Be Strengthened in the Lord
Ephesians 6:10 (NET) Finally, be strengthened in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Blake was now really weak because of the many battles he had faced and lost (at least that was his thinking). He didn’t feel strong enough because he had been beaten down so many times in life. He continued in this state of spiritual weakness until he heard a sermon about the joy of the Lord. That was the day he realized that spiritual strength and joy in the Holy Ghost cannot be separated. He determined from that day that he would never allow the devil to steal his joy and strength again. Because of this decision, he gradually but surely came out of his depression and started doing exploits for the Lord again. One of the easiest ways the devil deceives people into weakness is by tempting them to sin so that as a result, they would lose the joy of their salvation. There’s this resident joy in the heart of everyone who has received God’s kingdom, and this joy is a fruit of the Spirit. But when believers violate their consciences, it sets their spirits into a mood of mourning and this can rob them of this joy of salvation. That’s why after David’s iniquity, he cried to the Lord to restore to him the joy of His salvation(see Psalm 51:12). The devil can also attempt to rob us of this joy by orchestrating circumstances around us that are unfavorable. But we must not forget that one way to be strong in the Lord is to rejoice in the Lord always(see Philippians 4:4) because the joy of the Lord is our strength (see Nehemiah 8:10). Go into today remembering that being strong in the Lord is to rejoice in the Lord and let your hope and confidence come from the Lord. Trust in the Lord’s faithfulness at all times. He is more faithful than your mind has the ability to understand. Want to be saved? Learning from Cain and Esau

Hebrews 10:26-27 (KJV) For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. Cain and Abel were siblings. A time came that they offered a sacrifice to God. Cain’s sacrifice was rejected while Abel’s was accepted (Gen 4:4-5). Cain was displeased and was angry because God had no respect for him and his sacrifice. When God saw this He spoke to Cain and warned him saying ‘‘If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.” (Gen 4:7 ESV). But Cain chose to reject God’s warning, refused to rule over sin, and eventually murdered his brother Abel. God again came to him and asked, ‘‘where is Abel your brother?’’, but even at this, Cain showed no remorse but responded arrogantly, ‘‘I don’t know, am I my brother’s keeper?’’. Because he chose to reject God willfully, God cursed him and sent him out of His presence (Gen 4:11-12), even after this he would not ask God for forgiveness, he left the presence of God instead and started a civilization that was against God (Gen 4:16). Esau and Jacob were also children of the same parents, Esau sold his birthright to Jacob and Jacob eventually stole Esau’s blessing (Gen 27:36). Esau became angry and sought to kill Jacob his brother, but when he heard his father’s word concerning his future (Gen 27:40) he changed his mind concerning his plan and in the cause of time, he also became great (Gen 33:4-9). Anyone who refuses God’s forgiveness by willfully continuing in sin has chosen the path of destruction. Hebrews 2:3 (KJV) ‘‘How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him” Go into today knowing that to willfully continue in sin is to willfully depart from the presence and covering of God. Changed Outlook
Romans 8:6-9 (NET) For the outlook of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace, because the outlook of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor is it able to do so. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him. When Ugochukwu became born again, he realized that he was no longer comfortable with the things he used to do as an unbeliever. No one told him when he deleted most of the unwholesome videos on his phone. He just knew keeping them was wrong and dangerous to his new life in Christ. He also knew that the songs he had were no longer appropriate for him, so he deleted all the songs on his phone and laptop. He had a girlfriend and they were deeply in love, but he knew that the foundation that relationship and everything about it was sinful, so he called off the relationship. Ugochukwu did all this because the Spirit of God was now within him and he yielded to the leading of the Spirit. He was told by the person who led him to Christ that yielding to the Holy Spirit is the only way to live this new born-again life. One of the major things the Spirit of God will do within a believer is to change his outlook to life from that of the flesh to that of the Spirit. Every human being was born with the outlook of the flesh and lives to please himself. But when you become born again, by the word of God and the Spirit of God, that outlook is changed to one that seeks to please God. Prayer: Lord, help me live to please you and be fruitful in every good work. Amen. —Abraham Damilola ArigiYBR: Psalms 60-62 Get sermons here: www.streamglobe.org/34 Join Our Interactive Online Bible Study Today by 2pm (GMT +1). Our Gospel is Heaven Centric

Colossians 1:5 (NET) Your faith and love have arisen from the hope laid up for you in heaven, which you have heard about in the message of truth, the gospel When Karen first heard the gospel, she was a teenager in high school and was not interested in it because it appeared to her that if she accepted the gospel, she was not going to live and enjoy the kind of life she had always desired to live. The believers in her school were so centered on heaven and the kingdom of God that it seemed to her that they did not want to enjoy life here on earth. After thirty years, Karen had lived life, but she was empty, sad, depressed, and unfulfilled. She had made a lot of money, traveled the world, and lived the kind of life she believed would give her satisfaction, but she found that the more she searched for satisfaction, the more she discovered that she had not found it. She observed that those her high school friends who believed in Jesus and remained were the ones that seemed truly fulfilled and happy in life. Some of them did not have much, but there was this joy and peace they had that words cannot describe. Karen was willing to give anything to enjoy such peace. After deciding to try Jesus out, she started attending church services and was now desiring for a personal relationship with the Lord. The first few churches she visited did not seem to have the answer. All they talked about was “success”, “breakthrough”, and such things, but that was not what she was looking for. She wanted that sincere gospel she heard as a little girl. She knew in her heart that that simple sincere gospel had the answer to the hunger of her soul. After visiting a small church for one of her high school friend’s retirement thanksgiving, in that little church, she encountered the gospel. This gospel was one that was heaven centric. She saw that their desire in that church was to please the Lord and fulfill His purpose for them on the earth. Even though the members of that church were not wretched, and some of them were really well to do, she could see that in that church, money was not their god. Do you notice from today’s Bible verse that the hope of our faith [and love] is laid up in heaven and not on the earth? This earth [and this realm] is too limited to accommodate and express the riches and glory of our inheritance as saints. When believers are earthly-minded and worldly, it limits their capacity to experience and radiate the joy and peace of God that surpasses all understanding. Go into today remembering that even though we are to live fruitful lives on the earth, we are to be heavenly minded by setting our affection on things above and not on things of this life (see Colossians 3:2). Prayer: Lord, deliver me from the temptation to squander my faith and hope on the mundane things of this life. Help me to keep my heart stayed on you so that I would enjoy your perfect peace (Isiah 26:3). Want to be saved?
