Your association matters

2 Thessalonians 3:6 (NET) But we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from any brother who lives an undisciplined life and not according to the tradition they received from us. Even though Flavian knew that David was living an undisciplined life, he kept a close relationship with him and remained his closest buddy. David was a believer, but he was very indisciplined with the opposite sex and this had led to a number of “incidences” that Flavian knew very well about. There was even an abortion. Flavian who never struggled with immorality before now started having compulsive thoughts and imaginations. He knew that he would eventually commit adultery, so he became restless in spirit. It was when he took out time to seek the Lord in prayer and fasting that the Lord revealed to him that his struggle was because of his close association with David. In today’s Bible verse, we see that we are to avoid undisciplined brothers. This is a very important instruction for believers who intend to stay spiritually uncontaminated. It is much easier for a believer to be contaminated by a corrupted believer than it is for him to be contaminated by an outright unbeliever. When a person becomes a believer, he is a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17). Believers are an entirely different species and kind in the spirit realm. For example, suppose you have a goat and your goat is infected with the cold virus. In that case, it is very difficult to get infected with that virus because you’re not of the same kind as the goat, but if a fellow human being you have close proximity with has a cold, you can easily contract the virus if you’re not careful. In the same manner, if a believer interacts closely with a fellow believer who is infected with a spiritual virus of iniquity, he would very easily contract the spiritual virus if he is not careful. Go into today meditating on these words: 1 Corinthians 5:11 (NET) But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who calls himself a Christian who is sexually immoral, or greedy, or an idolater, or verbally abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: Jonah (In Today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. The last days

2 Timothy 3:1 (NET) But understand this, that in the last days difficult times will come. Demain received very weak recommendations from his supervisor even though he was the most hardworking in his unit. When Demian realized that he was being persecuted because he was a Christian, he was so discouraged that his faith started to waver. Hitherto, he was never taught that being a Christian would attract persecution from the world, but as he continued to learn the word of God and grow, he understood that difficult times did not mean the Lord did not care about him, in fact, they were the tools God used to make him mature(see James 1:1-3). Ever since the last days began, the devil has been fighting desperately against God’s people and agenda because he knows his time is short. He is fighting dirty. The Lord has warned us sufficiently about the perils of these times, but if we don’t remember the Lord’s warning, the devil will be able to discourage us. It is difficult for God to use a discouraged person. As soon as Elijah got discouraged, he was instructed to anoint his replacement. Go into today remembering that we are in the last days. Our salvation and glorification are nearer now than when we first believed. Do not let the devil get you to the point of discouragement. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: Proverbs 28 (In Today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. Why the last days? 2

Acts 2:17 (NET) ‘And in the last days it will be,’ God says, ‘that I will pour out my Spirit on all people, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. Stephanie was a drug addict before she met Seye who preached the gospel to her and started to disciple her. Stephanie’s testimony was that through the power of the Holy Spirit, she was able to overcome an addiction that no doctor or rehab could solve. Before the last days, just anyone could not receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit. This was a special preserve for God’s holy prophets who were descendants of Abraham. But according to scripture, one of the markers of the last days will be the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on all people. Today, anyone anywhere can receive the Holy Spirit and become a member of God’s family. Every time a person is convicted and repents, that is the work of the Holy Spirit. The natural inclination of the heart of [fallen] man is not Godward. So when you see people repenting and having the desire to know the living true God, it is because of the active work of the Holy Spirit. It is because of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that the required number of people to occupy God’s [vacant] thrones would come into his kingdom. When that number has reached its fullness, the Lord Jesus will return (Romans 11:25-26, Matthew 24:14). Jesus would not rule the universe alone when he returns. He would need functionaries who would be part of His government. The Holy Spirit has been in the world since Pentecost, gathering these functionaries. One of the most important things the Holy Spirit is doing in the world today is to convict people and bring them to repentance. He is raising an army of God’s sons who will rule and reign over God’s creation for all eternity. By preaching the gospel and making disciples, We (the church) partner with Him to bring people into the kingdom so that the end will come for this current world order. This is how the Spirit and the bride say come(Rev 22:17). Go into today remembering that it is because of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that any sinner can become a saint. Determine to cooperate with Him today to bring many people into the family of God. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: Psalms 117-118 (In Today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. Why the last days?

Hebrews 1:1-2 (KJV) God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds When Ken desperately wanted to be governor, he was introduced to an occult secret society. He was told to make certain sacrifices in order to appeal to the gods of the land. He did so and won the election. He became governor, but the gods who gave him power were the ones who truly governed the territory. He was just their stooge. Those “gods of the land” were the governing principalities over that territory. These are angels subject to Satan the prince of this world. When scripture refers to Satan as the prince of this world, it is because he is the ruler of those principalities that govern many territories of this world. The only territories they do not govern are those occupied by a formidable number of God’s children who know how to let their light shine. We see in today’s Bible verses that we are in the last days because God has now spoken to us through His Son. The first coming of Jesus indicated the beginning of the end for the current world order headed by Satan. This world was not designed to be governed by angels but by Adam(man). Angels ended up governing this present world order because Adam sinned, fell short of God’s glory, and lost the capacity to govern the cosmos. Jesus, who is the last Adam, came first to be the way for people to be restored to God’s glory. He would come again to take over the government of the world. We who abide in Him would rule and reign with Him for 1000 years over this present world, and forever and ever over the new heaven and the new earth that would come after the millennial reign. (see Revelation 20:4, Daniel 7:18, 27, 1 Corinthians 6:2-3, 2 Timothy 2:12, Matthew 19:28). We are in the last days because Satan’s time as ruler of this world is short(Revelation 12:12). These are the last days for the current world order. Go into today remembering that It is foolish to invest your life into this present world order that is passing away. It is wise to invest your life into God’s kingdom which will never pass away. Be devoted to prayer

Colossians 4:2 (NET) Be devoted to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving. Freddie was a believer in the Lord Jesus but he was not devoted to prayer. He did not understand why someone would pray for up to one hour. By the time he had mentioned his requests for a couple of minutes, he had exhausted his prayer list. Freddie was spiritually weak because of this. But as he grew in the knowledge of God, he realized that prayer was not just about making requests to God. It is the way your spirit communes with the spirit of God. He also realized that when he tarried in the place of prayer, his faith was boosted and unbelief in his heart was diminished. You may need to pray for one hour over an issue not because God didn’t hear the prayer the first minute you prayed, but what the next 59 minutes did was to deal with the unbelief in your heart and condition you to be able to receive your miracle. A person that does not understand this secret may not have a fruitful prayer life. 1 John 5:11 reveals that God has given us eternal life and this life is in His son. This life is not in us but in Christ. The power of this life is apprehended through communion with His spirit. One of the most effective ways this communion happens is by praying in the spirit. A believer who is not devoted to prayer will not be able to apprehend the unlimited power he has access to through the new birth. Go into today remembering that a prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian. Ask the Lord for the grace to be truly devoted to prayer. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: Numbers 29-32 (In Today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. Put on Christ’s nature

Ephesians 4:24 (AMP) And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, in true righteousness and holiness. Chinedu did not just stop being bad, he started being good. He could now put off his old bad nature and put on his new good nature because he now had the power to do so. Before he became a believer, he had tried to change and become a good husband to his loving wife, but he found that he couldn’t. He just did not have the power, he had been a bad boy all his life. But after he believed in the Lord Jesus and was being discipled, he found the power to walk in the divine nature and be a good man and husband. Many Christians don’t realize how much they have the power to put on their new righteous nature. Many fail because they try to do this without first putting off the old nature of unrighteousness (see Ephesians 4:22). They try to be good without calling sin what it is (confessing their sins and renouncing them). They try to justify what they know is a sin. You cannot be a person of integrity if you still tell lies. You have to first decide to stop telling lies (putting off the old nature), and now decide to start walking in your new nature of truth which you have received from God. You cannot truly start walking in mountain-moving faith if you don’t first put off the old nature of fear and unbelief. You put off the old nature by confessing and renouncing its works before the Lord. Don’t justify what you know is of the sinful Adamic nature. Call it out, repent of it, and fight it with all you’ve got. Go into today knowing that you now have the power to put off the sinful, disobedient nature and put on the nature of righteousness and Holiness that you have received from God. Ask the Lord to help you do this. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: Acts 1-2 (In Today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. Let the words of Christ dwell in you richly

Colossians 3:16 (NET) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with grace in your hearts to God. I have had disturbing conversations with certain believers who always try to downplay the place of knowledge in our Christian experience. I have observed that such believers can be easily deceived, and walk in alarming manifestations of the flesh while thinking they are spiritual. Believers whose only exposure to sound teaching is on Sunday morning will hardly have a rich supply of the words of Christ in their spirits. If you are going to be a fruitful Christian, it is expedient that the words of Christ dwell in you richly, not sparingly or moderately. In order for this to happen, you have to give priority to ingesting the word of God through reading and/or listening to scripture, Christian literature, sermons, etc. The words of Christ are the words of scripture interpreted through the spirit of Christ. We get our bearing in understanding all scripture, through the teachings of Christ and His apostles recorded in the New Testament. There is a way Christ and the apostles interpreted the law and the prophets, and it was different from the way Judaism did. An example of this is the interpretation of the sabbath law or the laws pertaining to food (see Matthew 12:1-8, Colossians 2:16). The words of Christ dwelling in you richly is God’s strategy to keep you spirit-filled and spirit-led. The words of Christ provide the basis and spiritual vocabulary by which you can be accurately led by God’s Spirit. Those who don’t have the words of Christ dwelling richly in them can be led by their own flesh or familiar spirits disguised to be the Holy Spirit. God would scarcely open them up to the supernatural dimension because they would be easily deceived by other spirits taking advantage of that opening. Go into today determined to let the words of Christ dwell in you richly. Make solid plans to increase your ingestion of God’s words. Righteousness by Faith

Romans 1:17 (NET) For the righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel from faith to faith, just as it is written, “The righteous by faith will live.” Before coming to know the Lord Jesus, Timi was a bad boy indeed. He was so bad that even his mother did not believe he could change. He had always been the black sheep of the family. Because Timi saw the gospel’s power to change him, he believed it. He had seen what it did to his college roommate. Unknown to everyone, Timi really wanted to change but did not know how, so when he saw how his roommate was Changed by the power of Christ, he too wanted that. Timi became a righteous and holy person by faith. He believed that he was made righteous because of his faith in Christ Jesus. He believed that his nature had changed and he now had the nature of God. He believed that sin now no longer had power over him. These things he believed controlled his expectations, and his experience followed. Through his faith, he truly became righteous and holy. As you walk with the Lord, remember that what you believe is key in your walk with the Lord. Faith is such a precious thing. Through it, we apprehend the things Christ has paid for. Without it, we cannot even please God. Go into today remembering that you have to first believe that you are righteous before the righteousness nature manifests in your daily experiences. You are now a new creature in Christ, created in God’s own nature of Holiness and righteousness. Believe this against all odds, and your righteousness will manifest against all odds. — Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Plan: Obadiah (In Today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational. God’s great and precious promises

Isaiah 54:17 (KJV) No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. Sola liked to quote Isaiah 54:17 because he understood too well what demonic weapons were and what they could do. His mother became mysteriously sick and almost died, and it was later revealed that his stepmother was the one who sent a demonic arrow against her. These kinds of arrows made people mysteriously ill and die. Some of such arrows could make a student become so forgetful that he would practically be incapable of doing well academically, no matter how much he studies. Sadly, Sola was still a victim of curses(tongues or utterances made against him in judgment) and many demonic arrows(weapons), even though he liked to pray and quote promises like Isaiah 54:17. Perturbed and worried, he asked his campus pastor why he was so afflicted even though he prayed and quoted God’s promises. It was later discovered that the promises Sola loved to quote did not apply to him because he did not meet the conditions of the promises as outlined in scripture. Many of God’s promises in Scripture are based on conditions, and if you meet them, you can be sure God will fulfill them because He cannot lie. There is a general condition for all of God’s promises in scripture, and there are specific conditions for specific promises found in scripture. 2 Corinthians 1:20 reveals the general condition. It says that in Christ, all of God’s promises are “yes”, and through Him, the Amen is spoken by us to God’s glory. As long as you abide in Christ, all of God’s promises are “yes” for you. The general condition for God’s promises to apply to a person today is that they must abide in Christ. That is the “yes” requirement for God’s promise to find fruition in our lives. But remember, there is also the “Amen” requirement, as revealed in 2 Corinthians 1:20. For a promise like the one in today’s Bible verse, the specific condition for that promise to be “Amen” for a believer is that they must be servants of God. The reason why Sola could not appropriate those promises was that he was not a servant of God but a user of God. There was no record of anything he ever did in service to God. All the things he did were motivated by self-centeredness. Being a servant of God does not mean you are a pastor or church preacher. It means there must be things in your life that you can identify as things you do in service to God. It could be as “common” as cleaning the church, or as “complex” as preaching to the lost. When you see a promise in scripture, look out for the conditions. If you meet the requirements, you can be sure that the promise will be yours through faith. Some promises only require our faith and confessions for them to be appropriated, as long as we abide in Christ. Go into today thanking God for His great and precious promises. Your Affection Matters

Psalms 1:1-2 (NET) How blessed is the one who does not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand in the pathway with sinners, or sit in the assembly of scoffers! Instead he finds pleasure in obeying the Lord’s commands; he meditates on his commands day and night. “It is not that big a deal” said Lola for the umpteenth time that evening, but Eno would have none of it. Lola and Eno are both members of the choir group in their fellowship on campus. Earlier in that evening, Eno had gone to Lola’s room to check on her so they could both walk to rehearsals as it was their weekly day of rehearsal. However, she had met Lola deeply engrossed in the show Cupid’s Arrow Season three. She then commented that how come Lola skipped all of Season two and was now in season three observing that last week, she had met Lola last on Season One of the show. To which Lola stated that she had completed both Season One and Two since then. Eno tried to point out to Lola that her obsession with these movies (Cupid’s Arrow, Love Triangle, Heart On Fire, etcetera) was unhealthy for her spiritual development, especially noting that these were not wholesome entertainment as they glorify the emotions and portray no godly standard with regards to sex and marriage. But Lola was adamant that these were just her means of unwinding and that it wasn’t that much of a big deal. But the Bible says otherwise. It is instructive that when Jesus summarized the law He quoted Deuteronomy 6 verse 5 which speaks about loving the Lord with all your heart and soul and mind and might (Mark 12:30). Our text today also began by outlining what a blessed man does not do, and the first thing it mentions about what he does is about what he finds pleasure in (God’s words). Apostle Paul writing to the Colossian church also admonished them to set their affections on the things of God. Clearly, what, and even whom, you delight in matters. In fact, Apostle James warns that we are tempted along the lines of our strong (and inordinate) desires. This is because love is a precursor to service. Jesus speaking about mammon started by stating that you cannot serve two masters at the same time, you will rather love one and hate the other (Matt 6:24). Remember, affection produces actions, therefore guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life. Go into today determined to set your affections on the things of God knowing that it matters who and what you love. — Ikechukwu Mpama Yearly Plan: Psalms 114-116 (In Today’s Audio) Streamglobe is nondenominational.
