1 Corinthians 4:1 (NKJV) Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
Yinka’s Grandma lived with them in the city. She was an unbeliever and could not understand what her children and grandchildren were always going to do in church every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday. She had observed for years that they were always excited to go to church.
On a given Wednesday evening, she curiously asked: “what is it that you go to do in the church and stay so long and would still be so excited to go next time?”
Yinka responded: ma, we go to hear the word of God.
Grandma: “Which word that[sic] has not finished for all these years? Don’t you get tired of it? Is it not the same old Bible that they read it from?”
For the first time, it occurred to Yinka that her Pastors didn’t merely preach from the Bible, but were stewards of the mysteries of God. This was why they never ran out of fresh word from God that blessed the people. She invited her grandma to come to church with them. This time, she agreed to go with them just to see what made them so excited. That was the day Yinka’s grandma accepted the Lord Jesus.
Every servant of Christ is a Steward of the mysteries of God. This is an awesome privilege. But just like most things in the kingdom of God, he must walk in this reality by faith, and this faith is activated by knowledge. He must know that as a servant of Christ, he is a steward of the mysteries of God.
Go into today remembering that through the church, the manifold wisdom of God is made known to the rulers and authorities in the spirit realm (Eph 3:10). This is because we have access to the mysteries of God.
