1 Corinthians 8:2 (NET)
If someone thinks he knows something, he does not yet know to the degree that he needs to know.
I remember many years ago when I felt I knew something because I had read the Bible from cover to cover and had a few revelations here and there. But the truth was that I really didn’t know as needed to know.
Today, I look back and see how devoid of knowledge and understanding I was back then. I knew so little, but I felt I knew something. After learning much more and growing, I now know that there is still so much to learn. One of my biggest and most sincere prayers today is ‘Lord, help me know you more’.
I know of believers who do not read books and would never be caught reading a daily devotional because they believe they know God more than to read what others have to say about Him. Such a mindset is simply an indication that they do not know God to the degree they need to know Him. For every season of your life, there is a degree of the knowledge of God that is required. This knowledge corresponds to your spiritual strength.
Go into today knowing that if you believe you know all that you need to know, it is a sign that you do not know to the degree that you need to know. That is a dangerous place to be.
Prayer: ask the Lord to deliver you from all pride and help you continually grow in your knowledge of Him.
