James 1:4 (ERV)
If you let that patience work in you, the end result will be good. You will be mature and complete. You will be all that God wants you to be.
While learning carpentry, John felt that his teacher who also was his father didn’t want him to succeed because while other pupils worked, his father asked him to just watch him.
Years later when he was now a celebrated and accomplished craftsman, he realized that he was able to surpass his peers not because he had better skills but because by observing his father work through difficulties to eventually create masterpieces, he had also developed that same virtue that persisted where others gave up.
There is something about being patient that endears one to God. Patience is one of the fruits of the Spirit (Gal 5:22) and if we desire to see God’s will for our lives fulfilled, we will surely need it (Heb 10:36).
Jesus stressed this need in His parable (Lk 8:15) as a requirement for success because there will be many who feel that they are good soils having all the abilities, and will hastily rush into doing things but in the end fail at some point, due to them lacking this virtue.
Waiting on God requires that we actively work on all our spiritual gifts over a period of time, to ensure that through them, we gain maturity and are able to withstand life’s trials.
Go into today with all perseverance, growing and developing your spiritual gifts, as this will lead to you achieving success in life.
