Ask Believing

Damola asked the Lord to expand his business, but he was behaving in a way that proved that he was not really expecting his prayer to be answered. This was the reason his prayer was not answered. He was double-minded because his expectation was different from his desire and request. He made his request known to God in prayer, but his expectation was the opposite of what he requested. His expectation was not cut short.

What does it mean to ask in faith? It means asking and believing that you will receive what you have requested. It means after you have asked God for something, you expect it to happen, without a doubt (see Mark 11:23). This means that if you ask God for something, you begin to prepare to receive it. You do not say “I might receive it”, you say “I have received it”, and go on thanking God. One reason we [need to] tarry in prayer is not that God did not give the answer the minute we prayed, it is that tarrying in prayer conditions our hearts to stop doubting so we can believe and receive what we have asked for.

Asking in faith means your expectation and your desire are now one. You absolutely expect to receive what you have asked for. Oh, that we may have hearts so conditioned by faith that we always expect to receive what we have asked for.

Go into today remembering that God would not usually give us things that are against His will for us, so it is important for us to know His will through His word so we may not ask amiss (see James 4:3).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I ask that you help me know your will and pray according to it. Amen.
