2 Corinthians 6:15 (NKJV) And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?

Jake really loved to serve the Lord with his life. But he found it unusually difficult and almost impossible to live a life worthy of his calling in God. He tried to convince himself that God didn’t care about the things he did, but he found that he couldn’t have fellowship with God because of his unholy lifestyle.

One day, he decided he’d had enough with the unending struggles with the flesh. He spent two hours narrating his spiritual ordeal to his pastor. His pastor asked him one question and found out where the problem was. The question was: ‘who are your friends?’

The pastor realized that Jake kept constant fellowship with his old unbeliever friends. He even still maintained their old outing schedule.

When a believer constantly mingles with unbelievers, he is exposing his [precious] faith to negative forces that seek to quench it (because unbelief is not benign, it is a toxic force against faith). Because his faith has been weakened through negative communication, he will realize he is unable to overcome the smallest temptations.

As you go into today, ask the Lord to help you fight the good fight of faith and guard your precious faith jealously.
