Sanctification 2
1 Thessalonians 5:23 (ESV) Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sharon would say, “It is my flesh that committed that sin, my spirit is holy and cannot sin”. Even though this sounds ludicrous, Sharon was correct to an extent, but she was fundamentally very wrong because man is not judged for what his spirit did or what his flesh did, man is judged for what he did. Whether it was your flesh that committed the sin or it was your spirit, you committed the sin. A sin like hatred is never really committed by the flesh, but by the spirit. It is a defilement of the spirit that ultimately leads to the defilement of the flesh when blood is in the hand of the hater because of murder. That is the same with the sin of malice that leads to hatred, and can ultimately lead to murder. It is very important to note that God does not look at the body, but at the heart when he is dealing with man. Every uncleanliness that is manifested in the flesh is because the seed was left to grow in the heart. Immorality is a very good example. No one just falls into immorality without the seed of lust allowed to grow in his heart. The old covenant saints only knew how to sanctify the body, their spirits were as unclean as they could be, that was why it was possible for them to hate and kill Jesus. Go into today remembering that the Lord has done what you could never do. He has sanctified your spirit and this is the reason you can fellowship with the father and receive grace for the sanctification of the soul and the body. Prayer: Thank you Lord for sanctifying me. Help me walk accordingly in Jesus’ name. Amen. Not born again? Click here ☞ www.streamglobe.org/33 —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible Plan: Genesis 28-31 Streamglobe is nondenominational. Set Apart For Holy Use
John 17:17 (AMP) Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the truth. Your Word is Truth. Jide had always wanted to do great things for God. He remembers the day he was saved as though it were yesterday. So great was his gratitude to God that he vowed to spend his days serving God, reaching the nations and drawing millions to Christ. However, some years down the line and it looked as though nothing were happening. Instead of the big call to do great things for God, he had instead been stuck in a rot. He was getting a bit disillusioned and was beginning to wonder if perhaps God was even willing to use him. Jesus praying for His disciples shortly before his death prayed the Father to not take away the disciples from the world but rather to sanctify them with the truth. The idea of sanctification connotes being set apart for holy use. Where ‘holy use’ does not primarily refer to the usage but rather to the User–God. As far as the believer is garbed in this jar of clay, he remains God’s worker waiting to be posted to any assignment of God’s choosing. However, God will use those who have made themselves available for His use and are usable. The day you got born again, you got initiated into God’s workforce, however, you need to report to duty and be given the proper training, tools, and work plan for the work. God’s word, accompanied with prayer, is God’s instrument for beating the believer into shape for duty. As you abide in the word and give yourself to it, the word will work on you by the Spirit of Truth to become available and usable. The truth of God’s word sets you apart for holy use. You will begin to think His thoughts, you get plugged into His frequency and you will find your place in his team and your name on his roster. Jide began to actively seek the Lord in prayer and meditation on His word, all the while jettisoning his grandiose plans of ministry. He found God’s plan for his life begin to unfold before his eyes. And step after step of faith and obedience, he walked deeper and farther into God’s divine call for his life. Remember, if you allow the world, it will beat you into its own mold. But if you allow the word, it will transform you so you can do the good, perfect and acceptable will of God. Go for the word. Prayer: Lord, sanctify me and me usable for your good purpose. Amen. Sanctification
1 Thessalonians 4:3 (ESV) For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality. Benji had accepted Christ, but he needed to be sanctified unto the Lord if he was going to go the distance with the Lord. Because he was not sanctified, nor was he ready for this, it seemed impossible for him to even receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. When some believe, they lay everything on the altar. They want to go the distance with the Lord and are willing to leave all and follow the Lord. The Lord sees their willingness and baptizes them [in the Holy Spirit] to empower them to do what they now have the will to do, but have no power of their own to do. However, there are many others that even though they believe in the Lord Jesus, they are not willing to go the distance with the Lord yet. They still carry some weights that they are not willing to drop. It would be difficult for such to even receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is too big to share you with another. There is nothing that hinders sanctification like sexual immorality. Anyone still desiring to continue in immorality cannot go the distance with the Lord. And he may wonder why the Holy Spirit does not respond to him accordingly. Sanctification means that you have decided to surrender everything that is contrary to the will of Christ your Lord. These include unholy relationships and friendships, habits, desires, worldly ambitions affections, etc. When the will is there, the Holy Spirit comes to empower you. Go into today remembering that you cannot walk in the fullness of your divine destiny without sanctification. Ask the Lord to sanctify you through and through (see 1 Thes 5:23). Not born again? Honor Your Father and Mother
Join Streamglobe Word Encounter Audio LiveStream Today by 11AM GMT +1 here: www.facebook.com/streamglobe Ephesians 6:2-3 (KJV) ‘‘Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise). That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.’’ The following conversation ensued between Ayo and her friend Joy: Ayo: My network is bad, please can I borrow your wifi? Joy: What do you need the internet for so urgently? Ayo: I need to send some money to my parents Joy; Oh, Okay O. Ayo: Hope you’ll send something to your Mum too? Joy: No, I won’t. She’s not born again and I don’t want to be involved with her. Ayo: Ah! She’s your mother! Remember she’s a widow and you’re her only child. Joy: So? see, I don’t know what she’ll do with the money, she often visits witch doctors. Ayo: You can call her at least and send her some foodstuff and groceries. Joy: I can’t Ayo, don’t you get it? I’m in the light and she’s in darkness, we don’t have anything in common. Ayo tried to convince Joy but couldn’t. Even when she told Joy that honoring her mother is a command from God, joy would not budge. Joy was a regular victim of demonic attacks because her life was ruled by fear and not by God’s word. A true believer who walks in the light[of God’s word cannot walk in any bondage. Just like Joy, so many are violating the Lord’s commandment today and wouldn’t take care of their parents. They do this claiming that darkness and light have nothing in common. Note however that the Scripture didn’t say “obey your unbelieving parents, instead, it says, “honor [them]”. One of the ways to communicate honor is by giving your substance (Proverbs 3:9). Even when your parents are rich and do not need you to take care of them, it is still required that you honor them (give them a regular honorarium) because they are your parents. Go into today knowing that if you don’t honor your parents, you’re disobeying God (Leviticus 19:21). Read Exodus 20:12. Obeying this commandment of God comes with a promise of blessings(see Ephesians 6:2-3). Prayer: Ask God to forgive you if you have not honored your parents in the past. Make amends and begin to walk in the light of God’s word and glory. Not yet saved? Living for Pleasure

1 Timothy 5:5-6 (NET) But the one who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives. Shehu did not abide but went back to the world because he was lured by fleshly pleasures. Before he accepted the Lord Jesus, he was addicted to drugs and other dirty habits that gave pleasure to the flesh. After he believed, he left those habits, but later went back to them because he wasn’t properly discipled and didn’t know how to create the atmosphere of grace around him that would suffocate the spirits of lust– his best friends were still unbelievers. Romans 8:13 reveals that if a believer lives according to the flesh, he will die. The thing about living according to the flesh is that the believer has become one that lives for fleshly pleasure. Living for fleshly pleasure produces spiritual death (see today’s Bible verse). A spiritually dead believer is as disconnected from God as an unbeliever. He is open to satanic manipulations and assaults and no longer enjoys the communion of the Holy Spirit. This is one of the saddest things that happen on earth. It will never happen to you in Jesus’ name. Go into today remembering that believers who indulge in [sinful] pleasure are toiling with spiritual death. The only way to overcome the power and chains of sinful pleasure is by the power of the Holy Spirit. This power is activated when we give ourselves consistently and intentionally to prayer and the word. By praying in the spirit, our spirits are charged with grace and this even affects and strengthens our mortal bodies (see Romans 8:11). On the other hand, our souls (mind: thoughts, desires, imaginations) are brought under the subjection of God’s Spirit and power when we give ourselves intentionally and consistently to the sincere word of God. Jesus says His words are spirit and life (see John 6:63). Prayer: Lord, deliver me from the trap of sinful fleshly pleasures. I ask that you help me live for you and please you in all things. Amen. Confession: I’m of God. I don’t live for sinful pleasure, I live to please Christ, and I am fruitful in every good work. Amen. Not yet saved? Christ the First Fruit
1 Corinthians 15:20 (NET) But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. A few days ago I was looking at some mango trees with most of their fruits yet to mature, but these same trees already had a few mature and ripe fruits. Even though most of their fruits would not be ready until at least two months from now, there are some of them with few ripe fruits right now. Those few ripe fruits are what is called the first fruits. The other remaining fruits are yet maturing but the first fruits have already been harvested. When you see the first fruits, you are sure that the other fruits will follow in due time. Jesus Christ was raised from the dead as the first fruit of those who have fallen asleep. This term ‘fallen asleep’ is only used for believers who are expected to ‘wake up’ on the resurrection. We believers in Christ are sure of our resurrection because Jesus has already resurrected as our first fruits, and because he has resurrected, we too would resurrect. Go into today thanking the Lord for the privilege to partake in the resurrection. It is our resurrection that would usher us into the fullness of our glory as sons of God and literally set the whole of creation free from the corruption (see 1 Corinthians 13:9,10,12, Romans 8:21-23). Living with the consciousness of your coming resurrection is the way to live as a believer. This consciousness would put all things into a proper perspective and reduce the inflated perception of the temporary glory of this present world to its real size. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the assurance of resurrection into glory just as my Lord has resurrected into glory. Please help me live with this hope and experience a foretaste of this glory in this present life. Thank you, Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Not yet saved? Be Careful How You Build
1 Corinthians 3:11-12 (NET) For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ. 12 Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. Tosin believed that God had called her to minister healing to the sick. She had the spiritual gift of healing and manifestation of the prophetic, and her ministry was all about her spiritual gifts. However, unfortunately, she would minister healing to many sick people without bringing them to the knowledge of Christ. Even the believers who were in her ministry were not growing to become more like Christ. Because there were more and more people showing up every week, Tosin believed she was building accordingly, but one day she had a dream and saw that she had been building with hay since the day she started ministry. Jesus Christ is the foundation of our faith. We cannot be Christians without Christ. Our goal as Christians is to become like Christ. As we grow spiritually, we grow into the fullness of the stature of Christ. Any kingdom work you do cannot count if it is not built on the foundation of Christ. This means in the final analysis, everything your ministry seeks to establish is Christ in the lives of people- That Christ may be formed in them (see Gal 4:19). Whatever your vision may be in ministry, never forget that it must be about Christ- it must be about people growing and becoming more like Christ. It must be about establishing the Lordship and righteousness of Christ everywhere. It must never be about anything else (see 1 Cor 2:1-2). The more Christ-centric a ministry is, the more precious the material used by the builder (minister). Go into today asking the Lord to help you build with gold and precious materials. Access Through Faith
Ephesians 3:12 (NLT) Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence. When Nonso heard the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, he realized that the reason he could approach God was not because he did what was right but because he had faith in Christ Jesus. This faith made him have unlimited access to God’s throne, and there he received grace to do what was right. He was now a righteous person from within and no longer the actor he had been all his life. Unknown to him, the biggest temptation he was facing was the temptation to start thinking that his access to God will now be because of his righteous works, and no more because of his faith. God’s presence is the air your born again spirit breaths. Life becomes miserable outside of it. Sin becomes a lifestyle outside of the grace supplied through it. Any Christian who thinks his access pass to God’s presence is by anything other than his faith in Christ will live a miserable life. The devil will always try to keep you from God’s presence because he knows he does not stand a chance against you if you dwell in God’s presence. The devil’s most potent weapon for keeping us away from God’s presence is by tempting us to sin, and accusing us and making us feel God has rejected us and we no more have access to Him. If we believe the devil’s lie, we lose our boldness to fellowship with God. Many Christians fall for this and suffer because of this ignorance. Go into today remembering that if you still have faith in Christ, you still have unhindered access to the Father. Running away from His presence is not the way to get clean, running to His presence when we feel dirty is the way to get clean. Not born again? Understanding Commitment
Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NET) When the fig tree does not bud, and there are no grapes on the vines; when the olive trees do not produce, and the fields yield no crops; when the sheep disappear from the pen, and there are no cattle in the stalls, I will rejoice because of the Lord; I will be happy because of the God who delivers me. Words can be used to communicate a lot of things. Faith, love, compassion among others. One other thing words can communicate is commitment. Commitment, akin to faithfulness, describes a man’s unchanging and unwavering devotion to a person or cause regardless of changing circumstances. Faithfulness is an esteemed virtue in God’s Kingdom. In Galatians 5:22, the Bible mentions it in the fruit of the spirit, and likewise 1 Corinthians 4:2 reads “Moreover, it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful”. Commitment to God is our resolute dedication to him (his cause, his word, and his person) even in the face of adversity. Faith, when present in the heart, overflows through the lips, likewise, commitment is also often expressed in words. Sometimes, declarations of commitment have been mistaken for speaking unbelief and doubt but far from it. When a declaration of commitment is made, what is being said is not “I declare that things will get bad” but rather it is saying, “no matter what comes, it will not change my commitment to God”. Remember the three Hebrew boys in the book of Daniel, this is what they said, “If it happens, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up” (Dan 3:17-18 WEB). This is not a declaration of doubt, it is saying even if the worst were to happen, we will still be faithful to our God. This is how committed we are to Him. The Bible teaches to rejoice always and, in all things, to give thanks. So, in the words of Habakkuk, even if the fig tree does not bud, the faithful man will still rejoice in and because of the Lord. Go into today resolved that come what may, you will be committed to God and will not be put to shame. Prayer: Lord, help me to be faithful. Deliver me from any form of unbelief. Amen. Identifying False Teachers
1 Timothy 6:3-4 (KJV) If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmising I have heard of certain teachers who teach doctrines that contradict the teachings of Christ. They say that ‘the things Jesus taught were meant for Jews and not for Christians’ or ‘Jesus’ teachings were before the New Testament and are not valid for New Testament believers’. They forget that every testament (will) is given before and not after the death of the testator. The death of the testator simply ratifies and brings it into effect. Such teachers are the ones Apostle Paul is referring to in today’s Bible verses. They claim to know much but actually know nothing. How can someone who has an understanding of God’s Word say that the things Jesus taught were not meant for those who believe in Him? Yes, there were things the Lord could not teach His disciples because they could not receive them without the help of the Holy Spirit (until the Holy Spirit came and baptized the Gentiles in the very eyes of the first Apostles, they could not believe that Gentiles could receive God’s salvation), but the things the Lord taught and commanded His Apostles were meant for believers, and He instructed them to teach these things to other [new] believers everywhere (see Matt 28:20). Go into today remembering that one way to identify those who spread false teachings is that they claim that certain things Jesus taught are not meant for the believer. They also claim that certain other portions of the New Testament are not meant for the believer. Prayer: Lord, please immunize me from the deception of those who spread false teachings. Amen.
