Act 13:36 (KJV) For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

One day the Lord Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee and he saw two brothers who were professional fishermen. Jesus invited them to follow Him so He would make them ‘fishers of men’ (Mat. 4:18-19).

As human beings, we train ourselves and acquire skills with the aim to make a living. As children of God, we ought to allow God guide us by His will because we were destined to serve Him. Moses had the best education in Egypt and proceeded to learn the skill of shepherding. He eventually served God by leading God’s people out of bondage. David was the Sweet Psalmist of Israel and the shepherd boy for his family. He eventually served God’s purpose as king of Israel. Our Lord Jesus was the famous carpenter in Nazareth until He stepped up to serve God’s eternal purpose.
Serving God is not just a call from the secular to the ministry. For the child of God, life is ministry from one level to another. We should learn the skills, and prepare for life with the mind-set to serve God’s purpose in our own generation. This is the sense of mission that makes it easy to obey God whenever He invites us to even a higher service to Him.
Go about your education, profession or vocation today knowing you are here to serve God. Be the best in what you do as service to the Lord Jesus (see Colossian 3:23-24).

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to fulfil my destiny of service to you. Help me to serve you in every little way today and always. Amen.
