Sons Enterprise”. So there were businesses with names such as ‘Emeka and Sons Enterprise”, Chuks and Sons Enterprise”, “Buchi and Sons Enterprises ” etcetera. And true to the name, the founding-father usually trains their sons in the family business so they could continue the business long after the father is gone. Luke chapter 2 narrates the story of the birth of Jesus right down to when he went with his parents for the Passover feast in Jerusalem and he stayed behind. His parents went searching for him and found him in the temple dialoguing with the teachers of the law in the temple. When Mary asked him “Child, why have You treated us like this? Here Your father and I have been anxiously looking for You”, his response was do you not know that I must be about my Father’s business? And that was exactly what he did till he left this world. Remember his response to his disciples when they came back with food for him while he was by the well in Samaria? He said, ““My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” The idea of sonship comes with a sense of responsibility. God has an ‘enterprise’. There is a Father’s business that we must be engaged in as sons. God has work and assignments that he desires to accomplish through us. A son, a responsible one, must be diligent to discover what it is the Lord would have him do. He must actively seek to know, ‘what would you have me do? What part will you have me play in your agenda?’ When he discovers it, he must spend his life, time, and resources doing it. It is irresponsibility to think that you can go about your business and only dedicate church services to God. The Father’s business is not only done from the pulpit, in fact, it is largely done outside of it. Have you discovered the part apportioned to you in the Father’s business? Are you about it? Go into today determined to engage in the Father’s business and to make it your lifelong vocation. —Ikechukwu Mpama Bible In One Year: I Chronicles 1-4 (In Devotional Audio) If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, Send us a message or Click here to join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/IpIyi4YBzxJAMphlwMaNBW Send WhatsApp messages to +2348034420524, +2348138224547 (send Testimonies and Inquiries here too) Join our Daily Zoom Bible Study. 2pm-3pm(WAT) Everyday except Sundays.
