THE NATURE OF FAITH 4
Hebrews 10:38 (KJV) Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. Denying Jesus even in the face of death was something that the apostles and early Christians would not do because they understood the meaning of faith. As Jews, the apostles understood that faith in Jesus meant faithfulness to him no matter what. Faith was not a once and for all thing, it was an enduring reality that controlled every area of their lives. In the Hebrew language, the word translated to mean faith can also be translated to mean faithfulness. In that language, faithfulness and faith is the same word. This has a lot to say about the nature of the Christian faith. When Apostle Paul talks about justification by faith, we must realize that there is always an undertone of faithfulness because as a Jew, Paul could not understand how one would have faith and not be loyal, obedient and faithful to the one he has faith in. Anyone who truly has faith in God will be faithful to God. He will have no other gods beside Him. He will obey Him and ever seek to more perfectly walk in His will. When people try to divorce faith in God from commitment and faithfulness to God, they are not talking about the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, they are talking about another kind of faith, and that faith cannot save anyone. Go into today remembering that faith in the Lord will make you faithful to Him and not ashamed of Him in this crooked world. -SD Abraham FREE AUDIO SERMONS HERE☞ http://bit.ly/SERmons Yearly Bible Reading: Exodus 9-12 Streamglobe in interdenominational. THE MESSAGE 2
Habakkuk 2:3-4 (NET) For the message is a witness to what is decreed; it gives reliable testimony about how matters will turn out. Even if the message is not fulfilled right away, wait patiently; for it will certainly come to pass – it will not arrive late. Look, the one whose desires are not upright will faint from exhaustion, but the person of integrity will live because of his faithfulness. Amara was in charge of the accounts department in her office. Even though at that time she really needed money, she refused to cooperate with her boss to manipulate some figures and make extra cash. She simply told him that cooperating with him would be acting against her faith. Doing things that fight your faith is the definition of sinning (see Rom 14:23). Sin is antithetical to faith, that’s why continuing in any sin and defiling conscience would ultimately lead to a shipwreck of faith (see 1 Tim 1:19). Amara did not compromise because she had the hope of our calling as the anchor for her soul. Our faith is based on hope. This hope is the hope of the eternal kingdom of God and glory that He has promised us when the Lord appears. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as the substance of things hoped for. There must be hope for there to be faith. Even though it may appear as if the coming of the Lord (which will bring our hope to fruition) tarries, we wait patiently, for it will certainly come to pass. Go into today longing for the Lord’s appearing. This longing produces a life of faith and faithfulness in doing the Lord’s assignment. Those who live like this will be sure to wear a crown on that day (see 2 Tim 4:8). They will not suffer loss (see 1 Cor 3:15). -SD Abraham Yearly Bible Reading: I Corinthians 15-16 Streamglobe in interdenominational. Even if the message is not fulfilled right away, wait patiently; for it will certainly come to pass – it will not arrive late. Look, the one whose desires are not upright will faint from exhaustion, but the person of integrity will live because of his faithfulness. When Amara believed in the LORD Jesus, she was made to understand that because she believed, she was going to have eternal life, experience the resurrection of the dead and have the same kind of glorious body that Jesus has right now (Phil 3:21). She was made to understand that our glorious bodies will reveal our real nature as Sons of God (see Rom 8:23 in AMP). These bodies cannot grow old or fall sick; they will walk in the divine nature as naturally as we walk in the physical nature now. Amara was also made to understand that because of the resurrection, she would sit with Christ in glory and judge the world, and even angels (1 Cor 6:2-3). She understood that she was going to inherit everything that belongs to God because she is a joint heir with Christ. Because of these things she understood, trials and temptations could not make her compromise her faith. She knew what was at stake. The gospel message is not only good news about salvation from sin and condemnation; it is also good news about our glorious eternal destiny in God through Christ Jesus. In 1 Corinthians 15, we see Apostle Paul explain the gospel message he preached, and a great part of that chapter was about the resurrection of the dead-our glorious eternal destiny. Go into today remembering that the gospel brings hope to those who receive it and causes them to live by faith [and faithfulness] because of this hope. Read Col 1:23. Not yet saved? PRAYER AND POWER
James 5:16b (NLT) …The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. Dare observed that the Holy Spirit moved him to pray and each time he prayed he was empowered in the inner man. His spirit was energized and the power of his flesh to control him was diminished. But he also observed that if he continually neglected the nudging to pray, his flesh would become powerful again and his spirit relatively weak. He decided that he was now going to be committed to prayer like never before. He observed that the more committed he was to prayer and the ministry of the word, he became spiritually stable and strong. We are instructed time and time again by the Lord and through His apostles to be prayerful (see Luke 18:1, Col 4:2, 1 Thes 5:17, Rom 12:22, Eph 6:18). This is because it is through prayer that we access the power of God we need for life and godliness. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person makes much power available (James 5:16). ‘Prayerless’ Christians are powerless Christians. Jesus told His disciples to pray so that they would not fall into temptation (Mark 14:38). The power to overcome temptation is made available when we pray. Go into today remembering that the way to stand is by ‘praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit’ (Ephesians 6:18). Ask the Lord to help you to this end. -SD Abraham Yearly Bible Reading: Job 29-30 Streamglobe in interdenominational. THE LORDSHIP OF CHRIST 2
1 Corinthians 6:20 (NET) For you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body. When Dare realized what it really meant to be a believer in the Lord Jesus, his slavery to sin was broken. He had attended church all his life, but he knew he was still a slave to sin. When for the first time he learned that believing in the Lord Jesus meant accepting Christ Jesus as his Lord, he understood that this meant that his life now belonged to Christ and he could no longer live the way he liked but now had to submit to the will of Christ. When he realized and understood this, he could now receive power from the Holy Spirit. This power enabled him to overcome the dominion of sin in his life. He also observed that because of this power, he was no more afraid of the devil and his demons. He now had the authority to withstand the forces of darkness and overcome. Being a believer doesn’t just mean accepting that Jesus is Lord, it means receiving His Lordship over your life. When this happens, the Holy Spirit can now empower you to live above the power of the flesh. It is only by the Holy Spirit that we can put to death the works of the flesh (see Rom 8:13) and this can only happen when we have truly accepted the Lordship of Jesus over our lives. Go into today remembering that the degree to which you are submitted to the Lord is the degree to which you will have spiritual authority. It is only those who submit to the LORD that will be able to resist the devil and he will flee from them (see James 4:7). -SD Abraham Get AUDIO SERMONS here☞ http://bit.ly/SERmons Yearly Bible Reading: Job 29-30 Streamglobe in interdenominational. THE LORDSHIP OF CHRIST
Matthew 7:21 (KJV) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Today, there are over two billion people that call Jesus Lord. But what does it really mean for Jesus to be the Lord of a person? If Jesus is your Lord it means He is the one who has authority over you and He is the owner of you. It means He now controls your life through His word and His Spirit. Anyone who calls Jesus his Lord and means it must do His will, which is the same as the will of His father in heaven. Anyone who calls Jesus his Lord, but does not do His will is merely deceiving himself and will be in for a rude shock on judgment day. The Holy Spirit is the one who administers the authority of Christ within us. He reminds us of God’s word and empowers us to obey it. Those who truly belong to Christ are those who are led by the Spirit of God ‘for all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God’. Go into today thanking God for the privilege to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord to help you always obey His word and His leading. -SD Abraham Get AUDIO SERMONS here☞ http://bit.ly/SERmons Yearly Bible Reading: Psalms 42-44 Streamglobe in interdenominational. QUICKENED TO PRAY
Psalm 80:18 (KJV) So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name. After realizing that his flesh would always fight against his prayer life, Uchenna decided that regardless of the way he felt each night when it was time to pray, he was going to pray for at least one hour each day. He noticed that if he tried to pray in his room, his bed was a real distraction, and he would be tempted to lie down, and eventually sleep off. So he decided he would leave the comfort of his room and go to a place where it would be difficult for him to sleep. The first day Uchenna left his room to pray at night, he started by asking the Lord to quicken him to pray. He did this because he had come to discover that the Lord is the one who quickens us to call upon His name. That day, he prayed for one and a half hours because he really enjoyed the presence of the Lord and the quickening of the Holy Spirit. One of the reasons some people find it difficult to pray is because they do not enjoy the presence of God in their prayer life. Prayer is meant to be the high point of our daily communion with the Lord. There is a sweetness of the communion of the Holy Spirit that is intensified when we truly pray in the spirit, it is called the sweet communion of the Holy Spirit (see 2 Cor 13:14). If for any reason, this communion affected, prayer becomes a dry and unpleasant chore. It is because of the quickening of the Holy Spirit that we would be able to pray without ceasing. Go into today asking the Lord to quicken you to pray. -SD Abraham Yearly Bible Reading: I Samuel 21-25 Streamglobe in interdenominational. Uchenna decided that he was going to start praying from 11pm to 12pm every day. He would normally be awake around this time watching movies. But as soon as he decided to stop watching movies and devote this time to prayer, he observed that a very sweet sleep would come over him and he would find it difficult to pray for even 20 minutes. He did not know that this was warfare between the flesh and the spirit. Prayer is spiritual, and the flesh would fight it because ‘the flesh wars against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh’. If you are a believer in Christ, there are two things the devil would try at all costs to hinder you from doing daily because doing them would render him increasingly irrelevant in your life and world. The devil would try at all costs to hinder you from taking quality time daily to pray fervently and commune with the Lord. He would also try at all costs to hinder you from the ministry of the word; this could be hindrances and distractions from studying the Bible, hindrances from going to places where you would hear the living word of God, etc. But because the devil is not omnipotent, we have the power to resist him and do God’s will. The only people in this world that can resist the devil are those who are submitted to the Lordship of Christ Jesus (see James 4:7). Go into today remembering that as long as you are submitting to doing the will of Christ, you have the authority to resist the devil and do all that would build you up. PRAYING WITH THE SPIRIT 2
1 Corinthians 14:2 (NKJV) For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. One of the reasons why Femi stopped praying in tongues before he experienced spiritual dryness was because ever since he started praying in tongues, he had never heard himself speak in any human language, so he sometimes wondered if his tongues were really genuine. But after the experience he had, he decided that whether he spoke in a language or not, he was going to continue to pray in tongues. When you pray in tongues and people hear you speak in their own native language, this is a sign and wonder from God. The Miracle is performed in their hearing process. That is why in Acts 2:5, there were people from every nation under heaven, yet each person heard the disciples speaking in their own native languages (see Acts 2:6,8). Acts 2 didn’t say the disciples spoke in different languages, but it says each person heard them in his own language. From today’s Bible verse, we can see that in reality, when a person prays in tongues, no one understands him, however, in the spirit he speaks… In the flesh, it may appear that he isn’t really speaking but uttering nonsense or simply groaning, but in the spirit, he speaks mysteries. When God causes people to begin to understand what you are saying in tongues, it is a sign and a wonder and not usually the general rule. Even when a person is not praying to God, but giving the people a message from the Lord in tongues, he speaks mysteries and no one understands him, that is why in that case, there is the need for an interpreter. -SD Abraham Not yet saved? PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT
1 Corinthians 14:14-15 (KJV) For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. Femi told his friend about how his spiritual life had grown since he got baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. His friend was excited about his spiritual growth, but was skeptical about the ‘praying in tongues’ part. His friend said if he prayed in tongues, he needed an interpreter. Femi tried to explain to his friend that since he was praying to God and not giving people a message from God, he didn’t need an interpreter. But his friend partially convinced him that he wasn’t praying correctly by praying in tongues the way he did. Because of this conversation, Femi decided that he was going to try praying only in his understanding henceforth. The first day he tried praying this way, he ended up praying for only 15minutes instead of the one hour he normally spent. He felt so dry and empty in his spirit. After trying this method for three weeks, he faced a challenge that required him to walk in great faith, but he found that he was now afraid of things he didn’t fear before. This was an indicator to him that his spirit was lean and lacking power. It became clear to him that his decision to no more pray in tongues was a manipulation of darkness to keep him spiritually weak and ineffective. God delivered him from that delusion. Giving people a message in tongues is different from praying in tongues [to God]. The one needs an interpreter or it would be fruitless for the people, but the other does not need an interpreter because God understands what is being said. Go into today remembering that praying in tongues is praying in the spirit. This builds you up and fills you with spiritual might and power (1 Cor 14:4, Jude 1:20). -SD Abraham Not yet saved?
