Ephesians 5:18-19 (KJV) And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord
Femi keenly observed that whenever he was in the Spirit, there was usually a song in his heart. He also observed that whenever he wanted to stay filled, the easiest way was to continue to sing it.
There was a particular morning he woke up with a song, and he decided to sing that song all day. He later discovered that the song was a weapon for warfare. His spirit drew strength and was filled with the Holy Spirit as he continued to sing that song. The strange situations and temptations he faced at work that day did not break him. He overcame by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Notice in today’s Bible verse that in being filled with the Spirit, we are to speak to ourselves in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. We are to sing and make melody in our hearts to the Lord.
When a song comes to your Spirit, do not ignore it; sing it and let the Spirit flow. As you let this happen and you are filled with the Spirit, there is nothing you will not be able to overcome because through the Holy Spirit, we overcome the world (see 1 John 4:4). The reason why you can overcome the [dark forces of this] world is because the Holy Spirit that dwells in you is greater than them. This means you have to let Him fill and control you.
Go into today remembering that the praises of the Lord in your mouth sets you up for victory in warfare. Psalm 149:6: Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand.
