Psalm 112:2-3 (KJV)
His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
Rachel was a part of a group that believed wealth was evil. Whenever she was engaged in conversations bordering around wealth and prosperity, she quickly quoted Mark 10:25, stating how impossible it is for a wealthy person to enter the kingdom of God. She continued in this belief until her visit to another Church, where one thousand students were given scholarships in a single meeting and this did not affect their regular monthly crusade. Seeing this, she exclaimed,‘ my Church has never given a single scholarship out, we even struggle with paying our Pastor’s salary, but here is a Church giving out one thousand scholarships in one meeting! She returned home questioning her beliefs because she saw the good works people were using the wealth that God gave them to do.
Our pursuit in the kingdom of God should never be earthly wealth(see Matt 6:32-33), however, in fulfilling our kingdom mandates in this world, some would be blessed with great material wealth, and there is nothing wrong with that. Those who are rich in the church must never fall for the deceitfulness of riches that makes a person puts his hope in them rather than in the Lord God (see 1 Timothy 6:17). They must realize that the Lord gave them material wealth for a peculiar purpose for which they would give an account before Him.
The fear of missing eternal life has been the reason why so many believers repel wealth and riches from their hearts.
If you are afraid whenever you hear about the rapture or the second coming of Jesus, you may need to reexamine your beliefs. You may have believed wrongly or have never really known Jesus.
From today’s text, it is evident that wealth and riches can dwell with righteousness. Now, consider 2 Corinthians 9:8 (KJV), ’And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work’
Go into today knowing that there is grace in God that makes all sufficiency available to a man in other that he may abound to every good work. Remember that Jesus went about doing good (Acts 10:38), and you should do the same.
Pray this way: in the name of Jesus and by His word, I cast down every stronghold(thought, imagination, mindset) in me that seeks to bring me under any kind of limitation. Amen.
