Whose Report Will You Believe?
Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1944 Isaiah 53:1 (KJV) Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? Paige went for a medical checkup and the doctors gave her a troubling report. After further tests, she was told that one of her kidneys had packed up and the other one would soon pack up. She was put on a special diet and was already being processed to be added to the waiting list for kidney donor recipients. Paige was so distressed that she started weeping uncontrollably. It looked to her like she was going to die, and her children were still very young. But as she started to meditate on the word of God, she realized that God’s report concerning her was health and peace. She had the doctor’s report which was based on facts, and the Lord’s report which is based on the truth. This Lord’s report said she was healed by His stripes. As soon as she decided to believe and dwell on the Lord’s report, the depression and fear left and her heart became peaceful and joyful just like that of a person told they have been cured of a deadly disease. Three days later she observed that the symptoms of the illness had left. As she kept on confessing and insisting on the Lord’s report concerning her health, she went back for tests a week later and to her joy and utter surprise of her physicians, her two kidneys were now working perfectly. “It’s like you’ve got new kidneys because these are not the kidneys I saw last month”, her doctor said. From today’s Bible verse, we can infer that those who believe the report of the Lord are those to whom the arm of the Lord is stretched. They are those who see the help of the hand of the Lord in their lives. Go into today remembering that as you insist on believing God’s report concerning any area of your life, you will see the manifestation of His power in that area. prayer: Lord, help me believe only your report concerning me. Overcoming Temptation
Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1943 Luke 22:45-46 KJVAnd when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The following conversation ensued between a physician and his patient: Doctor: how have you been feeling? Patient: terrible. Doctor: can you describe your feeling? Patient: yes, yes, terrible headache most times, dizziness as if I’m going to fall and sometimes it appears the house just begins to rotate, it’s a really terrible expereince doctor. Doctor: what have you been doing to handle the pain? Patient: yea, just some pain relieving drugs and some rest and I get really relieved but it’s not working anymore. After a series of tests, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and needed a brain surgery. This patient managed the symptoms but left the cause unattended to, he got temporary relief but not a cure. Many believers today are fruitlessly fighting temptation through methods such as confession, penance, increased church activities, and a pile of dos and don’ts, while they ignore the root cause of the weakness causing them to fall time and time again. But as pain in the body is not the problem but a sign of an underlying problem, so is falling into temptation, it’s a signal showing a deficiency in your prayer life. The spiritual strength required to resist temptation is made available through prayer. Jesus told His disciple that Satan desired to sift him like wheat, but He had prayed for him and because He prayed, he overcame. See Luke 22:31-32. Go into today knowing that it is only those who wait upon the Lord that get their strength renewed (Isa 40:31). We wait on the Lord through prayer.Dr. Emmanuel James Not yet saved? Company and Destiny
Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1942 1 Corinthians 15:33 (NET) Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” When Seyi got a job and moved to the city, he wasn’t diligent to watch his company, but just rolled with his colleagues and joined them every now and then in the bar. Even though he never joined them to take alcohol, he later noticed that Idol words started coming out of his mouth. He observed that he started using a certain dirty four-letter word and was now struggling with great lust in his heart. Wondering why his heart was now filled with lust and weakness, ‘I thought I’ve passed this stage in my walk with the Lord’ he said to himself when it dawned on him that his good morals were being corrupted by the bad company he had been keeping. Seyi first realized that things were not well with his soul when he noticed that inappropriate four letter word coming out of his mouth. He was uncomfortable because he understood that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matt 24:34) and that we would give account to the Lord for every idle word that comes out of our mouths (see Matt 12:36), how much more for every corrupt dirty word? Go into today remembering that the company you keep as a believer goes a long way in determining your destiny (see Psa 1:1-5). Many destinies have been marginalized because good morals were corrupted along the way. Also remember that the words that come out of your mouth drive your destiny (see James 3:2-5, Prov 18:21). Be careful that your words are seasoned with salt and filled with grace (see Col 4:6). This is one way to ensure that your life is filled with grace. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Not yet saved? Called To Show Forth His Praises
Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1941 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. It happened that Every male child in Segun’s family was dedicated to a god and this god had the prerogative to choose his next priest from any of the male children in the family. If anyone was chosen, he could never marry, he must serve the god as a priest all his life. Segun was chosen by this god the day he was named, however, before Segun grew to the age of accountability, his father encountered some missionaries and believed in the Lord Jesus. It was after this that his name was changed to Oluwasegun, meaning our Lord has conquered. Shortly after this, the high priest of this god came demanding for Segun claiming that he had to start training. Segun’s father refused to hand over his son to the priest even when the king and the community tried to persuade him. He insisted that he and his house now belong to Jesus. The priest cursed him and his family saying they will not live to see the next market day. To everyone’s surprise, the priest died before the said market day. Segun and his family didn’t die, the whole community then congregated at their compound begging that they show them what they have that saved them from the god and its priest. As believers, we are called to show, reveal or make known the praises of God. One way to do this is by putting an end to the ungodly patterns in our families and communities. Our lives as children of God must reveal the power of God. If we must do this, we must know, believe and dwell in our position in Christ Jesus. Go into today knowing that all things have been put under the feet of Jesus and that He is your head, see Ephesians 1:21. Since Christ is your head, all things including principalities and power are now under your feet. Pray this way, because I have Jesus as my head, every power working against me and my family comes under my feet now in Jesus. I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. The Last Enemy
Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1940 1 Corinthians 15:25-26 (NET) For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be eliminated is death. After Salma believed in the Lord Jesus, she realized that she now had the ability and power to say ‘no’ to sin. One thing she found very difficult to say before was ‘no’. But because she was now in Christ, she received power to become a child of God. This power gave her the boldness to escape the corruption in this world through lust. Salma observed that the more she said ‘no’ to sin, the more she could say ‘yes’ and ‘amen’ to the promises of God and walk in the divine life she received through the new birth. It is only those who escape the corruption in this world through lust that can partake in God’s divine nature by appropriating His great promises (see 2Pet 1:4). From today’s Bible verse, we see that the last enemy that the Lord would defeat is death. The way to eliminate death is to get rid of sin because it is through sin that death came into this world–the wages of sin is death (see Rom 5:12, 6:23). As long as there is still sin, there would be death. The new heavens and earth that would replace these old ones would be free of sin and death (corruption). It would never grow old like this present earth because there would be no corruption (decay) in it. Corruption and death are bye products of sin. Go into today remembering that even while in this body of flesh, we can begin to walk in a foretaste of our divine life. But this is only possible as we escape the corruption that is in the world through lust, and stand on God’s promises. God’s promises are the vehicle through which the realities of the divine life is appropriated. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Not yet saved? Be Steadfast Praying
Luke 18:1 (AMP) “Also (Jesus) told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up).” Bro. Kelechi was worried about the low turnout of Christians to vote in the last elections. He concluded that he will stop attending his church prayer meetings because his brethren were full of prayers but less action. By God’s mercy, He sent an elder in Kelechi’s Church to him who opened his eyes to some issues that were deeper than winning or losing elections. Elder Chijioke told him that by praying alone, you are already receiving answers to your prayers. That currently some believers are praying that God should revive their prayer life. He also said that by persisting in prayer your desires are gradually being aligned to the will of the Father, and not necessarily to get what you are requesting from God. He went further to say that God is greater than man and He works with His will and not necessarily with how you feel about an issue. This was How Bro. Kelechi had a rethink about his prayer decision. Hebrew 11:39-40 “And all of these, though they won divine approval by (means of) their faith, did not receive the fulfillment of what was promised. Because God had us in mind and had something better and greater in view for us…,” Some of the heroes of faith in the Hebrew 11 did not see what they believed God for. But they remained steadfast, trusting in the one in whom they believed. They kept the faith irrespective of the outcome of their prayers. The enemy of the faith wants to use every medium to reduce the intensity with which believers stay with God in prayers. We must reject this by constantly trusting in God and resisting the temptation to reduce our prayer tempo. Go into today believing that the will of God supersedes yours. And you will trust every of his leading. The more you pray, it is more likely that you will live a victorious Christian life. By praying you will not faint (Luke 18:1). Prayer: Lord, give me the grace to remain above the situations around me. Infuse in me your strength to persist in prayers. —Emmanuel Isegbe Onah Not yet saved? Christ Would Reign on This Earth
Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/audio1938 1 Corinthians 15:24-25 (NET) Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when he has brought to an end all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. I was discussing with a beloved fried not long ago when I realized he was not acquainted with the fact that the Lord Jesus would reign over this earth for a thousand years with His Saints before this entire earth and the heavens are destroyed and replaced with new heavens and a new earth. He believed that the earth and the heavens and all who dwell in the earth who are not believers would be destroyed with the second coming of the Lord. I had to show him from scripture (starting with Revelation 20-21) that the Lord would indeed rule over this earth for a thousand years before the new heavens and earth would replace it. Today’s Bible verse talks about the reign of Christ before the new heavens and a new earth in which there is righteousness and no more enemy of Christ(2 Pet 3:13). Psalm 2 talks about that reign that the kings of this earth would not be able to resist, even though they would try. According to Revelation 20-21, the destruction of the heavens and this earth described in 2 Peter 3:10 would happen after the physical millennial reign of Christ over this earth. Every believer (whether great or small in the kingdom) would be a part of this. But not every believer would be part of this first resurrection and reign of Christ over this earth, because those who would partake therein are the first fruits; they are not those who simply escaped hell, but those who are chosen to reign because of their faithfulness to the cause of Christ during their stay in this body of flesh (see Rev 17:14). They are those at the highest level in God’s kingdom. Height and greatness in the kingdom in attained by faithfulness and obedience (see Matt 25:21). One thing quite sure in scripture is that those who would be martyred for Christ would reign with Him in His millennial reign on this earth (see Rev 20:4). Those who suffered for/with Him in this present world would reign with Him in this present world for a millennium (2 Tim 2:12). Go into today thanking the Lord for the privilege to be a sharer in his sufferings and the incomparable glory that would follow. Ask the Lord to help you see life from the perspective of God’s kingdom. Staying Sanctified
Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1937 Haggai 2:12-13 (NET) If someone carries holy meat in a fold of his garment and that fold touches bread, a boiled dish, wine, olive oil, or any other food, will that item become holy?’” The priests answered, “It will not.”Then Haggai asked, “If a person who is ritually unclean because of touching a dead body comes in contact with one of these items, will it become unclean?” The priests answered, “It will be unclean.” Jide wondered why each time he spent time with his old friends (who were unbelievers), he came back spiritually weaker and was more susceptible to spiritual attacks and falling into temptations. He always assumed that his contact with unbelievers should help further sanctify them, and not the other way round. But his experience made him realize that his assumption was wrong. Today’s Bible verses reveal a very profound but fundamental spiritual principle. Here the Lord told Prophet Haggai to ask the priests if contact with a Holy thing made other things holy. The answer was no. But it was revealed that contact with defiled things make undefiled things become defiled. This was a principle that God’s people in the time of Haggai needed to remember, and it is a principle God’s people need to remember today. Mixing clean clothes and dirty ones don’t make dirty clothes clean, it would only dirty clean clothes. Go into today remembering that you are not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers (see 2 Cor 6:14, James 4:4). This does not mean you are not to talk to them, be helpful to them or work with them. This means you are not to make unbelievers your close friends and confidants with who you share matters of your heart. Prayer: Lord, help me to live a sanctified life. Amen. —Abraham Damilola Arigi. Every Believer Would Be Resurected
Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1936 1 Corinthians 15:22-23 (NET) For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ, the firstfruits; then when Christ comes, those who belong to him. Because Gloria understood the teaching about the resurrection, she didn’t mourn like the rest when her grandmother slept in the Lord. She knew she was going to see her grandma again, and this time they would see to part no more. Jesus died and his disciples mourned Him and were depressed, but when he resurrected, their joy became full again. They saw Him, touched Him and ate with Him. The difference this time was that they knew that the new body he now had could never die again. So it would be for every believer who dies in the Lord. They will resurrect with glorified bodies and be reunited with their loved ones who would also resurrect with glorified bodies that can never die, so long as their loved ones are also believers in Christ. Go into today remembering that just as Christ was resurrected, you too would be resurrected into glory and honor. You would resurrect into everlasting life in the glorified body. Prayer: give the Lord thanks for giving you the privilege of the resurrection. Pray for your loved ones who are not yet in Christ; that the Lord would have mercy on them and cause them to be saved so that you would spend the rest of eternity with them as resurrected human beings. —Abraham Damilola Arigi. The Reward of Faithfulness
Get the Audio Version: bit.ly/aud1935 Luke 19:17 (NET) And the king said to him, ‘Well done, good slave! Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, you will have authority over ten cities.’ One very important teaching of the gospel message that some seem to ignore today is that Jesus our Lord is coming back to this physical world to take over the governments of this world (see Rev 11:15, Dan 7:27, Ps 86:9). Those who are with Him would be given authority over physical territories in this earth. We would be rewarded according to our faithfulness to His kingdom work while we were in this body of flesh. Our hope as believers is not only in the fact that we would escape hell and go to heaven (that is a gift), but that we would rule the heavens and even this present earth with our Lord and savior for all eternity. But the dimension of governing with the Lord comes as a reward for faithfulness to His assignment for you in this present world. The parable Jesus gave in Luke 19:11-29 is one of the most literal parables in the Bible. In accordance with our faithfulness to His assignment right now, the Lord Jesus would give us dominion over literal cities in this present world when He returns to take over the governments of this world. It is because of this understanding that we believers do not labor for earthly wealth at the expense of our heavenly reward. We understand that we would inherit this earth and all the other billions of galaxies with their billions of planets. Because of our service to Christ, we would inherit all things (see Rev 21:7). Go into today remembering that the choice is yours whether you would rule and reign with the Lord for all eternity. Those that would be with Him [in government] are the called, the chosen, and the faithful (see Rev 17:14). —Abraham Damilola Arigi.
