Romans 1:11 (NLT)
For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord.
When Stacy realized that she needed to be discipled, she found this very difficult because of her history. When she was in the occult, she knew the secret of many believers and even certain pastors, and she knew that many of them were hypocrites. This was the first reason she decided she was not going to commit herself to anyone, but would grow on own. Now that she realized that the Lord wanted her to be discipled by someone, she began to pray about it. She now remembered the pastor who was indirectly responsible for her salvation. Her reasoning was that he had to be a genuine pastor for the Lord to defend him the way He did when she tried to attack him. She decided to start attending his church. In that church she was no more anonymous, but started interacting with other believers. This was the beginning of her accelerated spiritual growth.
One of the powerful advantages of discipleship and Christian fellowship is impartation. Another great advantage is accountability. It is very important for every believer to have other believers to whom he or she is accountable. Even the Apostles in the early church were accountable to one another. This means they could correct and rebuke one another (see Gal 2:11-14).
Today, there are many believers who are not accountable to anyone. They cannot be corrected because they feel they have great knowledge. But this is a trap of the evil one.
Go into today asking the Lord to connect you to brethren to whom you will be accountable. Ask the Lord to deliver you from the wrong company.
