You Shall Not Be Afraid

Psalms 91:5-6 (NKJV)You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. When Nike traveled to her village for the first time, she was already 27 years old and now born again. She needed to attend her grandfather’s burial. It turned out that her parents were not wrong in their fear of going to the village because the first night Nike spent in that village, a demon was sent to afflict her with an incurable disease. Because Nike had the ability to see visions and walk in the prophetic, she saw in a dream how an old man and a witch joined powers to summon a demon that was to afflict her with a disease in the night. Their plan was that she would travel back to the city before noticing the symptoms of the incurable disease. But because Nike was under the shadow of the Almighty, the demon couldn’t come near her and had to return to the persons that sent it. She noticed the following day that certain women were now so afraid of coming near her and could not even look at her face. This was obvious to other people too. Many diseases and afflictions are spiritually inflicted on people before they begin to see the physical manifestations. The word of God for you today is ‘you shall not be afraid of the pestilence that walks in darkness nor the destruction that wastes at noonday’. None of the diseases afflicting people will come near you because you are under the shadow of the Almighty. Go into today believing God’s word and knowing that you are covered from the evils distributed by evil spirits. Confession: I am under the shadow of the Almighty. No evil shall befall me and no disease shall come near me. In Jesus’ name. Zeal Alone Is Not Enough

Matthew 23:15 (KJV) “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.” As long as Jesus was alive, Peter followed him and showed himself on so many occasions to be a man full of zeal. Because of his audacity, he walked on water (Matthew 14:28-29), rebuked Jesus (Matthew 16:22), promised to never forsake him (Matthew 26:33, 35) etcetera, but he failed in all of the instances; he sank in the water, advocated for Satan and denied Jesus. Peter never stopped failing until he was empowered by the Holy Spirit. Today’s text showed how passionate the scribes and Pharisees were in their evangelism, how they would travel very long distances both on land and sea to win a convert. The result was however disheartening; their converts were made twofold the sons of hell. The reason for this malady was simple, they were not sent by God hence they lacked his empowerment. Zeal or passion alone does not make one a man of God, even the Pharisees and Scribes won converts by their zeal, yet they were themselves children of hell. Being around Jesus, his church and men also does not make one a servant of God. Only the people commissioned by God can serve him and this commissioning is by the Holy Spirit. The end of every passion or zeal that is devoid of the power of God is a failure, no man can do the work of God without the help of God. “For it is God which worketh in us both to will and to do of his good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13 KJV). God must be working in you for your service to please Him. Go into today knowing that zeal is useful only after you have been commissioned and empowered by God. Prayer: check if you are doing a work in the name of God which is powered only by zeal alone, repent, stop the work and seek God’s empowerment. —Dr. Emmanuel James Join us today for Streamglobe Word Encounter Livestreaming. Living By Faith

Mark 4:31 (NKJV)[The kingdom of God] is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth Luke 17:21 …the kingdom of God is within you. If you plant a mustard seed, everything about the tree including the fruits it will bear and the huge size it will attain is encoded into that seed. As the seed begins to grow day by day, its real nature is revealed in the plant. Everything the tree will ever become has been encoded in that seed. When you received Christ as Lord and Savior, you received the righteousness of God in your Spirit. This seed of God in your Spirit is incorruptible (see 1 Peter 1:23). God’s plan is that as you live out your life here on earth by faith, His righteousness within you is revealed. ”For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; it is written, ‘the just shall live by faith’” (Rom 1:17). As you live by faith, the righteousness of God in your spirit is revealed, just like the nature of the mustard seed is revealed as it is allowed to grow. Any believer who does not live by faith will not let the righteousness of God deposited in his spirit to be revealed. He will be unfruitful. Remember that God’s expectation is fruitfulness (John 15:16, Luke 8:4-8). The righteousness that counts before God is the righteousness of God, not the righteousness of man. The righteousness of man is a result of man’s work in obeying laws, but the righteousness of God is the fruit produced when believers live by faith (walk in the Spirit). A believer who lives by faith obeys God’s instructions, not because he thinks that they are the reason he is justified, he obeys them because he understands that he already has a relationship with God because of Christ Jesus. A child obeys his father not so that he can become his father’s child but because he is already his father’s child. Go into today thanking God for the gift of His righteousness in your Spirit. Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you live by faith and be fruitful. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible Reading: Exodus 33-36 (In Devotional Audio) Streamglobe is interdenominational. Serving With A True Heart

Matthew 8:9 (KJV) “For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.” ” Forget it, I am not going to bring myself that low after I have served faithfully as the Pastor of a megachurch for ten years, is this the reward I will get? No! I’m not going to that small church, I won’t accept this humiliation; God forbid!” This was Ray’s response when he was transferred to pastor a small church in a local community. Merriam Webster Dictionary defines service as the work performed by one that serves. The one that serves is called a servant and it is from this that the sentence “servant of God” emanated. Effective service is impossible when you do not see yourself as a servant. Usually, the one you are serving may disappoint you, but if you are a servant you will know that you have no right except the right given you by your master. “So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do” (Luke 17:10 KJV). At its best, a servant who does not see himself as profitable has no sense of entitlement. His master determines what job he must do, how he must do it, and when he must do such a job. If a servant intends to be a faithful servant, his response must be a simple “yes sir”. If God is your Master, your response to His instructions must always be a “yes sir” if you intend to serve with a true heart. Go into today knowing that it is rebellion that makes a servant contest the instructions of his master and the consequences of such disobedience are always grievous. Prayer: I choose to be an obedient servant who will no longer contest with God’s instructions in Jesus’ name. The Attitude of Acceptable Service 2

Psalms 100:2-3 (KJV) Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Gerald knew that he was called to serve the Lord, but he observed that his work for the Lord was not very fruitful. He had friends who were more fruitful and effective than him. He was not comparing himself with them, but he understood that his lack of fruitfulness was not God’s plan for him, so he decided to humble himself and learn from them. After spending some time with one of them, one of the things he observed was that unlike him, his friend was very positive and joyful in his approach to serving the Lord. The three days they spent together, he never heard him complain about anything but only giving thanks. He also observed that his friend was a very positive person who always had a way of seeing the good in people and situations. As Gerald meditated on the differences between his approach to ministry and that of his friend, the Lord revealed to him that his service was not fruitful because he was not serving with gladness but grudgingly with complaints and without the joy of the Lord. Joy is a catalyst for divine prosperity and strength (Isaiah 12:3). The Lord does not give us commandments to do things that we would do naturally. The reason why He tells us to serve Him with gladness is that the natural tendency of man is to serve as a chore. It becomes incumbent upon us to discipline ourselves to rejoice in the Lord always and determine to fill our hearts with only things that are of a good report so that we can serve the Lord with joy in our hearts. Go into today remembering that the way to serve the Lord acceptably is with a cheerful heart. Even in the midst of tribulation, our Lord commands us to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world (John 16:33). Prayer: Lord, help me learn the discipline of focusing on what is good and being thankful always. Deliver me from the temptation of always complaining and criticizing. In Jesus’ name. You Shall Not Be Afraid 2

Proverbs 28:1 (KJV) The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion. Eleojo entered her office and thanked the Lord for a brand new day. She wanted to sit down on her chair when she saw the charm and dead tortoise on it. She was so shocked that she screamed ‘Jesus’ at the top of her voice. Minutes later, the man who placed the charm came to her office. His name was Sani. Sani: Good morning, madam. I just heard you scream. Hope all is well? Eleojo: (already comfortably seated on that same office chair) Good morning sir. I’m fine. How is your wife? Sani: (perplexed to see her seated on the chair and looking so relaxed) I… I… heard you shouting. I… Eleojo: I saw these charms in my office (pointing to the dustbin). The initial shock made me scream so loud. I’m sorry for alarming everyone. Sani: but why are you sitting in the same chair you saw the charm. Shouldn’t you avoid it? Eleojo: God that is in me is far greater than the spirits that follow charms. Wait… how did you know it was on my chair? Sani: I… I… just guessed. I… Eleojo: (cuts in) the person who put it on my chair did so to hinder me from my seat in this office. I will not cooperate with that person. Eleojo got the promotion the following week. Eleojo was bold because she was filled with the Spirit and conscious of her righteousness in Christ. Many Christians are not bold because their consciences are defiled with guilt. You need a clear conscience to be bold like a lion. Go into today remembering that all power in heaven and on earth now belongs to Christ (Mat 28:18). You Shall Not Be Afraid

Psalms 91:5 (NKJV)You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day When Eleojo realized how far some people in her office would go to get promoted, she started getting afraid when she and six other people were due for the next big promotion. Unknown to her, knowing that she was the most qualified for the promotion, her enemies in that office tried several times to attack her by sending demonic spiritual arrows. But they failed each and every time. The sorcerer of one of them gave him a very scary-looking charm and a dead tortoise to secretly sneak into Eleojo’s office. The only purpose of this charm was to bring fear into her heart because they knew charms wouldn’t work on her. They wanted her to lose her peace and start living in fear when she sees the charm and tortoise. They understood that it would be easier for them to attack her when she is living in fear because fear opens the door for demons. The first part of today’s Bible verse says ‘you shall not be afraid… ‘ In this life, there are many things that would seek to make you afraid, but remember that if you are in the secret place of the most high, you will abide under His protection. The enemy sends thoughts and imaginations calculated to keep us in fear because he understands that if he can keep us in fear, we can be defeated. Go into today remembering that constant fear creates a spiritual atmosphere that makes it conducive for demons to operate. Living in Constant fear is a declaration of faithlessness. The victory that overcomes the [dark powers of this] world is your faith (see 1 John 5:4). Prayer: Lord, help me overcome all my fears. Help me walk in your living faith. The Attitude of Acceptable Service

Psalms 100:1-3 (KJV) 1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. 2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Clara observed that Isabel had a more fruitful prayer life and communion with the Lord. There was a time she traveled with Isabel for a wedding and they had to stay together for more than a day. That was when Clara understood why Isabel’s prayer life was so fruitful. Clara observed that unlike her, Helen always approached prayer with a thankful and praiseful attitude of the heart. She was always joyful in dealing with the Lord even when one expected her to be heavy. This was her secret of fruitful communion with the Lord. When Aaron the priest of God lost his first two sons in the same day, the Lord did not permit him and his other two sons to mourn the traditional way people mourned in that culture(see Leviticus 10:6). This was because they were priests unto the Most High God and there is an acceptable demeanor of service in God’s house. They were not to serve the Lord with a mournful demeanor. This truth has evaded many believers today who themselves are priests(1 Pet 2:9). Like Clara, they spend a good portion of their time with God with a mournful attitude of complaints. They forget that the Lord that commanded that they serve Him with gladness is very aware of their problems. In today’s Bible verse we see that we are expected to serve the Lord with gladness and come before His presence with singing. The reason is that He is God and He knows our challenges. When we appear before Him with joy even though there are reasons for us to be sorrowful, He knows and He sees our problems even if we don’t wear them on our hearts and faces. Many who disregard this protocol of dealing with the Lord might find that their communion with the Lord is not as fruitful as it should be. Your Grace and power comes from the place of communion. Go into today remembering to obey the Holy Spirit’s command to rejoice in the Lord always(Philippians 4:4). When God gives us commandments like this, it usually is because the opposite is normal for most people, so we are expected to be deliberate and intentional about not acting in the flesh. The next time you approach the throne of God, don’t greet Him with your worries and problems, greet Him with thanksgiving and praise. This is the acceptable way of worship and fruitful communion. Prayer: Lord, help me always remember to serve you with gladness. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible Reading: Psalms 60-62 (In Devotional Audio) Streamglobe is interdenominational. Managing Glory

Psalm 29:1-2 (KJV), “Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” Timothy’s spiritual growth was really rapid that it caused many to wonder, even his parents were amazed. It did not take long before his parents realized that he was enjoying the gifts and graces they had prayed for and had expected in their ministry. Because of these gifts, he was called several names in a bid to honor God in his life, others simply did so they could win his favor. But a time came when he became so entitled and began to demand honor from men; anyone who will not honor the way he wanted could not get his attention, he eventually stopped giving the glory to God, he simply received it. According to today’s text, we are to give God the glory due to him. What does this mean? Luke 17:10 (KJV) reads, “So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.” Any glory emanating from the work God assigned to you or the gifts he gave you is the glory due him, whether directly from the work he gave you or from men because of the results of the work. No man should give glory to another man and no man should receive glory from another man. Every glory coming from man must be to God, if men decide to give you glory because they are ignorant, you must refuse it and channel it to God. It is the glory that God gives that is yours, the glory men give is not yours but God’s. “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11 KJV). Go into today knowing that there is glory destined for you and God himself is the one who gives this glory. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me never to take the glory due you. —Dr. Emmanuel James Yearly Bible Reading: II Corinthians 11-13 (In Devotional Audio) Streamglobe is interdenominational. Receiving the things of the spirit

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NET) The unbeliever does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. Daramola observed that many things they taught in the church didn’t make too much sense to him. Even though he was born into a Christian family, he did not understand how a person would live for a kingdom that they cannot see. As far as he was concerned, life was about making as much money as possible and enjoying the money. One of the first things that happened to him when he became born again was that it became clearer and clearer to him how empty and vain worldly possessions really were. They could no longer satisfy him, and unlike before when he sought to get satisfaction by seeking more of them, he now understood that the material things of this world didn’t have the ability to satisfy. He didn’t have this wisdom before. He kept running after more and more, and was never really satisfied (Eccl 1:12). Daramola came to realize that the solution to the thirst and hunger in his soul was only found in Christ. For the first time in his life, he found rest for his soul (see Matt 11:29). He was no more seeking to be validated by things and people; he knew he was accepted and loved by Almighty God (Eph 1:6). If you notice that the things of the Spirit of God are beginning to look less important to you, it is an indication that your faith is under attack. You may want to spend more time in prayer and be more careful about the persons you spend much of your time with (see 2 Cor 6:14). Unbelief is a spiritually contagious disease. Go into today remembering that as believers, we are kingdom agents who live for the advancement of God’s kingdom. Everything else comes second (see Matt 6:33). Prayer: Lord, help me live for the kingdom and prosper in all that I do. Amen —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible Reading: Exodus 29-32 (In Devotional Audio) Streamglobe is interdenominational.
