2 Peter 1:3 (NET) I can pray this because his divine power has bestowed on us everything necessary for life and godliness through the rich knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and excellence.
Gbenga was 13 years old when he accepted the Lord Jesus, but after years of accepting the Lord Jesus, Gbenga was still suffering from different demonic oppressions. By the time he was 23, he shared his experience with a friend who was a leader in their campus fellowship. This friend simply laughed and asked him if he had been baptized in the Holy Ghost. “You are being afflicted because even though you have believed, you have not yet been filled with the Holy Spirit” his friend said. That was the day Gbenga got baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. From that day, he felt a hundred times stronger in his spirit and closer to the Lord. He now had the ability to exercise authority over demons.
The first sign the Lord says will follow those who believe in Him is that they would cast out demons in His name. But this promise is actually for those who believe and are baptized (see Mark 16:16-18).
From today’s Bible verse, we see that the way we can access the rich provisions of God is through the rich knowledge of God. The more you know the Lord, the more His power can be made manifest in your life. Just like with every other relationship, when you give quality time to spending with the Lord each day, you will get to know Him more and see more of His glorious power. Being filled with the Spirit affords us the privilege of the sweet fellowship with God through the indwelling Holy Spirit. Praying in the Spirit is a great spiritual asset every new testament saint has.
If we truly desire to know the Lord more, let’s be determined to give more quality time to spend with Him each day.
Go into today with a strong desire to know the Lord even more(see Phillipians 3:10). It is the people that know their God that shall be strong and do exploits (see Daniel 11:32).
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me overcome distractions that prevent me from knowing you as much as I should, In Jesus’ name. Amen.
