Wait Until the Lord Comes
1 Corinthians 4:5 (NET) So then, do not judge anything before the time. Wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the motives of hearts. Then each will receive recognition from God. Chinonye received the Lord Jesus when she was a teenager and had grown to know the Lord. Because of this, she responded differently to situations she came across in life. Her colleagues in the office wondered why she was so calm and collected and so easily willing to forgive wicked offenders and overlook the most grievous trespasses against her. She tried to explain to them that even though people may escape human judgment on this earth, no one was going to escape God’s judgment on the Day of Judgment. Because of this understanding, she didn’t try to revenge because she knew God was going to judge. Eternal judgment didn’t look like a time too long to wait for her because she knew she had eternal life and now had the proper perspective of time. We can see from scripture that there are times that the spirit of judgment could come upon believers, as willed by the Lord, and they would proclaim judgment against the Lord’s enemies (see Acts 13:11). But it has to be a result of the Lord’s leading, not a result of the fleshly desire to get vengeance. Sometimes, because they wanted their vengeance instantly, believers have used their spiritual power to destroy people that would have later been a blessing to them and to the world. There probably would be no ‘Apostle Paul’ if Stephen had used his authority to pray down judgment on those responsible for his execution (see Acts 7:58-60). Go into today meditating on this: Romans 12:19 (NIV): Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. Prayer: Lord, help me to live with eternity in view and live before you accurately. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Colossians 1-2 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Quench Not The Spirit
1 Thessalonians 5:19 (KJV), “Quench not the Spirit”. Oh! I understand now! Exclaimed Cole after he heard a preacher preach on today’s topic. Cole struggled with a sinful habit. He knew the habit was evil and wanted to quit, but for many years, freedom seemed impossible and this was because he had been quenching (neglecting) the Spirit. He’d had experiences of waking up from his sleep with songs, scriptural verses, and instructions impressed upon his spirit. This happened more whenever he engaged in serious spiritual activities like praying, fasting, studying the word of God, etc, but he never paid attention to them. It was after he listened to the said message that he began to pay attention to the impressions of God on his spirit, and suddenly, he got his freedom. Whenever he woke up with a song, for instance, he sang it throughout the day and even for weeks, then he searched for scriptures that were projected in the song and prayed with them. Just like it happened with Cole, the only way to redeem your day and lead a victorious life is by daily obeying the instruction, “quench not the Spirit”. Because God knows all things, he prepares us for what the day holds(good or bad) by giving us a dream, impressing a song or a verse of the scripture upon our hearts, and by certain other feelings or sensations like uneasiness, loss of peace, discomfort, etc. But if we neglect these promptings, we can become victims of the day’s evil. Go into today knowing that if you will always yield to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, you will always be victorious. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: Ezekiel 19-24 (In Devotional Audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Not Worthy To Be Compared
Romans 8:18 (KJV) For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. If you think about who God is and all His has, it is simply too much for our 1.5kg brain to fully comprehend. Yet, we will inherit all that belongs to God as heirs of God through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:7, Revelation 21:7). What we know is that we shall be as He is because we shall see Him face to face(1 John 3:2). We shall rule and reign with Him and even judge the angels(see 1 Corinthians 6:3). We shall inherit all things (Revelation 21:7). Even though we know that it is those who live for Christ and [are willing to] suffer for Him that would be counted worthy to reign with Him in glory, it is foolishness to think that our suffering for Him is able to earn us our eternal glory. The sufferings of this present time cannot be compared to the glory. If we suffered for Christ to the point of death in one billion lifetimes, it still wouldn’t be sufficient to earn the glory that we would receive. God is not interested in our suffering, He is interested in our faithfulness. It is just that being faithful to Him would require denial of the flesh and may incur persecution from those still controlled by the Prince of this present world who is an enemy of Christ. As you are reading this Devotional today, many of our brethren in Pakistan, parts of India, and the Middle East are experiencing great persecution because of their faith in Christ. Many in the middle east are even denied passports so they cannot get visas to flee their countries where they are being persecuted for their faith. Even in certain parts of northern Nigeria today, believers who are qualified for promotion in public service are denied a promotion because they are believers. Qualified students are denied admission into government-owned subsidized tertiary institutions because they have Christian names, and many have been killed because of their Christian faith. We can go on and on, but the point is this: those who would not deny the faith because of worldly pressures are proving that they are faithful in the little, and much more would be given to them (Luke 16:10-12). They would rule and reign with the Lord in the eternal kingdom that is coming to sweep away every other kingdom on this earth. Go into today asking the Lord for the grace to be faithful to Him in the face of pressure. Prayer: Dear Lord, please help to be faithful to you until the end. Please help me to not miss my eternal reward but reign with you in glory on that day. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Proverbs 8-9 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Being His Witness Requires Power
Acts 1:8 (KJV) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Ray could not keep silent, he spoke to all his friends and everyone around him about his new life in Christ. He used to be addicted to drugs, gambling, and sexual immorality. His family had given up on him after sending him several times to rehab. His weaknesses and addictions were now overpowered by this new power he encountered. Ray had received Jesus into his life after attending a crusade. He went on to be baptized in water and in the Holy Spirit. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that delivered him and moved him to speak to others about Jesus. But after some time, Ray observed that his zeal had started to wane. This got him really bordered. Wanting to know why this was happening, he chose to pray for hours in tongues consistently for many days. After continuing in this discipline for several days, he observed that his zeal was restored. He also observed that he could now manifest some spiritual gifts. After this experience, Ray understood that it takes power to live the life of a witness unto Christ. He also now knew that one way to access this power of the Holy Ghost is by giving one’s self to lengthy and consistent prayer in the spirit(in tongues). Many believers no longer have exciting personal moments with the Lord. Their most exciting moment was at the point of receiving Christ or when they got baptized in the Holy Ghost. So after many years pass, they find that they have not been able to be effective witnesses; they now only derive their sense of fulfillment from activities. They are seen as active in Church but their lives are a contradiction of what they profess when you get closer to them. Because of this, their wives/children, friends, and associates are rebellious and indifferent toward the Lord. If this describes you, what you need is the power of the Holy Ghost. It is by His strength that you are empowered to live a consecrated and powerful life (Philippians 2:13). If you have never been baptized in the Holy Ghost, ask for it. And if you have been baptized, ask God to fill you again (Acts 4:31). Go into today remembering that it takes power to be an effective witness unto Christ. The way to appropriate this power is by praying consistently in the spirit (tongues) (Jude 1:20). Prayer: Ask the Lord to quicken you to pray as you ought to pray. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: Psalms 78-80 (In Devotional Audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Walking In the Call
1 Corinthians 4:9 (NET) For, I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as men condemned to die, because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to people. When Collins started becoming interested in serving the Lord, naturally, he wanted to be at the peak of this service. After being in church for a while, he observed that many considered the office of the apostle to be the highest in the body of Christ. Because of this, he wanted also to be an apostle. Because he was really committed and dedicated to the work in his local church, he was soon ordained as a minister. But still, he wanted to be called an apostle. One morning, he was studying the word of God when he came across today’s Bible verse. He read it again and again, and this really scared him. From that moment, he started changing his mind concerning his dream to someday become an apostle. Whether a person is an apostle, a prophet, an evangelist, or a pastor and teacher, is not really his decision to make. These things are determined by God from before the person is born (see Gal 1:15, Jer 1:5). But whether a person ends up walking in God’s call for his life is dependent on how he responds to God during the days of his sojourning here on earth. Many indeed are called, but few are chosen. The difference between the chosen and the rest is faithfulness (Rev 17:14). God doesn’t entrust much to the unfaithful (see Luke 16:10). I do not believe that everyone who has the call to be an apostle must necessarily die for the faith (Apostle John didn’t die the death of a martyr), but I believe that everyone who must effectively walk in his call must have the mindset of an apostle. One that is willing to give up his life (if need be) for the sake of the gospel (see Luke 14:26, Rev 12:11). Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you fulfill His call for your Life. This is the most important thing in life. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: II Kings 1-5 (In Devotional Audio) Streamglobe Conference Continues Today Follow the live stream: Morning session: 9:30am(WAT) | Evening session 4pm(WAT) Audio Livestream link☞ https://streamglobe.radio Video Livestream link☞ https://youtube.com/c/streamglobe https://listen.streamglobe.org/Devotional%20Audio%203386.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | Download ()Subscribe: RSS
When the Gospel Began
Luke 16:16 [NET] “The law and the prophets were in force until John; since then, the good news of the kingdom of God has been proclaimed, and everyone is urged to enter it. The primary reason the religious leaders and Pharisees crucified Jesus was that He said he was the Son of God. They understood that this claim meant He was saying He was God and Lord (see John 5:18). They killed him because they believed He blasphemed and was deserving of death. But as proof that Jesus didn’t tell a lie, God raised him up on the third day. Therefore the resurrection of Jesus was proof that He was indeed the Son of God, and this became the major linchpin of the gospel message (see Rom 10:9). But note that the gospel message was preached by Jesus and His disciples before Jesus died and resurrected (see Matthew 4:23; 9:35; Luke 4:43; Luke 8:1). Remember that Jesus sent the twelve and the seventy to preach the gospel at different times, and He Himself went around preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom. Some have argued that the good news of the kingdom only arrived after Jesus was resurrected, but today’s Bible verse shows that they are wrong. Why is it important to know this? Because Christians must understand that the teachings of Christ are the foundation and pillar of Christian doctrine. They are not to be discarded as Old Testament texts not meant for Christians. When Jesus commissioned His apostles to go into the world and make disciples of nations, he instructed them to teach the new disciples to obey everything He had commanded them (see Mat 28:20). Go into today knowing that if what the Lord taught does not appear to align with your understanding of the gospel message, your understanding is wrong. —Abraham Dami Arigi Yearly Plan: Leviticus 10-12 (In Devotional Audio) Streamglobe Conference Continues Today Follow the live stream: Morning session: 9:30am(WAT) | Evening session 4pm(WAT) Audio Livestream link☞ https://streamglobe.radio Video Livestream link☞ https://youtube.com/c/streamglobe https://listen.streamglobe.org/Devotional%20Audio%203385.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | Download ()Subscribe: RSS
Overcoming Guilt – A Fruit of Love
Hebrews 10:22-23 (NIV) let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. What a guilty conscience takes away from you is boldness and assurance. When a person has a guilty conscience, he cannot deal with God in boldness. And this will greatly hinder the flow of God’s grace in his life. We have seen previously that one way to overcome a guilty conscience is by convincing your conscience (that you are a child of God) in God’s presence. 1 John 3:18-20 [NET] says: Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth. 19 And by this we will know that we are of the truth and will convince our conscience in his presence. We have previously seen that the way to convince your conscience is by recognizing the fruit of God’s seed in your heart, which manifests in acts of love that your life has been able to produce. This is worthy of note because it is only those who have been fathered by God that can produce such love that does not have a selfish motive (see 1 John 4:7). If the devil has been trying to deceive you to think you are not truly born of God, and because of this, your conscience has been condemning you in God’s presence, the way to overcome this is by using your practical fruits of love as proof that you have been indeed fathered by God. This is why for us Christians, Love is a commandment we must obey. This commandment is not grievous but is for our spiritual benefit. As you go into today, remember that those who walk in the Light (by walking in love) are the ones who will receive cleansing by the blood of Jesus (see 1 John 1:7). Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you walk in practical love. Abba, Father!
Romans 8:15 (KJV) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Many of the children in the neighborhood called Mr. Akande their father because Mr. Akande was truly a father to many of them who had lost their dads in the war. He provided for them and paid their bills even though they were not his biological children. But Mr. Akande and his biological children were really close. When every other child would say Mr. AKande is our father, Henry his son would say Mr. Akande is my dad. Mr. Akande didn’t necessarily know the voice of all his “children” in the neighborhood, but he knew the voice of his son and would respond quickly if he heard that voice. ‘Abba’ is one of the first words a Jewish child utters. It is very much like the word ‘Dadda’ English-speaking families hear their children say as the first words when the child tries to say ‘daddy’. Before Jesus, no Jew dared to call God Abba. It was too personal a term with which to refer to Almighty God. But Jesus was the first to call God ‘Abba’ because God was His dad (see Mark14:36). Today, through faith in Him, and by the indwelling Holy Spirit, we have that kind of personal relationship with God such that we can call Him Abba or daddy. Those who are led by the Spirit are those who walk in this realm of relationship with their heavenly father. The discussion of today’s verse started in Romans 8:1 and down to verse 13, we see that the topic of discussion was walking in the Spirit as opposed to walking in the flesh. We see that those who have the Spirit of God dwelling in them (not just a one-time filling) are those who walk in the Spirit(see Romans 8:9). And now we are seeing that it is those same people(who walk in the Spirit) that have this personal relationship with God as Abba Father. Go into today remembering that because of the indwelling Holy Spirit, God is your Dad and the relationship you have with God is the most intimate that there is. Prayer: Holy Father, please fill me with Your Spirit and help me walk in the Spirit and stay filled so that I can walk in the reality of sonship. —Abraham Dami Arigi Bible in 1 Year: Luke 15-16 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. How God Sees Partial Obedience
Isaiah 1:19-20 (KJV), “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land. But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it”. In 1 Samuel 15:3, God said to Saul, “now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass”. In response to God, he gathered his armies, went against the Amalekites, and conquered them because God went with him. It was after he’d conquered and returned that God sent prophet Samuel to him, while the people were rejoicing and celebrating the victory; it was a huge conquest. But God had a score to settle with Saul, so he sent his servant to him. At Samuel’s appearance, Saul greeted saying, “blessed be thou of the Lord: I have performed the commandment of the Lord” (1 Samuel 15:13. KJV)) but Samuel responded, “what meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?” 1 Samuel 15:14 (KJV) As far as Saul was concerned, he had obeyed God completely and deserved a well-done from God or at least from the man God, but what he got was a rebuke, a very harsh one; God had rejected him. What did he do wrong? He’d obeyed God partially and disobeyed him a bit; he’d killed all the people except their king and killed all the animals except the goodly ones which he considered good for sacrifice. God’s instruction however was, “utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass”. Aren’t you like Saul? Have you obeyed all that God commanded or have you chosen to obey some while disobeying others? If you have not been judged yet, it is because God is extending mercy to you. What will you do with God’s mercy? Go into today knowing that partial obedience is tantamount to disobedience and rebellion in God’s sight. Prayer: ask the Lord to forgive your past disobediences and ask for grace to obey him wholely henceforth. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible in 1 Year: Proverbs 7 (in today’s audio) Streamglobe is Interdenominational and nondenominational. Led By The Spirit
Romans 8:14 (NET) For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. Demian cried: “but I’m a child of God, how could this be happening to me Lord?” immediately he got a response in his spirit that said: “if you had allowed the Spirit of God to lead you, this wouldn’t have happened”. Many believers do not walk in the reality of their sonship in God because they are not led by the Spirit of God. A man whose choices and decisions in life are determined by what other people will say and how he would be perceived by the world cannot say he is being led by the Spirit of God. A believer is either led by the Spirit or by the flesh. A person led by the flesh would find that he is ultimately led by the god of this world. He would find that he does things to satisfy his greed, lust, or pride. A man led by the Spirit of God would find that the only person he wants to please is God. He would rather be displeased and God pleased. Having a daily discipline of exposure to the ministry of the word and prayer would help sharpen your discernment of the Spirit’s leading, especially in complicated situations. Knowledge of God’s Word would help you know the ways the Holy Spirit leads and ways he would never lead you. We can be sure of this: the Holy Spirit would never lead you to commit sin. The Holy Spirit would never lead you to disobey the written word and counsel of God. We can also be surer of this: the devil [and the flesh] would never lead you to pray. The devil would never lead you to love your enemies. Go into today remembering that those who are led by the Spirit are those who walk in the reality of their sonship in God. They are not just those who can perceive the Spirit’s leading, they are those who follow the Spirit’s leading. Prayer: Lord Jesus. please help me live a life that is led by your Spirit.
