Why I believe in Jesus

Ezekiel 36:26 (NLT) “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.” I understand from the Bible that I was shaped in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me. I didn’t need to learn how to lie or steal, it came naturally, I was born that way. I tried to correct this crooked condition of my heart through education, but, you see, education is too weak to change the heart of man. That is why you can see professors who are drunks and immoral. I felt helpless and hopeless until I met Jesus. Jesus is the only one who is big enough to change the condition of my heart and your heart. Education alone cannot do it. Do you know why it is only Jesus who can do it? Because He is the only one that died and rose again, therefore, he can go into your life and deal with the limitations of your past thus setting you for a more glorious future. What is the condition of your heart? Only Jesus describes it in His word. We don’t like the description and we fight against the description, but every day we prove the description: that your heart and my heart are desperately wicked. God alone provides for this malady, and He has made a way to change our hearts. Go into today knowing that God gives you a new day; He gives you a new chance; He gives you a new hope; He gives you a new heart. Friend, this is why I believe in Jesus. Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me a new heart and a new spirit, give me holy desires as I come into this day, amen.—Otuokon, Ubokudom Kindly share this Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. The cross of Jesus Christ

1 Cor 1:18 (NET) For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. Konrad Adenauer, chancellor of Germany after the fall of Hitler once asked Billy Graham while on a visit to Germany, “Do you really believe in the resurrection of the dead?” Mr. Graham answered that if he didn’t believe in the resurrection of Jesus, he wouldn’t be there to preach. Walking across the room and looking over the ruins of Germany, Adenauer said to Billy Graham “outside of the resurrection, I know of no hope for mankind.” He said this looking at the ruins of Germany after the devastating war. Seeing the human nature of wickedness in it’s brightest manifestation. The cross of Jesus Christ stands as the centerpiece of the gospel message of Christ because it recognizes the dastardliness of what sin is and the beauty and the love of forgiveness. There is no religion in the world that offers the hope of redemption except the cross of Jesus in the Christian worldview. The eastern religions talk about karma, the Muslim says that his good deeds must outweigh his bad deeds for him to make paradise; these are not pejorative statements, but doctrinally proven conclusions. The Cross of Jesus is the only answer in the world that offers you a savior. In understanding the message of the cross, you will understand the message of forgiveness, because in learning how to receive forgiveness, you will also learn how to forgive. At the cross, Christ offers you forgiveness. Friend, outside of the cross of Jesus, there is no hope for mankind.—Otuokon, Ubokudom Kindly share this Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. Open the eyes of my heart Lord

2 Kings 6:17 (KJV) “And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”If there is anything we need this season, it’s that the Lord would open our eyes. In light of this need, there are four kinds of sight we need this season: So, friend, as you go into this day, let your heart cry and desire be that the Lord will open the eyes of your heart that you may see. Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to understand that you’re always with me and that your power can do all things, Amen.—Otuokon, Ubokudom Kindly share this Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. Inviting God through thanksgiving

John 6:11(NET) Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed the bread to those who were seated. He then did the same with the fish, as much as they wanted.I once heard the story of a great servant of God who had a cook that was heavily possessed with demons. Each time she cooked for him, she would cast a spell on the food. But before he ate his food every time, he would give thanks and the spell would be removed. Unknown to her, the man of God knew all she was doing, but never fired her. When her day of deliverance came, she was the one who confessed all she had been doing and how she would see her demonic spell leave the food each and every time. His secret was thanksgiving. Have you noticed that Jesus gave thanks each time he broke bread (see Matthew 14:19, Luke 22:19) ? Have you noticed that He also gave thanks before he raised Lazarus from the dead? (See John 11:41). One of the easiest ways to usher God into a situation is to give Him thanks. When you acknowledge God by thanking Him, you are inviting His presence into whatever you are thanking Him for. As you go into today, determine to magnify God in your life by being thankful in all things. This is the easiest way to invite God and see His mighty power at work in your life. Read 1 Thess 5:18 and Psalm 22:3 in KJV. Prayer confession: from now henceforth, I will thank the Lord in all situations; I will experience a greater dimension of His power and glory in my life. The joy of His salvation

Isa 12:3 (KJV) Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. Everyone in the office was sure that Alex was a Christian. His high moral way of life could be attested to by his colleagues. Also, Alex made efforts to share with them the gospel. However, Alex did not make a single convert among his colleagues. In fact, it appeared they were just not interested in hearing him. This bothered Alex for long, and he kept praying to God about it. One day, he looked into the mirror and saw his own face; stern and unsmiling. He himself was amazed. He said to himself ‘this man in the mirror does not look happy. How can he convince me to adopt his way of life?’ He discovered he was not radiating one of the most important ingredients of his salvation- joy. Of course, he changed by the power of the Holy Spirit. He noticed afterwards how colleagues would come to him saying ‘Tell us about this your Jesus’. When Phillip preached the gospel in Samaria, the Bible said ‘there was great joy in that city’ (Acts 8:5-8). When the Ethiopian eunuch understood the good news from Phillip, the Bible said ‘he went on his way rejoicing’ (Acts 8:26-40). David at some point in his life prayed to God to restore to him ‘the joy of Your salvation’ (Psalms 51:12-13). And our main text reveals how it is with joy that we can maximize the benefits of our being saved. Then sinners can see our joy and turn to the Lord. Go into today radiating the joy of the Holy Ghost. Let that joy flow into the lives of others as they come in contact with you. Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to advertise your salvation by the deep joy that only You can give. Let this be my experience from now on. The path of salvation

1 Cor 1:18 (NET) For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are BEING saved it is the power of God. Jide: Pastor, what is happening with sis Clair? She no longer comes to Church and she has really changed. Pastor: We have been praying for her. I have talked to her several times. let’s keep praying for her to be restored Jide: That is one thing I don’t understand. How come people can backslide after becoming children of God? Because physically speaking, it is impossible for me to stop being a child of my parents. Pastor: One lesson the Lord has taught me is that our salvation is a continuous process until we become exactly like the Lord Jesus. This journey of salvation will end the day we see the Lord and become exactly as He is (see 1 John 3:2). What really happens when a person accepts Christ is that he leaves the path of darkness and starts on the path of salvation. As he walks with the Lord and learns more and more, the Lord’s grace and glory is multiplied in his life and he becomes more and more like the Lord through God’s power. Unlike physical birth, our spiritual birth happened because we chose to follow Christ according to the will of God. If we now chose not to follow Christ anymore, we are backsliding and leaving the faith. That is the reason why some people’s name will be removed from the book of life (see Rev 3:5). Go into today knowing that God has given you the power to become His son.Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you use this mighty power to become all that He wants you to be.—Abraham Damilola Arigi Kindly share this Nondenominational Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. Strength to stand

Luke 21:36(AMP) “ Keep awake then and watch at all times [be discreet, attentive, and ready], praying that you may have the full strength and ability and be accounted worthy to escape all these things [taken together] that will take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man.”  It is important for us to pay more attention to what the Lord is saying in today’s Bible passage. As Christians, we need to wake up, wake up in the place of prayer; wake up in the place of meditative study of the word of God. Those who will survive the tough times as Christians are those who meditate on God’s word; watching and praying. Our Lord did not just caution us to keep awake and be prayerful to survive the tough times, you see, we need strength to stand before the Son of Man. Friend, as for me, I want to see His face. I want to trust Him to take me through all these things and give me strength to stand before Him when he returns. I don’t want to be ashamed at His appearance, because many will be. I want to resemble Him, He is coming for those that look like Him. So what must I do? I must not give up on Him now. He hasn’t given up on me. What if I fall? I must stand up, and get back into the race. Micah 7:8 says ” Rejoice not against me, O my enemy! When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light to me.” Dear friend, keep awake and be watchful at all times, pray for strength to escape all these things and to stand before the Son of Man. Prayer: Father please grant me the grace to keep awake and to be alert at all times. Help me to run this race till I reach the finish line, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.—Otuokon, UbokudomKindly share this Nondenominational Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. Destined to serve God

Act 13:36 (KJV) For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:  One day the Lord Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee and he saw two brothers who were professional fishermen. Jesus invited them to follow Him so He would make them ‘fishers of men’ (Mat. 4:18-19). As human beings, we train ourselves and acquire skills with the aim to make a living. As children of God, we ought to allow God guide us by His will because we were destined to serve Him. Moses had the best education in Egypt and proceeded to learn the skill of shepherding. He eventually served God by leading God’s people out of bondage. David was the Sweet Psalmist of Israel and the shepherd boy for his family. He eventually served God’s purpose as king of Israel. Our Lord Jesus was the famous carpenter in Nazareth until He stepped up to serve God’s eternal purpose.Serving God is not just a call from the secular to the ministry. For the child of God, life is ministry from one level to another. We should learn the skills, and prepare for life with the mind-set to serve God’s purpose in our own generation. This is the sense of mission that makes it easy to obey God whenever He invites us to even a higher service to Him.Go about your education, profession or vocation today knowing you are here to serve God. Be the best in what you do as service to the Lord Jesus (see Colossian 3:23-24). Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to fulfil my destiny of service to you. Help me to serve you in every little way today and always. Amen.—Adeolu Olumodeji https://listen.streamglobe.org/DevotionalAudio3930.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | Download ()Subscribe: RSS

Bless and do not curse

Rom 12:14 (NIV) Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.  When armed robbers entered the apartment of the Akande’s, at some point, they attempted to spray everyone with acid. The acid spilled on some of the children and wounded them badly. What people in the other apartments wondered was where the armed robbers got the acid they used. It so happened that the Akande’s had a gallon of acid in their apartment, and the armed robbers found it. ‘What were they doing with so much acid in their home?’ One neighbor frantically asked? Curses are like spiritual acid. Even though Christians have the power to invoke them, we are not to use them. We are to bless instead of curse. The reason is because God has taken upon Himself the awesome responsibility to judge all wickedness. Let’s leave judgment to God because the Lord’s judgment is the most just. Even though people may escape human justice, no one can escape God’s judgment. When a person is accustomed to pronouncing curses, curses may not be too far from his dwelling place. When a person is one who blesses, his life would be full of blessings. An African adage says you cannot rub oil on someone’s hair and your hand left without oil. I believe there would have been no Apostle called Paul if Stephen were like many Christians today that pronounce curses on their enemies. Paul was one of those who sanctioned the murder of Stephen, but instead of pronouncing doom on all who murdered him, Stephen interceded for their souls. Go into today, deciding to yield to the spirit of Christ within you. This Spirit blesses even when cursing would have been justified. (Read Luke 9:52-55). Prayer: Father, please help me use the Authority you have given me to advance your Kingdom agenda. Priority of the word

Acts 6:2 (KJV) Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. There came a time when the early Church needed some more administration especially in the distribution of food among brethren. The apostles weighed the options and decided their primary assignment must not change even in the face of an emergency. They should never allow their devotion to God’s word suffer by attending to even legitimate contingencies. A similar scenario played out at Bethany. Jesus was in the house of Mary and Martha. Martha thought cooking for the Lord was more important and accused her sister Mary of not being helpful in that regard. But Mary, sitting at the Lord’s feet listening to God’s word was commended by the Lord. Jesus arbitrated between the two sisters this way; “Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luk 10:41-42). Scriptures tell us that God magnifies His word above His name (Psa 138:2). And He is committed to someone who ‘trembles’ at His word (see Isa 66:1-2). The man who ‘trembles’ at God’s word will resist any activity (no matter how legitimate) that threatens his attention to God’s word. We give priority to God’s word in our lives when we observe a regular time of studying Scriptures. We also do this by listening to Spirit-filled servants of God. And also obeying God’s words when we know them. Go and do likewise today and always. Prayer confession: Lord, I put Your word first in my life. I trust you to put my life in order. Amen.—Adeolu Olumodeji Kindly share this Nondenominational Devotional with your contacts and let’s bless lives together.
