Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV)
It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

It was after Amaka had accepted the Lord Jesus and was instrumental in bringing many to Christ that she got careless and fell into the sin of sexual immorality which led to an unwanted pregnancy. In wanting to cover up because of her reputation, she aborted the baby.

But when her conscience continued to trouble her, she confessed to her local Church council and they help her back on her feet. But whenever she heard a preacher mention sexual immorality or abortion, she would burst into tears because she had not forgiven herself. This continued for years, and during this period she didn’t make any progress in her walk with the Lord. She would blame herself for everything going wrong, so much so that she became depressed and even attempted suicide. But through much counseling and prayers, the Lord restored her.

Satan the accuser is constantly seeking moments of advantage to torment children of God. One such moment of advantage is when a child of God is unable to forgive himself after confessing and repenting from sin.

2 Corinthians 2:11 (KJV) reads,  ‘‘lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices’’. In order not to give Satan an undue advantage like Amaka did, you must understand that God’s mercies are new every morning. Once God has forgiven your sin, you are forgiven indeed. Any voice reminding you of that same sin is not of God.

Go into today knowing that if you are in Christ, God has forgiven you. Accept his forgiveness and move on. Do not give Satan space.

Prayer: Confess and repent from every known sin. Receive God’s forgiveness by faith in Jesus’ name.

Ask for grace to never return to sin again in Jesus’ name.
