Jeremiah 29:13-14 (KJV) “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord : and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord ; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.”

“Why are you bordering me? I’ve told you already that I don’t pray twice about a matter, once I’ve spoken to God about it once, that’s it; God said it, I believe it and that settles it. You see, I won’t pray those prayers again, I won’t practice vain repetition, by faith, I believe that I have been delivered” was Jane’s response when Joy asked that they pray again against her being constantly molested in the dream. Since Joy couldn’t persuade her otherwise, she let her be. Sadly though, the cycle of molestation by a strange man in her dreams continued and because of this, she couldn’t get married.

Jane wouldn’t repeat the same prayer twice because she considered it doubting God and a sign of faithlessness. Was she right? Is it wrong to pray the same prayer over and over again?

In Isaiah 62:6-7 (KJV), God said, “I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence, and give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” You see, repeating the same prayers over and over again is not wrong.

How then do I know that my prayer has been answered and when to stop praying about it? According to today’s text and Isaiah 62:6-7, it is until what you’re asking for has been done.

And the second is: until God gives you a word or an assurance concerning that issue. This was recorded concerning Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 (KJV), “and lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me”. You see, because God gave him a word of assurance, he quit praying about the issue.

Go into today knowing that you are to keep asking until your joy is full (see John 16:24).

Prayer: Father, I ask in Jesus’ name for the grace to continue in prayer until your purposes are fulfilled in my life. Amen!
