Philippians 2:5-8 (NET)
He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross! While studying the subject of humility and seeing that it is the strongest attribute of the nature of Christ pointed out in scripture(see Matthew 11:29, Philippians 2:5-8), I was wondering and asking the Lord why so much emphasis on the subject of humility. I didn’t ask long before I remembered that pride was the one thing that turned the angel Lucifer into Satan. Pride entered his heart and iniquity was found in him (Ezekiel 28:14, 15, 17).
One of the biggest roots of iniquity is pride. The opposite of pride is humility.
As powerful as God is, He is humble. We are to be like God not like the devil (see 1 Peter 1:16).
Pride is a root of iniquity. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (1 Peter 5:5-6). Anyone who walks in pride will walk under the resistance of heaven. That’s a bad place to be.
Do you want to live under the dew of heaven? Do you want your prayers answered before you even utter them? Then be truly humble. I Believe one reason Moses had so much power with God was that he was the most humble man on earth during his day (see Numbers 12:3).
Go into today determining to be like Jesus in your heart. The strongest attribute of the nature of Christ is humility.
Prayer: Resist all forms of pride and ask the Lord for grace to be more humble and gentle (see Ephesians 4:2).
