THE FIRST WORKS AND THE FIRST LOVE

Get Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1806 Revelation 2:5 (NET) Therefore, remember from what high state you have fallen and repent! Do the deeds you did at the first; if not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place – that is, if you do not repent. Someone asked me what the secret behind staying consistent and growing in the grace of God was, because according him, many who were on fire for God on campus left campus and lost the fire. Losing the first fire and love is a real existential problem among believers everywhere. The truth is that if there was a time you were closer to God and more on fire for God than you are today, it is a sign that something has gone terribly wrong (see Prov 4:18). I don’t believe it was a coincidence that this was the first matter that came up in the letters the Lord sent to the seven churches in Revelation 2-3. We see a remedy for this malady in today’s Bible verse. Here the Lord tells the believers who have lost their first love to repent and do the deeds they did at first. The way to stay on fire is to never stop doing the deed you did at first. One reason people lose their first love and fire is because they stop doing the deeds they did at first when they were on fire for God. It’s a slow fade, and this usually comes when believers begin to have the mindset that they have already attained. This mindset is contrary to that of a true disciple (see Phil 3:13-14) . A young man who used to pray for hours when he was on campus now ‘does not have the time’ to pray for more than a couple of minutes because of work or even the demands of growing ministry. A lady who used to spend quality time reading faith building book now only reads novels because they are more interesting and ‘there is nothing new to learn again’. Go into today remembering that consistency in the works of the first love keeps the fire of the first love burning. — Pst SD Abraham Get sermons here☞ streamglobe.org/34 Yearly Bible: James 1-3 (Audio version available in our Telegram group) To start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio daily, join our WhatsApp Group Here☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/LKQaJFFK8bhFNZN14TUFCp Join us on Telegram here☞ streamglobe.org/join Streamglobe is interdenominational. THE NEED FOR DISCIPLESHIP 1

Get Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1805 Matthew 28:19 (NET) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit After Larry accepted Christ, he realized that he no longer had the desire to be a sinner. But as time passed, he saw that his desire was not strong enough to keep him from his old sinful habits. Each time he fell, he felt uneasy inside because he knew he was not acting in accordance with his new nature. He knew he had received a new nature inside, but he wanted to know how to let this new nature dominate him and no more the old nature. After discussing his challenges with the person that led him to Christ, it became clear to him that he needed to submit himself to discipleship. Discipleship is God’s educational system for training believers to walk in their new nature through the renewal of their minds by the word(see Rom 12:2). Spiritually mature believers are those who are no more carnal (dominated by the flesh) but are now dominated by the spirit. These are the believers whose lives are now dominated by the kingdom of God and who are striving for their reward in the kingdom. One very important aspect of discipleship is the ministry of the word and prayer. You cannot disciple people without regularly interceding for them and teaching them the word of God; explaining the mysteries of the kingdom of God to them. Without proper discipleship, new believers will remain spiritual babies and may not abide in the Lord. Go into today determined to submit yourself to proper discipleship if you are still controlled by your old nature of sin as a believer. If you are a discipler, ask the Lord to multiply your grace for this. — Pst SD Abraham Get sermons to help you grow here☞ streamglobe.org/34 Yearly Bible: Acts 7-8 To start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio daily, join our WhatsApp Group Here☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/LKQaJFFK8bhFNZN14TUFCp Streamglobe is interdenominational. OUR SPIRITUAL JEWISH IDENTITY

Get Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1804 1 Corinthians 10:1 (KJV) Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea Have you ever wondered why in writing to Gentile (non-Jewish) believers, Apostle Paul referred to the Jewish ancestors who left Egypt as ‘our fathers’? Why is Paul sounding as if all the Corinthian Christians were Jews whose fathers were in the wilderness? This is because Paul understood that everyone in Christ now has the same ancestry as Christ. You see, when Christ came, he came as a Jewish man with Jewish ancestors. Because Jesus could have referred to the prophets of old as ‘our fathers’, the saints who are now members of Christ can also refer to them as ‘our fathers’. It is worthy of note that in just a few paragraphs before today’s verse, Paul said these words: To the Jews, I became as a Jew… (1Cor 9:20). This means Paul no longer primarily saw himself as a Jew in the earthly sense. This is the Christian mindset: we are no longer defined according to our earthly identity, but our spiritual identity means we are descendants of Abraham because of our union with Christ who is the true seed of Abraham (see Gal 3:16). Because of this, we are inheritors of the blessing of Abraham (see Gal 3:13-14). Romans 2:28-29 (NET) For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision something that is outward in the flesh, but someone is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart by the Spirit and not by the written code. This person’s praise is not from people but from God. Go into today thanking Jesus (The king of the Jews) for making you His family. KNOWING GOD’S NAME

Get Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1803 Psalms 91:14 (KJV) Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. Dara was the youngest son in his family. As he grew older, everyone observed that he was the most favored and exalted child from that family. Everything he did prospered and he eventually became the most important and celebrated member of the family because of how much the Lord exalted him. His mother wondered why he was so exalted above everyone else. She later discovered that unlike her other children, Dara knew and feared the Lord from when he was a child, and continued to grow in the knowledge of the Lord. We see in today’s text that God promises to deliver those who love Him and set on high those who know His name. It is only those who love the Lord that can know His name. What does it mean to know God’s name? It means to have a personal relationship with the Lord. Knowing God’s name doesn’t mean to just know about God like everybody, it means knowing God and being known by God because you have a personal walk with the Lord. Go into today desiring to know the Lord more and not just know about Him. Jesus came to make this possible for everyone who believes in Him. LOVING THE LORD

Get Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1802 Psalms 91:14 (KJV) Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. There are times that it may seem the enemy has come upon us in a way we were not prepared for or able to handle. And whereas we are used to casting out and binding, it would appear as if the situation is immune to all that. At times like this, we need help from above because it would appear that the enemy we face is too strong for us. See how David puts it in Psalm 18:17 “He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.” The good news (from today’s Bible verse) is that those who set their love upon God will receive His help and deliverance even when it appears their enemy is too strong for them. Those who love God are those known by God (1Cor 8:3) and the Lord Himself will arise to help them in the time of need. This is a great privilege. How do we set our love on the Lord? The first way is to appreciate how much He loved us and how much it cost Him to forgive our sins (he that is forgiven much loves much). After realizing this great love that the Lord has lavished upon us, we must determine to dwell in this love and love the Lord with all our hearts. Loving the Lord is a decision we can make, that’s why there’s a commandment to that effect (see Matt 22:37). When we truly love the Lord, it would show in our love for His brethren the believers. An undeniable manifestation of love is giving (see John 3:16). If you love the Lord, you would give your life: time, and resources to serving Him and advancing the agenda of His kingdom here on earth. — Pst SD Abraham Yearly Bible: Psalms 120-121 To start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio daily, join our WhatsApp Group Here☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/FL6XDKnAzBLBZYBLd03hbh Streamglobe is interdenominational. RUN TO WIN 3

Get Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud17801 1 Corinthians 9:26-27 (NET) So I do not run uncertainly or box like one who hits only air.Instead I subdue my body and make it my slave, so that after preaching to others I myself will not be disqualified. Every race on the track has its rules and regulations. If an athlete does not run properly on the track according to the rules of the race, he would be disqualified. When you became born again, you were rescued from the kingdom and dominion of darkness and brought into the kingdom of God (see Col 1:13). The kingdom of darkness exerts its control over people through the flesh, but the kingdom of God controls us through our regenerated (Holy Spirit filled) spirits. In the race of the kingdom, if one does not subdue his body and make it his slave, he would not be able to run acceptably. Anyone who is still controlled by the flesh cannot serve God acceptably because another kingdom still has some influence over him through his commitment to the flesh. Service to God in any capacity must be orchestrated and directed by the Spirit of God. But a man still governed by the flesh cannot be led by the Holy Spirit because he is being led by the flesh. The way we identify the works of the flesh is through the word of God. It shows us what the works of the flesh are so that we can identify and reject them. Go into today remembering that the only way to serve God acceptably is to serve Him in spirit and in truth. Ask the Lord to help you always subdue the flesh and live a life controlled by the spirit. — Pst SD Abraham Yearly Bible: II Chronicles 21-24 To start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio daily, join our WhatsApp Group Here☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/FL6XDKnAzBLBZYBLd03hbh Streamglobe is interdenominational. RUN TO WIN 2

Get Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud17800 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (KJV) Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. Because Temitayo wanted to win the trophy, she was willing to do whatever it took. It became impossible for her to hide this from people around her. Everyone knew she was an athlete because she was always doing something that showed she was preparing for the championship. It doesn’t take time for people who have to deal with real serious athletes to know that they are athletes. It is very difficult for them to hide this fact about them. It shows. In the same way, when a believer is really serious about his kingdom assignment and winning his prize, he cannot hide his identity as a believer for long. Any believer who has successfully been able to hide his identity from his coworkers for several months may have been able to do this because he is not really striving for the prize of the mark of the high calling in God. Daniel worked in a most godless environment, but it was impossible for him to hide who he really was. Moses tried, but he couldn’t either. When your kingdom assignment takes over you and becomes the most important thing in your life, you will find that you are a witness for Christ everywhere you go. The Holy Spirit would begin to give you insight into people’s lives just because he wants you to share the gospel with them. Go into today remembering that you are first and foremost a witness for Christ in every place He has planted you. Ask the Lord to help you to this end. RUN TO WIN

Get Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1799 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (KJV) Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. When Temitayo started preparing for the championship in tennis, she knew she now had to become temperate in her eating, sleeping, watching movies, etc. She was told by her instructor that she could no longer eat anything but had to only eat things that maximize energy output. Her life became greatly streamlined because of this championship. Temitayo made the sacrifices she made because she wanted to win the tennis championship. We are also in a championship, but this is for an infinitely more valuable incorruptible prize. The devil and his hoards of demons are our contenders. That can’t win the prize, but they want to hinder us. The only human beings that can overcome them are those who believe in the Lord Jesus (see 1 John 5:5). We must maintain a champion’s mindset of self-control. We must not let the flesh hinder us. We must always put the flesh under the will of our renewed minds. This is the only way to appropriate our victory over our contenders. Go into today remembering that the prize you have to win is the reward for faithfully doing the work cut out for you by God. This reward, among other things, will translate to your place of glory and authority in God’s eternal kingdom that would never end. Not everyone in the kingdom will receive a reward, some will suffer loss (1 Cor 3:15). Ask the Lord to help you run in such a way that you would receive your reward (1 Cor 9:24). — Pst SD Abraham Get our sermons here☞streamglobe.org/34 Yearly Bible: Hebrews 11-13 To start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio daily, join our WhatsApp Group Here☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/FL6XDKnAzBLBZYBLd03hbh Streamglobe is interdenominational. GRACE AND TRUTH

Get Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1798 Psalm 51:16 (KJV)Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Luke was troubled because he knew he was not walking in the power of God like he needed to. He prayed all night almost every night, fasted often, and read his Bible ardently. But he realized that one of his brothers who didn’t do as much as he did had a more robust relationship with the Lord and walked more in God’s power and glory. Luke started asking the Lord why despite all his effort, he didn’t seem to see more of the Lord’s power and glory in his life as a minister. He knew something was wrong but he did not know what it was. As he kept on asking, the Lord revealed to him one morning that the reason was because he was not a person of integrity in his dealings with people. The Lord reminded him of how he would give his word and fail, make promises and forget, etc. He repented and things changed from that day. We all desire to walk in greater grace as children of God. Grace is the power of God that makes us live supernatural lives naturally. Jesus was full of grace and truth (John 1:14). Grace and truth go together. A dishonest man cannot walk in great grace. A man who makes his words fall to the ground (in not keeping his word) cannot walk in great grace. Go into today remembering that the tongue and the power thereof is very important in the appropriation of grace. Those whose lips are deceitful cannot use those same lips to command divine power. Prayer: ask the Lord to help you speak and live for Him. Ask Him to purify your tongue so that you can walk in higher grace (Read Isaiah 6:5-7). — Pst SD Abraham Get our sermons here☞streamglobe.org/34 Yearly Bible: Acts 5-6 To start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio daily, join our WhatsApp Group Here☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/FL6XDKnAzBLBZYBLd03hbh Streamglobe is interdenominational. WHO SHALL DWELL IN GOD’S HOLY HILL?

Get Today’s Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1797 Psalms 15:1-2, 4 (KJV)  LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. I have come across some very dishonest people whose every intention was to swindle money out of my hand. But that does not bother me like when I come in contact with Christians who have no regard for their word. They fail to keep their word and it doesn’t seem to matter to them. I used to be like that before. My words didn’t really matter much to me,  but when I started studying the Bible,  I realized that it was impossible for me to be conformed to the image of Christ and not be full of truth like Christ was. I realized that those who don’t work hard to keep their words among men will not have angels working hard to keep their word in the spirit realm.  If you take a close look at today’s Bible verses, you will see that truthfulness is a criterion for those who would dwell in the highest levels of fellowship and power with God.  A man who fears God will keep his word even when it is not convenient. Go into today examining yourself in the light of God’s Word today. Are you known as someone who keeps your word?  Ask the Lord to forgive every way you may have failed to represent Him in this area. — Pst SD Abraham Want to be saved?
