Luke 17:10 (KJV) So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
During joseph’s lifetime, he did not get a special reward for the part he played in the birth and life of Jesus. However, after he is long dead, he is now a subject to study, and wherever Jesus’ birth is mentioned, he must be mentioned also. What an eternal honor.
God is a just God and because of this, he will reward everyone according to his work. We must learn to trust Him!
If you were Joseph, what would you have done? Would you ask the Angel for what your gain will be? Joseph, however, did not question God, he just obeyed knowing that his gain is in doing the will of God. He obeyed God and his name and work will now transcend time.
Will you serve God acceptably and receive a just and enduring reward or will you serve Him for gains that have no eternal value? From today’s scripture, we can learn that those who would serve God acceptably do not do so with an entitlement mentality, they do so with a servant mentality even though they are sons.
Go into today knowing that it is when you serve God with the right mindset that your labor is a labor of love, and such will never go unrewarded.
Pray this way: Lord I receive grace to give my all to serve your pleasure, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
