Luke 14:16, 18
Then said He unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. (Read also Matt 22:1-14 and Rev 19:5-9)

God is having a great supper. The Bible calls it the marriage supper of the Lamb (Rev 19:9). It is akin to a wedding feast. The Lord tying the knots with his bride before the hosts of heaven, it’s official. Then will the spirit, soul, and body be in perfect union with the Lord, no more body of sin, but a glorious body of power (1 Cor 15:43). The invitations are out, inked in the blood of the Son, Jesus. But those who make light of the king’s invitation will suffer the wrath of the king (Matt 22:5, 7). We come robed in the garment of Christ’s righteousness, anything else and you find yourself in the outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matt 22:13).
The invitation is gone into the whole world (Titus 2:11 AMP) and there is a list of all who have received this call; it’s called the Lamb’s Book of Life (Rev 21:27), and those whose names are written therein are welcomed to the marriage supper of the Lamb. Jesus is the groom (2 Cor 11:2; Eph 5:25, 26), the Lamb, He has paid the (bride)price, he paid more than was required—for God became flesh and laid down his life for us so we can be free and freed from the hands of our slave-master; sin. He has bought you with a price but yet woos you as a man woos a bride. Time and again he calls you with the sweet words of the Goodnews saying, you need not continue in slavery to sin, come to me and live. You need not suffer eternal condemnation, come to me and have eternal life.

Don’t take a chance. Some made light of his call and went their ways, one to his farm the other to his merchandise, and then suffered the wroth of the king. For when we excuse ourselves of his call, we excuse ourselves from his provision of grace. Don’t take a chance. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and live.
