Fulfilling God’s expectations
Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV) Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. When I was in secondary school, there were those who believed they knew mathematics so much that there was nothing more to learn. They felt quite arrogant because they believed there was no mathematical problem they couldn’t solve. But their arrogance was because of their limited exposure to real mathematics in secondary school. But as many of them went to the university and started doing real mathematics, they became humble and realized that the higher they went in studying mathematics, the narrower their scope in mathematics became because that field of study is so wide at the advanced level that, for example, it is impossible to do a Ph.D. in all aspects at the same time. As soon as a believer begins to think he has arrived and does not need to learn and grow again, that believer can be sure he will soon be called home or backside terribly. If anyone thinks he knows enough, it is a sign that he doesn’t know as much as he needs to know (1 Corinthians 8:2). If apostle Paul were comparing himself with other Christians around him, he might have been feeling accomplished, but he understood that there was a prize for the high calling in God, and attaining it was his goal. Do you know that God has expectations of you in this season of your life? Let your goal be that you meet these expectations. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me know your expectations of me in this season and help me fulfill them. Amen. — Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible In 1 Year: Acts 9-10 Streamglobe is nondenominational. Impending Judgment
Acts 24:25 (NET)While Paul was discussing righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment, Felix became frightened and said, “Go away for now, and when I have an opportunity, I will send for you.” When Lamar accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, he didn’t accept Christ because someone told him that that was a ticket to a better life (that gospel could never appeal to Lamar because he was born into great wealth), he believed in Christ because he now realized that Christ was the only one who could shield him from the judgment that was sure to come. He had several disturbing dreams before a preacher brought the gospel to him, and in those dreams, he saw himself descending into hell fire. He knew he was doomed but didn’t know the way out until the gospel came to him. Today, there is a conscious effort by some to remove the warning about the judgment of God from the preaching of the gospel. Any gospel message that does not properly explain the ramification of Jesus’ salvation from impending judgment is a weak gospel. One main point of the gospel message is that receiving Jesus is the only way to escape the impending damnation (see John 3:18). From today’s Bible verse, we can clearly see that one element of the gospel message preached by the apostles was “The Judgment of God”. When in the days of the apostles, people they preached to asked ‘what shall we do [to be saved]?’(see Acts 2:37, 16:30) they asked this question because they understood that there is impending judgment and doom, and they wanted to be saved from it. Go into today remembering that there is coming judgment on all humankind. The only way to escape it is through the salvation of Christ Jesus. Prayer: Ask the Lord to make you more effective in helping people escape eternal damnation by preaching the gospel to them. — Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible In 1 Year: Habakkuk Streamglobe is nondenominational. The Fruit of the Spirit
Galatians 5:22-24 (NET) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Even though Evans had accepted the Lord Jesus and was being discipled in the Church, because he was truthful to himself, he knew that his life was not producing the fruit of the spirit. This bothered him greatly because he understood that the presence of the fruit of the spirit was a demonstration of spiritual growth and maturity. It took him some time of soul searching with God’s word for him to find out that he was not manifesting the fruit of the spirit because he had not crucified the flesh and its passions. For example, he loved movies so much that he would regularly miss his personal prayer time because of them. His excessive love for movies was a passion of the flesh that he needed to tame. A believer who has not crucified the flesh and its passions cannot bring forth the fruit of the spirit. What God is doing in us believers is that He is conforming us to the image and the nature of Christ (see Romans 8:29). We were all born into this world with the Adamic nature which is sinful, but we must deny that nature and walk in the divine nature we have received through the Holy Spirit. Those who continue to walk in the Adamic sinful nature cannot please God, nor will they be able to inherit their thrones in God’s kingdom. Go into today remembering that after believing in the Lord Jesus, denying the flesh (and its passions) is necessary if your life will bring forth the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit in any life is proof that that person has received the nature of Christ. When God evaluates us for promotion, he looks out for fruits. — Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible: Psalms 122-124 (In Today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. The kingdom prepared for you
Ephesians 5:5 (NET) For you can be confident of this one thing: that no person who is immoral, impure, or greedy (such a person is an idolater) has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Dr. Dimitri owned and controlled the most important company in his country. This company was the highest employer of labor in the small island state Dr. Dimitri was so proud to be from. He was getting old and wanted to retire. He wanted to hand over the company to someone with his nature and wisdom. If the company ended up in the wrong hands, too many families would be distressed because there would be staff layoffs. Because Dimitri understood that running that company properly was a trust from God, he was more concerned about handing over the company to a competent hand than to his biological child. Thankfully, his second son was as talented as they came. If his son did not demonstrate competence, Dimitri would not have handed over the company to him. The biggest problem of the natural (sinful) man is that we do not have the nature of God and thus cannot inherit his kingdom that was prepared for us from the foundation of the world. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17). The old nature of sin must be replaced with the new nature of Christ. You must die to your old life and habits and let the life of Christ spring out through you. This is the only way you would have the nature that can inherit God’s kingdom. Go into today remembering that the old sinful nature of adam(flesh) cannot inherit the kingdom of God. it is only those who have the nature and Character of Christ that will inherit his kingdom. Do not just be satisfied with missing hell, your destiny is to rule and reign in God’s eternal kingdom. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me to walk worthy of my calling in you. Amen. — Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible: Ecclesiastes 1-2 Streamglobe is nondenominational. Kindly share this Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. Forgiveness of sins
1 John 1:8-9 (NET) If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness. Against his father’s instruction, Segun took his father’s special car and drove it to school when his father was out of town. Unfortunately, Segun had an auto crash and broke the front light of his father’s Bugatti Divo. He tried to get it fixed with his savings but his savings were not sufficient. He had to take the car back home in shame, awaiting his father’s rebuke. When his father returned and saw the car, he was displeased but not surprised. He knew of all the times Segun had been sneaking the car out without his consent because his car had an app on his phone that informed him of the car’s every move. “Segun! you are grounded. No more video games, you’re only allowed to go to school and back, no more allowances, no smartphone, no visits to friends or the mall, etc. What pained Segun the most about him being grounded was that his dad no longer had conversations with him, and they no longer went to play golf together. Segun was so unhappy that his friends knew something was wrong. After one month of being grounded, Segun couldn’t take it anymore. He went to his dad and apologized for what he had done. This time he meant it, and he now realized that what his father really wanted him to repent of and stop doing was deceit and disobedience. “You could have been killed by that truck. You don’t have the required skills to drive that car”, his father said. Segun’s dad was more than happy to forgive him. He was praying Segun would repent and apologize so their relationship would be restored. Even though Segun’s dad wanted a restored relationship and friendship with his son, that could not happen until Segun acknowledged what he had done and repented. As a member of God’s Holy family, there are things you may be doing that are the reason you are not enjoying communion and friendship with God and the attendant benefits. The light of God’s word is what reveals these things to us, and as we acknowledge them and repent of them, we are forgiven and cleansed from all unrighteousness. Our communion with God is restored and we are able to partake of the benefits of being close to God. Go into today remembering that without repentance there is no remission of sin or forgiveness of sins. Sin is the nature that makes it impossible for us to fellowship with God. Sins are the spots and wrinkles that we may still have, even though we have received the divine nature. — Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible: II Chronicles 25-28 (In Today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. The Need for Discipleship 2
Click here to Get Today’s Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud2362 John 21:15 (KJV) So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. After Larry submitted himself to discipleship, he was now accountable to his discipler who prayerfully monitored his spiritual progress. The first day his discipler visited him in his house, he saw that Lary’s room was decorated with pictures of indecently dressed female pop stars. He also observed that most of Larry’s music was not spiritually edifying at all. Larry’s discipler took time to explain to him that the environment he created around himself was very important, and the pictures he had on his wall were not appropriate for a spirit-filled child of God. Even though some of those autographed pictures cost Larry a lot of money to acquire, he willingly removed them and destroyed them. He also got rid of all his music that was not spiritually edifying. His discipler spent some time in his house that day. They ate together, studied the word of God together, and took some time to pray. Larry had many questions and many assumptions that were wrong, but his discipler answered his questions and corrected his wrong assumptions. Larry and his discipler continued to meet regularly, talk on the phone, and pray together. Larry observed that because of his interaction with his discipler, he became much stronger spiritually. With time, Larry too became a soul winner and discipler. Discipleship is the way by which more mature believers feed the Lord’s lambs (newborn believers). Those who truly love the Lord would be involved in this ministry (see John 21:15,17). Many have fallen away not because they did not truly believe but because they were not discipled by anyone. Go into today asking the Lord to help you play your part in the end-time harvest. — Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible: Deuteronomy 4-6 Streamglobe is nondenominational. The Danger of Disobeying God Willfully
Psalms 68:6 (NLT) “God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. But for rebels, there is only famine and distress.” Jay was just a little child when God began to speak to him about his future. This made him a very happy child. But as he grew and began to have wishes, he began to wish for things that were not captured in what God had shown him and he eventually veered off God’s plans, chasing after his own wishes. After several failed attempts at becoming his dream man, he returned to God seeking pardon and restoration. Yes, God pardoned him but he had suffered multiple disappointments, pains, and failures. There is hope for the lonely because God can make them a home. There is also hope for the imprisoned because God can set them free, but there is no hope for the rebellious, there is nothing for them in God. To be rebellious is to willfully turn away from God and/or His commandments. This sin was equated to witchcraft and the judgment for witchcraft was death. “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king” 1 Samuel 15:23 KJV. “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live” Exodus 22:18 KJV. There is nothing good in knowing what God wants and refusing to do it, the least severe of its consequences are famine and distress. The decision is yours to make! Go into today knowing that God’s commandments are for your good. Make up your mind to obey them. Prayer: ask for God’s forgiveness for your past disobedience and rebellions. Ask God to restore you. — Dr. Emmanuel James Bible In One Year: James 1-3 Streamglobe is nondenominational. Kindly share this Devotional with your contacts and let’s touch lives together. The Need For Discipleship
Matthew 28:19 (NET)Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit After Larry accepted Christ, he realized that he no longer had the desire to be a sinner. But as time passed, he saw that his desire was not strong enough to keep him from his old sinful habits. Each time he fell, he felt uneasy inside because he knew he was not acting in accordance with his new nature. He knew he had received a new nature inside, but he wanted to know how to let this new nature dominate him and no more the old nature. After discussing his challenges with the person that led him to Christ, it became clear to him that he needed to submit himself to discipleship. Discipleship is God’s educational system for training believers to walk in their new nature through the renewal of their minds by the word(see Rom 12:2). Spiritually mature believers are those who are no more carnal (dominated by the flesh) but are now dominated by the spirit. These are the believers whose lives are now dominated by the kingdom of God and who are striving for their reward in the kingdom. One very important aspect of discipleship is the ministry of the word and prayer. You cannot disciple people without regularly interceding for them and teaching them the word of God; explaining the mysteries of the kingdom of God to them. Without proper discipleship, new believers will remain spiritual babies and may not abide in the Lord. Go into today determined to submit yourself to proper discipleship if you are still controlled by your old nature of sin as a believer. If you are a discipler, ask the Lord to multiply your grace for this. — Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible In One Year: Acts 7-8 Streamglobe is nondenominational. Trust God 4
Isaiah 26:3 (NET) You keep completely safe the people who maintain their faith, for they trust in you. When Sylvia wanted to travel overseas for the first time, she heard that there was a new virus in Wuhan China called coronavirus. Because she was a medical personnel, she understood how these viruses spread and knew that the virus was most certainly already spreading in the city she was traveling to. After she got to the city, a lockdown was declared and she was stuck in that city for several months. That city eventually became the worst hit city by the virus now popularly called covid 19. Millions of people died in that city, including many in her profession. Many of the medical personnel in the medical institution she was training in contracted the virus and died. Sylvia was never afraid of dying from the virus because before she left for the training that took her to that city, she sought the Lord and got His consent. Because she trusted the Lord, she knew He wouldn’t give her consent to go on a journey in which she would meet an untimely death. Even though Sylvia worked with so many medical personnel who contracted the virus and died, she was kept completely safe from the virus because she trusted in the Lord. For some reason, Sylvia understood that if she allowed her faith to waver and join the rest of her colleagues in their fear and self-pity, she would expose herself spiritually and contract the virus. All she knew was that the Lord had spoken to her and she was not going to doubt His promises. This was the basis of her faith that became contagious and led to the recovery of her sister who got the virus but was miraculously healed when Sylvia prayed for her. Go into today remembering that trusting completely in the Lord is the secret to enjoying God’s unparalleled protection and grace. Trust God 3
Psalms 125:1 (KJV) They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. The witches in Dare’s community had concluded that they were going to destroy him completely. They had hatched a wicked plan that they believed could not fail. They first wanted to destroy his business, collapse his faith through the trials of his business, then cause him to fall into immorality, and then destroy his marriage. Dare didn’t know anything about these plans, but what he had going for him was that he truly trusted in the Lord. When the storm started and his business was experiencing real turbulence, he went to the Lord in prayer, and he received a word from the Lord that all would be well. This assurance made him unmovable and his faith did not fail despite the trials. Because his faith did not fail as the witches had planned, all the other components of their plan failed. After a few months, his business was restored and even bigger. His marriage was stronger and not weaker because at that time his business was facing challenges, his wife supported him so much that he now trusted and loved her so much more. Dare’s secret was that he trusted in the Lord, so when the trials could have shaken him so much that his faith would fail, he was unmovable and even became stronger. Do you trust in the Lord? Is God’s word concerning a situation that is troubling you enough? Or do you still need “assurances”? Go into today remembering that the way to build your trust in the Lord is to allow the word of God to be the final authority in your life. Determine to be a person of truth in all you do. This is the easiest way to reprogram your heart to trust God. — Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible: Proverbs 31 Streamglobe is nondenominational.
