Living By Faith

Hebrews 11:5-6 (KJV) By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Arielle lived a dirty life as a call girl who did drugs, wild parties, and other terrible things. Her neighbor had preached to her about putting her faith in God but she mocked her saying “oh! What do you know about faith? I have more faith than you that’s why I have all my needs met. Or have you forgotten how I was healed of HIV last month in the crusade you invited me to? What did you get from that crusade? Nothing I guess. You see, I have more faith than you already”.

Sometime later, in another crusade, Arielle truly accepted the Lord Jesus, and it was after this that she discovered that there was more to faith than she had earlier known.

Faith is the power given to you by God to live a life that pleases Him. When you are living to please God, you will love what He loves and hate what He hates. Simply put, you will do God’s will. The prayers prayed by one who lives like this will be answered because he is in the will of God (John 15:7, 1 John 5:14).

There is a kind of faith that helps us to get things from God but much better is the faith that helps us to live lives pleasing to God. The former is aimed at bringing us to the place where we find the latter, thus the ultimate aim of faith is to help us please God, not just to get things from Him.

If you desire intimacy with God, you must learn to please Him and this is only possible by faith. It is those who please Him that are His friends (read Mark 3:35) who will reign with Him.
