Hebrews 6:1 (NET) Therefore we must progress beyond the elementary instructions about Christ and move on to maturity, not laying this foundation again: repentance from dead works and faith in God
Nosa wasn’t sure he was accepted before God because he was told that God does not like tattoos and he had quite a few before he believed in the Lord Jesus. He was wrongly made to believe that God has not yet accepted him even though he had believed, but that he would have to labor to be accepted by the Lord.
By the time a believer begins to believe that his acceptance before God is based on anything apart from the works of Jesus, he needs to repent from dead works. As believers, we are to live holy and consecrated lives before God, but not as our basis for acceptance but because we have already been accepted.
The advantage of deeper consecration is better fellowship and intimacy, not relationship and acceptance. Only those who have new birth are called to the higher life of consecration so they can be prepared for the Lord’s good use( see 2 Timothy 2:20-22).
Go into today remembering that a system that directly or indirectly engenders dead works cannot produce true holiness. The proof of true holiness is power with God born out of intimacy, not religious conformity born out of fear.
