Appropriating God’s Promises 2
Isaiah 43:18-22 ( KJV) Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel. Just before Juliet was born, an angel of the Lord had appeared to her Dad giving him information and instructions concerning his daughter. One of such instructions was that she was not to be brought up with affluence; she was to learn to be moderate, firm, and trust God for her needs because of the nature of the assignment God has for her. Even when her parents told her about these things, she could not understand why the only daughter of a billionaire will be treated as a commoner by her own parents. In anger and pain, she abandoned her parents and left the house to go seek after what she considered a better life. The best she got however was nothing compared to what her parents were offering. After much frustration, she returned to her parents only to discover that all her father’s estate had been willed to her. “But Dad, why didn’t you tell me you have willed all you have to me all along?” She asked, “didn’t I told you I have good plans for you?” her Dad replied. She became ashamed of her actions and asked for the forgiveness of her parents. “I am so sorry for not trusting you” she pleaded. It is by faith in God through Jesus Christ that you become enlisted for the promised blessings. It is however by trusting God continually and unwaveringly that you will become a partaker of the blessings. This will require process and time, you will have to demonstrate faithfulness before God will entrust the resources of His kingdom to you. The second thing needed to appropriate God’s promised blessings is faith and patience. Hebrews 6:12 (KJV), “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises”. Go into today asking God for the faith and patience needed for you to obtain the promises. If you have judged God unfaithful and have abandoned him like Juliet did her parents, repent and ask for God’s forgiveness. —Dr. Emmanuel James Bible In One Year: Genesis 44-47 Streamglobe is interdenominational. Reasonable Service
Romans 12:1 (KJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. The Holy Spirit makes an appeal through the fingers of Apostle Paul to believers here, instructing that considering all that God has done for them, presenting their bodies a living sacrifice is the reasonable service to render. The concept of sacrifice in the scripture is such that when a sacrifice is offered to God, it becomes God’s to use exclusively as He deems fit. The one who offers the sacrifice must bring it willingly, kill it and then the priests divide it and use it in accordance with God’s directive. So you see, whatever is offered as sacrifice to the Lord becomes His to use as He wills. Likewise, when we offer our bodies as a living sacrifice to Him, though we live, we now live to do His bidding. God’s will is revealed in God’s word by the help of the Holy Spirit. This means that the instructions of God’s word are no longer subject to your whims but we are rather subject to it. This is what is referred to as the reasonable service of a believer. Apostle Paul echoed a similar thought in his epistle to the Corinthian church when he said “He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them” (See 2 Cor 5:15 NLT). Until one grasps this truth, he will consider this demand of a reasonable service to be an unreasonable requirement. He will consider his body to be his and to be used to please the Lord as he deems fitting, instead of seeing his body to be the Lord’s and to be used as He has deemed fit. Go into today remembering that in the light of God’s redemptive work for you, offering your life as dedicated unto the Lord is your (only) reasonable response. —Ikechukwu Mpama Bible In One Year: I Corinthians 7-8 If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group through this link☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/FhB7m8GmsNzJhMfV42IcHx Or send a WhatsApp message to +2348021680251, +2348138224547 (send Testimonies and Enquiries to these numbers too) Streamglobe is interdenominational. Do Not Be Moved
1 Corinthians 15:58 (NET)So then, dear brothers and sisters, be firm. Do not be moved! Always be outstanding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. Sophia had a very disturbing dream thrice. The summary of the dream was that the enemy was trying to move her away from her place of glory and push her into a place of shame. At this same period, she felt she was no longer as close as she used to be to the Lord. It became clear to her that there was a shaking and the devil wanted her to be moved. Being moved is a metaphor used in scripture for an undesired relocation from a place of God-ordained glory to a place of shame. In Psalms 125:1, we see that they that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion which cannot be removed. From today’s Bible verse, we can see that one way to ensure that we are not moved is by being outstanding in the work of the Lord. The devil will try all methods to make our faith waver and cause us to be moved, but for those who trust in the Lord, they would be as mount Zion that cannot be moved. One sure sign that a believer truly trusts in the Lord is that he would serve the Lord. As a believer, you must be able to identify ways in which you are actively serving the Lord. Many of God’s promises are activated through service. A very popular promise in Isaiah 54:19(that says no weapon formed against you shall prosper) is actually to those who serve the Lord. This promise ensures that curses (which is a form of spiritual judgment) never find fruition in the lives of God’s servants. Go into today remembering that if you abound in the service of the Lord, no devil can move you away from your place of ordained glory. Prayer Confession: I am serving the Lord and growing from glory to glory. Appropriating God’s Promises 1
Isaiah 43:18-22( KJV) Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel. Juliet was born into a wealthy home but she was raised in a very moderate fashion. She had no special privileges but was brought up like every other child in the community. Her parents met her needs but she was not pampered. As she grew older, she became uncomfortable and would always ask “Dad, why am I being treated like a commoner when it’s obvious I’m not?” Her Dad’s response was always the same “I have good plans for you”. Since her Dad will not change, she became angry, gave up on him. “I can fend for myself,” she said. But this did not ease her condition, it only worsened it. Do you still trust the God whom you know created all things and owns all things but who ‘failed’ to grant your little request? Can you hear his gentle voice as He says “I have good plans for you” (Jeremiah 29:11)? Or are you going to give up on him and stop depending on Him? The first step in appropriating God’s promises is believing and seeking God diligently. Hebrews 11:6 says “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”. If you will ever benefit from the promises of God, you must believe Him against all odds and seek His will diligently. Go into today knowing that God has good plans for you and the wise thing to do is to trust Him. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please give a heart that trusts you always and in all things. Know God Intimately
John 17:3(KJV) ‘’And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” One of the reasons God saved you is so that you can enjoy the privilege and benefits of knowing Him. Salvation isn’t just “insurance” from hell’s flames, neither does God intend that you receive forgiveness for your sins and then merely survive until heaven. Salvation is so much more! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (John 17:3). Salvation is getting to know this awesome, wonderful, loving God for the rest of eternity! Jesus came to give you eternal life. The idea that salvation is merely “fire insurance” came from the church putting a period where the Bible only has a comma. It’s not “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish” period. So many preachers stop here and emphasize salvation’s by-product of missing hell and totally ignore God’s primary purpose— “but have everlasting life.” You were saved for intimate relationship with your heavenly Father and His Son! Jesus came because He loved you! He didn’t come as a dutiful Creator under some sense of obligation to rescue His wayward creation. Christ’s motivation was pure love, and anyone who loves has a need to be loved in return! God’s compassion for you in your lost condition and His passion to restore you to fellowship with Him was combined into a sacrificial love that endured the cross. With the barrier of sin forever removed, you’ve been freed to receive His love and to love Him in return! The relationship Adam and Eve lost has now been restored to you. “Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father” (Gal. 1:4). Jesus didn’t just save you from a future evil world (hell); He also delivered you from this present evil world, according to the Father’s will. You are now able to walk and talk with Him! Get to know God! “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Ps.16:11). “Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory” (1 Pet. 1:7-8). True joy and happiness in this life come from your intimacy with God. Knowing Him is eternal life! Prayer: Lord God, help me know You more and experience the joy and peace that comes from Your presence. —George Evuarherhe Djorhogba Yearly Bible Reading: Job 21-22 If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group through this link☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/FhB7m8GmsNzJhMfV42IcHx Or send a WhatsApp message to +2348021680251, +2348138224547(send Testimonies and Enquiries to these numbers too) Streamglobe is interdenominational. Perfecting Holiness In the Fear of God
2 Corinthians 7:1 (KJV) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. From when Debbie was a child, she was trained in the fear of the Lord. She knew that God was the judge of heaven and earth, and even though people may escape earthly justice, no one can escape the judgment of God. She understood that people who live as if God does not exist are living in foolishness. So when her husband was unkind to her and there was this male colleague in her office who was offering solace and friendly comfort, she knew exactly what he wanted and she was not ready to dabble in that territory of sin and immortality. Debbie did not fall into the trap of adultery because she feared the Lord. The fear of the human consequences or the love she had for her husband was not strong enough to restrain her from adultery. She wasn’t even sure her husband wasn’t already committing adultery himself, but she kept herself from sin and walked in the holiness of God because she had a foundation of the fear of God. This was the reason why she could come out of that season of her life victoriously, and her prayers were very powerful. Many believers today have told themselves that there is no need to fear God. That God is their father and no matter what they do, God will not punish them. That doctrine sounds cozy and attractive, but it is not scriptural nor is it true. God is no respecter of persons. If you are a believer, He empowers you to walk as His child. If you walk like an unbeliever, you are proving that you are not truly His child, and the wrath of God will visit all disobedience whether it is from a titled Christian or from an atheist. This is the reason why when we sin or go astray as believers, the Lord disciplines us and brings us to repentance. He does this because he does not want us to be judged with the rest of the world (see 1 Corinthians 11:31). Go into today remembering that because of God’s love for you, He made the ultimate sacrifice to redeem you from the way of life that was going to lead you into the imminent condemnation of the world. Now that you are saved, trust Him to walk in a manner worthy of the call. Hebrews 12:28-29 says: “Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire”. — Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible Reading: Psalms 30-32 If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group through this link☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/FhB7m8GmsNzJhMfV42IcHx Or send a WhatsApp message to +2348021680251, +2348138224547(send Testimonies and Enquiries to these numbers too) Streamglobe is interdenominational. Growing In The Kingdom
1 Peter 2:2 (KJV)As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. Joel who had just accepted the Lord Jesus Christ joined a Church to fellowship. After a few months of joining the Church, he expected that certain key responsibilities be given to him, but none was assigned to him. He became angry and planned to leave the Church. While pondering on this, he heard a preacher preach on today’s text and this changed him. He realized he was still a spiritual infant that was still in need of maturity before he could handle responsibility. As a new believer, what is required of you if you must grow properly is that you sit down to study and learn the word of God. It is the word that will keep you from sinning and guide you to the path of greatness in God. Psalm 119:11 and 105 (KJV) reads ‘Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee’ and ‘thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path’. For you not to walk in darkness, you need light. The word of God is this light. It is after you must have acquainted yourself with the word of God and be transformed by it that you would be ready to handle positions of responsibility in God’s house. But until then, study the word of God until you have shown yourself approved unto God(see 2 Tim 2:15). Once God approves of you, he will announce you himself. Go into today making up your mind to study and learn the word of God instead of fighting for positions. Pray this way: Father I desire to know you more than I desire positions. Reveal Yourself to me as I study and learn your word in Jesus’ name. Amen. -Dr. Emmanuel James Yearly Bible Reading: I Samuel 1-5 If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group through this link☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/FhB7m8GmsNzJhMfV42IcHx Or send a WhatsApp message to +2348021680251, +2348138224547(send Testimonies and Enquiries to these numbers too) Streamglobe is interdenominational. Receive a Sound Mind
2 Timothy 1:7(KJV) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Orevas’ mom suffered mental illness from her early twenties until she died at age 67. Oreva saw first-hand what it was like for someone to live in a fantasy world and have no control over the thoughts that came into their mind. It was a frightening experience. When she came to the Lord, she frequently prayed that neither she nor her children will inherit any of that mental instability. Whenever she felt concerned she would say to herself ‘‘for God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and sound mind’’ (2 Tim. 1:7). ‘‘God has given me a sound mind, He has also given my son a sound mind and daughter a sound mind and I will accept nothing less’’. She and her children enjoyed sound mind. The world and the devil are making every effort to control the child’s mind. The good news is that you have the authority to resist those efforts. If your child is young, you have the authority over what he puts over his mind, that is, the television, movies, and the videos he watches, the radio programs, tapes and the CDs he listens to, the books and magazines he reads, etc. You can also do as much to help your child fill his mind with Godly movies, words, and pictures, but most important of all, you have the power of prayer. So even if your child is away from your direct influence, you can pray for his or her mind to be sound, protected, and freed. One of the many wonderful things about receiving Jesus and being filled with the Holy Spirit is that along with every other blessing, we gain such stability and sound-mindedness that cannot be acquired any other way. That is because we are given the mind of Christ. The Bible says ‘‘let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus’’ Phil. 2:5. You can resist the worldly mind and allow His mind to be in control, and we can continually renew our minds by taking every thought captive. Mental illness does not have to be passed from one generation to the other, and mental imbalance is not God’s will for our children, neither is confused or unstable thinking. A big part of having a sound mind has to do with what goes into it. Filling our minds with what is out in the world brings confusion. Filling our minds with the things of God- especially the word – brings clarity of thought and peace of mind. The Bible says, ‘‘God is not the author of confusion but of peace (1Cor. 14:33). We must do what we can to make our children have the word of God in their minds so as to crowd out the confusion and ensure that they are sound-minded. God has given us a sound mind, why should we accept anything less for our children? Prayer Confession: I have received the Spirit that makes me walk in Love, Power, and a Sound Mind. This blessing is for me and for my children( Acts 2:39). I walk in Love, I walk in Power, and I have a sound mind, In Jesus name. —George Evuarherhe Djorhogba Yearly Bible Reading: Genesis 40-43 If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group through this link☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/FhB7m8GmsNzJhMfV42IcHx Or send a WhatsApp message to +2348021680251, +2348138224547(send Testimonies and Enquiries to these numbers too) Streamglobe is interdenominational. Liberation Through The Word
Psalm 119:11 (KJV) Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. After Chide accepted the Lord Jesus, he struggled with many of his previous bad habits and sins. When he discussed this with his discipler, his discipler would recommend prayer and fasting. Chide observed that the prayer and fasting worked in keeping his flesh at bay, but when the fasting was over, he observed that the flesh would spring back up and seek to control him. His spiritual life was like a seesaw; on fire today and down tomorrow. One day he saw his friend reading a book about the kingdom of God and he was drawn to it. He borrowed the book and started reading it. For the first time, Chide came into an understanding of God’s Truth and kingdom. From then, he was now excited to read the Bible, and even ‘the old testament’ now made sense to him. He observed that as he became a person of the Word, his prayers became much more powerful and he was now free from the bondage of sin. He received His freedom through the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus told those who believed in Him that it is when they abide in His word that they would know the truth, and the truth will make them free(see John 8:31-34). I have come to realize that the most effective way to escape the power of sin is through abiding in God’s word. The way God sanctifies us is through His word [which is Truth] (see John 17:17). The word of God is the spiritual water that cleanses and renews the minds of those who are born again( see Eph 5:26). Go into today determined to be a person that abides in God’s word. The Fear of The Lord
2 Corinthians 7:1 (KJV) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Stanley’s college roommate was a campus pastor who didn’t fear the Lord. It was evident in his conduct and character. Stanley was not a pentecostal like his pastor friend, but he was brought up by his parents to fear the Lord. There were many things his pastor friend did that he could not do because the fear of the Lord had stripped him of such sinful courage. As time passed and Stanley became baptized in the Holy Ghost, he walked in so much power that his pastor friend became jealous. Demons were afraid of Stanley but the same demons despised his pastor friend. Stanley was powerful and had authority because he walked in the holiness of God. This was possible because he feared the Lord. His pastor friend was not a man of spiritual authority even though he regularly prayed for long hours in tongues. From today’s Bible text, we see that in order for us to walk in God’s promise of sonship (see 2Cor 6:18) and the power that accrues to it, there is the need to perfect holiness. But this is not possible for the person that does not fear the Lord. It says “perfecting holiness in the fear of God”. It is only those who fear God that can truly walk in His holiness and the attendant authority. Go into today remembering that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The fact that certain modern teachers do not want to talk about it does not change the truth of God’s word. Prayer: Father, help me walk in Wisdom and Favour. Help walk in the fear of the Lord. —Abraham Damilola Arigi Yearly Bible Reading: Matthew 26-28 If you wish to start getting Streamglobe Devotional Text & Audio early every day, join a Streamglobe WhatsApp Group through this link☞ https://chat.whatsapp.com/FhB7m8GmsNzJhMfV42IcHx Or send a WhatsApp message to +2348021680251, +2348138224547(send Testimonies and Enquiries to these numbers too) Streamglobe is interdenominational.
