The Spirit Helps Us
Download today’s Audio: bit.ly/aud2073 Romans 8:26 (NET) In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings. When Lara was sick in the hospital, the doctor said she was having malaria because. Headache was usually a symptom she normally had when she was down with malaria. She truly had malaria but that was not the cause of her unbearable headache. But not one knew. When her brethren from church came to visit her in the hospital, they prayed for her before they left, and they did most of the praying in tongues. While they were still praying, a doctor who was a believer walked into the ward and heard them praying in tongues. But instantly, he started hearing one of them praying in his own native language. He was amazed because his language was not very popular in that part of the country. When the church brethren finished praying, he rushed to greet the sister who was praying in his language, but she did not understand what he was saying. He assumed she was from his tribe, but she was not. Then he realized he received the interpretation of her tongue by the Holy Spirit, and this manifested in him hearing her in his own native language. The doctor was just resuming and had not gone through Tara’s medical file. But he heard that sister thanking God for curing Tara of the brain tumor. He was shocked when he read her file and realized that she was complaining of a terrible headache, and everyone believed it was simply a symptom of malaria. Tara’s headache left completely when she woke up, and she was completely whole. She and her friends did not know what they were to pray for as they ought, but the Holy Spirit prayed for her through the vocal cords of her friends, even though they did not know what they were praying. When a believer is baptized in the Holy Spirit, he is usually gifted with the ability to pray in tongues. Praying in tongues is praying in the Spirit and with the spirit. There are many prayers that we need to pray, but don’t know that we need to pray those prayers. But when we pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit prays those prayers for us, yet it is registered in heaven that we have prayed because our spirits and bodies partook in the prayer. God needs us to pray certain prayers in order for Him to do certain things for us because prayer gives the immortals license to operate on the earth. The heavens of the heavens are the Lord’s, but the earth he has given to the sons of men (Psalm 115:16). Go into today thanking God for the privilege of praying in the Spirit through tongues. Ask the Lord to help you make the most of this awesome privilege. Pray more in tongues today. Prayer: Heavenly Father, please give me the grace to pray more. In Jesus name. Amen. -Pst. The Battle of The Mind
Download today’s Audio: bit.ly/aud2072 Romans 12:2 (KJV) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Man is not just body, man is spirit, soul, and body. The soul houses the mind which is the faculty of the emotions, will, and intellect. The mind is the gateway between the spirit and the body. At new birth, the spirit is saved, the mind(soul) is being saved by the process of renewal and conformity to God’s word through the help of the Holy Spirit, and the body will be saved at the appearing of Jesus. A renewed mind is one subject to the recreated spirit via the empowerment of the Holy Ghost. A man’s life is an expression of his thoughts. Proverbs 23:7 says, For as [a man] thinketh in his heart, so is he. God cannot help a man beyond the level of his thinking (read Num13:33). No wonder the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy a man by gaining access to his mind through deception, oppression or total possession. Since the mind is the seat of our thoughts, a mind not aligned to God’s word can’t think God’s thoughts and consequently, that life will end up on chaos. Hence Philippians 4:8 Finally says: brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. And Joshua 1:8 says: This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. The word of God is the antidote for the old mind. It washes away the old way of thinking and produces a renewed mind that is aligned to God’s will. The more you look into the word (and shape your world view through it), the more your mind is renewed and you are able to align with God’s purposes for your life. Go into today thinking on God’s word which is pure, lovely, has virtue and can deliver every good report you desire. Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to constantly meditate on your word so that my life will be an expression of your grace. The Power of Faith
Download today’s Audio: bit.ly/2kAXXqz Romans 8:11 (NET) Moreover if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you. Martha had lived her life in fear of the dark spiritual forces in her village. When she became born again, one of the first things she learned was that Jesus Christ rose up from the dead, and there was no power in hell that could stop Him from resurrecting. When she understood that the very same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lived within her, she was no longer afraid of the dark spiritual forces in her village. She knew she now had power over them. As time passed, she became a real terror to them. Her faith now produced such spiritual power that none of them could resist, she who used be terrorized became the one now terrorizing them. All the while she was afraid of the dark spiritual forces and was even terrorized by them after believing, she had the Holy Spirit living within her, but she didn’t have the faith required to reveal His mighty power. Every attribute of the divine nature that you have received in your spirit will have to be revealed through faith. Even your righteousness is revealed by faith (Rom 1:17). This means you have to first believe that you are now righteous, and then this faith produces the physical manifestation of your righteousness. In the same way, you have to first believe that you have been healed, and this faith will produce the physical manifestation of your healing, etc. Go into today remembering to believe and confess everything you have in Christ Jesus (see 2 Cor 4:13). Praying The Will Of God
Download Today’s Audio: bit.ly/2k3Kuan 1 John 5:14 (ESV) And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. Praise was discipled by Precious and they became very close. As time passed Praise observed that whenever Precious prayed, she received answers. Unlike her, Precious did not have to pray and fast all the time to solve a problem. She simply mentioned it to her Heavenly Father or would speak to the situation, and she always got results. When she asked Precious for the secret to this success in prayers, Precious responded: “I have learned to know and pray the will of God”. The effectiveness of prayer is not always in how long we pray, it is not even in how pressing the need, neither is it in how sincerely we are asking. Prayer becomes effective when God’s will [that we know] becomes the basis of our prayer. Note that His will is expressed in His word. All that you will ever need was known to God, provided by Him and packaged in His will long before your arrival (birth) here on earth. Not living the will of God is living a failure. Jesus taught us to pray that “your (God) will be done on earth as it is in heaven“. This should be the fulcrum of all our prayers. That was how Jesus prayed (see Matt 26:39). Go into today determined to spend your time and energy seeking to always walk in God’s will. I recommend that you read the devotionals titled ‘Discerning the will of God’ again. Find out what God already said concerning your needs and ask God from that standpoint. I guarantee you will become more effective. God’s Educational System 2
Get today’s Audio: bit.ly/aud2071 Titus 2:11-13 (NET) For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people. It trains us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. After Byron believed in the Lord Jesus, he was baptized in the Holy Ghost, and as a result, was empowered by the Spirit to overcome his addictions and live a godly life. This happened because he submitted to the instructions of righteousness given to him by his pastor. He had to change his apartment because his neighbor was his drug dealer, he had to leave his old friends and totally disconnect from his old way of living. He was filed with the Spirit and was taught to stay filled. In this way, his body was empowered by the indwelling Holy Spirit (Romans 8:11) and he could cope with withdrawal from the drugs. He spent a lot of time praying and singing in the Spirit because he needed to stay filled with the spirit. The infilling of the Holy Spirit affects even our mortal bodies. It empowers us beyond the power of ou will. One of the things the grace of God would teach us is that “bad company corrupts…(see 1 Corinthians 15:33). Those who are taught by grace become very particular about the company they keep. They guard their hearts with all diligence by guarding the information they feed into it. We saw yesterday that the grace of God trains us or teaches us [how] to reject ungodly ways and fleshly lusts. There are very practical things we must be willing to do in keeping with the teaching of grace. We must be willing to forsake our worldly ways and deny the flesh. Go into today remembering that as a student of grace, you have to be willing to obey the demands of God’s kingdom for your life. This is the only way to allow the divine life to excel within you. Prayer: Heavenly Father, please lead me to your green pastures and help me be fed and led by your living word. Help me to live a godly and fruitful life. In Jesus name. Amen. -Pst. God’s Educational System
Get today’s Audio: bit.ly/aud2070 Titus 2:11-13 (NET) 11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people. 12 It trains us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. When Byron accepted the Lord Jesus, he was a drug addict who had been to the rehab twice. He didn’t believe it was possible for him to overcome his addiction to drugs until he came in contact with the grace of God. After accepting the gospel, he realized that he was now enrolled in God’s educational system. Through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit and the ministry of the Word, he was trained to reject all his previous godless ways and to now live a self-controlled godly life. Because he was a medical doctor, he understood the physiological ramifications of his addiction, so he knew that it was the power of God that made it possible for him to be trained out of his addictions into a godly life. Many believers talk a lot about grace but experience too little of it because they do not realize that grace empowers us to overcome sin through a training or educational process administered by the Holy Spirit and the ministry of the word. Believers who give very little time to the learning of the word will experience very little grace in their lives. Today’s Bible verses show us that the grace of God trains or teaches us [how] to reject ungodly ways and fleshly lusts; grace trains us [how] to live godly lives in this present world. But you cannot isolate all these from the backdrop of our blessed hope as believers. This hope is the expectation of the glory that will be revealed in us when the Lord appears. This expectation keeps us pure as we await the appearing of our God and Savior Jesus Christ (see 1 John 3:3). Go into today remembering that the grace of God is appropriated in your life through submission to discipleship and learning. Every believer is a disciple. The word disciple means follower, student or apprentice. Every believer in Christ is a student of grace. Prayer: Lord, please help me know greater measures of your grace daily. The Blessed Hope 2
Get today’s Audio: bit.ly/aud2069 Romans 8:24 (KJV) For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? When Sharon was a little girl, she used to be very afraid of the dark. This fear stayed with her until she became an adult. But when she accepted the Lord Jesus, she realized that she had the ability in Christ to conquer all her fears. One of the first lessons she learned was to change her expectations and align them accordingly. This was how she conquered her fears. Sharon used to be very afraid because her native expectations were always negative. She feared the dark because unknown to her, her expectation was that bad things are bound to happen to her in the dark. This was generally her outlook to life, and she lived in so much fear. But she overcame her fears when she rearranged her expectations according to God’s word and promises. She no longer expected evil to meet her in the dark because she now believed that “surely, goodness and mercy shall follow her”(Psalm 23:6). The way the word [translated as] hope was used by the early believers is very different from the way it is used today. Hope for them was a sure expectation predicated on God’s promises, not just wishful thinking. Today’s Bible verse shows us that our salvation was predicated on certain sure expectations based on God’s promises. Most of the expectations of our salvation are things pertaining to eternal life, not merely things pertaining to this temporary form of life (see 1 Cor 15:19). Because you are saved, you would not perish like the rest of the world but have everlasting life and rule and reign over the universe with Christ forever (John 3:16, 2 Timothy 2:12, Revelation 21:7). Because we are saved and abide in Christ, we would rule and reign with Christ over this very same earth for a thousand years when Jesus returns, and thereafter, would replace these heavens and the earth with a new one (see Revelation 20:1-6, 21:1). Because you are saved, you are empowered by the Holy Spirit to live according to God’s script concerning you(see Psalm 40:7-8). You will be rewarded according to how faithful you are. Go into today with your hope unwavering, remembering that our faith is a substance of things hoped for (Hebrews 11:1). True faith is predicted upon expectations informed by the word and promises of God. Prayer: Ask the Lord to fill your heart with the right expectations so that you would live accurately before Him in accordance with His will. -Abraham Damilola Arigi Want to be saved? For The Joy
Get today’s Audio: bit.ly/aud2068 Hebrews 12:2(KJV) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. God’s eternal plan, is to establish His kingdom both in heaven and on earth. Scriptures make us understand in Revelations 21:1 that even after this present earth passes away, a new heaven and earth will come. One in which Christ and all the saints will rule forever. Scriptures say in 1 John 3:2-3 that “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure”. This should make you joyful. You are going to be like Christ. Mortality shall put on immortality, life shall swallow up death forever. Our flesh shall be celestial, not this terrestrial that perishes, this corruptible shall put on incorruptible (1 Corinthians 12:53). Glory to God! So for this joy, for this kind of majestic life, for the glory which shall be revealed in us, for the hope that we have of being like Jesus, we purify ourselves as He is pure. Hallelujah!!! We allow God’s Word that is spoken to us to wash away every impurity in us, for we are cleansed by the Word that is spoken to us (John 15:3). We give free course to God’s Word to reproof, correct and instruct us in righteousness, thereby becoming perfect and prepared for good works at all times, as we await His glorious appearing (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Hallelujah! Prayer: Dear Father, thank You for the Joy that is set before me to reign with Jesus for eternity. And for this joy, I purify myself, through the instrumentality of Your Word and Spirit that You have made available for me. And I will be presented in Your glorious presence at Your coming, by Your Spirit, perfect and without blemish to enter into Your joy, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. – George Djorhogba Want to be saved? Victory With Good Deeds
Get today’s Audio: bit.ly/aud2067 Romans 12:21(KJV) Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. It is known throughout history that communities and nations that always retaliate every evil attack meted against them would never know peace because from generation to generation, one side is always retaliating against the other side. That’s one reason why total peace in the middle east is still a dream. One of the virtues of the Spirit that comes into our lives when we received Jesus is the ability to be restraint even in the face of strong hateful bashing, especially when we could just as well give as much as we have received. And that’s what Jesus taught us in (Matthew 5:38-39). Our lead scripture enjoins us to pay evil with good. It continues thus: as far as it is in your power, live in peace with all men (Romans 12:18). We decide the way we respond to things done to us, that is our prerogative. Our human default system is configured to pay evil with evil. That is how it operates, but until you reset it through the renewing of your mind with God’s Word, your human default system will always pay evil with evil and not good with evil. The only way evil deeds can be defeated is through good deeds. When someone wrongs you, instead of responding in equal measure, wisdom teaches us to respond with good. This is why I will always say this, we don’t have any true enemy in the flesh. Our only enemy is Satan that works in and through people. Go into today remembering to respond with good at all times when people trespass against you. This is the only way to overcome evil and end its malignant spread. Philippians 4:8 should always ring in your heart. Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your wisdom which You have shared with me. I trust in You to work in me through the instrumentality of Your Word to always do good in the face of adverse evil. For I know that as I continue doing good, I will always gain victory over evil, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. – George Djorhogba Want to be saved? Love Not The World
Download Today’s Audio: bit.ly/aud2066 1 John 2:15-17 (KJV) Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Ada believed that she loved God, but she realized that she didn’t have a robust relationship with the Lord as she needed to. She had seen Linda her friend pray simple prayers and receive instant answers from the Lord. She saw how Linda had peace in spite of any situation because of her relationship with the Lord. Ada knew that she did not have this. She later realized that even though she claimed to love the Lord, she still loved the world so much. This was the reason it appeared as though she was not known by God. One of the many advantages of loving God is that you will be known by God (see 1Corinthians 8:3). Of course, God knows everyone, but what 1 Corinthians 8:3 is talking about is what Linda had that Ada did not have. Some people have the Lord’s ear, but most people do not. The secret is loving God. It is impossible to love God and love the world at the same time. You can only deceive yourself that you love God if you still love the world because love for the world would always make you do things that show that you don’t truly love God. A person who loves the world would love the things that are in the world. They include lust(lust of the flesh), greed(lust of the eyes) and pride(pride of life). If a person loves lust, he would find that he would regularly disobey the Lord in that area. Ada had a boyfriend who would come and spend the weekend with her at least once every month. She knew this was wrong because she knew God did not approve, but… She still loved her lust (a thing in the world). For some, their number one pursuit in this life is material things and money. This lust motivates even their prayer discipline and spiritual practices. They do not realize that a person who truly loves God has God’s kingdom as his first priority, wealth and other things become additions to facilitate his kingdom assignment, they never become the priority of a person who truly loves God. Pride of life is the reason people compare themselves with themselves and have ‘sleepless nights’ because they too want to be seen as successful. Living that way is too much of a burden for the soul of a man who would be productive in God’s kingdom. Go into today remembering that the love of the Father and the love of the world cannot exist together in any human heart. Ask the Holy Spirit to search you and expunge from your heart every love for the world and the things therein. Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to love you and enjoy a robust relationship with you.
