Sermon: Salvation From Damnation
A Sermon by Pastor Abraham Damilola Arigi
Wisdom From Above 2
1 Corinthians 3:20 (NET) And again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.” Lamide graduated with first-class as the best graduating student in her university. She accomplished this through diligence and wisdom. From her first week on campus, she determined what she wanted and started working towards it. By the time she graduated, she was already an expert at accomplishing her set goals. She was not easily distracted and knew how to get what she wanted. But she did not know God and despised the idea of being a ‘born again’. All her wisdom proved futile when she started dealing with enmity from the immortal realm. Her stepmother hated her more when she heard of Lamide’s success in school. She somehow believed that Lamide’s success was shielding her children from succeeding. She paid a sorcerer to cast an evil spell on Lamide. The spell worked, and with time, Lamide’s life was in disarray. She stopped making progress, made some very bad choices in life, and ended up a very unhappy person. Lamide’s wisdom could not help her because her problems were spiritually orchestrated. Anyone who only depends on human wisdom will find himself disadvantaged if he has to confront people who have just a little spiritual upper hand. But anyone who has the wisdom from above can never be disadvantaged in any situation. In all things, God works for their good (see Rom 8:28). Wisdom from above is only available to those who are in God’s kingdom. (see John 3:3). As you go into today, go for the wisdom that has relevance both in time and eternity. Prayer: Ask the Lord to give you His kind of wisdom. Wisdom From Above
1 Corinthians 3:19 (NET) For the wisdom of this age is foolishness with God. As it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness.” As a wise man according to the system of this world, Agu was very good at hustling and grabbing to get. And he thought this same method would advance him in the kingdom of God as it advanced him in the world, but he was sorely wrong. For example, during Holy Communion in church, because he was the head usher, he would insist on taking the leftover bread and wine home because he believed in the power of the communion. There was nothing wrong with this in itself, only that even at times when some people in the church could not get Holy communion because more people attended the service than expected, Agu would still take some ‘leftover’ bread and wine home. Such were his ways even in the church. But after some time, he realized that this kind of wisdom was not helping him advance in spiritual stature, and spiritual stature was what he wanted. There are many things done in the world that many have introduced into their kingdom life, but unknown to them, it is nothing but foolishness in the sight of God. The wisdom of this world is selfish, mean, self-centered, crafty, wicked, deceptive, proud, and ruthless. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere (see James 3:17). It may not look so at the onset, but even in this world, the wisdom that comes from above is better than the wisdom of this world. It yields better fruits because God is still the owner and ruler of heaven and earth. This wisdom links His children with riches that don’t come with sorrows (Prov 10:22). —Pastor Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Leviticus 7-9 Streamglobe is Nondenominational. God’s Kingdom Authority
1 Corinthians 3:18 (NET) Guard against self-deception, each of you. If someone among you thinks he is wise in this age, let him become foolish so that he can become wise. Certain incidences had revealed to Agu that he did not have so much spiritual stature and authority in the kingdom. He knew this when he spent time with some missionaries and saw how much of Christ’s authority they walked in and even exerted over their environment. Jesus could command the storm and speak to the fig tree because of this authority. Paul could effectively be a witness for Jesus in the darkest places of the world and was dreaded by demons because of this authority. Agu now knew that even though kingdom authority is inherited, we have to grow into it. Before he became born again, he was a very wealthy man in this world and was vast in the wisdom of this world. He now wanted the greatness of the kingdom of God but was still using the wisdom of this world. Many principles in the kingdom of God are antithetical to that of the kingdom of this world. For example, Jesus says those who are great in the kingdom of God are determined by their extent of service to others, not by the extent to which people serve them (see Matt 20:25-28). But it’s the opposite in this world. Also, in the kingdom of God, it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35), but in the kingdom of this world, it is considered more beneficial to get than to give. If a person thinks he is wise [according to the standards of this world], that wisdom is very useless and cannot take him far in the kingdom of God. If he tries to use that kind of wisdom to advance in the kingdom of God, he will realize that he is making no progress. One of the reasons we must pay attention to the ministry of the word and prayer is because this is the way God recalibrates our minds to the standards of His kingdom so we can grow. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Philippians 1-2 Streamglobe is Nondenominational. Predestined for Good Works 2
Ephesians 2:10 (NET) For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them. After Clement received the Lord Jesus and was baptized in the Holy Ghost, as he continued to live in the spirit, he received the vision for his life and now started to live according to it. As he continued to walk with the Lord and grow, he discovered that even his shameful past was no longer a disadvantage, God fitted it into his plan such that Clement could serve God in peculiar ways that those circumstances of his past had equipped him for. One of the major works of the Holy Spirit in the heart of the believer is to give him a vision and purpose for living. We see in Acts 2:17 that when the Holy Spirit is poured out on all flesh, young men will see visions… The Holy Spirit crystallizes the vision of God concerning us in our hearts. As we begin to see God’s plan for us and understand how God has caused all things to work together for our good(see Romans 8:28), this understanding would help us live purposeful, disciplined, and guided lives. This is the natural out-working of living a vision-driven life. “But where there is no vision, people cast off restraint [and perish]”. See Proverbs 29:18. Even our Lord Jesus Christ was able to fulfill His purpose when he became flesh because He lived a vision, purpose-driven life. He is our perfect example. He endured the cross because of the vision of the joy that was set before Him (a vision of bringing many sons into glory through the power of His throne). Go into today reevaluating the vision of your life and how you’re living to fulfill it. Every Spirit-filled person should live a purpose-driven life. Prayer: Father, help me live a vision propelled, purpose-driven life. Deliver me from all spiritual blindness, in Jesus Name. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Luke 13-14 Streamglobe is Nondenominational. Kindly share this devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. Predestined for Good Works

Ephesians 2:10 (AMPC) For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]. It wasn’t until Clement accepted the Lord Jesus and was filled with the Holy Spirit that he knew his purpose for living, had a vision for life, and was now living a purpose-driven, purpose-filled life. Before this, he only lived for pleasure, and his life was empty and purposeless. In order to satisfy the emptiness of his soul and fulfill his insatiable hunger for pleasure, he was driven into drug addiction. But his mother never stopped praying for him, and his life was transformed when he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ. One of the things the infilling of the Holy Spirit does to the well-taught believer is that it would give him a vision for his life. If you study the Bible properly on the topic of predestination, you would notice that this is usually a discussion reserved for the believer in Christ(see Ephesians 1:4-5, Romans 8:28-30). Most other applications would be contradictory to clear positions of scripture concerning the will of God(1 Timothy 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9, Ezekiel 33:11). God’s predestination does not apply to those who are not yet in His house, His only plan for the sinner is reconciliation and life. From God’s point of view, sinners are dead(Colossians 2:13, Ephesians 2:1, 1 John 3:14, Genesis 2:17). They are not alive, and no one makes plans for people who are dead. Only those recreated in Christ Jesus have the capacity to walk in God’s predefined plans [that are more eternal in expression than time-based]. We see in today’s Bible verse that we who are in Christ have been predestined unto good works. Everything that you would ever become has already been planned for and arranged by God. The more you align with God’s will, the more you will find that you’re walking in the fullness of His good plans for you. Go into remembering that everything about the good life God has for you in Christ Jesus has already been properly planned and fully paid for(2 Peter 1:3). All you need to do is receive it by faith with continual thanksgiving. Prayer: Father, help me walk in faith and thanksgiving. Deliver me from all my fears. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Living As Christ’s Witness

Acts 1:8 (KJV) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Victor gained admission into a university and had to live in a compound off-campus. Unknown to him, this neighborhood was full of vices and dishonorable people. Being so young and well cultured, he could not engage the perpetrators of these vices productively. Some of them were old enough to be his parents. He however lived peaceably among them. When he announced that he was going to be leaving the compound because he had graduated, many parents in the neighborhood brought their children to him and pleaded that he prays for them. A number of them told him that they had named their children Victor because they wanted their children to turn out like him. Victor never had the opportunity to preach to many of these neighbors, his way of life however did. God is seeking witnesses who will influence their sphere for Him, even when the privilege to preach does not present itself. Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines a witness as, ‘‘one that gives evidence; specifically: one who testifies in a cause or before a judicial tribunal”. Your daily living as a child of God should give evidence to the life of Jesus. Your life should be a standard by which an unbeliever can be judged. Jesus is no longer here bodily, yet the world must see Him, else, they will be condemned. If this must happen, they will have to see Him through you. This is why God gave us His Holy Spirit. Go into today knowing that witnessing for Jesus goes beyond what you preach; it is how you live. Prayer: Lord Jesus, give me the grace to live as your witness for you. God’s Kingdom Reward System
1 Corinthians 3:14-15 (NKJV)If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. Some have said that as long as they escape hellfire, they are fine, they do not need any reward. Some have even quoted the psalmist by saying they would rather be a doorkeeper in God’s house than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. They fail to realize that in this, the psalmist was talking about service in God’s house (Doorkeepers are servants) — service for which an eternal reward would be due. Anyone who tries to downplay the reality of service and reward in the kingdom of God does this because he does not understand the kingdom. Many of the times Jesus taught about the kingdom of God, He taught about service and reward in the kingdom (Matt 5:12, Luke 19:11-27, Matt 25:14-30, etc). Somebody once argued that seeing the kingdom of God was the same thing as inheriting the kingdom of God. I simply asked if the word ‘see’ and the word ‘inherit’ meant the same thing. On the day when we believers will stand before the Lord to give an account of our stewardship here on earth, some will receive rewards while some others will suffer loss. Some will sit with the Lord on thrones and rule the universe with Him forever, but others will not have that privilege. They will suffer loss because even though it was their destiny as sons of God to inherit the kingdom of God [as joint-heirs with Christ], their work has disqualified them from their inheritance and thrones. They would be saved but would have lost their inheritance through the fire of judgment. Go into today remembering that how we spend our relatively short time here would determine how we would spend the rest of eternity. Not yet saved? Be Careful How You Build 3
1 Corinthians 3:12-13 (NET) If anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, each builder’s work will be plainly seen, for the Day will make it clear, because it will be revealed by fire. And the fire will test what kind of work each has done. Samuel was discouraged because even though he had a burning desire to serve God, he did not believe he had received any grace to serve God from the pulpit. He tried, but he realized that he did not have the grace to serve in that way. It took him time to realize that even though he did not have a pulpit, he had a platform, and his platform was as important to God as a pulpit. Daniel (in the Bible) never had a pulpit, but he fulfilled God’s assignment for his life through a secular platform. He could do this because he understood that even though he was in the world, he was not of the world. Whatever it is you are doing as a believer, you are building something and you will give an account for it before the Lord on that day. How do we build on the foundation? We build on the foundation by ministering to people according to the grace that has been given to us (see Rom 12:6-9). As believers, we have gifts that differ according to the grace that has been given to us (see Rom 12:6). The way we serve with these gifts determines what we are building with. Go into today remembering that whether you know it or not, your life is building something that will be tried on that day. Prayer: ask the Lord to help you live a life that pleases Him in all respects. Not yet saved? The Rest of God
Hebrews 4:10 (KJV) For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Eno was heartbroken as she spoke with Bose on the phone. “It happened again”, she said “in spite of my best efforts. Why is it so hard to obey God even when one wants to?” she lamented. The sentiments of Eno are one almost every believer can relate with. Chances are that you have either had such a struggle once in your life and walk with God, or you are currently undergoing such yourself. Here is the thing, in the matter of righteousness, desire does not equate ability. What most men have failed to realize is that it takes God’s ability to produce God’s righteousness. This understanding is crucial. Man was never designed to please God independent of God. Sometimes, we try to impress and/or express our gratitude to God for his goodness by trying to please him by our own works, but it just won’t work. The solution is God’s Rest. In God’s Rest, man’s effort to produce righteousness of His own accord is suspended and all his efforts will be directed at trusting the Lord’s wisdom and power for righteousness. In Genesis chapter 2 verse 2 we see the scripture testify that God rested from His work of creation. Nonetheless, every time we plant a grain of corn on the ground, God’s creative power swings into action, and germination and growth occurs. This is because God had earlier placed a law that caused plants to reproduce after their own kind. It is the same reason when a man meets with a woman (under the right biological conditions), the miracle of conception begins. Because God had said, “Be fruitful, multiply” and by so doing set in motion the consistent work/process of procreation. Likewise, when a man enters into God’s rest, God’s power is set into motion in him to produce the righteous works of God that pleases Him (See Philippians 2:12&13AMP). So when Jesus says, “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt 11:28), It is an invitation you want to accept with all your heart, embracing all its realities. Pray like this: I am entering into God’s rest by faith, so I can walk in a manner pleasing unto him producing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. —Ikechukwu Mpama Bible in 1 Year: Leviticus 4-6 Streamglobe is Nondenominational.
