Every Teacher Learns
đAudio Version Here â bit.ly/audio1874 II Timothy 2:2 (NLT) You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others. There was a man who was a great preacher of Godâs word. He was well versed in the scriptures, was eloquent and bold and spoke with great fervency. One day, he spoke with such power and accuracy in a meeting. In the audience was a couple who listened to him as he expounded the truth of Godâs word accurately. However, they noticed that he was lacking in a certain understanding and so, after the meeting was over, they took him aside and explained to him more accurately the way of God. Apollos was the manâs name and Pricilla and Aquila the coupleâs names (Acts 18:18-28). That Apollos could be taught pre-supposes that he had a teachable spirit. Apollos must have had a reputation for being one of the most anointed men of God, as we would say, yet, he was able to receive from this couple in his audience. Understand that it is pride laced in error that says that you can only be taught by those âaboveâ you. It is wisdom and healthy to always maintain a teachable spirit. A teachable spirit is a posture of heart that accepts that it doesnât know it all and can be taught something by someone who knows it regardless of the personâs standing. You could be a pastor, a fellowship president, an overseer, or a husband and father. These are offices and not a declaration that you have attained the pinnacle of knowledge especially in relation to those under you. Be ready to learn, be willing to be taught. Obstinacy is not a virtue and pride is not of God. Declaration: I have a teachable spirit. I am open to teaching. I am willing to learn, I am ready to be taught. âIkechukwu Mpama Streamglobe is nondenominational. Kindly share this Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. Why Ask?
đAudio Version Here â bit.ly/audio1874 Matthew 7:11 (NKJV)If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Most good earthly fathers and mothers don’t have to wait for their children to ask them for things they need before they give them. Sometimes, our earthly fathers and mothers are the ones to notice that we have a need and meet it before we even realize that we have such needs. But God is more gracious than the best parents in this world. As a matter of fact, when you compare the goodness of the best man to that of God, that man would seem like an evil person. That’s why Jesus said in today’s Bible verse that ‘if ye then, being evil… ‘ Why then do we need to ask our heavenly Father before we receive certain things from Him? Why does He keep encouraging us in different parts of His word to ask first in order to receive (see Psalm 2:8, Matt 7:7, James 1:5, James 4:2:2b, etc)? Being so good and loving and kind, why doesn’t He just give us all we need and we not needing to ask Him? When God made man after His image and likeness, He created in man the ability to have self-will and self-government, and man was to live by submitting this will and government to God. Through the fall, man declared independence from God, and in effect, disconnected himself from the life and government of God. Because God had already given man dominion over his realm(see Psa 115:16, ps 8:6) and God does not go back on His word, man was now the master of his destiny and Satan his master through sin. Now that God is redeeming man from the fall, He needs men to ask Him before He can do certain things for them. Asking God concerning your needs [and wants] does not inform Him about them (He already knows them), asking Him gives Him the spiritual legal license and access to invade your life and help you. Many times, He needs us to give Him this license by asking Him, thatâs why He keeps reminding us to ask. Because of the fall, almost every action of man is saying to God that ‘I do not need you. I can survive on my own’. Asking God would undo that and say ‘I need you’. And there are times we need to continually consciously keep asking so as to sufficiently undo the rebellion that the accuser of brethren is using as a legal ground to against us. Go into today remembering that prayer is earthly permission for heavenly invasion. Let the heavens invade your life today with Godâs goodness. âAbraham Damilola Arigi Streamglobe is nondenominational. Kindly share this Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. Running to The Rock 2
đAudio Version Here â bit.ly/audio1873 đAudio Version Here â bit.ly/audio1873 Psalms 61:2 (NKJV) From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Mike was still recovering from the depression of losing his job when he was informed that he was going to be evicted from his house and lose his car because he had been defaulting in his mortgage and car payments. At this point, his relationship with his wife had gone from sweet to sour. Even though he was a believer, his heart was now overwhelmed. He was greatly encouraged when he saw todayâs Bible verse marked in the middle of his Bible. He knew exactly what to do. He told his wife he was going on a retreat to spend some time with the Lord. He spent the whole day alone with God praying and studying His word. When he returned from the retreat, his wife knew that something had changed about her husband. He was no more irritable and sour. He was now optimistic and positive. Because he ran to Christ the rock when his heart was overwhelmed, his sinking spirit was restored and He came out of that season of his life with great testimonies. As a believer, your heart cannot be overwhelmed if you abide in Christ by constant fellowship with Him through fellowship with His Word and Spirit, and through fellowship with other Spirit-filled believers. But many times, if we do not keep our fellowship with the Lord, our hearts can become overwhelmed by the pressures of this life. What do we do then? Those in the world would seek to be relieved by getting drunk with wine or getting high on drugs, etc. But for us who have a relationship with Christ the Rock, we run back to the rock and get filled with the Spirit again. We do this by taking out time to spend with the Lord through prayers and the ministry of the word. Go into today remembering that God will by means cast away those who come to Him in brokenness and trust. Remember that those who wait on the Lord are those who renew strength and soar in life (see Isaiah 40:31). Kindly partner with us to distribute free devotional booklets this year. Life Direction
Jer 10:23 (TLB) 23 O Lord, I know it is not within the power of man to map his life and plan his course- Joe was once scheduled to have a meeting with Daniel in Abuja. The meeting was to take place in a hotel and Daniel had sent the address to Joe. Now Joe didnât live in Abuja and the address Daniel sent was not so comprehensive. Joe followed the address to a point but couldnât go any further so he employed the use of the Google Maps app on his phone. Before long, with the aid of the app, he arrived at the hotel in time for the meeting. This was made possible because of GPS (Global Positioning System) technology. In the matters of life and destiny, no such app exists to give man direction. There exists only the Divine Positioning System. The Bible reveals to us that man is not designed with the ability to map his own life and plan his course. That ability is in the exclusive preserve of God, for man was never designed to live (meaningfully) without God. That every road leads somewhere doesnât at all imply that every road can lead to our destination. Regardless of the âI am the captain of my soulâ philosophy which reigns in the world, the Bible teaches otherwise. It reveals that our days have been written in Godâs book even before we were born (See Psalms 139:16), that He ordains our life-purpose even before we were born (See Jeremiah 1:5). God has the big picture of life; our life and that of the whole world, He has the full picture. Past, present, and future are spread out before Him like a curtain. God alone has the full picture, He only has infinite wisdom. A man can go his own and arrive somewhere, but remember, âthere is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to deathâ (Prov 14:12). Make up your mind today to trust only in Godâs wisdom. Running to The Rock
đAudio Version Here â bit.ly/aud1871 Psalms 61:2 (NKJV) From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. It was another New Yearâs watch night service, and Ugo had made New Year resolutions containing a list of things he was determined not to do again. But he was now tired of making these resolutions every New Year. There was weariness and emptiness in his soul that he was trying to fill. He knew in his heart that he would still go back to his old habits of sin. They seemed to temporarily give him pleasure and fill the hole of emptiness in his soul (only to leave a deeper bigger emptiness that would require him plunging deeper into sin to satisfy). He was now tired of this cycle. His heart was now overwhelmed, he wanted out. Who or what is the rock that David was referring to in todayâs Bible verse? Because the rock is the only solution for the overwhelmed heart. In 1 Corinthians 10:14, we see that the spiritual rock the saints of old drank from was Christ. They drank from The Rock by their willful submission to the authority of God over them. This principle has not changed in the new covenant. A man who is still trying to please God without the help [support and foundation] of The Rock will be overwhelmed. He needs to come to Christ (The rock) and drink of the water of the spirit until he overflows(see John 7:37-39). A believer who is now getting overwhelmed in his heart needs to run back to the rock and drink again by getting filled with the Holy Spirit again. Go into today remembering that Christ is the solution for the overwhelmed heart. Ask the Lord to teach you to stay filled with the spirit and never again be overwhelmed by the pressures of life. Ask the Lord to help you be a soul winner leading people to the Lord and helping them abide in Him. We Are Christ’s Body
đAudio Version Here â bit.ly/aud1870 1 Corinthians 12:27 (NET) Now you are Christâs body, and each of you is a member of it. Because of the way she grew up, Sandra had a terrible inferiority complex. Her mother made her believe she was not as talented and valuable as her other sisters because she was not as beautiful and outgoing. After Sandra believed in the Lord Jesus, she still struggled with inferiority complex and insecurity until she heard a Teaching based on today’s Bible verse. She was made to understand that her salvation was no coincidence and that even her birth into this world was because God had predestined her unto salvation before the foundation of the world (see Eph 1:4, Rev 17:8, 13:8), and that she was now a member of the body of Christ. No member of the body of Christ should ever feel inferior in this world because “as He is so also are we in this world” (1 John 4:17). All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to the Lord Jesus (Matt 28:18). As a member of His body, you share in this authority. As a member of the body of Christ, no sickness, demon or situation can kill you before your time. You are more than a conqueror because you are a member of the body of Christ (Rom 8:37). Disciples of Christ that believe this truth are the ones who walk in it. They expect life to respond to them the way it would respond to Christ because they are members of Christ’s body. When believers come together in unity, we can invoke the full power of Christâs body because we (together) are Christâs body (see Matt 16:19, Matt 18:18, John 20:23). Go into today confessing and constantly reminding yourself that you are a member of the body of Christ. Expect to see life respond to you differently because of this reality that is being activated in your life through faith. Prayer: Lord, help me to see me, the way you see me. Gifts and Fruitfulness: Faith
đAudio Version Here â bit.ly/aud1869 Dan 2:16 (BET) So Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation. Lanre was in a quandary, what should he do? It was in church after the Wednesday midweek service as they were saying the grace, he heard clearly in the spirit âGo and meet Bosun, I have a word for himâ. But Lanre was having a battle with himself, how will I, a 19-year-old boy go meet the Choir leader, what will I tell him? What if I meet him and no (further) words come and Iâll be looking like a fool. How am I even sure that this is not my mind playing tricks on me? What should Lanre do? Better still, what would you do? In our text today, the king had already ordered the killing of all the wise men and astrologers of Babylon because they couldnât tell him his dream and its interpretation. The astrologers and wise men of Babylon had cried out that such a task was only possible for gods whose dwelling was not with men, they didnât know any better. But Daniel went to the king asking for some time so he could come up with the dream and its interpretation. Note that when Daniel went in to the king he had neither the dream nor its interpretation, but he had his faith. He had faith in the God of heaven, he had faith that he could receive from the Lord. To be fruitful with your gifts, you must have faith that the gift of God can and will flow through you. Take a cue from Peter and John in Acts 3:6,12,16. Go into today remembering that the power is not yours but Jesusâ but he has given you the authority to use His power; have faith that this power will flow through you and by so doing give expression to your gifts. Prayer: Lord, please help my unbelief and help me walk in my gifts. âIkechukwu Mpama Streamglobe is nondenominational. Kindly share this Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. Gifts and Fruitfulness: Prayer
đAudio Version Here â bit.ly/aud1868 Dan 1:17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. Dan 2:17-19 Then Daniel went to his house and made known the thing to ⌠his companions. That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret that Daniel and his fellows should not perish. Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision⌠Have you been baptized with the Holy Spirit? Ever prayed for a gift of the Spirit? Or ever had a word of prophecy about you proclaiming that you have a gift of the Spirit and yet you have never seen yourself walk in it? 1 Cor 12:7 tells us that the manifestation of the Spirit is given to profit all. This aim becomes defeated when a gift is not put to use. In the text today we see that Daniel was endowed with a gift which we can identify as the discernment of spirits (1 Cor 12:10), however, when a time came for him to manifest his gift and deliver his friends and the wise men of Babylon, he gave himself to prayer. Daniel didnât pray only when he needed to manifest his gift, he made prayer a culture (Daniel 6:10) and was therefore fruitful in the exercise of his gift and was relevant to Godâs agenda for his generation. As a dear minister of God once said, âprayer services powerâ. You see, when we pray we make the power of God in us available for use; when we pray, we give expression to the gift of God in us. With prayer we fan to flame the gift of God in us. Go into today with a determination to give yourself to prayer. âIkechukwu Mpama Streamglobe is nondenominational. Only Possible By God’s Power
đAudio Version Here â bit.ly/aud1867 Mark 10:27 (NKJV)But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”Read Mark 10:24-26 One reason Froid found it difficult to accept the gospel was because he did not think it was possible for him to be saved. Being extremely intelligent, he had done his calculations and seen that salvation for him was practically impossible. (But he was wrong because he did not factor in the power of God. He only factored in human willpower). He knew that truly believing in the Lord Jesus meant he would forsake his life and livelihood– a life he had spent very many years building. His biggest accomplishments in life were things done in direct rebellion to the kingdom of God, and he knew he would have to forsake all that if he wanted the salvation of Christ. When Jesus said that those who trust in their riches cannot inherit the kingdom of God (Mark 10:24), it was such a revolutionary statement that He had to encourage His disciples by making the statement in todayâs Bible verse–Salvation is only possible with God’s help (Grace). Before anybody can enter the kingdom of God, he must put his trust completely in the Lord Jesus (even this is done through the help of God). Have you seen the way little children completely trust their parents and have no other option but their parents? That’s how we must trust in God in order to partake in His kingdom and power (see Mark 10:15). One sign that a person has truly received God’s kingdom is that they would walk in the power of Christ (Mark 16:17-18). The most remarkable and powerful thing this power does is to free us from the power of sin. This power also performs miracles and solves problems, etc. Go into today remembering that because of faith in Christ and Christ alone, you will inherit Godâs Kingdom for all eternity. Members of One Body
đAudio Version Here â bit.ly/aud1866 1 Corinthians 12:15-16 (NKJV) If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? On social media, Ugochukwu was very fond of criticizing church leaders. Even though he was a believer, because he was not called into the ministry of teaching or preaching (all five-fold ministry offices involve teaching and/or preaching), he did not properly reckon himself as a part of the body but felt it was OK for him to stand apart from the church and criticize it publicly. Through his actions, he was saying âI am not of the bodyâ. One of the loudest ways a believer can say âI am not of the bodyâ is by joining unbelievers and enemies of Christ to publicly malign and criticize the church and its ministers. This post is in no way giving leeway to ministers who err, but is a reminder to believers that many [trumped up] attacks on erring ministers have an underlining agenda to destroy the credibility of the body of Christ as a whole. It is foolishness to be part of this as a member of the body. Not being a preacher, Ugochukwu didn’t feel like a part of the body of Christ the way he should, but this didn’t change the fact that through faith in Christ, he was indeed a part of the body. It took him time to realize that his habit of publicly criticizing ministers of the body of Christ was a major limiting factor in his walk with the Lord. He could not walk in divine health and healing because of this. Go into today remembering that through faith in Christ Jesus, you are a member of the body of Christ. Do not be tempted to feel you are less a member than those who are at the forefront of ministry. Some of the unseen parts of the body are the most important. Prayer: Ask the Lord the help you rightly discern His body and draw from all the benefits that His body provides. âPst. Abraham Damilola Arigi Streamglobe is nondenominational.
